Romano Pizza is, quite simply, the BEST. Not just in the New York / New Jersey area but on the east coast. We discovered it ten years ago while visiting NYC and go back every time we come up from Virginia. The sauce, crust and cheese are perfection and their creativity is amazing. My favorite is still the classic cheese but they're always trying something new! Today we got to sample the rainbow pizza and it was DELICIOUS. This place is an absolute go to if you love pizza. My girlfriend and I's go to is the Sicilian pizza. It's the perfect combo of fluffy with a crunch at the bottom. Another plus is that it reheats really well in the oven! It's hard to find a good sicilian pizza in the area. Also the staff is so kind. We have ordered from many places in the area but the combination of the staff/service and food quality is unmatched. I really enjoy this pizzeria, especially their specialty pizzas! Their regular cheese pizza is okay but I love that they offer three different pizza sizes to choose from. The zeppole are sooo good when I'm craving them, this is my go-to spot. My favorite specialty pies are the bacon ranch chicken and the buffalo chicken. Both are packed with flavor and have the perfect balance no one flavor overpowers the other, just the best blend all around. Parking is honestly terrible, so I usually stick to takeout. Gonna give credit where its's due. The slices have been hitting lately. Have always viewed Romano as a Weehawken staple ever since right before I moved here in 2018. Really like the pasta specialty slice and the chicken parm slice. While on vacation decided to check out some of the local restaurants near by. We stopped at this establishment because it looked like a neighborhood restaurant and my granddaughter wanted pizza. Definitely a little hole in the wall kind of place but with a huge personality. You get greeted immediately upon entering and you see and sense all the hustle and bustle behind the scene. Literally one of the worst meals / restaurants in my 2 years in NJ. Pasta fagiole soup was tasteless bland watery. A waste. Chicken parmigiana hero was DRY, rubbery, tasteless, hardly any sauce or cheese in a a gummy low quality roll. Disgusting. Threw everything in the garbage. This pizza hit the spot! I usually go for what I would consider 'lighter' pizzas (something with veggies) but this was a winner. The crust is between thin and regular which I appreciated...it had a chewiness that was nice. The pops of fresh tomatoes tied the flavors of the proteins all together. Your beverage(s) may be missing, the literal pepperonis on a pie you'll count using the index fingers of your friends etc etc. What was once an epic place to order a pie, fries with cheese and garlic knots..... Now costs more than simply going to Hoboken (NJ) to even a, "cheap" corner pizzeria and yet you'll receive better service, prices that reflect what the actual ... you're ordering. Suffice to say.. I Used to be a long-term customer as fr back as 2016. Now? I cannot morally in good faith recommend this IF you're using Ubereats OR are in a rush (hence, you aren't checking what's in the box or bags.). It's become so apparent I've actually just gone with Domino's. From the outside it seems like a weird shift/downgrade, except they're actually consistent. If something is missing, it's across the board- However, with Romano's - not even an AI robot can score a deal, good pie price-wise (and no, it's not inflation; scientific and university studies have shown -meaning it's not theoretical, it's actual proof of the real world) fast food has gone up by approx. 300%... A statistic NO OTHER service or platform has shown as much growth except for the OPPOSITE; such as KFC. It's sad, and genuinely does 'suck' but it's the objective truth. Should ANY spokesperson or representative for 'Romano Pizza' care to reply (in good faith,,); What matters is what everyone else gets delivered. Why? Because whether you ordered your pizza online, on Ubereats, etc. It should come (ATLEAST) cut/sliced as you specified before ordering [this is just a simple and literally most baseline example by the way.] Should they or any other repeatedly fail this - the answer should be obvious. Use your own judgement. I do not posses a "PR" company, yet - some things re obvious... Like single Big Mac being $13 vs #$3 (NOT a/the meal lol. Merely the approx. 1/4" short patty to save on "materials*" . Pathetic? Absolutely. Useful to the industry (meaning I'm grateful, for all I don't know who or how many but ALL data has been submitted for material as much for marketing as strategic/methods of creating sales amongst my peers. *Ask yourself or merely a collogue from Highschool to confirm this info. In expectation of low expectations, this review will actually be monitored for/from users besides this account for truly anonymous data and the integrity that follow. Any 'official' reply will be treated with the same amount of degree of scrutiny as anyone everyone deserves a good pizza when they're quite literally spend an HOUR if not close of their daily wages. Shame. Suffice to say the best part is when the delivery driver makes demands for you to go against the very rules if not instructions you set for making a successful (delivery for THEM).. We finally tried the pizza. And a gyro. And some wings (yes, the quarantine 15 is REAL). We had the Romano's Special Pizza (meatball, sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms and green peppers). I didn't love the thick crust but the rest of the pizza, including the ample amount of toppings made up for that fact. The gyro was surprisingly good for a pizza spot. On the other hand, the wings were not that good. They are heavily breaded, so it tastes more like you're eating buffalo-flavored breading instead of actual chicken. Romano Pizza was just what I needed for a nice pizza night. I got their gluten free pizza and their gluten free meatballs & I've got plenty of info on both for you! The pizza was one of the better gluten free pizzas I've ever had. The cheese sat perfectly on top of the crust layer, the undercarriage was strong so when I picked up a slice I had no issues with a soggy wet and messy pizza. None of that! It was perfectly crisp, the pepperonis were thick and perfectly toasted & the flavors just melted in my mouth. For the meatballs, they were meh. I liked that they had a gluten free option but after tasting them, I felt like I could have done without. Maybe missing some seasoning? I know gluten free options can be a bit bland sometimes but I definitely felt like some more spices would be good. They were also drowning in marinara. The marinara was good but the presentation looked a little weird. I'll definitely be back for the pizza & appreciate the folks who work here. Their ingredients are usually fresh and the pizza stays OK for like two days. also have some desserts in the soda fridge. I mean for warming up pizza in an oven takes a lot of time servers usually friendly there's a credit card fee. Places is pretty small. We're having so many options and it does stay open until 1 AM. Came across Romano's when sitting at a traffic light and saw a delivery car with a sign on top. Yelp reviews were mixed but photos looked promising. Couldn't order on one of the third party apps so called in our order instead. Ordered fried raviolis and a large pie with pepperoni and roasted red peppers. Our delivery came pretty quick. The pizza was really good - better than we were expecting. Good sauce, good amount of cheese, crispy crust. Ate a cold slice the next day and did not disappoint. Recently found this place on Yelp (yay) and decided to give the take out a try. I ordered the grandpa large pizza and regular pie (cheese). Additionally I went for the caprese salad. And last but not least, I settled for garlic bread because they were out of garlic knots. The spot is very tight and probably could not seat more than 10 total. The staff was small but all friendly. The venue is located in an 'up and coming' area. The street is filled with multiple food options and a few new establishments (apartment buildings). The immediate surrounding area is a little rough for more reason than one. The biggest being construction and parking issues. THEY WILL TOW around here. Even on a holiday. Be warned. I used to order from here all the time because it's extremely close to where I live and was always pretty good. Recently something seems to have changed and there's a lot more oil on the pizza, the cheese tastes different, and the crust isn't as good as it used to be. Sucks because it was so close and good enough in a pinch but I'll be ordering from elsewhere from now on. For the prices they're charging it's just way too expensive for what is now a crappy pizza. I've ordered from here a few times and they've been constantly good. The first time was when I returned from a trip to Italy. I was craving some good Italian food. Not the kind you find on every corner that's just "okay". I wanted something different, close to authentic and in the area. This place hit the spot and now they are my go-to in the area. Here's the breakdown... Penne a la vodka with grilled chicken... Yes please. Always delicious. The pasta is slightly al dente (not over cooked like chain restaurants, but not true al dente) it was just right. The sauce has the traditional vodka flavor, but the best part is it holds up the next day. It doesn't separate, get oily or lose it's flavor. The chicken breast is well cooked, lightly seasoned and thick. Very satisfying dish. Hawaiian pizza... Yeah, I said it. Definitely not Italian and ironically not Hawaiian either (I read somewhere it's Canadian). Anyway... it was amazing! The crust is crispy, has good flavor and a bit on the thin side. Not doughy or truly thin crust, right in between. The pineapple tasted fresh and juicy. It may have been canned but the way it was prepared allowed the perfect juicy bite, not watery or dry and chewy. The ham was thinly sliced and well balanced with the pineapples. If you like Hawaiian pizza this is a Must try. You won't be disappointed. Fried ravioli... Really, really yummy. Well breaded and seasoned, thick ravioli with the perfect amount of creamy cheesy goodness in the center. And it holds up the next day! It doesn't doesn't get hard or dried out like most. So good I can eat it right out of the fridge! Garlic bread.... Delicious. Crispy, flaky bread with what seems to be the perfect mixture of butter, oil, seasoning and fresh garlic. PPerfectto eat alone or to scoop up some extra sauce. This is Italian bread. I never have leftovers so I don't know what it's like the next day! Romano special pizza.... Here is where the disappointment come in. Just skip this one. The pizza I'd too thin to hold all the ingredients (6), it gets soggy and everything slides off so you gotta have utensils (with pizza, smh). And the toppings are thick and greasy (especially the sausage and meatballs). Yeah, that's a no from me. I'm gonna stick to pizza with 3 or less toppings and nothing too oily. Let me tell you how much I enjoyed my chicken parmesan sandwich from Romano Pizza -- I didn't throw away the paper menu that came with our delivery; in fact, I put that bad boy right on my fridge for the next time I'm hungry for carbs at almost midnight. Sandwich was big enough for the both of us to share when he didn't take a liking to the cheeseburger he ordered. Tangy marinara sauce & stretchy mozzarella cheese was layered on in perfect portion; my sandwich was not soggy or dripping. About $18 for our order.
