Oh my gosh my pho came in a beautiful clear container where I can see everything, and the bowl was big enough for my pho. I wish I could eat the container with my Pho! Usually take-out pho doesn't have a bowl that comes with it so I eat pho from a small pot at home. Most places put Pho in styrofoam boxes for takeout orders. This was my first time, but I'm definitely coming back. Pho Vy 2 charged me $20 for a small bowl of pho during the beginning of the pandemic. Pho Vy 2 said the cost of food increased so their price must increase as a reflection. Total horse crap, I got two small bowls of Pho from Rolls and Grill (here) for $28! Pho Vy (the first) has the best pho in town, but this is the second best pho in town. Pho Vy 2 would be after Rolls and Grill as 3rd and most likely last, since there's not many places in Bakersfield with Pho. read more

It has been my second time coming here this month from LA. I always have to stop by whenever I visit sequoia. Their poke is fresh and the spicy poke sauce is immaculate. We were driving through Bakersfield and found this place in Yelp and chose it based on the reviews. We enjoy eating Pho in our home town and frequent many different pho restaurants. In comparison to our favorite Pho restaurants in San Diego, I would say the quality of the food is on par if not better than other Vietnamese restaurants. I like their variety of spring rolls and like that they have the crunch in the middle of them. The pho broth is very clear and flavorful and the portions are a good size. Cons: for a restaurant where you pay at the register then sit down, and for a Vietnamese restaurant, the price point is high. At the end of the day Pho is pho and spring rolls are spring rolls, but the price point is high compared to all other Vietnamese restaurants. For what they charge, there should be enhanced ambiance and table/wait service. Otherwise, food was great and I would recommend this restaurant in Bakersfield if you are a Pho/roll snob. read more

This place is amazing for several reasons. The first being they are open at 9 am! I have weird eating habits and never eat traditional breakfast foods. I ordered the vermicelli bowl and the beef spring rolls. The portions were very generous for meat and noodles! It was so delicious and the meat was seasoned so well I probably could have done without the soy sauce usually needed when I eat this dish. Totally regretted adding soy sauce. Listen the food here is okay but very overpriced considering how dirty this place is.. takeout is going to be the way to go. The service was not the greatest and not the mention the place inside was a pig stye. There were like 5 tables that nobody was sitting at but just full of a bunch of empty dishes and the tables that had no dishes were so egregiously dirty. Not to mention they have a bunch of small kids running around and crying making the ambiance very stressful to say the least. The worst part is going to use the restroom you're met with a kid on a disgustingly dirty high chair that you literally have to squeeze by to get to the restroom who is eating and dropping food everywhere and you see all the filth. Rolls and Grill is one of Bakersfield's newest gems!! I've been here a lot since they opened for business, and I have yet to eat a bad meal. It is not a traditional sit down Vietnamese restaurant. Place your order at the counter from one of the helpful folks, and then take a seat. There are plenty of seats to choose at this clean and spacious restaurant. While you dine, they show nice music videos covering both American and Asian songs. My favorite item is their Grilled Pork sandwich. In my humble opinion, it is the BEST Banh Mi sandwich in Bakersfield!!! I even like them better than most Vietnamese places in both Southern and Northern California. It tastes incredibly delicious!!! All their menu items with grilled pork tastes top notch!! Grilled Pork Spring Roll with a nice crunch is awesome. Grilled Pork over Vermicelli is another great choice. Grilled Pork Chop is large and tastes amazing!! Recently, they started selling Pho. It just may be the best in town too. That Combination Pho with the tripe, steak, and meatball was yummy! Add the veggies to the meat, and the super tasty broth!! Makes for a terrific treat during those chilly winter days! Ok I finally made it here!!!! I'm so happy I did although now I have a problem....I freaking crave it all the time!! My son and I got the grilled pork spring rolls and a pork bahn Mi and shared them. Well that was a mistake we ate so fast and it just disappeared like that!! Hahaha note to self don't share...get your own from now on...And everyone is right that peanut sauce is addicting I wanted to lick the bowl but my son would've killed me for embarrassing him Lol. I love the crispies inside the middle of the rolls!! What a surprising unexpected texture...That was my first Bahn mi (forgive me if I misspelled that its not my strongest quality hehehe). So so delicious and for me the perfect balance of ingredients not too much meat not too much veggie and perfectly dressed I had no clue what to expect flavor wise and my first bite I was in love and dammit!! Your food takes FOREVER to be made, the meatballs taste like frozen toilet water, and I always have difficultly finding a clean table to sit at. I gave this place a fair chance, but they blew it.
