Roka Akor is hands down one of the best happy hours and overall restaurants in the area for Japanese food lovers. Everything with tried on the menu especially the sashimi tacos were amazing. The lychee cocktail was one of my first drinks postpartum and was so good - lived up to the hype. We were pleased with bartenders recommendations and quick service, overall would definitely come again.

Get the omakase! Aka trust the chef. If you have the time, and it's in your budget, highly recommend this option. This restaurant had been on my list to try for awhile, but was waiting for a special occasion. My husband and I came for our first anniversary dinner. Service was spectacular from our server. I am blanking on his name at time of review. He took the time to explain the menu and was super friendly. We decided to go with the omakase menu. I am trying to be more adventurous in my food. We enjoyed fish, shrimp, sushi, pork belly, steak, and dessert. I will say that I was not a fan of the bone marrow or hot pot soup. However, with all of the variety, I left full. I also recommend the blood orange margarita!

We stopped in here for dinner on a Saturday at about 5 PM and did not realize that reservations are recommended so there were no tables available, but there was room at the bar. We went ahead and sat at the bar, ordered a drink started with a couple apps and had a wonderful evening. We ended up ordering a maki and Nigiri platter for dinner and everything was beyond delicious including the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Service was fantastic as was the ambience. Drinks were on point - we will be back for sure with friends!

I would probably go 3.5 but I'll round up. The menu had a nice selection and the wait staff was good. Overall the meal was good not mind blowing. For the price point, likely wouldn't be back but we ordered: - New York strip 8/10, cooked past my request for medium rare but good flavor - mushrooms 9/10 surprisingly good! - corn 8/10 good but nothing to write home about - calamari 7/10 decent flavor but just not my thing - bone marrow 8/10 very good. Good price for the amount - scallop sushi ... idk how to rate this lol it was very unique. We were both like hmm i think i like it - Sea bass 4/10 this was very lackluster If I came back, I would prob try another cut of steak and and the bone marrow and mushrooms.

Overall very happy with our visit to Roka Akor! We snagged last minute reservations for 6pm on a Saturday night and enjoyed every second of it. We were seated right away and the entire waitstaff was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. They really go the extra mile and make small talk and remember your name. We started with the butterfish tataki from the cold plates. It was a solid starter - very light and fresh with a little bit of crunch from the asparagus. Then we had the wagu beef and kimchi dumplings. These were a bit hit. After the hold appetizers these were a good heartier option full of flavor. For our mains, we split the poached lobster roll and the prime bone-in ribeye. These roll was so fresh and very pretty and the steak was a very decent portion and very tender. They get extra bonus points from me because they cut the steak into slices! Our waiter also brought us complimentary drinks as we waited for our mains to come.

My friend brought me in for a fun lunch. She makes a weekly lunch stop and now I know why. Everything was fantastic. Her favorite server Lee took great care of us. He was personable, fun and professional. He knew the menu well and made great suggestions. The dumplings were so full of flavor. Our ramen bowls were filled with veggies, noodles and layers of spices. Our desserts were fantastic. My Uber Pot de Creme is my new favorite. The dining room is modern and spacious - the perfect stop after working up an appetite after shopping. The atmosphere, cuisine and service were all elevated and perfect. Thank you Lee!

Roka Akor never disappoints! Delicious food. Great service. If you don't ask to sit at the grill, you are missing out.

First, i'll start by saying that the cod was absolutely divine. We started the meal out with some miso soup, which lacked that "miso" taste that would be expected, but we appreciated the abundance of mushrooms and tofu present. The sushi was another story, and i wish that I could say that I liked it. Especially because I used to adore this restaurant. The rice was gummy, and the maki as a whole just did not live up to expectations. Chicken a little dry but at least we left well-nourished. Server was kind, and did what he could. It's just that for these prices, I'd sooner go to a bit more of a thoughtful restaurant. Much love to the staff.

Wonderful first experience here for dinner. I made a reservation beforehand and was seated immediately. Everyone was extremely friendly and passionate about their place of work. I appreciated the waiter's recommendations and pairings. The atmosphere was a mixture of cozy and upscale. I loved the fusion between a casual sushi place and an upscale steakhouse. The drinks were phenomenal with a unique palette of flavors. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. I love the added touch of the steaks being precut to reduce the need for steak knives and cutting my own meal. The sauces were flavorful and added an incredible taste to the already delicious food. I can't wait to go back and highly recommend.

Upscale Japanese dining at the Oakbrook Center offering steaks, seafood, and sushi. Hit this spot during the week for a nice little lunch date with the wife and thought the food was excellent. They do a prefix lunch set meal which includes a nice soup, salad, and tasty wagyu and kimchi dumplings. I ended up trying the chirashi bowl which was fresh and delicious. Service was prompt. 'Til next time, cheers!

My sister has been raving about this place and so I had to check it out while I was in town. It did not disappoint. We sat at the bar and had their lunch special but everything was superb. The person serving us was warm friendly and really made us feel comfortable. So nice to see a fancy place have an inviting service. For my lunch special, I tried the hamachi maki and my sister had the three sashimi with crispy tuna rolls. The lunch special comes with a perfectly dressed small salad, miso soup that's refreshing and one of the best beef and kimchi fried dumplings I've ever had. The mains were a feast for the eyes. I thought my maki rolls were fine but the sashimi and crispy tuna rolls were excellent. I especially enjoyed the salmon, so melty good. I can't imagine any dish on the menu being less than stellar. The food, presentation, setting and service were all five stars. It is your special occasion dinner or your treat yo self lunch. I thought it was fantastic!

This is one of my husband and I's favorite restaurants! We love the ambiance, the amazing service, and the incredible food! Our favorite thing to do is the Omakase meal, we've done the Signature and Decadent options and equally enjoyed both! Each dish is so perfectly crafted, and truly some of the best food we've ever had. In addition, every dessert is also good, but the Ube Pot de Creme has a special hold on me.

As we ordered drinks, he asked only my daughter (33 years old) and my niece (39 years old) for identification. My niece explained that she had her ID available digitally on her phone. Casper said he needed a physical ID but would check with a manager to see if the digital version could be accepted. After speaking with management, he returned and informed us that a digital ID would not be accepted. He explained that the restaurant's policy required physical IDs from anyone who appeared to be 30 years old or younger. When we expressed our frustration and said we would not be dining there because of this policy, he showed no concern and offered no apology. We were curious about a random age requirement if the server thought you "looked" 30 or younger although the legal drinking age in Illinois is 21. Before leaving, we asked to speak with a manager. Ryan, the manager, met us at the door, and we explained that we were disappointed that our niece could not order a drink despite having a valid digital ID. Rather than addressing our concern, he compared the situation to him being carded at liquor stores. We pointed out that this was a restaurant, not a liquor store, and that the policy appeared to be applied selectively based exclusively on the server's judgment. Ryan offered no apology and referred us to the General Manager. When Christa, the General Manager, joined us, we asked why the restaurant used a 30-year-old threshold when the legal drinking age in Illinois is 21. She initially stated that the policy was to request IDs from all guests ordering alcohol. I explained that only my daughter and niece had been asked for IDs. She then revised her explanation, saying that servers request IDs from anyone who appears younger than 30, making the policy exclusively dependent on the server's judgment. We also pointed out that we observed a nearby table of younger-looking guests had been served alcoholic beverages, but their server did not ask for their IDs. Christa questioned our observation. What was most disappointing was that neither Ryan nor Christa apologized for the inconvenience or acknowledged our concerns. As first-time guests, we left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured that we will not be dining at Perry's in Oakbrook again and has left a bad impression of Perry's management team, in general. If I could rate them a "no stars," I would.

Shopping mall chic?…read more If you've spent any time near a mall in the suburbs, there are a few staples you'll inevitably come across, one of them being Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse at 2105 S. Spring Rd. Gibsons has long been known as a go-to for a slightly upscale steakhouse experience in the suburbs. I hadn't been in years, but we were in the area and decided to go somewhere a bit nicer for dinner to celebrate my birthday, so we gave Gibsons another try. One highlight was the complimentary valet service, it was quick, easy, and very efficient. The restaurant was busy with lots of families and celebrations. The interior has a classic, almost mob-era steakhouse vibe, reminiscent of old-school 1930s-40s Italian-American dining rooms. Service was friendly and accommodating throughout the night. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and for my entrée I had a ribeye with a side of potatoes and broccoli. My friend ordered a filet mignon salad. We also shared a side salad. The food was solid overall, but the salads were a bit watery, and the ranch dressing was just okay. The steak was good, but not quite the standout I expected given the price point, ribs are close to $70, so expectations are understandably high. Everything felt consistent, but not particularly memorable. That said, Gibsons does feel very steady and familiar, which may be part of its appeal. It's the kind of place people return to because they know exactly what they're going to get. Even the bread was fine, but nothing really stood out as exceptional. One of the more memorable (and amusing) parts of the experience was the birthday tradition. I still can't fully make out what they're saying during the birthday song, it's loud, a bit barked, and honestly both funny and slightly intimidating. I can't decide if I love it or would be terrified by it as a kid. There was also an interesting moment with dessert, my ice cream was placed in a plastic bag inside a box of ice. Creative, but not exactly elegant. I definitely didn't eat it, but it was memorable in its own way. Overall, if you're looking for a consistent, classic steakhouse experience that leans more familiar than elevated, Gibsons fits that role. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Hubby had the sautéed mushrooms with a filet, which was cooked perfectly and very tasty.

Truffled Mac & cheese were so cheesy it was a perfect mouthful. The rice also had some delicious flavors that enticed my tastebuds with savory goodness! Everything was GOODT! Easter Sunday with great food, good company, and dope service ! Check em out!

We started with some lobster bisque and a lump crab cake appetizer. The bisque was sublime. The crab cake was mostly crab and paired with a delicious mustard sauce. My only complaint was that I wanted more. Having recently experienced a subpar upscale chain restaurant steak dinner at another restaurant, I was gun shy to order a steak, but was rewarded with one of the most tender and tasty cuts of beef in the Chicago suburbs. The literal topper was the red wine reduction...so good! My companion ordered (and shared!) the grilled scallops. A generous serving of tender, succulent scallops on a bed of delicious risotto. The combo made a great surf and turf experience. Desserts at these types of restaurants can be so overwhelming that even the thought of sharing seems like too much. But here, we had perfectly sized portions and a wonderful selection of treats to cap a great meal. We each ordered a different treat and it was the perfect amount. We are looking forward to bringing friends and family to return visits. Soon.

Hubby and I went to dinner at Seasons 52 on Saturday, which we haven't been to in a long time. I…read moreforgot how much I enjoy this restaurant. We sat in the bar and had a great server named Shawn. Shawn was engaging and provided great service. I'll definitely request him next time I visit. I wasn't drinking that night, but hubby solo'd it with a bourbon cocktail called a Paper Plane. He said it was very tasty, especially on the hot day. We shared the ahi tuna tartare to start. The tartare was a stack of tuna with tropical salsa and avocado. So fresh. It came with a basket of crispy lavish bread, I hope when the restaurant switches their recipe that they will continue making a seedless lavish for those who can't do nuts or seeds. Hubby had the wood grilled tenderloin salad for dinner. I had to get a taste of that tenderloin because it was cooked perfectly. It was so tasty and seasoned well. I had the wood grilled Idaho rainbow trout, swapping out the asparagus for carrots. The trout came with a dill mustard sauce which I nixed and just squeezed fresh lemon on the fish. The fish was moist and smoky. Of course, we had to get the little dessert shooters to end the meal. Hubby had the Belgian chocolate s'mores, which was ridiculously decadent. I had the more conservative raspberry cannoli dessert. These tiny sweet treats are delicious mini indulgences. I love them because you want something a little sweet at the end of a meal but don't want a huge dessert. I think they're perfect. I like Seasons 52 because every item on the menu has the calories listed. Their food is always very good and the service is top-notch. When I ordered the tuna appetizer, a manager came over right away and asked me about a seed allergy because they noticed I said no nuts and seeds on my reservation. They really pay attention to their customers needs. I highly recommend Seasons 52. Ask for Shawn!

Steakhouses are not really my thing; I can count on my fingers the number of times I've been to one in my life. But Ditka's seemed intriguing because it was just around the corner from my parents' house. I am really glad this is where I saw the game and can concur with other Yelpers. This is not a Bears-themed steakhouse as much as it is a steakhouse with some Ditka art. Don't expect to see wall to wall memorabilia. But what this place does exceptionally well is food and service. The attentiveness was perfect - not obsequious, not absent. I ate lots of different sides and they were all good: the house salad; oven-fired bread; jalapeño hasbrowns; etc. Even though I did not try any of the entrees or steaks, this is clearly a restaurant for people who care about food.

A real beauty, only to be dreadfully disapointed by the excessively mustard coated peices of lump crab meat. . Unfortunately, the dish was returned due to being inedible. The server explained the crabcakes are made earlier in the day not at order. Suggestion, approach with caution unless you favor ball park mustard in excessive quantities. The chopped coleslaw accompanied the order allowed for an addition insult...a mouthful of diced onion. The service was professional and handled this situation without complaint. Hopefully The management will try a tasting and revise recipes, or caution customers.
