I will give them 4 stars right now but I know they can be 5 plus. This was my first time coming here & I can promise I am planning on coming back. The place was very clean. It was pretty quite the day I went but I'm sure the street event had a lot to do with their slow day. Never the least, there were still happy customers. I came in for a mani / pedi for $30. I normally find a place that can do it for less but those places can be very unpredictable. Romance Nail Spa did a great job on my nails. Had to update previous review again, because I had a 30 minute wait time without a warning or a greeting. Again took people out of order. They do amazing nails but had to leave for work. I called but they don't ask you to schedule an appointment, they just vaguely tell you to try this time range. They need more peeps! This happened first visit too and they aren't good about greeting or finding out what you need during the time that you sit, wondering if they've completely forgotten. On flip side, manicures last weeks without chipping and usually that means a salon over buffs so your nails become fragile but in this case it means good products because my nails stay healthy. Also, it's a really nice shape and look. They just need to work on customer service and they'd be perfect. read more

This is my GO TO place. I have become such a regular now that they know my personal preferences. Friendly and sweet. CLEAN which is very important when finding a nail salon. I always get a neck and foot massage and to be quite honest they do better than most of these actual massage places. Cut minimal cuticle and used a bottle I SPECIFICALLY SAID NOT TOO. the polish she used on my was thinned out and bumpy ( how do you use this on clients??) didn't clean my nail underneath and spent about 30 seconds "massaging." Everyone in the salon is wearing toe separators, but for some reason I don't get any? I called ahead of time to ask if I needed an appointment and when I got there I don't think it even mattered. I waited for about 5 minutes before someone told me to pick my polish and sit at one of the tables. I was too intimidated to ask about gel manicures or acrylics and just got a normal manicure. My cuticles were so bad. It was $18 without tip, making it one of the cheaper places I've seen. (And there's one around the corner from me that charges $30 for a regular manicure.) I went to this place a few times to try out. Wait is horrible and your scheduled appointment is never on time. I always wait 20 to 30 min. So service sucks. If you cant keep up with your time dont waste others time, or at least be nice enough to let the customer know their wait time and the customer will decide whether to wait or to leave. Besides the owner all the other woman do a horrible job.. They dont let it dry well and it gives bubbles or just uneven nails and no filing, or gel nail is too thick it looks ugly. And Also seems like they have a problem listening you and understanding what youwant. Whats wrong with nail salons these days? I have noticed they dont file or cut the cuticals unless you tell them too and even sometimes when you tell them to file they seem to miss especially if in case u get busy on ur phone they will for sure not do it, its not nice.. Love this place! It's not hoity toity but they do a better job than a location 3X the price. The staff are all perfectionists, the foot massages are the best and they also give back/neck massages for extra $5. My gel manicure will last 2 weeks! Best part, when you get the callus remover they use an actual grater on your feet and you've never seen dead skin removed like this. It comes off almost 1/2 inch thick. It's disgusting but also so amazing. Your feet feel like a baby's bum! Makes every other nail salon's ineffective scrub with a pumi bar seem laughable. read more

I absolutely love Romance. I am addicted. I would recommend making an appointment, they can usually take you the same day. When you go, ask for the name of your tech so you can ask for them next time. Park at the homegoods/marshalls structure across the street. I am also a homegoods addict so two birds with one stone. I have been to romance at closing more than a few times and so have witnessed their clean up session at the end of the day, and they are so thorough which makes me even happier to go there. I'm also posting their price list as of feb 2020 so you can know before you go. And remember to tip these ladies well! I really like this nail salon very much. However there is that BUT,,,, Let me start by saying that the salon is very clean, sanitary and beautiful. Makes you feel very welcoming and comfortable. Jennifer, who runs the salon is a very kind, nice, professional, helpful and sweet person. She knows her job very well. She is EXCELLENT IN WAXING!! Whether it is an eye brow wax, under arm, legs or any other part of the body... I give her 2 thumbs up. She does a clean job, which I not only LOVE, but haven't come across at any other nail/waxing salon. I usually do a regular mani/pedi wherever I go. Whether it's Romance nails or anywhere else. All the techs are really nice, and wonderful. I do have to be honest about my manicure though. This past 3 times that I have been going there to only get manicure... I have NOT been satisfied with the quality of the polish and I feel like the manicurist (Emily) has been rushing to get the work done fast. I get home and after not even 3 days, the polish comes off and I don't like that!! This last time when I went to Romance, I had brought it to Jennifer's attention and she asked Emily to do my pedicure instead of my manicure. So, the pedicure turned out to be OUTSTANDING!!! She did an EXCELLENT JOB! However Anthony did my manicure and I was hoping that he would do a good job with my manicure and the same thing happened again. After 3 days the polish started to come off. I don't have that kind of money to spend for GEL manicure. I have never had a problem anywhere else with my manicure, but here at this salon. So I will start off and say they HAD potential but after my last experience I will say just avoid this place if you care about attention to detail..... it will LITERALLY feel like pulling teeth with these people and feedback given to them nicely might I add will immediately have you stared at by all there staff...they will start talking in their native language most definitely about you....If someone is a PAYING customer and you are performing the service you accepted you should be able and skilled enough to perform it with perfection and if not try again and do better or at least have a pleasant attitude about it. Bummer...I drove all the way from over the hill to get this place! I picked this place off reviews on yelp. The customer service was excellent...however once I got there they told me they gave my appointment away to the original person who had that appointment. Wait what? They never told me I was taking a person's appointment that didn't show up. They told me to wait/come back in 35 minutes. Usually this wouldn't be the end of the world but I was rushing to get to a Bridal Shower last night so this ended up messing up the whole night. Let it be said that my toe polish from this place has lasted three weeks without a single chip. I haven't the slightest what they use for a top coat (it's still even got a little bit of sheen to it) but, miraculously, it's still in good shape. I always get nervous that I'm not going to find parking because they're on Ventura Blvd but I always manage to get a street spot, though I think there is actually parking in the back. (Quick side note: Today I saw that a STOUT restaurant/bar is being built next door. I don't know if you know anything about spa treatments, but they go great with good food and booze. Perfect!) My feet had been long overdue for a pedicure and my back and neck had been long overdue for a spa/massage chair so I wanted to go somewhere fancy and have my feet pampered. I used to come here for eyebrow waxing (also great) and mani/pedis when they were brand new and I lived in North Hollywood; I'm still in the area but it had been a long time since my last pedicure and a VERY, VERY long time since my last one here. The place is so clean and spacious, I love it. I like all the bamboo and decor. It has such a nice classy spa feel. The chairs are very nice, the jet tubs are pretty and the ladies are all extremely nice, professional and awesome. I will have to update with names of my recommended favorites once I'm going regularly again, but so far I love every one! The woman (I think it was Jen) was really nice to me over the phone when I called for an appt. It seems like you'd want to make an appt for this place, but that they wouldn't be rude to walk-ins and would probably take you as long as they had someone. They definitely had a satisfactory polish selection too (O.P.I. and Essie)! I liked that most of the people I saw in there seemed to be extremely happy regulars, that says a lot. Also lots of celebrities have come here (I saw on Google Images) lol Oo lala. But I really think both things are good signs! I got their Deluxe Pedicure No. 1 which included: Hot Oil/Lotion, Sea Salt Scrub and Callus Removal. So basically a warm mini foot massage, exfoliated my lower legs and feet and also put some muscle into scrubbing off that spiky skin on those flip-flop wearin reptilian-ish feet of mine? OKAY!! All of this on top of a fabulously done pedicure for $33! But I was feeling extra Housewives of Studio City-y so I also treated myself to the Paraffin Wax foot treatment for an extra $8 (Holy Moses, I don't care what you go in there for... DO THIS). I also added a pretty flower to my big toes so add on another $6 (does any one else remember when these were free?) and my total was $47, before tip. For my little mini spa session, it really wasn't bad at all! I think the prices are definitely fair and worth it, and I'm pinching pennies like the rest of us! I also liked and appreciated that they didn't try to up-sell me on any and everything. I mean, all the ladies that weren't busy when I sat down in the spa chair were eager to ask if I also wanted a manicure while I got a pedicure, which I thought was super professional and awesome! I didn't want one, and they didn't pester me repeatedly! I think I was asked very politely twice. My pedicurist even nearly down-sold me the paraffin wax lol. She told me after the sea salt scrub and callus removal I might not need it. Not in a "I'm-tired-of-handling-your-tired-feet" kind of way, she just gave me a heads up and said, "but you just feel them and tell me if you want it." And I did. How I did. Another amazing thing was that I told them I only put in enough coins for 40 minutes at the meter so if it took longer I'd just need to go put more in. I'm sure this can't be daily protocol, but they were nice enough to put it in for me -- with THEIR change!! As soon as I sat down she said, "I can do it for you!" And 35 minutes later with out prompting, she asked which car was mine and filled my meter! Way to make up for your lack of parking! Not only that, but when I added the Paraffin wax treatment, she put in MORE change. I realize I'm jumping over spare change here, but I think the gesture is just awesome. For the state my feet were in, she did an amazing job! Lotion wasn't even helping get them smooth and my own stone scrubber seemed to just make it worse. Now they're SO much better- it's incredible! Once the wax wore off completely they weren't AS smooth as butter underneath anymore, but with a little lotion they're touchably soft and smooth again. I'm sure for normal non-reptilians your feet will be deliciously smooth! I feel like if I just do it one more time soon mine will be better than ever. This was my first Paraffin wax treatment, and I was in love. She put some very warm wax in a bag for each foot and made little wax molds of my feet. I have been here a few times (no more than 5) and it was recommended to me by two separate people. I always had decent experiences, but it was never a place I would choose to go myself; if I went it was always with one of the two people who told me about the place. However, this past time I went, I got a HORRIBLE STAPH INFECTION in BOTH of my big toes. I only got a pedicure (thank goodness!) and two days later both of my big toes were red, swollen, and oozing. Thankfully, I got myself on some strong antibiotics really quickly and went to the doctor who told me that had I not gotten on antibiotics when I did, the situation would have been much more serious (I am a diabetic and these types of infections are really dangerous in a person like me). I am very disappointed and upset, as this is a sign of both the fact that they are obviously not doing the pedicure correctly (cut my toes) and are definitely not sanitizing their tools properly or at all! I would certainly hope that any current and future customers keep my awful experience in mind and choose to frequent other, more sanitary nail place in the area. Or at the very least, learn from me, and bring your own tools! read more

I was in town for a wedding and my cousin suggested we go here for a $30 mani/pedi. Right off the bat, I should have expected less than what I normally like because I would only be paying $30. In general, the place looked outdated and a bit run down. The massage chair I was sitting in was broken and it looked like they had a small DIY construction project going on in the corner by the sink. When I arrived, they got started right away, great! I had one woman working on my toes and one working on my hands simultaneously. Not a huge deal, but not my preference as I continually had to keep passing my hands back and forth to whatever side she was sitting on. Then the pedi woman tells me it's an additional $7 for the callous removal. That's half the reason I enjoy a pedicure, so that was disappointing. She also really dug into my nail cuticle. Fortunately did not draw blood! Additionally, the nail file that she used looked almost warn smooth and was white from all the nails it had been used on before. *shudder* Overall, I was satisfied with how my nails looked, but the process left something to be desired, plus, I question the cleanliness of the place and the tools. This place is w/in walking distance from Ramen Jinya & Stout. While unassuming from the outside, it is an oasis once inside. Decor is not to be underestimated, and this place delivers. Their hours & prompt ability to accommodate walk-ins is a plus. My french tip mani & regular pedi came out to $48- very reasonable. I had disclosed to my manicurist that I had a papercut on one of my fingers. She was very careful & the service was not compromised at all. I really appreciated that. Two nail technicians worked on me simultaneously. Both were gracious & friendly. They usually only take gratuity in cash but since I was unprepared as a first time client, the staff was gracious enough to accept my gratuity in card as an add-on. I'll be back! read more

I am VERY unhappy with my experience. The nail tech was very rude. She wasn't patient, gentle, or friendly. I had my gel removed, new gel polish and a pedicure. I asked her not to use the drill to remove the polish and she insisted anyways. Then, after drilling, she scraped the polish off instead of letting it soak and hurt me several times without apologizing. She didn't attempt to make any kind of conversation. When I went to check out she barely looked at me. I rarely have any kind of experience where I do not leave a tip, this was one of them. And, the inside of the shop is not sanitary looking! It looks like it needs a good cleaning inside. Wish I had nicer things to say. I won't be returning. :( read more

The proliferation of nail places in Los Angeles allows (the universal) you to be a total snob when picking a regular nail place - which, let's face it, is awesome. I've been here on several occasions, and have never had a huge complaint...but it doesn't deserve five stars, or even four - not in LA. Why? 1) Parking is virtually non existent. They might put money in your meters if you ask them to, but I base a lot of the mani/pedi experience upon overall convenience. 2) They prefer cash, but they don't really tell you that until you pay. Cash is difficult to get out of a wallet when you've just gotten your nails done, even if they help you. 3) It's still a little pricey, and it takes a while to get your services done - I don't have tips, I shiny buff or clear polish on the hands and do a full pedicure, and I usually expect to be in and out in about forty minutes or less if they aren't busy. 4) They close early. I want to say 7:00 or 7:30 at the latest? For LA, it's got to be at the earliest an 8PM close time. All of this being said, the staff is very sweet and never rude, and they have a good selection of polish colors. If you usually choose that terrible Nail Garden in the Ventura and Vineland shopping center, try this place out instead. You won't have the herd of manicurists mean-mugging you as you enter, and I can guarantee it'll be a more relaxing experience. They do an okay job with eyebrows here too. My favorite place in this immediate area is NailArt, right across the street. The salon itself isn't nicer, but the owner is legit and knows how to run an efficient business. $30 for mani/pedi... Totally clean, spacious, fantastic option for gettin' yer nails did in the Val. They have a great selection of Essie Neutrals... literally every color that falls in the pink/white/cream/nude range is available! They didnt rush, but could have spent a tiny bit more time on the massage. BUT thats always my hope. :) You can definitely find cheaper, but in this case, the quality is totally worth it. read more

I really love this place for three reasons: the super sweet staff, they do a great job on my nails, and they're not scam artists like a lot of other nail spas in the area. The girls are very warm and friendly, and all of them are perfectionists & take their time. The spa is clean, airy, and spacious, so there is no need to worry about harsh smells. My only complaint is the parking situation. This spa is located right on Ventura Blvd. and it's street parking only. Sometimes I get lucky and find a spot right in front, other times I'll have to park across the street and walk over, which can be a little bit of an inconvenience, but it's still worth it :) read more

Let me start with. Yes. They do great nails. At least, when I actually get in to see them and make it through an appointment, they did with my gels. COMMUNICATION SUCKS: I was in there a year ago because of the great reviews. First visit, great work great appointment. But after 2nd appointment, I arrive they keep me waiting a half hour. ?! Didn't even offer any explanation why or how soon it would be?!I Sorry but this is rude. All you have to do is COMMUNICATE. Fast forward a year later to this last weekend. I went a week and a half ago and the nails were pretty and stayed put. Second visit, I call to see if I can come in she says, "Just come in" I tell her I need an actual time as I schedule around other things in my life. (I envy someone who has the luxury to wait 30 minutes or more.) So she says come in at 3:45. I come in and after 10 minutes of not even a hello, after going to their ATM (BTW they only take cash but have an ATM if you need it for only a $1 charge. Ironically (and probably a sign) the ATM only spit out $20 not the $80 I typed into it. It was clear which way the energy was heading so I asked the girl who was supposed to be with me already, what was happening? She said she'd messed up on a nail on another customer and it was taking longer. ?!?!? I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT, I specifically asked what time and now this again?? I had to be somewhere and knew my gels and pedi wouldn't be done in time. So I left super frustrated and went to my HOLLYWOOD NAIL SALON which is AWESOME also, COLOR COAT NAILS on SUNSET BLVD. I have another review on that--they took me right away only making me wait 5 minutes being a walk-in. They just simply don't communicate, don't offer an apology and put it back on the customer if you have to wait and get frustrated. It is SUPER ANNOYING especially because they do DO GREAT NAILS. I just really don't appreciate being treated like this having come the extra distance for them. I'm totally aware I'm using this forum to vent my frustration- GO to this salon maybe you wont have the same experience. I also recommend them for bridal parties. BUT BOOK THE PLACE OUT A WEEK IN ADVANCE SO THEY DON'T KEEP YOU AND YOUR GIRLS WAITING HOURS TO GET IN. Super bummed as I KNOW the manager knew same thing happened last time and they remembered why I left a year ago and so did I so it is almost as though they were intentionally pulling this routine on me again. Either that or they are simply unable to communicate clearly with intense personalities that only want an answer and when they can actually be seen. I wish them well, they've been in Studio City FOREVER so I am sure they are doing just fine and will continue to. If the manager or owner reads this I would really like a phone call to understand why you feel it necessary to lay the blame on me when you do not communicate or care one way or another about telling someone what is going on so they can reschedule or go elsewhere.
