This place is NOT clean. For the absurdly high prices, you would think this place would be a safe and clean restaurant. Pizza slices are kept out for long periods of time and they touch those slices without washing hands after handling the register, touching their face, or wiping down surfaces. Health hazard alert. The pizza was cold even after putting in the oven & found hair on our box @ the register. After calling it out they just picked it off like it was a common occurrence. Then continued to touch the next customer's pizza without washing their hands. This place has gone downhill since opening (my 2nd visit), if you want to eat a dirty pizza - you will be pleased to know it's a free topping. read more

I came here the other day after craving pizza, and reading lots of good reviews on Yelp. It was just for a quick bite, and asked them to heat up a piece of pepperoni pizza that was sitting out in the display. I'm not sure if it was because the pizza was already made (which was probably the case), but, personally, I think it was just average. It was super crunchy, very light-almost too light with little taste in the dough, and very light on the cheese and sauce; again, with minimal taste. It tasted really similar to a French bread pizza for lack of a better comparison. Going to get the food, I knew it was a different, square, "Roman" style pizza, but still thought it lacked that pizza taste you're used to. Ultimately, the lack of choices for the size of the pizza is what was disappointing for me. I would never order a slice of pre-made pizza sitting in a display, but they don't have a small pizza on their menu. The next size is a "half tray" that could easily cost $25-$30 if you wanted toppings. For 1-2 people, that's pretty expensive for just wanting a small slice or two each. It's like they're trying to make a point that if you want freshly made pizza, you have to pay $25-30. Also, this type of "Roman" pizza doesn't reheat well like the traditional, ny-style pizza does; it's way too dense. Personally, I don't think this style of pizza should be offered in slices or pieces. I would only go back if they made it fresh, but again, then I'd have to get at least the half tray. read more

Even though I've been to Rome a few times, I've not had Roman pizza and always looked for Neopolitan pizza. This was my first time, and it was absolutely delicious!! The pizzas are in rectangles and even though it looks like the crust would be thick and heavy, it's actually deceptively crispy and light on its feet. All the ingredients are so fresh, including the sauce. I'm craving it as I type this! We had the pepperoni and the mushroom/sausage. My favorite was the mushroom/sausage, although I tend to be the supreme pizza one in the family. I can't wait to go back and try the other specialty pizzas. We ordered 3 single "slices" which was a lot bigger than I thought. It's because two rectangular slices equal a regular one of what I thought was one "slice." Just prior to Covid, a few of my favorite restaurants closed (Jim's, Saga, Bologna Cafe, Tokaj, etc.) so it is so nice to have a quality restaurant open in the Gulf Gate area. read more

Absolutely one of the best pizza I have ever had. They let the dough rise for four days so all the gluten is removed and any natural sugars. It's amazing crunchy and delicious. All the ingredients including the pepperoni were top quality. A half size is similar to an extra large pizza at most places in my opinion. It's high hydration, long fermentation dough produces a crust that is exceptionally light and airy with a real crunch. Paired with unique (for Sarasota) toppings and cooked in a special commercial oven in rectangular pans it really rivals the best of Rome.
