So I think it is still a good deal. $8 for the specials. I took away 1 star because I got a piece of dried fish in my eggplant. Which was fine with me cause I love dried fish but it makes me think their quality control is only average. But if you don't mind that, the food is decent Cantonese cuisine. I noticed they changed the containers from styrofoam to the black plastic ones. I honestly think there is less volume in the black ones so the quantity is less now than when I went last.(another reason to take down a star!). But for the price, I will still go back. I remembered to take a photo of the menu. I kinda wonder if it is available after 430pm, but I didn't ask cause I was there early enough

    Dinner for 6

While exploring China Town, we picked this restaurant, because we saw other people eating inside and our server was very welcoming. It's a great place for 5 people parties and up. We picked a combo dinner for 6, and were happy with our choice, because we're very hungry. I highly suggest you this deal: it's diverse, has many items, comes with rice, veggies and spring rolls. Good came quick and sizzling hot. The service is very attentive and friendly. Great place to visit and try Chinese food!

時菜雞炒麵 chicken fried noodle lunch special.

That Umbrella Guy @ Rol Jui. Came for lunch. It was pretty empty, which probably isn't a good sign compared to other chinese restaurants downtown at lunch time. Could be the weather, but today is pretty nice. Service is alright. Lighting is a bit dim to me but that's because I would like all the lighting I can get for pictures since my phone isn't good in low-light. They advertise $5.99 cash-only lunch specials which comes with a free soup. Ordered the chicken fried noodles (with vegetables 時菜雞炒麵), cause I like the crispy egg noodles that cantonese restaurants make. Chicken was really salty, and the vegetables were really greasy but still had no real flavour. Noodles were nice and crispy, but that's about the only thing I enjoyed. The free soup is a bit difficult to judge. It sort of tasted like a pork-bone based soup, though the colour was very opaque, the flavour was very light and you could taste hints of water added afterwards. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to taste but it wasn't anything special. Portion size was massive (enough for two, maybe three), but flavour wasn't there. They also charged $7, which does not seem consistent with the advertised price. I just assumed they included tip. Don't know if this kind of experience is only with their deals.

    Szechuan chicken

I came here with a group of friends for the lunch special. All lunch specials were $7.50 and it had a good variety of choices. I order the Szechuan chicken with rice. The dish was not spicy at all. It tasted more sweet like they used Thai sweet chili sauce to make the dish. The celery was not peeled so there were still long strings that you couldn't digest. Service was slow only one dish came out at a time. The person bring it to your table was a little kid! I made the wrong choice by coming here. I talked to my other friends they said they didn't like their food either.

First time came here on a Friday night ! Food is good , especially the daily pot soup , sweet and fascinating! We ordered the lobster combo , it came with the beef ribs , goji Spanish, and of course , Chinese traditional wine steam double lobster . My bf brought me here and recommended this is a traditional Hong Kong style restaurant, the dishes here are different from other new restaurants opened within this decade! I liked it a lot and I will come back try other dishes ! Strongly recommend this place , much better than other Chinese uptown restaurants !!!!!!!!!

An authentic Chinese restaurant. There were huge menus on the walls with mouth-watering pictures of menu items. Maybe because it was we were all Asian, or maybe because we ordered in Chinese, but the waiter didn't offer to suggest anything to us or offered us forks - which I think is probably more of a positive thing. The service was good for a Chinese restaurant, the waiters asked us if we needed white rice and served the soup for us when it came out. We had the seafood & fish maw soup, spicy beef and scallop & veggie dish (all with white rice). It was all very good, and reasonably priced. I would recommend this restaurant. The reason for only 3 star is that there was not one particular thing that popped out, when compared with other Chinese restaurant's I've been to. I also don't like how there are bugs in the red vinegar (but this is very typical of the vinegar in Chinese restaurants that keep the vinegar on the table). The decor is also not that nice, but better than most Chinese restaurants that are owner owned.

We intended to go to House of Gourmet but there was a huge line up on Friday night. Instead, we walked down the street and decided to try Rol Jui. We were seated quickly and received menus. After a minute, they asked if were ready to order - we needed more time! They came by two more times before we finally decided on the stir fried scallops in black bean sauce. While we were waiting for our food, I checked the Yelp reviews and was a little concerned since I hadn't seen any recent ones. However, the food came out very quickly and it was piping hot and delicious. I'll stick to House of Gourmet as my go-to but wouldn't mind coming back:

    Beef and Choi Sum

Greeted by enthusiastic waitresses as my friends and I stepped into this restaurant one evening. Menus on the wall, plastic tablecloth, seems like a typical Chinese restaurant. Their kitchen is in the basement, and food is transported via a dumbwaiter. We ordered Beef and Choi Sum, Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetable, and Eggplants with Minced Pork en Casserole. The meal came with complimentary Pork and Vegetable Soup, and Red Bean and Tapioca for dessert. All the dishes were delicious, although the Braised Pork tasted a little different than what I'm used to. It was less spicy and had spinach underneath the meat. This dish took a while to make, so make sure you put this order in when you first arrive, as our friendly waitress suggested. Meal was satisfactory, price was great, staff was welcoming, will come back for other dishes in the future.

I never understand why my mom love their lobsters so much, this is her go to place for lobster. Their lobsters are really just mediocre-average. Everything else tasted decent, quite greasy, nothing stands out. I have to admit I really enjoy the taro tapioca dessert at the end of the meal. Great service, decent food, price is fair. 3.5/5

Cozy atmosphere and the service was kind, making us feel relaxed. Maybe too relaxed that we ordered dessert even after being stuffed already. Starting with the mvp of the meal, the dessert - Sticky Toffee Pudding, did not disappoint. In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was the best I've had. Tender snd delicate cake, ample syrup and the twist was some sort of sour tamarind or cherry candy on top. Perfect! The grilled mackerel was also absolutely divine. Really well prepared and meaty. The mussel dish was incredible too. The broth was gingery, garlicky and coconuty and very comforting to have on a cool night! I wish they had some sort of dry bread to go with it. However, the only bread option, focaccia was ordered. The focaccia was lovely on its own! Not an ideal pairing with the mussels but not bad either. I would absolutely revisit!

The restaurant was surrounded in tanks full of lobster, crab, seafood and then a ton of dry aged steaks. Definitely something you don't see in California. Clean and spacious. Service was what you would expect from a Chinese seafood restaurant. Overall the meal was good, for me and a few others at the table the star of the show was actually the fish. The lobster while impressive when they brought it out was not as flavorful as one would have expected. And same with the king crab legs - my favorite have been the ones I've had in SF. Was interesting to come and experience it but I wouldn't come back. I prefer quality food over an IG-moment.

There are specials that change weekly. The interior is decorated with New Orleans memorabilia, medium lit, cozy (not large), with jazz music in the background. Service was attentive and friendly. They operated for 30 years at their old location. This location soft-opened on 2026-02-12. We came on 2026-02-25 for dinner. There were still some furnishings to complete (there were unforeseen delays). They kept the same menu offerings but it will be expanded within a month. We ordered the following: 1. Citra Terre D'Abruzzo Pinot Grigio - Italy (glass $14.95). 2. Coke. 3. Crab Cakes ($19.95). 4. New Orleans Shrimp Cocktail ($19.95). 5. Jambalaya Aranchini (weekly special). 6. Blackened Lamb Chops (weekly special). 7. New Orleans Fisherman's Plate ($39.95). 8. Pecan Pie warmed with Ice Cream ($14.95). 9. Bananas Foster ($14.95). 10. Beignet ($14.95). Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037
