I've heard these breakfast burritos are the go to if you want a breakfast burrito and that statement couldn't be more right. This is a burger joint with a diverse menu, including one of the biggest breakfast burritos in town. I got my burrito with bacon. The burrito comes with hashbrown style potatoes, eggs and cheese - you get a choice of ham, bacon or sausage for your meat (or have it without meat). The bacon was crispy and remained crispy when I reheated my other half. Not only is the bacon crispy, the burrito has a generous amount of it! Oh and the other plus - the tortilla does not come wet and soggy and remains in perfect condition if you have leftovers. The burrito comes with only one salsa and to be honest, you really do need two for such a big burrito. I'm a green salsa girl but I asked what I should go with and I was recommended the red one (the green one is supposedly spicier). The red salsa did not disappoint other than I needed one more for my whole burrito (there's no kick to this salsa but it's tasty). The burrito itself isn't bursting with flavor on its own and it requires the salsa to compliment the other ingredients. But, who eats a breakfast burrito without salsa? There is ample parking in their parking lot and there's seating both inside and outside. So I was in the area and someone suggested Lucky Boy. Walk up ordering. Tables outside and inside. First impression was that tables in and out needed a cleaning. I always start off my ratings with cleanliness. I worked in a high volume restaurant back in the 70's. If you weren't doing something you were cleaning. Ordered the classic burger, fries and coke. Picked up my order after a short wait. Cleaned off my own table and sat down. Burger looked decent, fries looked amazing and can never say anything bad about a classic coke. First bite of the burger was a little disappointing. Burger was thin and seemed overcooked to me. I thought it was dry. Roll, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo were ok. Not bad overall but for some reason I expected a better burger experience. Let's talk about the fries. Truly classic French fried potatoes. Perfectly cooked. Light golden color. Nice texture and flavor. What every French fry should look and taste like. Coke was great. Sorry to say I was not impressed by the burger. This was my experience on 05/09/2026. Super yummy! This is a great burger spot. My burger was pretty yummy and I loved the chili cheese fries. My husband got a pastrami sandwich and it was huge. The sandwich was loaded with a ton of pastrami! So we took the extra pastrami that was falling out of the sandwich and put it on top of the chili cheese fries and that was super good. I loved the pastrami way more than the pastrami from The Hat. It has a different and better flavor than other pastrami I have had. It is a bit pricey but I do think these are typical prices now since inflation and everything is just more expensive these days. We paid about $36 and got a large drink, a large chili cheese fries, a pastrami sandwich, and a cheese burger. Super yummy and I'll definitely be coming back. This is our first time at Lucky Boy and we our trying their delicious items on thier menu especially their famous pastrami. Friends were telling me go to Lucky Boy in Pasadena and try their burgers and especially their two popular items their breakfast burrito and their famous pastrami. We arrive there and step in the restaurant and look at their menu displaying on the screen,we look and found what we looking for the pastrami we order it and side salad and two drinks. The interior of the restaurant is really nice with awards and pictures of Pasadena and pictures of Lucky Boy through the years. Couple minutes later they our number my pickup our meal,I notice the pastrami was pretty big but the aroma was overwhelming smell of pastrami. Unwrapped the pastrami smell fantastic it was cut in half then I give the other half to wife. I took a bite of my half pastrami I say to my wife OMG so much flavors in the pastrami and very juicy. The juices of the pastrami is so good,the meat was lean and have some fat but fat is good it bring flavor to pastrami that make so good. My wife love the pastrami and enjoy it. I gave this place a try early in the morning. Plenty of parking before 8am on a weekday. It had very retro diner vibes and the service was very quick. The burrito was massive, and it was pretty good. The burrito comes with a side of salsa which was nice. Indoor seating is also available with traditional diner booths. Self serve ketchup, pepper, napkins, & peppers are available as well. The burrito was a 9/10 for me as I felt it needed a bit more seasoning. Overall, a very yummy burrito. The staff were open to questions & very kind. This morning, I saw a breakfast burrito online and wanted to eat a breakfast burrito, so I made a commitment to come here and drive up through the wavy 110n freeway to get a burrito I haven't had for close to a decade. I gotta breakfast avocado burrito and the person I went with got a sausage breakfast burrito. It felt like they put an entire avocado in my burrito. It was hot and steamy all the way through and the salsa just makes it so delightful to eat. The sausage breakfast burrito came with 5 whole pieces of sausage. In addition to the main ingredient, there were crispy hash browns, eggs and cheese in the burritos. Plus they were like maybe 3 times bigger than what you'd find at a typical breakfast burrito joint. All for $11.90 in this economy? I feel that pricing is better than practically anywhere in LA for a breakfast burrito nowadays. The service was quick and attentive. I thought I ordered the breakfast version but I did not. We also ordered a med French fry. The fries were bomb! The hit dog was a good size, and she really liked it. Ok, the burrito was huge and stuffed! It had rice, beans, carne, cheese, guac and pico. I could only eat about a quarter of it. The carne was sliced, not chopped as I thought it was be, but good flavor and tender. The gentleman at the window was very nice, but I felt rushed...especially since it was my first time- I had questions. We went in and grabbed a table and waited no more than 10 minutes for our food. Delicious pastrami chili cheese fries here! Some of the best around. It was my first visit here and i saw people on tik tok talking about them so got on the metro and took a trip. You can catch the blue line all the way to the fillmore station and walk one block here if you want to save gas and time driving in traffic. But yes the pastrami with onions they put on this plate is top notch! You can get a large or small. My picture is the small and is enough for one person to eat! Been coming to this spot on Saturday morning after the gym for years now. It's always the busiest during this time simply because of one thing: their famous breakfast burritos. So this review is only for their breakfast burritos, and not any of their other menu items. Pros: - Large. They stuff a lot of egg, potatoes and your protein in there. You will be full after you eat one and you'll probably have to skip lunch. - Salsa. Their red sauce is delicious and they give you plenty of it. It's not too spicy at all; just enough heat to spice things up. And it tastes fresh. Cons: - Inconsistent. Sometimes the potatoes inside aren't crisped enough and are a bit undercooked. Bacon is often overcooked and will just about wreck the inside of your mouth. - Cut the sausages please. Instead, they just lazily stuff the uncut links inside and there's an uneven distribution of the meat. You'll need to take 3 or 4 bites to get your first taste of sausage. - A little pricey. I got the double cheeseburger with large fries. The cheeseburger is insanely delicious, please get it. The fat steak fries were great too, but when I think of large fries for $5+, I'm expecting a box, not an overfilled sleeve. I thought it would be more fries than what they gave. This is a place that is a Staple of Pasadena. Been here for so long. It a diner with a great Breakfast Burrito. That they are known for. Their portions are big. And it a great bang for your buck. You can get it to go or order in. You have to walk up to the window to order. The 3 meat Breakfast Burrito and the Pastrami sandwich are my favorites here. They are fast to get your meal out. They specialize in quick, casual, large sized to-go orders, however, there is an area where you can eat inside at one of their many booths. I have been here a few times and every time, even if there is a line, I never have to wait long for my order. There is a large free parking lot attached so parking is really easy and plentiful. They have a very large menu with all sorts of different options on it, but for this most recent visit, I got the Double Cheeseburger with avocado and loved it. The patties are really well seasoned, and they threw a ton of avocado on it which I loved. It's just a really great comfort food option and really hits the spot when you're in that mood. Classic, solid Pasadena staple. Haven't been in at least 5 years and I randomly craved a breakfast burrito for dinner so found myself on auto pilot to lucky boy. I like to highlight all the positives first. Parking was easy. Ordering was seamless. And the few employees I talked to or made eye contact with were nice enough. But the food... was so bland? Like there was no flavor at all?! I got a bacon breakfast burrito with fries and it was just tasteless? There was no salt on the fries or seasoning at all in the burrito whether the eggs, potatoes or bacon. The bacon was VERY crispy which is usually always an amazing thing but I think I scratched the roof of my mouth a bit bc the bacon was more on the crouton extreme of crispy. And.. it just wasn't clean. Even though I saw an employee actively cleaning and sweeping inside it's just not a place I'd ever choose to eat in. Which makes me think if I can't eat inside I probably shouldn't eat there at all? But all in all a classic spot for a reason and a place I think everyone should try at least once to say they've had it. I always get : - Sausage Breakfast Burrito w/ green salsa I've had the bacon breakfast burrito, but I think it's too salty for my liking. The back enclosed patio has a couple of tables. The pick up occurs inside but they have speakers so you can hear it sitting outside. The meat was dry and in huge chunks which is not what I would normally see in a carne asada burrito. 2/5 The chili cheese fries had a lot of potential. It was relatively small for a large and was loaded with chilli and cheese. The chilli has been sitting there for a while. We got some burnt crispy chilli. This is becoming my to-go late night, pick-up-on-the-way meal. I get a veggie burger for my partner, and a fish burrito for me. The fish burrito has fried pieces of fish in it (probably frozen cod fillet type stuff), and fresh veggies with a tartar-type sauce. It's really nice and refreshing. I absolutely love breakfast burritos and I came across this video on Facebook highlighting what was claimed to be "Pasadena's Best Breakfast Burrito" for $11.00... I finally talked my sister to go with me and when we got there, the restaurant is small (so is their parking lot) with almost the same number of tables outside as there was inside... they were very busy around noon which seemed to be a positive and they do make breakfast burritos all day, which again, seemed to be a positive... We both ordered bacon and sausage burritos with extra crispy hash browns and two (2) medium Sprites... my sister wanted her burrito cut in half but I didn't and that's what we told them because they do ask when you're ordering... Here's where the problems started and why I gave them a low rating!!! Both burritos were cut in half and neither burrito had crispy hash browns!!! The hash browns were actually mushy!!! My sister was given a bacon and ham burrito and although they add a lot of bacon to their burritos and they chop it so it's mixed throughout the burritos, the sausages were left as whole links and placed together so when the burrito is rolled, all of the sausage is on one side and not mixed through!!! Each bite should be a mix of ingredients and not just bad sausage links!!! The scrambled eggs were over cooked and their salsa is extremely bland and if it's not going to have any spice, then just make it as a pico for more flavor and textural contrast!!! Lastly, the video on Facebook must've been very old because the two (2) burritos and two (2) drinks were more than $35.00!!! Just a complete waste of time, money and the gas it took to drive there!!! If this is "Pasadena's Best Breakfast Burrito" then that's just sad!!! These were clearly not great burritos!!! This morning, I tried the breakfast burrito from Lucky Boy, and it is all that and a FAT SACK OF CHIPS!! The burrito itself was massive. The ratios were perfect. Not too much of any one thing. While the flavor of the ingredients was definitely there, I was a little disappointed in the lack of seasoning. A little salt and pepper at home made it pop. It came with a side of salsa, which complimented the burrito nicely. Salsa wasn't spicy, but that's what Cholula is for! Also got a side of hash browns, which were perfectly cooked but again, under seasoned (just my opinion). Service was super fast and friendly. Restaurant was clean. Will definitely be back!!
