Came here for a friend's birthday - didn't enter from the front so I didn't get to see the cool entrance but that's ok! The interior is cozy and retro. We ordered the 10 skewer set, tako wasabi, clam soup, truffle cream udon, scallop and kiwi appetizer. Ordered their sawa (sour) cocktail - yuzu was delicious! Will be back to try other items :)

The first time we came here, the ambiance was good. The music was not too loud, and we could converse within our group. The service was good as well (note that there was only one person serving), so it took some time to get the server's attention, but overall it was great. As for the food, I liked only one dish that we ordered: the Truffle Creamy Udon. The skewers we ordered were not what I expected, as the sauce for them was not good. It was either too salty or a bit bland; they all tasted the same. But if you want to try the place out, do it; not everyone has the same taste buds.

The food was delicious, we did go a bit late so it was pretty quiet here. The restaurant is a bit small but definitely worth the check out, service was really good. As there were so quick to get our order out and correct any mistakes

Wanted to give this place a try and wasn't disappointed. The food was decent and service was good considering it was one girl dealing with 5 tables at the same time. She was very polite and timely. The decor is what you would expect, more traditional than super fancy. My only complaint would be we got the 10 skewer set and didn't realize the chicken with leek was spicy. Minor thing to watch for. I would give them a try at least once.

Made reservations for 6:30pm on a Thursday afternoon there was 2-3 seatings at the time. The start was great we order a pitcher of Sapporo $22 it came with cold mugs ! We were expecting with this level of detail things would be good going forward but... First order Oysters - pretty good Yakitori's Chicken cartilage Gizzard Chicken skin Wing Tigh Liver It was all cold...... Second order Yakitori's Shitaki mushroom Okra Ribeye Tigh with scallions Tigh with cheese It was hot this time, but the taste..was just ok Third order Yakitori's Chicken meatballs - tastes like the Swedish meat balls from ikea Chicken meatballs with cheese - same as above but with cheese Porkbelly - thin Miso egg plant- pretty good Octopus - mm..it was okay Ordered scallops with kiwi (raw) took forever to arrive...to the point we thought they forgot and was about to cancel.. Everything came hot this round too ! 4th round Yakitori's Wagyu- SO NOT WORTH IT FOR $20 and the taste was very game...it was very small and tiny.. Shrimp- good size ..ok Heart- nothing special Tigh spicy oil- nothing special chilly oil is the Chinese type Mental undo - very very very very very very disappointed the udon was sooooooooo soft...it was VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY mushy Tokyo fries - it was okay will reorder Order came hot ! Overall, you can choose your own sauce or spice type but some are fixed so you can't. Total cost of my bill was $225 w/tax and tips. When made reservations indicate birthday but nothing happens. When paying for my bill server asked how were things told them about the udon..didn't get any response back. They offered other tables who speak Korean refills on complimentary popcorn but none to the non speaking ones. Overall not a Japanese yakitori place and parking maybe difficult as well. Will not be returning back.

Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Food: 3/5 Came with a group of 5 other people to this relatively new izakaya. We ordered too many different foods to really review one by one, so I'll some up it up simply. To start off, I have to say that my review is a little biased because I lived in Japan and also visited South Korea several times in my life so my expectations are (and possibly forever will be) higher than most people. And in so, I'm a lot harsher when it comes to the food part of my reviews. I'll start with the ambiance and decor. The outside is very sleek, with a somewhat hard to find door to the place. My friend accidentally went into the izakaya right beside it because they couldn't find the door to this place. The inside was kind of cute, with lanterns and wall paintings mimicking what you could find in Japan. The place was also quite spacious and we sat comfortably as medium sized group. The service was okay, nothing to really comment about. Food came in a timely manner. One point to highlight was they gave us extra sauce free of charge for our skewers. The food was...mediocre. I didn't have high expectations going in so it didn't really fail in that regard. The skewers were a good size, with the grilled eel (unagi) being possibly the better of all of the ones we ordered. I think overall the skewers were kind of dry, and some lacked flavour. The soup, okonomiyaki and chicken, which were the food we ordered that were not skewers, was kind of oily. Again, the flavour was kind of lacking in these too, but they weren't bad. We also got free popcorn, which was kind of a plus? I think as an izakaya, Mokutan is a place I'd recommend especially because it's one of the better ones not downtown. If you're looking for a sizeable menu, I think you're going to be satisfied with the healthy number of options. As for if I'd come again...i don't think so, unless I was really craving skewers and can't find anywhere else.

First time at Mokutan. Located at Yonge and steeles. Definitely not the best place if you are not comfortable with parking. Lack of parking in the back but I suppose street parking is a option. Food: it's ok I find most of the skewers on the dryer side. The shrimps weren't as fresh texture wise as I would expect. The cheese corn was also very oily and not so creamy but flavours were great. So I am taking a star off for this overall. I do recommend their udon options they were quite tasty. Service: it's a little la long but I think that's due to how the restaurant is designed, it's narrow and it's rather loud if you were seated in the back as we were getting the servers attention was a bit difficult. Overall: it's ok. Nothing to write home about but I would definitely return.

Grilled octopus wasn't hot enough, portion was small

Very nicely decorated Korean Izakaya (Japanese pretended to be) with good service. Food was fine except for not hot enough (temperature wise). Didn't like the octopus because portion was small and it wasn't really grilled. Still a good choice to hang out with friends for couple of drinks. Just a friendly reminder, it's hard to find parking.

One can easily be shared between 2 people. Given the size, the price is very reasonable. Basically the same price as a tea at one of the very many surrounding tea shops. The toppings were generous so you could have matcha and red bean with every bite, even though the serving of sorbet is huge. Cash only. Seemed like there were a few parking spots in front.

The interior is bright, warm, and lively. It is a cute cafe style restaurant serving various Sichuan eats. This review however, will be solely based on their desserts as we came for just that. Their dessert section is quite small. Most of the items were sold out. We got a sparkling lychee soda,, an almond tofu soup, white fungus & jujube soup, and coconut milk and jelly. The white fungus dessert was so good. It had a syrupy consistency and the soup was not very sweet. It had a nice herbal scent. The almond soup isn't my favourite, but was quite refreshing. The lychee drink was very refreshing, I highly recommend if you love lychee. The coconut dessert was super rich and creamy. I really enjoyed eating the jelly bits. Overall, the desserts themselves were so refreshing and light!

I've been dealing with some dental pain, and my partner is just getting over a nasty cold, so we wanted something gentle, nourishing, and easy on the body - not a heavy, greasy brunch. Bonjuk's whole vibe of "comfort food with heart" really delivered. We'd only done takeout before, so this was our first time dining in. The space is small but really welcoming - warm lighting, clean and simple decor, and comfortable seating that makes you want to slow down and relax. It's not a huge place, so there aren't tons of indoor seats, but that also gives it a cozy, intimate feel. Service was friendly and low‑pressure, which we appreciated when we were both feeling a bit under the weather. We ordered the Chicken Porridge ($23) and the Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap ($24), both for dine‑in (prices don't include tax and tip). The chicken porridge was savoury, and soothing, with a rich broth that felt healing without being heavy. It was easy to eat with my sore teeth and left me feeling comforted, not stuffed. The beef bulgogi bibimbap was a nice contrast - colourful, fresh, and full of flavour. The bulgogi was sweet, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the mix of veggies and egg made it feel like a balanced, healthy meal. It's definitely a step up from typical brunch fare if you're looking for something lighter but still satisfying. One thing that really stood out was their baby porridge menu. It's such a thoughtful touch - separate, gentle, low‑salt options for little ones. As someone who's seen new parents struggle to find safe, easy meals out, this felt genuinely helpful and kind. It's easy to see why their marketing feels like they actually care about making food that's good for people, not just trendy. If you're looking for the best value, I'd say go for takeaway. We noticed a steady stream of takeout orders, and the overall costs are slightly lower that way, especially when there are discounts offered by different order platform. Overall, Bonjuk Canada is a good spot when you want something comforting, healthy, and easy on the stomach - whether you're recovering from illness, have dental issues, or just want a more mindful brunch.

(NGL~ i wanted to try it earlier but i always see a line and i just gave up) I went in on a Sunday Afternoon, wasnt too busy so i felt lucky! There arent as many food items to choose from comparing to other Thai Reso so do check the menu before coming I got the beef tom yum soup noodles (rice noodles) and the Pad See Ew. It took around 10 minutes for the food to be served (not slow but wont say fast). Flavor was good, relatively more on the saltier/favorable side. Tom yum soup was more on the tangy(sour-y) side but still tasted good. The beef brisket was kinda hard to choose, but it wasn't for all the pieces, so the good ones were nice and tender, but some i just had to spit it out Overall 4/5. I dont think im going to come back as there are other Thai reso i prefer but always nice to try new things.
