This place is okay. The review is for take out only! I decided to grab a quick dinner before heading back home. I stopped in between 4-430 so noone was really in there. I decided to get a noodle bowl with steak and a bunch of veggies. I do like they had a sauce bar so I was able to get multiple sauces to go! I also grabbed some of their free miso soup to go as well. When I got home I ate my foods. There was barely any meat and mostly the extra ingredients. Def. Needed more sauce (I did a mix of yum yum and teriyaki) but luckily I grabbed more! Overall meal was good but wasn't mind blowing. Might have been when I went and the food was sitting out for a couple of hours. Who knows. The miso soup was terrible and tasteless. Couldn't eat it and threw it away (would not recommend). Maybe if I ate there during lunch or dinner time it would have been better other than that it's just average :/ read more

Rarely does a fast casual spot impress me; but Bibibop got my attention. The array of foods to choose from is deceptive. It doesn't seem to be anything different from its competitors--but that's where I was wrong. The random bowl of food I ordered was quite delicious. The purple rice, sesame kale, kimche, savory potatoes, seasoned steak and other goodies I selected without much thought turned out to be a terrific meal. There are several sauces available for topping/dipping. The cucumber-wasabi, teriyaki and Korean red are noteworthy. Plus the free, hot miso soup is a nice touch. I haven't been to BIBIBOP in a very long time and I'm glad that I finally did! There was no one in line around 6:30pm on a Sunday. There were two employees (a college-age guy and a woman maybe in her 30s) working in the kitchen. Both vehemently greeted me as soon as I walked in. The menu items and prices were clear and legible. If you're unfamiliar with some of the menu items, like I was, you'll have to ask, which I had to do. The guy primarily helped me with my questions and even offered a sample of whatever I wanted to try. That was cool. I appreciate fast-casual places like this that allow you to choose as many ingredients as your heart and stomach desire without rushing you or being put off or bothered. The service here was super friendly and accommodating! My bowl consisted of the following items: noodles, purple rice, black beans, bean sprouts, cubed potatoes, spicy chicken, organic tofu, shredded carrots, kale, corn, yum yum sauce, and Korean red sauce, yielding an excellent blend of tasty ingredients. The bowl was huge, filling, and a great value. I paid with the LevelUp app. The employee who rang me up had some difficulty processing LevelUp transactions but was extremely apologetic about it and figured it out with assistance from a colleague. Totally sold on this place! I've had BIBIBOP on the radar for some time now, especially after hearing friends rave about it so much. I finally decided to dive in on this place yesterday and it did not disappoint! THE JIST Bibibop serves different varieties of a popular Korean dish called "Bibimbap"...which means mixed rice dish. Similar to the Chipotle "have it your way fashion" you start off with selecting a base like white rice, purple wild rice, mixed lettuce in a bowl or tortilla wraps. Then you add from a large variety of fresh toppings, vegetables and proteins including grilled chicken, steak, or tofu. Additional items bean sprouts, black beans, sauteed potatoes, cucumber, shaved carrots, cheese, eggs, and corn as well. With so many toppings and the fresh, colorful array of veggies you can't help but feel like a "kid in a candy store!"...but on the healthy tip. I sure did! And, the "inner-greedy fat kid" in me chose everything they had to offer that was not an upcharge in my dish!...lol I mean everything looked so good and fresh, it was hard to pass it up and not try it all --at this location in Georgetown. THE VIBE Very, open clean eating concept and space is to best way to describe this location. The serving stations were so clean you almost did not want to have them mess up the presentation while making your bowl. I personally like this and give the a "clapping emoji" on the food prep/presentation factor. The over-sterile 80's salad bar in bins appeal, is a plus. If you know anything about me from my reviews, I'm quite picky about my Korean food. With a name like BIBIBOP, it's a nod to bibimbap (mixed rice bowl), but enough Korean lessons for now. I thought the food was decent. If I don't think of it as Korean food, it's pretty good. It's got hints of Korean-ness like the kimchee and some things have the right flavors. My boss said that you could probably cook everything here with ingredients bought at Safeway, and he's probably right. But, there is a magic of knowing how to combine the ingredients, and they do it well here. I'm satisfied with the food here, and I'd come back. The spirit of Korean food is here and it's healthy, cheap and quick. read more

I love the Bibibop concept. Is it weird to think of it like a Korean Chipotle but with more options? You go, you pick your protein, and you have a nice choice of sides and sauces. The yumyum sauce is very good, though I preferred the wasabi sauce. I've tried their food twice and with different sides/garnishes and I've enjoyed them all. I really like that they sort of separate them in the bowl so if you don't want all your food mixed in together, you can get that. And you can get extra sauce on the side! I wish their drink options were a little more versatile but it's part of the charm. I really hope one of them opens up in the Navy Yard. read more

I've been to both the Dupont location and the Georgetown one, and I really prefer this one. However, that's just because there is a lot more room in this one; it feels more open and the dining area isn't as crowded. In my bowl: noodles, bean sprouts, steak, daikon, cucumber, kale, and eggs topped with their famous Yum Yum sauce and sesame ginger Don't forget to stop by the condiments counter and choose to add sesame oil, soy sauce, sriracha, or sesame seeds! They even have pumping containers full of all the sauce options from behind the counter. Each ingredient is fresh, flavorful, and oh-so satisfying. Did I mention...FREE miso soup. Sign me up! My one complaint is the way their lids fit on the to-go bowls. I had mine in a bag but by the time I got home a ton of sauce had spilled out and drenched the bottom of the bag. Maybe it was a user error, but just be careful if you're taking it to-go! The staff is so incredibly nice. You're welcomed with a smile and each person seems genuinely happy while working. I like to think of BIBIBOP as a Korean version of Chipotle in that you get to customize your ingredients. I came to BIBIBOP and ordered rice with the steak, along with a couple of other items. While the steak and rice paired decently, I didn't feel that the steak was very flavorful. Instead of imparting flavor, the steak was just spicy. Giving this five stars not because it's the best bibimbap I've ever had but because I desperately need good lunch options in this area and want this store to stay open. This is where shophouse used to be. This new casual Asian lunch spot is a nice addition to Georgetown. The food is good and healthy (nutrition facts available online) and inexpensive (less than $10). It's definitely not "protein heavy" in anyway but I don't mind that. Right now there's free miso soup too. Toppings are unlimited except for protein which you pay extra for. If you're used to eating Korean bibimbap it's not authentically like that. There is the option of beans, it's not hot, etc. It's like Chipotle is to Mexican food as bibibop is to korean food. But if you get rid of those expectations this is a great lunch spot. There's a line during peak lunch hours but if you come even at 1230 you could find seating. Also a nice random bonus is that it actually looks really pretty. The bowls are shaped so you can see all the ingredients so it's very colorful. read more

I chose the spicy chicken which was super flavorful, tender and had the korean gochujang (red paste) flavor. My fave! There are a lot of unlimited fresh toppings and I ended up adding all of them...including the sauteed cubed potatoes which were heavenly. At the end of the assembly line you can choose your sauces OR you can head over to the utensil/miso soup station and grab a few sauces to go. There was a mouse in the dining room as I was eating. It was in the recycling bin and then proceeded to walk over the dining area. I have never seen this happen. I discretely alerted the staff at the counter about the issue; they inspected and saw the mouse but did nothing about it, allowing it to continue to roam free. They did not apologize at all. I pretty much lost my appetite by that point. It's kind of a moot point to say that the food was well seasoned and fresh. While it was indeed flavorful, I was thinking of the cleanliness of the place. I went ahead and reported the restaurant to the DC health inspector. Truly a shock. Not worth returning. read more

The kids from Georgetown are a little fruity but the sight doesn't take away from the quality of the grub. I usually get the double portion of Bulgogi with purple rice. The miso isn't that great. While the concept is merely a twist on its predecessor, ShopHouse, BiBiBop is simply lacking the "kick" that ShopHouse had including but not limited to: its sauces, the nutty flavor, and the toppings that made sense together in bowl fashion. What made my BiBiBop experience somewhat odd was that aside from the standard rice noodles, grilled chicken and corn that i am used to, there were also potatoes, eggs, and cheese offered as part of the Asian fusion fast casual menu. While I may just be unfamiliar with what BiBiBop korean barbecue truly consists of, I found the pairings a bit odd. This location offers complimentary miso soup which was nice for soup lovers at the restaurant as it was refilled about three times during my less than an hour lunch there. The order was: purple rice, black beans, spicy chicken, kale, corn, and egg with my own servings of yum yum and red sauces. Looking back, I probably should have thrown in carrots or cucumber to tame the fair amount of spice--no regrets though!--the flavors all blended well. The only item that really stood out was the Spicy Chicken--bite-sized pieces of Korean BBQ-tasting goodness. Disclaimer: I feel like I got a little extra hookup and probably did because they're still relatively new (less than 6 months). That being said, even if I didn't get a hookup, it still would have been the perfect amount to satisfy a big appetite. In total, my bowl was only a little over $8 after tax, and the portion size + free miso soup makes it a great value. Why not five stars? The customer service was TERRIBLE. I came with a coworker during lunch and it was busy, but not frantic. The workers, however, felt like they had no time to talk or even look at a customer. Remember the toppings I got? I didn't ask for cheese- I was actually asking for kimchi, but after scooping a hearty portion of shredded cheese on my food, the worker plopped my bowl down and refused to listen to me as I asked for kimchi (I asked three times!) Maybe there is a topping limit? That's not all: she asked me what sauce I wanted and the sauces are not labelled GF (which is a big deal as soy sauce is not GF). I start asking, "Um, which-" and am immediately cut off by her saying, "okay you don't know" and turning to finish my coworker's bowl. Huh????? The cashier comes over and I ask her which sauces are gluten free and she uncertainly points to two. Wanting to get out of there, I quickly pick one and move on. My coworker tells me that the original worker was moving so frantically that she was not even offered a sauce for her bowl.
