Came with my sister on a random Monday morning. This is a korean place with an intimate vibe but is very spacious, clean and organized. Their staff is amazing and welcoming who makes sure we are doing good and we have everything. They start off with amazing banchan and then whatever you want to order from their menu with a variety of options. We got the following: - Boneless Fried Chicken: so crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It is flavorful and comes with a yummy dip - Seafood Pancake: this was good but wished it was more crunchy. We were given a soggy, oily seafood pancake (hence the minus point) - Kimchi Fried Rice: this was really good! If you are looking or craving for korean food, I highly recommend this place! read more

Let it be known that the food is good However, the prices alone are really high. To be clear my opinion stands on all the restaurants in town charging these prices for this. Ca.e at noon on a Sunday and we had the place to ourselves. Highlights - service amazing, food delicious, Banchan fresh, we will be back. Unfortunately this will be a special occasion place because the prices are high. Katsu, Tteokbokki, eel, soup and 3 scoops of rice (no alcohol) was over $110. They did give us a free appetizer becuase we bought 2 entrées. While there was plenty of food I wasn't sure if I wanted to pay that again. I love eel and it was delicious. We will come back but it would make more sense to have a smaller portion and a smaller price for lunch especially if you are alone. read more

Omg! I was craving beef bulgogi and had heard this cute little Korean spot opened right by Bakersfield College, so obviously I had to go check it out! From the second we walked in, I noticed how super clean and tidy everything was (love that for us). The host Temma was sooo kind and walked us through all the ins and outs of the menu, which made it feel extra welcoming. I went straight for the beef bulgogi because my tastebuds wanted a flavorful party. it was honestly sooo delicious; perfectly savory, tender, and just chef's kiss! My coworker ordered the fried rice combo with shrimp, chicken, and beef, and omg the portion was generous and looked sooo good too.They also have the cutest Korean sodas, I tried the strawberry soda and it was such a fun experience! Finally got a chance to try the new spot on the Eastside!!! Formally known as Shoyu Sushi the new place is now focused on Korean food dishes. Still owned and operated by Sunny and her daughter. The inside has had a make over and is a lot brighter. I went with my best friends/family so we were able to order a few dishes to share. The service was spot on. Super friendly and really great knowledge of whats on the menu and how everything is prepared. The dishes were super flavorful and cooked to perfection. My favorites on this trip were the spicy eel and beef bulgogi. Actually they were all my favorites lol. I'm looking forward to going back to try more of their creations!!! read more

This place is across from the BC football stadium. A nicely remodeled restaurant, making some exciting authentic Korean food. The waitress is super sweet, her mom is the chef, who also dropped by to say hi. The waitress told us her mom literally made the kimchi this morning! We started with the cod appetizer, it was soft, juicy, with a savory dipping sauce. The main attraction was the eel and crab. The buttery side eel came on a sizzling hot plate. It was out of the world good. The marinated blue crab comes in a gentle sweet hot sauce, it is fresh, and loaded with flavor. The short ribs were also very well done. The clear noodle dish with vegetables also impressed my buddy. So, great food, great service. You have to try this place! read more

We were greeted before we even walked into the restaurant. Very friendly servers. The place is very clean, modern, and nicely lit. We ordered bulgogi, rose tteokbokki, raw marinated crab, and the spicy grilled eel. The only thing I'd ever had before was the bulgogi, everything else was a new experience. The server came over and showed us how to eat the marinated crab. The sauce on the crab is to die for, I could eat anything covered in that sauce. It was super flavorful and just enough spice. The eel was definitely interesting. It was super tender almost jelly like and it went perfect with the lettuce wraps and banchan. There were so many more dishes I wanted to try. The best Korean food in Bakersfield! I ordered the jjamppong and can confidently say it's one of the top five I've ever had. The broth was rich and flavorful without being overly spicy. I was also pleasantly surprised that it came with two large shrimp. My wife ordered the chicken katsu and loved the crispy crunch of the chicken. The katsu sauce was good, although she prefers it served on the side as a dipping sauce rather than poured over the chicken. The service was easily 5 stars. My wife and I also loved the banchan, especially the pickled onions, radish, and jalapeños. They even gave us extra to take home! Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I ordered this on doordash and they followed my instructions, which I thank because I'm rather a picky eater. I got a spicy ramen bowl, it wasn't that spicy at all to me though. This place is a gem nestled in a nondescript strip mall. We were warmly welcomed by our server and the owner came to greet us also. My husband had a tasty udon shrimp dish and I had the beef bibimbap. Both were very good. What really impressed me was the house made soy sauce! Deep flavor and not salty. I've never experienced that before. I asked if they sell it and she said no, and sent me out with a generous sample to take home. Oh and the little dishes (Bon chon?) were delicious, especially the seaweed seasoned with toasted sesame oil. I would definitely go back. read more

I ordered the beef bulgogi and my husband had the BBQ pork, and both dishes were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The portions were generous, I even had leftovers for lunch the next day and it still tasted great. I also loved how the meal starts with fermented kimchi, radish, and onion. We were greeted immediately upon entering. We sat and looked over the menu. Everything looked good, so we went and ordered one of the most expensive item on the menu. The place itself is very clean, the music and mood was very nice. We got our food and it did not disappoint. The braised short ribs were very tender, the broth was full of flavor. My ramen was one of the best I've had. Reminds me of Sushi Hanashi. There are foods that are just spicy and there foods where you taste the spice. This is the latter. Spicy good. Saw this while scrolling for a late lunch and stumbled upon a new gem. The food is delicious! My wife and I shared the steamed mandu, pork katsu, kimchi-jjigae, and japchae. Definitely must trys when coming to visit! There wasn't many people here so our service was prompt and efficient. Once Bako gets wind of this place it'll be super busy for sure. Absolutely awesome meal. I love eating interesting foods that I don't cook myself. Yelp reviews and pics really helped use in what to order--ie. portions are very large, raw crab looked too messy for us, etc. Luckily we convinced a buddy to come with us to make it easier to share the large plates. Our pleasant waitress was also a great help in deciding which beef dish to order. Unfortunately the menu calls three different types of meat dishes "short ribs". With the help of our waitress, the beef we got is actually called Kalbi (marinated beef sliced with a small bone in the middle). It was delicious and easily enough for 3 as an entree. We also got the Japchae w/ veggies (glass noodles)-tasty and enough for 4+ to share. We also tried the spicy eel--we wrapped it in lettuce accompanied by some of the sides (Banchan)-very good. The sides were a nice touch-a variety of Kimchi and other tastefully marinated vegetables. We were pleasantly surprised that nothing was overly hot (spicy). At other Korean restaurants, we have found items (like Kimchi) so spicy we couldn't eat them. Prices seemed a bit high but not so if you take into account how large the servings are as well as all the sides that come with it--the final bill reflected a very good value. Hesitated to try Korea House because we missed Shoyu Sushi and had never tried Korean food before. That was a mistake. It's so good. We had the Grilled Spicy Eel and it melted in our mouths. Can't wait to have it again. We also had the kimchi pancake and Spicy Soft Tofu Stew with Seafood. Everything was so fresh and delicious. While the food was good on its own I feel like the menu lacks genuine Korean touch. Hot stews with ramen noodles and Japanese foods were present on the menu, I had grown to near exclusively to authentic Korean food and hoped to find something so far from home but found myself hoping more than what was delivered. The employees were kind and considerate but it seems like I would have to make a long trip down to LA for some Korean food I hoped to find black bean cakes or galbi or yukgaejang maybe even some mung bean jelly as appetizer but none the less the food was good on its own Asian restaurant. read more

We have visited 2 times since it opened. Great food and flavor. The atmosphere was good. The staff was amazing. The food servings are good enough for 2 people on most items except for the soups. We ordered the dumpling soup the first time we went and the bowl was very small. Next time we went we ordered the short rib soup and the bowl was very small. The lack of dessert options is also the reason for the point deduction. Everything tasted amazing will definitely go back. read more
