The rolls are very meaty. They treat you like family. The management is very nice. They give you so much for the money.

Friend enjoyed her food - had no issues. My food was very inconsistent. My saba/mackerel sashimi was not fresh; texture was sort of firm - not tender. My fried Shrimp Tempura was definitely old. Had to spit it out into a napkin. Conversely, my Super Philadelphia roll was huge and perfect. Salmon seemed fresh. Also my seaweed salad was perfect. Service was excellent. Chef tried to re-make scallop to my order, but I did not like it. Waitress took it back and they did not charge me. Ambience was ...tired. Menus were beat up. Place was nearly empty at 1pm. An AYCE place that delivers when you're really, really hungry, but otherwise would definitely pass. We only came here because our previous AYCE place closed down and nostalgia amongst our group brought us to desparately search for another AYCE restaurant. Environment: When you enter the restaurant, there is no front of house staff, and you have to walk past the front stand before you're acknowledged by anyone. There were many open tables on this Thursday night, so we were able to sit down quickly. The ambiance was pleasant, as you'd expect from a sushi restaurant, and it was clean and didn't smell fishy. The service wasn't great-- we had to ask for basically everything at our table except plates (i.e. napkins, chopsticks, water, and soy sauce cups). We were also given a funny stare when we asked for a third AYCE ordering menu. This is an AYCE place... right? Food: The sushi was sub-par to average at best. The rolls/nigiri were garnished and presented well on the plates and looked appetizing; however, these rolls were LOADED with rice and only a strip fish. The fish barely met the quality that you'd expect from an AYCE place, and some of it felt gamey, like it had been frozen and thawed. Definitely could tell they were trying to cut corners here. The price point in December 2022 is $29.99/person, which seems like a steep ramp up from just a few months ago based on other Yelpers' reviews. Given the quality and ratios of fish/ingredients to rice, we don't think that's fair. An upside (and a probable cause for the lower quality) for this AYCE place is that they have one of the larger selections of rolls/nigiri that we've seen. The redeeming quality here are the appetizers. The absolute star appetizer is the Jalapeno poppers (4.5/5); we highly recommend getting those and all of the other appetizers they have to offer (other stars are the cocktail shrimp (4/5) and crab rangoons). All of the appetizers were hot, cooked to order, and appeared really fresh. Rating: 2.5/5, poor service, sub-par sushi. The appetizers are this restaurant's saving grace for this rating, but not enough for it to earn the 3/5. Nonetheless, we left really full after 4 rounds, but the quality was obviously lacking. Chances are, we'll be searching for another AYCE place in the Chicago suburbs. read more

I really appreciate the atmosphere at this place! Super clean, great service! I LOVE THAT IT ISN'T CRAZY LOUD! It takes us a while to do AYCE sushi and it's awful when you can't have a conversation without shouting for 2 hours! We've gone as a couple, with friends, and with our kids (under 10). Place needs an update. The reviews I read on some of the websites were inaccurate. Very disappointed with ambiance and food. I feel like I've been catfished after reading some of the reviews online. The reviews were good, but when we got there and had the food, it was very disappointing. After reading the small note on the table about getting a discount if you leave a review online, I realized that the reviews as of current are very false. Maybe when it was newly opened, I'm sure the place was very nice and food was good. But unfortunately, I cannot agree with the current reviews. They messed up our order and thankfully not charged for it. But I wouldn't expect it any other way. The taste of the food was just off. I don't think they are even using Sushi rice? At least the cooked appetizers were fairly decent. The place really needs an update. Right when you walk in there was just dirt on the floor and napkins by the sushi station. I did not even go to the bathroom because I knew if the main area looked like a mess, I'm sure the bathroom is worse. The server, who I'm guessing is the owner was nice. But nothing out of the ordinary. I'm never ever going to come back. I feel like an idiot, suggesting it to my friends. Customer service is terrible!! There was nobody at the front to sit us down and the employee was just staring at us and I had to ask him if we can just sit. Once we sat down and ordered the server never came back to us after he gave us the food. We were done and waited 20 minutes and nobody came to check on us or gave us the check. I had to walk up to the front to ask him if I pay with him up here and he said "sure" and then stopped in the middle of trying to pay to sit two people down who just walked in. Sushi was mushy and shrimp was rubbery and overcooked. The "spicy" was just Siracha. Udon was well made however had an odd tang flavor in the broth, I have mixed opinions, also a dump of breadcrumbs on top which is unnecessary. Waitress was shy and asked me if I enjoyed the food. I can't say I did, but she was friendly. Tables were sticky and whole place needed a nice wash. Very cool decorations and atmosphere however the front entrance was clustered and full of boxes and just clutter. I hope they can improve. read more

The crab rangoon appetizer was actually my favorite part and it was really good--cooked evenly, warm, small, light breading. But for an all you can eat location, it was an odd/bad experience going to an ayce place, and actively choosing not to eat more (even though we weren't full) because the taste wasn't worth it. There was way too much rice in the rolls and nigiri pieces. The rice itself was a little bit too sticky, so they cooked it too mushy. And something about the seaweed in the rolls, tasted off to me. This place was okay. My sister and I were on a venture to find a new All-You-Can-Eat sushi restaurant. This one in Clarendon Hills was around 35 minutes away from us, but we decided to try it. The sushi was very mediocre. Some rolls were falling apart, and we just didn't like a lot of their ingredients (like their spicy mayo and other sauces). The service was very slow despite it being super dead. Usually I'm very understanding with wait times for getting your meal because I was a server myself for years, so I get it. But in this case, it was just so dead and I saw a good amount of workers at the front of the house and in the back of the house, so I didn't understand what the hold up was. I saw a lot of servers doing side work, like rolling silverware and putting together menus, but no one really come around a lot by us. We waited a while for our sushi rolls and they came out around 10 minutes apart. Overall, I don't think I'd come here again. It wasn't a terrible experience or anything, but it just doesn't feel worth it coming back here again. read more

There is a lack of variety for the lunch menu. Highlight was the fish to rice ratio. Rolls (7/10) Ordered a variety of special rolls and regular rolls. Lunch doesn't include unagi nigiri but it does include a unagi roll. Would recommend the Christmas roll. Appetizers (7/10) Would recommend the crab puffs. It is a mini crab rangoon that has a good ratio of filling to wrapper. Gyoza was also good. Vegetable tempura needed salt. The server asked if there were any vegetables that we didn't want. (Which was a bonus). There was also a lack of variety in this category. Overall this AYCE sushi restaurant is solid for the price. The quality of the fish was above average and the nigiri have very little rice. There was good service and little wait time after ordering. read more

We ordered via GrubHub for delivery at nearby Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook. I'm sure it would have been even better to experience our meals in-person, but we decided to play it safe and eat in our room. Beautiful food. Miso soup and two vegetable rolls for me. My husband got a sushi platter, a couple of eel pieces, soup, and salad. Everything was fresh and delicious, and a good price. I mistakenly ordered Spring Rolls, thinking they were vegetarian, like spring rolls from a Thai restaurant. They are not vegetarian. My husband ate them instead. About $65 for two people, with service fee, delivery, and tip added. Not including drinks or dessert. We got those out of a vending machine at the hotel. If you are staying at the Hyatt Lodge, highly recommend this sushi restaurant for delivery! We will definitely do this again! read more

Service was lackluster, waitress barely tended to us. Also took her 5 minutes to get our drinks and utensils after we were sat down when the restaurant was empty. The interior of the restaurant was also severely outdated, menus were sticky and old. Bathrooms also stunk. Menus did not have any pictures of the sushi rolls. The food itself was horrid, absolutely inedible. Took a few bites before me and my family decided the food was too disgusting to continue eating. But, they must be under a new ownership recently. We had the AYCE dinner. Placed our selections on the sheet. Upon delivery of the appetizer sides, salads and soups... they bring you more than what was ordered. Why? In an attempt over fill your stomachs right away. We mentioned to the waitress lady and she said, "don't worry about it. Don't eat it then". ( What a waste of food)! Now comes the sushi platter. On the platter is definitely more sushi than we ordered. Again, we tell the waitress lady that there are extra pieces of everything!! Why? Again to over fill your stomachs and so the customers don't frequently order again. Again, she says, then don't eat it. Waste of food!! We could not finish the food We will not be coming back. Service was lousy. Neither the waitress lady nor the waiter guy came back to check on our table. The came once to take the order. Served the food and lastly, came with the bill. Believe the bad reviews. Bigger, messier rolls don't add up to "value". $29 AYCE here is not worth the price. A bit smelly and messy at the entrance. Sushi chefs were visible, three young men with baseball caps turned backwards, working hard and fast. No matter what we ordered on the menu, it all took 5 minutes to get to our table. Not a good sign. Pros: Nice tables, mostly clean. Wait staff attentive. Cons: Sticky spots on the menus. Mushy fish in the rolls, had an unpleasant aftertaste. Had all the same brown sweet sticky drizzle over the top of specialty rolls. Gobs of sticky rice in the rolls, they were literally falling apart. Warm rolls=lukewarm. Fried appetizers cooked inconsistently. Even the beef roll was cold, tasteless and a disappointment. I filled up on tea and Coke, it helped to settle my stomach and get through the meal. I love sushi and have eaten decent AYCE before. This place is a hard pass. I will not be back. They cut corners, DO NOT GAMBLE ON YOUR HEALTH. Bad shellfish and seafood is no joke. Found this place during my visit to the west suburbs; decided to go based on the high reviews. Easy to find, accessible, good sized parking lot. Very polite staff, low key but nice service. Sushi quality is not 5-star caliber but for an AYCE it's very good; the amount of rice used, for Nigiri, is the right size, perhaps a little more than normal but in no way I would call it "excessive". An interesting part is that with the AYCE menu they give you a small menu for AYCE shashimi! That was a nice surprise. The menu, unlike most AYCE places, includes 1 piece per order so it's easier to manage your ordering. Fish was fried, especially the tuna. Two things that they can improve upon : 1. The people preparing the Nigiri are not Asian and it shows; the fish is not "bonded" with the rice and it just hangs on top of it; when you take a piece and want to dip it in the sauce, huh ha w to be careful so the fish does not fall away. 2. A/C: I don't if it's intentional but they keep the place too cold; it's 47 degrees outside and the A/c was blowing hard. Is it so people don't stay long and don't each too much? When we walked in, the server was far away and waved us to follow her. It would have been more professional for her to officially greet us and walk us down to the table. They had 3 juice boxes ready to go on the table for my 3 kids which I thought was awesome! The menu/ordering process is easy, but the server didn't explain or ask if we'd been there- that would have been better since we were first timers. All of the sushi we ordered, abs crab Rangoon was all very delicious! The all you can eat is not a bad price considering we got 7 rolls, and crab Rangoons for $52. Im a crab Rangoon snob, and I loved this one. The place itself is a bit grimy- they need a good cleaning/updating/remodeling. I see my family going back again sometime in the future! There's sushi and then there's life altering sushi. This is the latter. I have been on the hunt for a new AYCE sushi place as our usual was starting to get, well too usual. I wanted a new menu and boy did Sakura Nami knock it out of the park. They have so much selection! The best part is that both appetizers and sushi were equally as great. For appetizers we ordered bulgogi, crab rangoons, shumai, and vegetable tempura. Y'all, the crab rangoons and shumai were addicting. Definitely do yourself a favor and get the shumai. It was my favorite. Now for the sushi. Oh the sushi. First off, I love that they just had so many selections. I don't remember every single one we got but all I know is that they were solid. But the best of the best were King Kong and the Lion King. We ordered that maybe like four times. The Lion King is baked and there's literally mozzarella on top? So strange but so delicious. The King Kong is fried and that crunch with the sauce was perfect. The Hawaiian roll, Mexican roll, Tiger roll, Yummy Yummy were all good. But the winners are definitely the earlier ones I mentioned. I was hesitant to choose this place because of the recent lower reviews but honestly, I loved it. Yes, there was a lot of rice in the sushi but that's most sushi places. If it's AYCE, there will always be way too much rice to get you fuller sooner. I didn't think the sushi was hard to cut and messy (except for the Lion King since it's baked and there's mozzarella on top- but what do you expect...? It's cheese, mozzarella at that. It's gonna be messy!). We were stuffed by the end of it all. So much so that we were pointing fingers at who ordered what and therefore, was required to finish it. We came almost an hour before closing. We were basically only 25 minutes into actual eating when it was last call so we over-ordered. I guess they took pity on us and allowed us to take whatever we didn't finish home with no additional charge since we had limited time. That was very kind of them and we were so grateful! It tasted excellent even a day later (pro tip: pop them in an airfryer, NOT the microwave. Thank me later). Service was great. The food was great. The price was great. I mean what more can you ask for? Dinner is $19/$27 per person lunch/dinner but that's completely fair in my opinion for AYCE. They even do happy hr dinner for 15% off AYCE. I've never heard of that before! Alas, this is our new AYCE sushi spot added in our go-tos rotation. I can't believe we've missed this place. Please come support Sakura Nami!
