We decided on Roladin because we'd been here once before and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It's located in a strip mall between a CVS and Ross. It's unassuming on the outside, with a small patio area and charming on the inside. My friend got the last table available and we sat down and looked forward to ordering a delicious lunch. We started with the Zucchini Tempura (which was really delicious BTW) as a starter. I ended up getting the Salmon Scramble and she got the Pear Salad. Everything was very, very good and satisfying. Service was attentive as we enjoyed each other's company and the meal. This is a great little spot for brunch or to catch up with a friend. They have a baked goods section and a full menu. We came for an early dinner, looking forward to dining at this restaurant. When we arrived we noticed the place was very clean and bright with modern decor. We were immediately greeted by a friendly server. We asked to be seated on the outside patio and were surprised to see folks smoking so we were happy to be seated on the opposite end of where the smoker was seated. My hubby ordered a minty lemonade drink which was refreshing and tasty. The server was kind and offered a small glass for me to try also. We ordered the roasted whole cauliflower which came with tahini on the side. The cauliflower was presented on a plate with two small bowls of tahini. It was a tad mushy making cutting quite easy. My hubby's sabich consisted of a pita, mashed sautéed eggplant, pickles and a sliced hard boiled egg. The sandwich lacked overall flavor and was served with an Israeli salad and tahini. I ordered an ahi shawarma sandwich in a pita. Now for $15.95, I expected more ahi, instead I got warm ahi crumbles, with shreds of iceberg lettuce, pickle slices, a small amount of diced tomato on a pita. I was so surprised with my first bite to find the pita bread to be cold. It got warmer as I took a few more bites towards the center of the sandwich. My sandwich was also served with tahini and an Israeli salad. I usually like tahini as well as an Israeli salad. However, on this occasion the food was all just plain bland. The person behind the counter didn't seem very knowledgeable and gave my husband and I two different prices for items and two different version of comes with each plate. However, the falafel were some of the best I've had, while at the same time bot quite executed correctly. Let me elaborate. The filling was seasoned perfectly and tasted delicious and had a wonderful texture. Roladin is a great little European restaurant/bakery tucked away in a strip mall in the valley. It is a kosher restaurant, so the dishes are mostly vegetarian with some fish choices mixed in. They also serve some Israeli specialties such as burrekas. The menu is extensive and a little overwhelming. I decided to try the pizza with pesto, mozzarella, and sun dried tomatoes. This was an excellent choice. The pizza was big enough to bring some home for lunch the next day. But seriously, we were here for the desserts. Everything I tasted was excellent. My favorite was the triple chocolate mousse. Wow! The dessert case is extensive and there is a large variety to choose from. The cookies looked amazing. I definitely need to return and try some more! I was here with a large party and we were helped by Joy. She expertly helped our party and kept things running smoothly. She packed up my pizza to go and kept it at the counter for me since space at our table was limited. It's the little things like this that make a dining experience better. I don't need some pretty waitress plate up my pastries and decorate them. They were really pretty looking but they weren't very good. The hazelnut chocolate cream pyramid thingy was too hard and tasted like a hard piece of chocolate. The assorted nut tart had a very spicy taste to it, with ginger, it was super sweet with a strange caramel sauce. 2 pastries came up to be like 16 or 17 bucks, so I just left a $20. Seriously? Honestly, this place has the best baguettes I have ever had. I love how it's fluffy AND crispy it is (without being so hard that it hurts the top of my mouth).
