I have been a customer of Mama's Pizza on Baymeadows Road, but unfortunately, I've had multiple issues with incorrect orders at this location. On May 16, my order was incorrect, so I called the restaurant and spoke with Sydney. She apologized for the mistake and explained that she had spoken with management. She assured me that a replacement pizza would be noted on my account and that it would be covered the next time I ordered because of the error. When I called today to redeem that replacement, I asked to speak with Sydney, but she wasn't working. Instead, I spoke with the owner, who told me that all order adjustments or issues have to go through him. While he explained how their system works and why he couldn't find the credit, he never offered to make the situation right, despite the previous commitment that had been made to me. What was most disappointing wasn't that there was confusion about the record--it was the lack of customer service. Had someone simply acknowledged the previous mistake and honored what I had been told, this could have been resolved quickly. Instead, I was left feeling like my concerns didn't matter. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. However, when a business promises to correct an error, customers should be able to trust that promise will be honored. Small but cute restaurant with a pretty big menu. Lots of choices but we came here to try some Chicago deep dish. As expected, Chicago style takes longer to bake than other styles. We ordered one with pepperoni, sausage and banana peppers. While we waited for that, we started with an Antipasto salad. The salad was good, just basic. Soon the star of the show came out. Hot and steaming. The deep dish was very good. A bit watery though. Maybe they didn't dry off the banana peppers. Still, it was delicious. A 10" pizza cut into quarters. 1 slice was more than enough for a person. Inside is cute with a very artistic flare. Not a lot of tables. Probably the one thing they can do is put up some sun shades. The vibe of this place and the service was amazing. We ordered one thing of Garlic Knots, a La Bonitas Chicago style pizza, and the Honey Garlic Wings. That Garlic knots had a soft interior and a crunchy outer, great texture but average taste. The La Bonitas Chicago style pizza tasted like a ham and cheese hot pocket and extremely greasy it soaked through the bottom of the box making a hole. It was a rainy Saturday evening and all I wanted was a Chicago deep dish pizza. Mama's Pizza & Grill was the closest place we hadn't tried yet so off we went. We arrived, were greeted warmly and immediately walked to a table. We ordered quickly since we already knew what we wanted - Chicago deep dish pizza with pepperoni. Alright, let's talk about it! Had to stop and try out one of Jacksonville restaurant go to influencers restaurant social feeds aka Ashley's restaurant mamas pizza & grill off of Baymeadows. We decided to do something light as I wasn't really hungry since the snacks at the movie were a bit filling to me. But here's what we tried 10pc lemon pepper wings - 8/10 the wings were fried really well super crunchy! But the lemon pepper seasoning I couldn't really tell it was there. The gluten free pizza - 10/10 was really good for a gluten free pizza! The service was decent 6/10, not sure if it's because the place was slow for a Sunday night. The atmosphere was great, pretty chill pretty loud as they were cleaning the kitchen I believe as i hear a lot of pressure washing. This has become our to go place when we are craving some pizza! We love how things and chewy the study is and their sauce is so delicious... definitely reminds us of NY. I have seen this restaurant via various Instagram reels and decided to give them it a try. I ordered the 'Vinci' pizza, mozzarella sticks, and the garlic Parmesan wings (well done.) The Vinci pizza was absolutely delicious. I'm not a huge fan of pizza sauce so them having an Alfredo based option was perfect. I will definitely be back for the Vinci specifically and would love to try their other pizza options. The chicken wings were crispy which I loved but I do wish there was a bit more sauce on the wings. The mozzarella sticks definitely need to be eaten fresh as you don't get that infamous cheese-pull if you wait (but that's not the fault of the restaurant since I live pretty far.) So I will say to my surprise it was actually similar to NY style pizza. Flavors were delicious. I got the Picasso pizza, chicken wings, chicken parm, garlic knots. Customer service was phenomenal. A lot of mozzarella cheese and pulled just like the video that was shared about 5 months ago. It came out just like that video, which was the reason I went here. I had a cold Yuengling to wash down a couple of slices. My daughter had the lobster ravioli, which she said was amazing. So I'm going to bump the rating up from a 3 to a 4 based on her review of the lobster ravioli and fresh garlic rolls. If I came back I might try something else. The jalapeno poppers were just as expected; cheesy, spicy fried goodness (is there a bad jalapeno popper?) The cheese is cheddar. Would get again every time. The pizza wasn't the best Chicago-style deep dish (I lived in the Chicago area for 2 years), but it was excellent. The pizza was not pre-cut, which turned out great for me because I live about 40 mins away and my pizza was still pretty warm when I got home. It was VERY greasy (due to all the meats) so if you get a deep dish, maybe pick one with not so much meat. The sauce is also a sweeter marinara sauce. The only thing that was a bummer was the windows not having shades or blinds. The sun was setting and shining directly in, and I had to wear sunglasses the whole time and lead to the side, so I wasn't directly in the sun. It also made the people whose backs were facing the window very hot. If you go, go before or after sunset so you're not blinded. Or sit somewhere the sun won't shine in your eyes. We ordered La Bonita Pizza which was a NY style pizza and came with a risotto sauce, bacon, tomatoes and fresh mozz- 10/10 and would definitely order this again. A big thank you goes to our waitress for telling us how good this pizza was! We also wanted to try a deep dish pizza so we ordered the Penne alla Vodka pizza Chicago style which was also 10/10!
