Yes! Yes! Yes! Absolutely delicious! Baja Cali is giving authentic Mexican taco vibes and I'm seriously here for it. I ordered both the beef and fish tacos and they were made spot on. The only thing that threw me was the prepackaged sauce...taking away from the authentic vibe. There were three sauces and all spicy with just the right kick. I ate my tacos for lunch but over ordered and had left overs. Around dinner I just ate the tacos without warming them and they still tasted just as good. My first time here, I ordered the Combo #2 with Baja fish tacos The staff were very friendly and helpful and walked me through the menu and what they recommend since it was my first time. The fish tacos were very good, I wish they were a bit more crunchy but overall a good size and great flavor. The fries paired with the tacos very well and came out hot and crispy. I would highly recommend to order this. The condiments they give, habanero salsa, green salsa, and pickled onions were all very very good and they are generous on the amount they give which I love because most places are very stingy. The restaurant has a small parking lot and there's street parking. Fairly spacious indoor seating. I tried the al pastor fish tacos ($9.99 for 3 tacos and a drink) and 2 regular grilled fish tacos. The food was fine. Just the customer service was bad and distasteful in Pasadena . I have been supporting this business when they had their first few locations before the Pasadena location opened. I paid around $50 and tip for 2 people and I asked if I could have an extra a pepper since I ordered two meals. The lady was giving attitude, really refusing. I told her I paid for 2 meals and each meal should get peppers. Then she proceed to tell me it was one order. Hello do you not understand what was said to you. Last time I was here there was not a problem. So next time I guess I won't be tipping when that worker is working. That gentleman last time was way kinder and more professional. The establishment needs to realize that when a customer pays good money and supports the business. The workers should reflect this. Giving one extra pepper is nothing in the larger scheme of the business. Happy customers will always return. Unhappy and you get a bad review. read more

This spot opened about a year ago, and has a cool speakeasy style entrance at the Highland Park Bowl bowling alley. It is a small space, and I would highly recommend making a reservation on Resy. You have 90 minutes to drink and dine. I parked behind the bowling alley where there is a medium sized pay parking lot. Park in a space, remember your space number painted on the ground, and go to the pay station at the end of the lot. I found the parking machine to be extremely finicky as did other people. After ten minutes of failure, I ended up moving my car to another space, and then it worked. This has nothing to do with the Lucky Tiki, but FYI if you park there. We walked around to the front of the bowling alley, and checked in. Seating options include at the bar, tiki hut booths, and high top tables. The décor inside is a tiki lovers paradise. The room has a high ceiling with many tiki lamps, floats, puffer fish, tiki huts, thatch, ropes, barrels, netting, carvings, a hanging canoe, and a large tiki right in the middle of the space. In addition to the great décor, when you order certain drinks, special effects are triggered. There was also great tiki music playing all evening. We sat at the bar since we always enjoy talking to the bartenders. We actually ran into Skipper Christian in the parking lot on the way in, and he ended up being our main bartender, with Nick and Jo also working behind the bar. We put in a food order right away. The chicken potstickers ($12) came with five tasty bites, and the garlic teriyaki dipping sauce was good. We also had the giant pretzel ($16) which comes with mustard, beer cheese, and ranch sauces. This was excellent, and the perfect filling snack before a bunch of drinks. My first drink was the Siren's Song (Flor de Cana Eco rum, lemon juice, cassis, Oloroso sherry, apricot foam topper, $19). This drink is served in a great mermaid with skull mug and triggers special sound effects and bubbles fill the air. Those bubbles on top of the drink had a great light citrusy apricot flavor, probably the best flavored bubbles I've ever had. The drink itself was very good and balanced with some complexity. She wasn't sure what to order at first, and Christian asked her what flavors she liked. He ended up making a spin on a Tradewinds with some mango and pineapple to go along with the apricot and coconut. It was nicely balanced and not too sweet, even with all that fruit in there. My second drink was the Sun of Suns (Tierra de Acre mezcal, coconut cream, Giffard mango liqueur, pineapple juice, lime juice, $17). This was coconut and pineapple forward with some good smokiness in the background. Her second drink was the Whatever Floats Your Boat (Ford's gin, lemon juice, velvet falernum, orgeat, passion fruit syrup, guava soda, topped with hazelnut passion fruit foam, $19). It is served in a cool boat mug, and triggers thunder sound effects and lighted mechanical Polynesian tiki characters paddling a canoe over the bar. This was another good balanced drink. It was a little gin forward and the passion fruit popped out, maybe from being both in the drink and the foam top. That creamy hazelnut passion fruit form on top is delicious. It was another good tasting, perfectly sized snack, and the crust was light and airy. We were already fifteen minutes over our time limit, but we got the green light to stay longer to order a third drink to share. We ordered the Tiki Diablo (Flor de Cana Eco rum, Worthy Park 109 rum, Alma Tepecha chile liqueur, orange juice, lime juice, mango syrup, guava soda, $24). This drink serves two people, is served in a cool volcano bowl with glowing red lava around it, and comes with a fire show. Unfortunately, right after it was served, the host came over and said we were over our time and had to leave shortly. Christian made up for it by giving us two tall pours to go enjoy in the bowling alley bar area which was fine. We were happy we got some extra time inside. The drink was also very good, balanced with a little complexity. We had a great time. There is so much great décor to look at. The drinks and food were very good, and some of the the drink presentations and special effects were the icing on the cake. All of the bartenders were very friendly and a lot of fun. Do you want Baja Cali to cater an event? Don't waste your time - look for a different vendor. My fiancee and I wanted to cater fish tacos for our wedding and reached out to Baja Cali for information. We first reached out in AUGUST 2022. Someone by the name of Luci started the process for us and directed us to Marielena - the "event coordinator." I reached out to Marielena multiple times over the course of two months and was ghosted. Radio silence. I gave up on them but in JANUARY 2023 my fiancee decided to give it another try. This time, Marielena reached out and restarted the process for us again. She said that she would print out a quote for us so that we can look over it and put down a deposit to secure their service. From this point on, we never heard back again. Radio silence again. It is now almost MARCH 2023 and we've tried calling many different people multiple times for the past 4 weeks only to be ghosted constantly. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. This place deserves a 10 star review! The chefs and cashier lady are so nice and welcoming every time I walk in! Fast easy and close to home which is the way it should be. I was considering giving them a 1 star review because of the Manager, Gus. I don't like to judge the entire establishment on 1 bad experience. I called and ordered a burrito for carry out, I arrived 30 to 40 minutes later. He had told me it'll take about 20 minutes which is fine I guess they were really basy. I arrived and walk up to pay for the food when I was informed by Gus that they haven't even started my burrito and that I will have to wait at least 20 minutes. I was in a rush and got upset, and asked why it's going to take that long! He said well there are others in front of you. I'm like dude I called 40 minutes ago and he said well, if you don't want to wait then leave. Long story short this guy is a grade A you know what. Oh and I made sure to let him know. i live about half a block from this spot and never bothered trying it. well recently, I had a hankering for some Asada fries, and boy oh boy was I in for a treat! not only is their food great quality and tasting, but their prices are beyond reasonable (which is important these days because we all are going broke at the tank) and their portions are beyond generous. I've been coming to this place since they first opened. I love the staff there. They're so friendly especially my friend Daniel. He's been working there quite a few years and he is the best. The best customer service you can ever ask for the atmosphere is clean. The food is delicious everything on there on the menu is fire. Wow - fish tacos that aren't fishy! You can tell that their ingredients are fresh and prepared in house. The grilled fish tacos had the right balance of tortilla, fish, toppings, and sauce. The condiment bar (for lack of a better term) had great spicy peppers, radishes, onions, and generous servings of lime. This was during their soft opening and they already had their act together. I have eaten at hundreds of restaurants in my lifetime and have never been given only three tortillas for a plate that size. We asked for more tortillas and were charged $4 with zero warning. It's not about the money it's the principle. The charge was never disclosed. When I brought it up with the owner, Lupita, she was dismissive and couldn't explain the reasoning it's not even homemade tortillas. You can literally buy 90 tortillas for $4 at a grocery store! She took off one of the charges but kept the other $2. Meanwhile, they offer unlimited chips and complimentary salsa without blinking. The inconsistency is baffling. We genuinely wanted to support this family-run restaurant we loved seeing the family come in together. But the disrespect during that conversation made it impossible to leave on good terms. Do yourself a favor and drive about a 1.5 miles down the street to El Metate. Their large shrimp cocktail is $15, is so flavorful, and the staff treats you like family. Their pozole is outstanding too. We found them on our first failed attempt to come here and we'll be going back to them exclusively from now on. We will never return to Lupita's and made it clear to not go there in our community thread with 15K people. Unless you like hidden fees and mediocre tasteless overpriced food then this is your place otherwise...don't come here.

The carne Asada is good, but it's not my favorite and I would stick with the shredded beef or the chicken for a first timer and then move over to the other stuff afterwards. The ambience is nothing to brag about but overall I'd say it's pretty decent. It's no frills, but I've never felt uncomfortable there and then there's no music blasting or anything like that so it's OK. The service is always good because the guys that work there are always pretty friendly. One brother will bring the food out to you. I see brother because there's two guys that take the order and they kind of look like Brothers and one of them will bring the food to you. The other one will just call out your order and you have to go pick it up, but it's not a table service restaurant. It's just you go up and order and then you sit at a table and you know eat. Please excuse any grammatical errors because I am doing talk to text for this review. Also, they have a parking lot so it's always easy to park there. I would say as far as a Mexican food goes In Pasadena. This is one of the more preferred spots in my opinion that's worth checking out.

I ordered an asada, al pastor, and carnitas taco. Each taco was decent and the sauces were decent as well. The Carnitas taco being the most flavorful. I also ordered a Cidral which is always delicious and the price was reasonable overall.

We live in Pasadena and we ended up finding out about hot Shrimp Mami as soon as we found it, we called in and placed an order. We got the shrimps , the crab legs , fries and tenders. EVERYTHING was amazing 10/10 but keeping it 100 when I say the tenders were alright I feel like they could be better. But beside that everything was amazing. My girlfriend is happy that we found a place that's close to home. The fries were fire but please let's find bigger and fatter tenders. The customer service was excellent and respectful. I ordered a 1 lb of shrimp head, lobster tail l, added sausages and garlic bread. Everything I ordered was very delicious. I will definitely come back again! I highly recommend this spot.
