Went there on a top recommendation from a trusted friend. Made a proper appointment for dip removal and application. I've been getting that done for 10 years at other places. No issues. Upon arrival, they put my hands in boiling hot acetone to soak. ???? I have long natural nails. When I complained, they said they would have to wrap my nails in foil. (That's normally how it is done.) they put on acetone and cotton and wrapped my nails in foil and then left me to take a walk in client for a manicure. ??? What happened to my scheduled appointment?? I sat with foils on for almost an hour. Very bad for nails. And I took the foils off myself as I was told it would just be a few more minutes. But still more time passed. As we approached the hour mark I had to leave because of how this was all handled. The cotton has cemented to my nail beds and my nails were so sore with whatever acetone they used. This is how I had to leave and find another establishment which handled all as expected. Not sure why I got this poor level of inconsiderate service but this place is a huge NO for me. read more

This was my second time at Romance Nail Spa. I can't complain about the staff except they aren't very upfront with you. Instead of saying I would need to wait 30-45 minutes, they just said it's a couple minutes and had my sit on the massage chairs. I didn't mind this as all, I'd prefer they had just told me in the beginning. I love the quality of their work because the women do an amazing job and my nails lasted 3 weeks long. I had come in the first week of August, and yesterday the same girl cleaned and redid my nails. Their prices are pretty high for a simple manicure and pedicure but I guess it's understandable due to the location. I took my younger brother with me and he also had a manicure and pedicure but without any nail polish. So they were glad to help which was great. I definitely will return! read more

The nails cost me 55.00 for what should have been a fill on 1 hand. 5 total Nails had fallen off and the owner charged me for a full set. This afternoon, Jennifer, the long-standing operator at this establishment, turned away my 80 year old mother and loyal customer for over 15 years. She would not accept a gift card my mom had from 2014 because it "expired." I called Jennifer inquiring on this, completely expecting that there must have been a misunderstanding of some sort and that Jennfer would realize the mistake. She quite simply said she would not take the gift card after all these years. It was against the "policy" to accept an expired gift card... a policy authored and dictated by Jennifer herself, not one of some other nebulous and elusive owner/operator. I tried explaining to her that the gift card is good as cash, bought, and paid for, and monies that Jennifer reaped the benefit of, but no service was extended in return. Jennifer was snarky, rude, dismissive, and instead of seeing the BIG picture, she would rather lose our family of customers than allow my mom to redeem the value of the card. Before I started to write this review, I called Jennifer back to give her the option to make this right or expect that a review on Yelp would be the next appropriate measure for this situation. Jennifer did not converse with me. Instead, she handed the phone to a customer, not an employee of the salon, to speak on her behalf. Clearly, that went nowhere as this cutomer had no fundamental understanding of the situation or a grasp of the facts, but rather a spokeshole for Jennifer. I engaged with said customer, but quickly realized this woman was out of her element, had no idea on how to run a business or what it means to stay out of someone else's business. I don't normally write negative reviews or any reviews for that matter, but this one really was on a whole different level of blatant disregard for the elderly, for long-standing customers, and a massive failure of not doing right by customers, especially ones that have stayed true and loyal for years. She has lost all four members of our family over a decision that saw pennies over dollars, a small picture over big picture, and foolishness over common sense. Jennifer, shameful on your part. We will never step foot in your business again. In an area littered with nail salons on every block, those that stand the test of time will always put principal, loyalties, and graciousness over profit. If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would! My teen daughter was treated with the utmost disrespect at this establishment. No adult should EVER treat a polite teen and a good kid (or any kid) the way my daughter was treated! I dropped off my sixteen year old daughter at her scheduled nail appointment at 3:40pm. I had a client after so I had made arrangements for her to get picked up later. The ride arrives 1:15 later and my daughter is not even close to being ready and texts me how they just sat her down 20 min ago. I called the owner Jeniffer and asked why its taking too long, and remind her how I had specifically asked her to not book anyone at the same time as us (as she had done before). We are a busy family with sports and work obligations so we don't have time to sit there for hours. She assured me that another half hour and lies about how my daughter took too long to pick design (my daughter knew what she wanted and had told her the design upon arriving) Needless to say, TWO HOURS AND TWENTY MINUTES later my daughter calls saying she is ready. No nail job takes that long!! Jeniffer repeatedly left my daughter to go work on OTHERS, walk ins, while my poor kid waited and waited. Oh it gets worst... while she is working on my daughter's manicure, she uses my daughter to text (using her free hand) her daughters tutor, read a list off her phone (as if my daughter is her secretary and not a paying customer). The inappropriateness reaches its PEAK when both Jennifer and Kathy (older tech) decide to tag team telling my daughter to lie to me and not tell me they were working on other people and making her wait. YES you heard that right! Grown adults (parents themselves) asking a teen to lie to her mother. To think that Jennifer and Kathy would allow themselves to do this is beyond appalling specially considering how generously I would tip ALL of them everytime I went in. To make matters worst, my poor daughter (who by the way babysits to pay for her own nails) was not even happy with her nails after the 2:20 wait. She had holes and nicks all over her nails that Jennifer refused to fix saying "they are just air bubbles" I should have known how greedy and unprofessional Jennifer is when the time before Kathy made a mistake and did gel pedicure instead of normal for me and as soon as I saw she brought the lights to bake it, I was like I didnt want Gel but I felt bad for Kathy and said its ok don't worry about taking off and redoing (although no one wants blue toes for a month!!!) and Jennifer who was doing my manicure at that time and heard the entire thing, charged me the full $20 extra for my gel pedicure when I checked out. Never setting foot in that place ever again. I will take my business to the million other nail salons in studio city where owners and staff are not driven by GREED and BAD MORALS. read more

I wish I was still having my nails done here instead of being on lock down!! Tracy did a great job on my fingernails and filed them exactly the way I like, kind of square with rounded corners. She was very sanitary and wore a mask while working. The salon is reasonably clean and they are very busy even with the beginning of the corona virus shut down. First of all, no, just no. I've made 2 attempts to come here considering I live directly across the street and have been unsuccessful due to them overbooking which is extremely unprofessional. You might as well just walk in because this place prioritizes those. You'll still have to wait because they're greedy now. Not to keen on the ethics of properly running a business. Walk in and all the nail techs look up and then right back down without saying a word, which forces me to announce i have an appt to the entire salon. A lady then tells me to sit for a few minutes. 10 minutes go by i ask if its going to be longer and she said yes 20 more minutes. wtf. why did i have to ask this??? they will just let you sit and wait 30 entire minutes when you have an appointment. absolutely not. the station i was waiting at was run down and the whole decor in the place is a bit out of date and unstylish including the worn down leather pads you rest your hands on. Not an uppity, boujee gal ridden spot. I got a gel manicure & tbh I've never had all my nails stay pristine for over a week. This place lasted 8 days - lit! My pedicure was kind of half-a$$ed. In other reviews I read about a basically cheese grater looking thing to get skin off your heels which didn't happen for me. My feet were decently soft but not like "wow I just got a great pedicure" soft. There was a cool room that looked like a backyard tiki party that I really wanted to peek into. I used to go there for few years, also got my friends go there, few times it happened to me that Jenifer left me in the middle of doing my nails at a position that I couldn't left , and got a walk-in costumer that was more important than me. Also few times it happens to me that as soon as I walk at the door, (always with scheduled appointments) they asked me if I want pedicure as well when my appointment was for doing my nails. Stupid me I agreed to do pedicure and when my feet in the water my nails appointment was delayed. My friends stop going there because the same reason that they don't respect your time. Today it happens to me again. My appointment was scheduled to 2:30 I rushed to get there on time , at 2:30 Jenifer was still busy with other customer, as usual they asked me if I want pedicure, unfortunately I agreed although I did few days ago, but I did it because it's better than just wait. The lady took of the nail polish and cut my nails a little bit , and by this time 2:40 Jennifer finished with previous customer. Instead of coming to me she got another customer. I asked her what about me she told me she will do the other one fast, I told her I don't want her to do her fast I want her to start doing my nails it's already over my appointment time. However I took my feet out of the water and I told her I am leaving. I was charged 25$ WTF??!! I don't know why I paid but I went to the car crying. So disrespectful. I spoke to my friend and she told me that is the reason why she is never coming there again. The salon is always clean and the spa chairs with massage are well-maintained. Low key music plays; it might be a "love" radio station and I love it because it's relaxing. THE COLOR SELECTION: Romance has great color options. You can find a wide selection of Essie, OPI, and gel colors. I like that they have multiple nail color swatches on acrylic nails so you can get a better idea of what the color will look like once applied. THE SERVICE: Excellent. I have not left Romance unsatisfied no matter who does my nails. My favorite nail tech for a gel mani right now is Lin.
