    Beef pho

We decided to try this place on our latest trip to the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass. The restaurant is located in the outlet mall, in the old Johnny Rockets location near Vans (so don't go looking near the food court). We were seated right away, as the restaurant was fairly empty (1 PM on a Saturday). The place seemed clean, and we were waited on quickly. The lunch menu was a little confusing. There was a teriyaki or hibachi option with a Pick 2 listed, followed by different proteins. When we asked about it these seemed to be separate items, but we think we ordered the teriyaki chicken. It came with veggies, a choice of fried or steamed rice, and four pieces of sushi. The sushi was very fresh and mild- I'm not a big sushi fan but I liked it. I got the beef pho, which was excellent. Huge bowl with delicious broth, tons of noodles, and several big pieces of tender beef. There were a lot of sauce options on the table, including soy, hoisin, and sriracha. I added some lime and sriracha to my soup, and it was perfect. One of the best bowls of pho I've had. We had a great experience, but it was a little pricey- $50 for two entrees, a soda, and an egg roll. Pretty steep for lunch. I'm not sure how well this restaurant will do at this mall- sit-down restaurants don't seem to last very long here. If this restaurant was in my neighborhood I think it would be a hit, but I'm not sure how good of a fit it is for the outlet mall.

I had the bagel roll. It was great! Service was quick. Not packed at all on Black Friday and the bathroom lines are much shorter here!!

They closed. I was never able to eat there before they closed. I tried to eat there 4 or 5 times. They are now a Mexican restaurant.

The food was just not up to par. When my northern hubby says it has no flavor and he needs soy sauce, you have to be pretty bland.

Good sushi, huge portion of fried rice, clean and well lit. Glad we have this place in Simpsonville.

I've been going to Samurai for date nights and friend dinners for years and every roll is huge and fresh, and I always have great service. Good sushi is hard to find in land locked Kentucky! Samurai must have great sources for their fish because the freshness is very apparent, every time I go. Favorite rolls: Mark's Roll, Happy Sunday, Texas Roll, Barbie's Favorite, Sakura Roll, and Midnight Roll but truthfully, you cannot go wrong. We heard the story of our favorite roll! The Mark's roll was named after a very kind soul that was a friend of the restaurant that sadly passed away. He loved spicy food and was the light of the room, so the fried jalalpeno and flaming plate make the perfect homage to him. The love and care Samurai has for their customers and the community is unmatched! Come cute with 15 people, or in your pajamas with your bestie. The atmosphere is very welcoming; casual but romantic still. Either way come ready to EAT!

I won't be back--and I wouldn't recommend it…read more I ordered their best available Cabernet . The first glass was good, I understand this is not a wine bar so no complaints. The second was completely off--overripe, heavy blackberry notes, clearly oxidized and not the same quality wine. This is what happens when a bottle has been open too long. When I pointed it out, instead of addressing it professionally, the server repeatedly insisted it was from the same bottle and argued with me. That's not just poor service--that's dismissive and borderline insulting. I wasn't trying to get out of paying. I explicitly said I would pay for the glass and not drink it--which I did. I left the full glass on the table. At that point, the appropriate response would have been to move on. Instead, the argument continued. For context, I spent 22 years in the wine and spirits industry. I know the difference--but frankly, anyone could have smelled and tasted how off that wine was. I still paid and tipped 20%, but the issue isn't the charge--it's the way this was handled. Arguing with a customer instead of listening is unacceptable. Do better.

We went up to the register and gave Taylor our order. She was so friendly and helpful. The meals were each prepared as we ordered them and the owner's mother delivered our food. Alex, the owner stopped by to check on us and see how we were doing. Our food was really good. There was Chicken Teriyaki and Beef Boxes that had vegetables and rice. You could choose a Beef, Tender Chicken Teriyaki or Shrimp box. Choice of white, brown, or fried rice, or noodles. Side options: Gyoza, veggie, soups, rolls or Rangoon. A small salad with Ginger dressing came with the Bento Box, also. There was a lot of food in that meal. They also had Teriyaki Chicken or Steak Bowl with teriyaki sauce over your choice of white rice, brown rice, fried rice, or noodles. They had Orange Chicken, Sesame Chicken, General Tso's Tofu. There were also Kid's Meal choices. In fact Bento's menu was so large, I would suggest going to their website menu and checking out their menu. You'll love it. Robyn

Our total bill was $40.28 (before gratuity) for the two of us, which I think was a little pricey for an order of crab ragoon, one spicy crab roll, a 3-protein Poke Bowl, and two fruit teas. Food quality was fresh and tasty. Restaurant was clean. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Air conditioning was cold!

As always, the dinner entertainment is quite enjoyable with the large, hot fire, egg juggling, and onion-ring choo-choo train. The food was prepared quite nicely, and the chef was very light with the seasonings. The chefs under the previous management were quite heavy with the seasonings and I always had to tell them ..."light on the teriyaki". On this visit, that was not the case and I appreciated the difference. The hibachi dining experience is usually always a nice one. While it is quite generic, it is enjoyable. We will return.

Let me start with the food because it was absolutely outstanding. I ordered the steak and chicken hibachi with fried rice, and it also came with two shrimp as an appetizer, plus the ginger salad and soup. I'm not even a soup person, but that soup was SO good. And the ginger dressing on the salad? Honestly to die for. The portions were huge too--I definitely felt like I got my money's worth. We also ordered calamari as an appetizer. The portion size was great and the calamari itself was nice and meaty, but the breading wasn't my favorite. It could've been a lot better in terms of flavor and texture. As for the hibachi experience itself, this is where it fell a little short. Since we were the last table of the night, the chef didn't really do many tricks or interact much. I was expecting more of that classic entertaining hibachi show, but it felt a bit rushed--understandable given the timing, but still a little disappointing. Also, since we were there for a birthday, I was hoping for at least a small acknowledgment (a song, dessert, something), but they didn't do anything for it.
