We didn't know what to expect when we entered this little storefront. The menu seemed much more expansive than the enormous slices at the counter. We ordered a meatball and cheese calzone and mussels marinara. The gentleman behind the counter brought us a plate of garlic knots on the house. They were doughy and garlicky. The calzone was really a thing of beauty- stretchy mozzarella and rich ricotta. The only thing that kept this from being a five star event was the plastic cutlery. I mean...I love pizza but there is something about Romano pizza that keeps me coming back. They only offer small and large pies, but it's so good I rarely have more than 2 slices left. This is by far the worst pizzeria place I've ever been to. So gross! I paid for the pizza because I didn't realize the problem before. I am under the suspicion that all these stars it garnered were paid for. It was very messy, dirty and decorated with a super humongous cockroach. The texture of the cheese was like whipped cream cheese, it would smudge and have a bad off taste. The chicken fingers were very similar to DINOSAUR chicken fingers, the ones you buy at grocery stores for children. The fries were soggy and bland. The jalapeño poppers were okay despite using random yellow cheese inside. I just can't believe I spent $40 on such slow and disgusting service. Pizza delivery came in about an hour as expected. I ordered a large pie half pepperoni / sausage and half plain. For a place averaging a four star, when I saw the pizza I was immediately disappointed. This was more of a 2.5 Star really. The main issue is the crust. A single bite requires the level of effort you would expect from a microwave reheat. Meanwhile the end crust snapped before it bent. Interestingly enough it wasn't overcooked, but it was brittle and not worth eating. The cheese was decent, but it also lacked sauce. It was also pretty oily which isn't always a big deal but taking a look at the picture it just didn't look appetizing. Really? You couldn't pop it in the oven and make it what a Nutella pizza should be? Strawberries were apparently not in season this time. Ordered delivery for 1 pie at 10:45pm last night and it didn't get delivered until 12:40am. Every time I called they said 10-15min and saying they are so busy. I get busy... but having a single pizza pie delivered 2 hours after the order was taken (along with an 8min car ride) is unacceptable and a strong indicator of poor operations. I'm in shock! Before I started ordering I told my boyfriend that whatever we ended up ordering won't be that good realistically because it was so late (literally midnight) . I can honestly say this is the best delivery/online order I have ever gotten. It came extremely hot and fresh. The food was beyond amazing. We ordered Penne vodka with cutlets on top, chicken franchise and a side of fried Calamari. Both were unbelievable. Not only that but each portion was twice the size of a normal dish and we had no chance in finishing both. Absolutely loved their Chicken penne vodka pasta, delicious...I was craving pasta and this was the only Italian restaurant open late around, so we decided to try it out. It's pretty small, has about 5 small tables to sit and eat. They also have a TV so while we ate were able to watch the game that was on, as we waited for our pasta I noticed that there was about 3-4 different delivery guys. Which to me was a lot, they must get a lot of deliveries and the food and service must be good & fast. Each time one delivery guy would come in, another would be out on their way. My husband kept telling me how good the pizza is here. I didn't really believe him. The guy eats things like the frito chicken enchilada sandwich from subway and genuinely thinks it tastes delicious. So today after a long day of doing what I do, when he offered to head over to Romanos and get us each a slice I was skeptical.....
