I do not write this review lightly. This has been one of our go to restaurants for years. The past few times we have been in we have observed very disturbing practices. Tonight was the last straw for me. 1. I watched the young man that was taking orders handle money then touch food. 2.He then bussed tables and came back and handled food. 3.His hands were in and out of the water tub that the basil is kept in and then the basil was put in a bag for someone's Pho. He never washed his his hands once while we were there. 4.He then got an order wrong. He gave the customer the wrong spring rolls. She left the restaurant then came back and complained. He gave her the right spring rolls but then repackaged the spring rolls she brought back and gave them to another customer. 5. I asked to speak to a manager but was told the manager is on vacation and won't be back until next week. I understand sometimes business can be under staffed. But there still has to be basic sanitation. You can't serve used food. This was NOT an isolated incident. Last time we were in I watched the employee bus and wipe down tables then touch food for an order without washing their hands. Someone is eventually going to get sick from this lack of sanitation. It's a decent sized restaurant where you order at the counter before finding a seat. Nothing fancy but it does the job. I've been here twice now and left happy both times. I've tried the chicken pho, seafood pho, and shrimp rolls. The chicken pho is flavorful and quite tasty. The winner here are the shrimp rolls. Super fresh and delicious. Food is good! I get the Pho combination soup and spring rolls. The price is definitely too high for what they provide. They price everything like you're buying a steak. Customer service is fast at least and you get your food right away. They give you fresh water not that garbage out of the tap water. This is my favorite spot for the moment for Vietnamese food. I was looking for a quick bite while in town and found this on Yelp. Staff was friendly and it was fairly quick. I got the beef and rice house special in hopes to fill my Vietnamese hankering. The drinks lured me in and I got a passion fruit with jelly. It was a bit sweet, but the jelly made it more palatable. It took a little bit to cook, but nothing too long. The beef came out and I can see the grill lines on the thin slices. I was a bit worried, but there is solid flavor. A side salad also came with the dish and it was okay, nothing to rave about. It's a small restaurant that is pretty hidden when driving down the Main Street. Unless you're actively looking in the shopping center you probably won't notice it. I found it on google. I will be up front, I initially didn't like Rolls and Grill when we first tried it. The restaurant had an odd appeal to it, the menu on the wall seemed dysfunctional but I feel differently which is good I held off my review until now. The first thing that my wife and I tried here was the Poke bowls, I think that is what gave me the feeling of disappointment originally, their poke is mediocre at best comparing against some other places in Bakersfield. But if you venture into other items on their menu, you will definitely find something to love as I did. Here are our favorites: -Grilled Pork Spring Rolls...they use fresh ingredients and have a peanut sauce that becomes so addicting, making you want even more. -Grilled Pork Sandwich (Banh Mi)...the veggies are pickled well, the pork is marinated perfectly so it doesn't underwhelm or overpower the entire sandwich and the bread has the right amount of crunch when biting into it. Those are just our immediate ones but I also recommend their Kalbi Korean BBQ plate and any of their grilled bowls however I prefer the vermicelli noodles over rice, it just adds better layering of flavor in my opinion. If you have not found your way to Rolls and Grill, stop playing yourself Yelpers, it is worth both your time and money...just not the poke though! read more

Oh my gosh my pho came in a beautiful clear container where I can see everything, and the bowl was big enough for my pho. I wish I could eat the container with my Pho! Usually take-out pho doesn't have a bowl that comes with it so I eat pho from a small pot at home. Most places put Pho in styrofoam boxes for takeout orders. This was my first time, but I'm definitely coming back. Pho Vy 2 charged me $20 for a small bowl of pho during the beginning of the pandemic. Pho Vy 2 said the cost of food increased so their price must increase as a reflection. Total horse crap, I got two small bowls of Pho from Rolls and Grill (here) for $28! Pho Vy (the first) has the best pho in town, but this is the second best pho in town. Rolls were freshly made, Thai tea was your average Thai tea, and the pho which I was hoping to be absolutely delicious was super salty!
