With that said, I'll start by stating the scope of our project - we needed full front and back landscape, remove all shrubs, grass, plants, rock (kept large trees and cactus), needed all new drip system, paver walkways, front courtyard with pavers, paver spa pad, paver patio under orange trees, other paver pads, drainage pipe under grass from gutter, all new plantings, rock, boulders - you get the drift - a lot !! We started where we started in the past, bidding the project to a couple of design, build landscape firms. WELL, you can tell people are at home and working on house / yard projects (with Covid keeping us close to home) because these companies felt they could really jack up their prices. YIKES !! So we thought we would ask our landscaper Angel if he did this type of work. Mind you, we have lived here about 5 months and Angel has handled our bi-weekly landscape needs perfectly. I never really gave it an original thought to ask him. Well I am glad I asked him. His company, Mountain View Landscaping DOES handle all of this type of work (and more). Angel came over within days, we walked through the project and our ideas. He brought up excellent points during that discussion and helped us shape up the plan. I provided him a detailed list of what we were looking to do. He was quick to get back to me with a quote. WOW!! More than half of what the other places quoted - for the same scope. I did some checking on Angel and his company and everything checked out well. The neighbors at the end of street used him a while back for their landscape project and were very happy. Their scope was not as large as ours, but their place looked good. Some more back and forth discussion and another visit or two here at the house and we were ready to pull the trigger and get things moving. Angel said he would handle getting all of the materials for the project. What Angel soon found out was that we were very hands on. We were very involved with the project, and what I mean by that is I didn't feel the need to watch his every move, he knows what he is doing, but the project took several turns/changes along the way because we changed our minds a few times. Additional items added to the list and other changes. Angel was very accommodating and never was upset by any of it. He kept saying "if that is what you want, we will make it happen" - and he did !! As I stated earlier, we have worked on several landscape projects over the years and interior remodel projects. I have to say, Angel and his team did what they said they would do, on budget and they were here every day working. No needing to call and see where they were at. No waiting for days for someone to show up. Angel was easy to communicate with and easy to reach by phone or text. He was here at the jobsite the majority of the time. In the end, the project turned out better than expected. Angel gave his recommendations along the way with the plan and the changes. We appreciated his expertise. The only thing left to finish is the painting on the courtyard wall, but the stucco has to dry/cure first. We have that planned for yet this week and I have no concerns he will get that handled. I have to highly recommend Angel and his crew - they were great, reliable, professional. Every day the job site was cleaned up (as best as possible) before they left. Gates were secured and equipment moved to side so it did not interfere with our daily use of the yard while under construction. Thank you Angel - we look forward to you continuing to maintain our yard - now on a weekly basis since we have so much new grass and plants.

He also continued asking about what other bids we'd been given, and how much they were for. Frankly, I think he should understand that the estimates we are soliciting will be part of competitive bid for our projects, and my experience is that people who behave in this manner, asking about other bids and floating prices to gauge our reaction, aren't likely to give us a decent or honest bid for our projects. If his haphazard "estimate" is merely a matter of backing into a number, we'd rather not play this game: it's too likely to be a bad experience. Andy obviously doesn't care, but his potential customers should. Perhaps your experience will be different, but in my experience, these behaviors usually earmark dishonest intent... certainly not good business practices.

Andy does a lot of talking but not a lot of listening. When we scheduled the job, there was all sorts of miscommunication about time frames, not understanding us etc. We were quoted one price and discovered before they did the work that price was for smaller product than what we wanted and were clear about. I agreed to pay almost $1000.00 more becauseof his not understanding our wants. The 1k was for overage because the pieces were larger. When the crew was cleaning up, they had almost a full pallet of product left over that they loaded on to their trailer. I have a security camera and have video of them loading the product into their trailer. Of course I wanted credit for the product they didn't use but Andy gave us some BS about how it cost more to install the larger pieces. He tried to Mansplain why he was ripping us off. I would not contact Agave Landscape for any project that you need done. They are dishonest and lack simple communication. There are plenty of other companies that will provide good service and communication.
