Everything was going wrong today. Long story short, it's my 20th birthday trip and I decided to come to Jacksonville ( I didn't want to drive alllll the way to Miami) with my bestie and boyfriend. We had to get refunds for 2 airbnbs because they were filthy. I'm talking stains on the beds and towels gross. Well we were starving after going through mental cartwheels with housing, and needed food! We saw Moon River Pizza was open and ran over before they closed. The staff was exceptional! I mean super welcoming, the vibes were chill, and the food was great! We got a 2 large pizzas and a house salad. The playlist playing in the background created an awesome atmosphere, we were dancing while eating! I don't go to restaurants before they close, I've worked in restaurants too, but they let us stay probably 30 minutes after closing and never made us feel rushed. ( please don't go right before closing though!! ) I will be coming back every chance I'm in Jacksonville purely based on this night. This pizza and interactions with the staff felt like the only win from the day and genuinely flipped my frown upside down. read more

This was our first time eating here. We did have a slice of Moon River Pizza a few years ago at a friend's house and we remember liking it. Today it was a Wednesday around 5:45pm and the line to order was long! After we ordered and while we were there eating the order line never went down. I told my wife that says a lot about a restaurant if it stays that steady busy the entire time we've been here; everyone must really like it! We ordered the T-Rex medium pizza. Wow we both really liked it and loved the flavors..... There's other pizza places around town that has pizza similar to this one BUT Moon River Pizza had much more flavor and came out to the table way hotter than any other pizza we've had in a super long time! Moon River is my favorite pizzeria in the city. The staff is always friendly and helpful making guests comfortable during their visit I stopped in for their lunch special, two slices with one topping and a drink for $9. I chose pepperoni and Italian sausage for my slices. I missed the lunch time crowd, but they still had a nice amount of customers at 2 pm. After a brief wait, my slices arrived nice and hot. The slices are huge, one is enough to fill you up, leaving you with a second meal. Overall, another great experience. I can't wait to return. read more

Pretty good pizza, but the last two times we ordered our usual with the roasted garlic and it was left off. Both times we got take out and brought it home and started eating it only to realize it wasn't all there. At that point it's not like a bunch of hungry people are gonna take it back but just disappointing. read more

This is probably my new favorite pizza place in Jacksonville! The hair salon I go to is right around the corner from this place so I've passed it many times and finally decided to try it last week. The crust was very crispy but not overdone and the breaded eggplant was a must! It was around $22 for a medium pizza with 4 toppings which I thought was reasonable. The staff is chill, super helpful with refills etc. I've seen families, dates, sports teams, just about everyone enjoying this place. They have a couple of tvs, and they serve beer (draft and bottles) and wine, but the foods are the star of the show! Thin crust pizzas, toppings galore, calzones... shake some of that G-spot on top if you like a little spice... don't sleep on the Greek salad either. This has now happened twice in less than a month. The first time, the bottom of the pizza was badly burnt. To their credit, the manager replaced it free of charge and the remake was excellent. Unfortunately, I returned today and experienced the same issue again (see photos)-- the entire bottom of the crust was charred and overcooked. When the pizza is made correctly, it's very good, but the inconsistency is frustrating, especially at this price point. I also don't feel customers should have to call the manager each time to get a properly made pizza. I'm hoping they can address the oven timing and quality control so this doesn't continue happening. read more

I've eaten there on several occasions and have never had a bad meal. The salads are huge and the dressing is on the side so it doesn't get soggy which is great when I get takeout. I've had several different kinds of pizza and they are delicious. If you make the mistake of not ordering ahead of time, you might have to wait a little bit, but I'll wait as long as I need to for delicious fresh made pizza. read more

A vintage, chill, friendly place to have a fantastic pizza! Ordered the large white pizza and added bacon, just to make sure I would have left overs for the next day. The crunch, and mix was flavors is a hard one to compare to other places. While waiting and eating my pizza I was not the only one excited that they had the Mummy playing, it seems like we had made it to a Pizza Movie night lol Service was fantastic, and we were even treated to some delicious chocolate cupcakes. Discovered a treasure in Murray Hill this past weekend in Moon River Pizza. I don't know the origin story but it seems like some GenXers got together, decided to open a great pizza restaurant with the goal to make great food and create a fun atmosphere with impeccable service. We entered and ordered. We were complimented on our order and told that we had to try the balsamic glaze with our fried eggplant pizza and it was great advice. We were given a marker for our table. It wasn't numbered. It was an artistic rendering of Molly Ringwald wearing a Judd Nelson T-shirt. The interior is artistic and eclectic with local art on the walls and there are a couple of TVs that featured the Army/Navy game. Stickers lined the kitchen. It was like a 90s dorm room or apartment. Everything we ordered was great. The cheese calzone just had immaculate dough and the sauce was perfect. Tangy, not sweet. The epitome of what sauce should be. The medium fried eggplant pizza was actually rather large compared to other pizza locations in the area. The pizza was good on its own. I added a bit of oregano and red pepper but the balsamic glaze made it a home run. Alt rock was playing quietly in the background and several times while we were eating, our drinks were topped off and everyone on the staff paid close attention to everyone there and they seemed to legitimately enjoy doing it. Their attitude was infectious. Great outing, great place. We'll be back for sure...often. If you haven't tried Moon River Pizza, I highly suggest you do. This place is fantastic!!! read more

Went with a friend and had calzones (funny shape, serious flavor) for dinner. It must've been kids night because there were several of them there with Disney on the TV. Surprisingly, it was well tamed, and everyone was very well mannered (no screaming Mimi's, thank you!!). The wait-staff were great and very attentive, stopping by on several occasions to make sure everything was OK. I'm not sure where I put it all, but I ate almost that whole calzone. Moon River pizza is easily one of our favorite pizza places in Jax. They are always friendly, the food is always fresh and tasty (love the pizza and Greek salad), and though they're often busy, seating is usually pretty manageable. It's generally a pretty family friendly atmosphere, though the movies they show are sometimes not kid-friendly. They're usually good about changing it to something family appropriate if you ask, though. As a family with young kids, we generally go during the day, as it gets a bit loud and becomes more of an adult atmosphere at night. Parking is also usually not too bad. I had at least 5 different people ask if we needed anything like our drinks cups need to be refilled etc.. all of them seemed to Just really take an interest in our experience there. I'm not a huge pizza eater but when I crave pizza, Moon River is the only place I want. My husband and I love their white pizza. When I do have that craving for pizza, I don't know what it is but their T-Rex (loaded with all meats) just hits. It's so good. Their pizza slices are big. Two is enough for each of us and sometimes we'll order to reheat at home. What I love the most about this place is the service. Everyone is really nice but there's one specific cashier that's always super happy and friendly. He's funny and just always in a good mood. read more

Hubby and I tried Moon River Pizza recently. Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan. Hubby enjoyed it but wasn't in love either. The ordering process is a little different than your average pizza place. You wait in line, order, get a number then grab a table. We ordered a couple beers and a large pepperoni pizza. They do let you prepay for additional beers/drinks or you can order from the server making rounds in the dining area. To me the pizza was just okay. Cheese and pepperoni were good but I didn't care for the sauce too much. The crust was too thick, definitely more of a bready crust than I like. The slices were floppy and didn't hold up well. The pizza wasn't bad but just not my style. read more

First time dining in and we were wowed by the friendly and fantastic service! This comfortable pizza place in Murray Hill is a great space with local art on the walls and great pizza. Our drinks were refilled often and our pizza and calzone came out cooked perfectly. The dough is delicious, cooked just right for a chewy crust that isn't tough. We loved the breaded eggplant pizza and the suggestion of adding some balsamic glaze made it a home run! We ordered a medium size pizza and it was so big, can't imagine how big the large one is! Really appreciated the offer of some balsamic glaze to go with our leftover slices too. The calzone was good as well, the dough again cooked perfectly and the accompanying tomato sauce was just the way I like it, not sweet and flavorful. I prefer my calzone with more ricotta than mozzarella but it was still tasty. The extra sauce was perfect for crust dipping too. The disco ball is the first thing I loved about this place upon entry. The customer service is amazing. Menu on the wall for everyone to see. Plenty of seating. My husband and I ate the while pie that is how delicious it was! You have to order the cheese sticks as well! It was very economical like $25 total. My husband lives trying new pizza joint and this one wowed us. We ordered take out on our way home from the arcade and our son was sleeping in our car. It took 20 minutes for our food to be prepared. They did not spare the cheese or toppings like other pizza joints and they're sauce was very unique and enjoyable! Their ranch was tasty as well to dip your pizza crust in!
