It is like one long hallway with a countertop. Looks nice on the inside. The thing is, it really depends on who is seated in the restaurant. It can get hard to hear because louder people tend to echo downwards. The food is great and with the happy hour pricing, it's a great deal. Service was nice.

Love Roll up by Oui! They have amazing hand rolls and really fresh fish. I love the spicy tuna here and can't go wrong with any of the appetizers selection. Good for kids and the ambiance and service is top notch. Great addition to the South loop neighborhood.

Amazing food! (When it's in stock!) Fun vinegar spheres in the cucumber salad, Furikake fries are very tasty! Out of salmon! out of uni! Out of Gouza! The Blunt was super yummy! Jon had the sashimi and it was also very good. We also enjoyed the shisido pepper!

Nice, calm vibe on a Tuesday night. Food was prepared and served with care. Flavors were clean so the ingredients could shine. I enjoyed a scallop hand roll as well (not pictured). Staff were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about the food. They opened about four months ago.

Convenient location on Michigan Ave nearing South Loop, been there a couple of times now. Service is great, staff is always very friendly and attentive. Fish quality though has not been consistent, hence the 3 stars. We've tried salmon, tuna, toro, unagi, yellowtail, Japanese scallop, wagyu. Salmon was fresh both times but the other raw selections had been hit and miss. The chicken karaage was decent and the match tiramisu was delicious! Inside seating is limited, very zen decors and ambiance. I'd still go back especially if I'm craving for some quick handrolls, but will probably just stick to salmon.

Great sushi spot in the South Loop! So glad we have this place nearby whenever we're craving sushi. The fish was super fresh and definitely did not disappoint. Both servers were friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. This spot could easily be a great dinner date place too. Only thing to note is there's bar seating only, but honestly we loved watching the chefs prepare everything right in front of us. Definitely coming back!

Came here on a weekday and was able to walk in easily. The interior is pretty nice and the sushi bar seating is comfortable and swanky looking. They have a set menu for their 'hand rolls' which I think they describe as equivalent to a maki roll so they're supposed to on the larger side. You can make some minor substitutions like a double of something in the set but can't bring in other varieties outside of the set. We got the 4 set and opted to swap the California with another Scallop. The price at $36.95 feels a bit high though for the variety. I thought the fish and how it was prepared was overall pretty good. My favorite being the spicy tuna and how it was prepared with crispy onions. The scallop are the baby bay scallops which was just Ok along with the salmon. I wish I swapped for 2 of the spicy tunas instead! I like the wasabi they use too - doesn't have that huge punch like the paste but it tastes better to me. We were still a little hungry after the meal so I would say overall the meal was OK to try.

We've visited Roll-Up several times now, tucked away in a quiet corner of the Magnificent Mile, close to the South Loop. The ambiance is minimalist and serene, with seating for around 20 to 25 people. While it can get busy on Saturday nights, we usually go mid-day for a relaxed lunch, and there's rarely a wait. The hand-rolled sushi is some of the freshest we've ever had. I always get the three-piece hand roll combo and add a crab roll. The service is attentive, and while they do have a small alcohol selection, like Asahi beer, the focus is really on the food. If you go, keep in mind the drinks might be limited, but the appetizers are a must. We love the shishito peppers, and the wagyu hand roll is a splurge but totally worth it--24-karat gold plating, served warm, and so rich. Definitely a unique bite to end round of the evening.

Uni Toro Rice Bowl - HIGHLY recommend!

If you haven't been to Roll Up by Oui yet, you are seriously missing out. What a gem! From the moment you walk in, the service is top-notch--the staff is incredibly welcoming, and attentive! But the real star is the food. The quality is outstanding; everything tastes incredibly fresh and is prepared with so much care. I was craving a quick sushi fix before my flight with all the traffic and came across this place. So glad I did. I inhaled most of my food so only had the opportunity to take these two pictures but this place exceeded my expectations! Whether you're a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and check it out. You won't regret it! Amazing food, great vibes, and conveniently located.

The food and service were excellent. The only challenge was the cost. Prices were high and we won't be able to frequent this place even though it's in the neighborhood. Wising them much success with those that can afford it.

Pretty decent stuff. Fries are season well. Avocado roll was decent. Far from the worst & best I've had. Decent option if the area while taking in the sites in the park

This new spot has so many things going for it. Since it's a 16-seat countertop, it feels more of an intimate experience, and you can watch the person make the hand rolls in front of you! Our favs included the unagi hand rolls, scallop hand roll, cucumber salad, furikake fries and the blue tea. The fish was so fresh, and it melts in your mouth! The blue tea is unlike a tea I've encountered before--it tastes like sweet and creamy, but it doesn't have any milk it. Coming back to try the toro and wagyu hand roll next time!

    Cute spot, nice staff

Candidly it wasn't on my to-do, but the restaurant happened to be on my route back to my hotel and I hadn't had dinner yet. I walked into the restaurant, and there was a spot open right at the bar waiting for me. I think it was meant to be. Loved the vibe of the restaurant, which was casual but trendy. Best part of all was the music. My ears perked up when I heard Hieroglyphics - The Who... A Plus Remix. Instantly felt "at home" with the underground, old school hip hop. Compliments to their curated Pandora playlist. I ordered the the spicy scallop roll, super san roll, and sawara (Spanish mackerel) nigiri. The spicy scallop roll was my favorite. The super san roll was a mix of their toro with varying fattiness. I appreciated that you could order half rolls at Sushi-San, which came out to 5 pieces instead of 10. This was more than enough food for me. The sawara was buttery and fresh. If you don't like the "fishiness" of saba, you'll enjoy sawara. Lastly, overall customer service was great. The food came out incredibly fast. The bartender who assisted me was awesome. He was attentive and personable.

I came with a friend for lunch during the week and they have a somewhat decent lunch special (for today's standards when factoring the cost of living and inflation). We took advantage of that and ordered the 3 combo platter per person so we got 6 total items since there was two of us. The highlights for us were three yellowtail yuzu sushi as well as the salmon rice bowl. The miso soup that came out first wasn't that great. It was overly salty. My friend who is from Japan that I ate with said this place was ok for American standards but not at all great compared to anything in Japan lol.

It clearly is for all their locations. Unfortunately, here at Chinatown's location, when they attempted to scan the card, the staff said it does not work and only works at the Printer's Row location. I ended up calling the Printer's Row location and had the team talk to the manager at the Chinatown location, and the manager at the Chinatown location kept their stance that it does not work, stating Printer's Row location does not know why the gift card does not work at the Chinatown location, and will not make any exceptions to accepting the gift card. Thankfully at the Printer's Row location, they are stating it's due to their system being new as they are a new location, and reason why the gift card is not working at all the locations yet which they are now working on to fix so it does not happen to any other customer moving forward. I just wish the Chinatown location showed some compassion to address the issue and still accommodate the inconvenience instead of us having to go back to the Printer's Row location to use the gift card Price: Approximately $20, not including tip for 2 people. The taki yoki fritters weren't bad either. We saw people getting omakase, so we ordered a yummy looking piece they were receiving. It was just okay (chutoro truffle). The nigiri was also okay. The tuna piece was the only I really loved. The fish quality wasn't as high as I was expecting. The sushi was decent. A little too much truffle in the spicy blue fin tuna and a little too vegetable forward in the hamachi serrano. All in all, the atmosphere and amazing service pushed this up to a 4 for me.
