Want to be berated and told you killed your dog who died of old age? look no furthers, because that is the kind of treatment you will receive while going through the application process of this "rescue". They will tell you that you caused your animals to die painfully because you didn't give them Chinese homeopathic herbs. Rompin Paws follows a homeopathic veterinarIan practice that is problimatic is so many ways. They heavily quote a celebrity veterinarian who, when googling, the second most common search is "veterinarians name Quack!" They are nothing but re-sellers who only take in/rescue designer breeds and charge for their specific brand of dog food and care. And per the owners Facebook page, she has had tons of cases of Parvo in her home rescue, and has lost multiple dogs and puppies to the illness in February 2023 alone. She is treating this illness with Homeopathic tinctures instead of following current medical guidelines.

I have no words for the type of service my daughter and her biological mother received yesterday from this woman. First off my daughter is 14 and had no idea this was a dog only shelter or contact wouldn't have been made. This place is completely unprofessional... there are millions of other places out there to help you with your pet or stray. If I could give this place a negative rating it be -100 starts! Make the drive to Noah if you can!

**i also posted this on google reviews because not everyone uses yelp and I feel this is important information.** The other reviews about Cheryl's abusive treatment of potential adoptive families are absolutely true. We lost one of our chihuahuas in early March and have since been looking for a new buddy for our remaining senior chihuahua. I really should have read the google reviews before applying. Other's have complained about slow response but Cheryl replied back quickly - Now I wish she hadn't replied at all because the email I received was absolutely the most hostile response I have ever received from a shelter. Cheryl took Umbridge with the fact that I don't have my 13 year old chihuahua (who on a dedicated exercise routine and instead let the dog play, run around, and go for short walks outside at her own pace. Apparently this makes me a cruel and neglectful owner because I am not rushing her to surgery (which isn't even recommended as treatment usually) or putting her on the very specific supplement regimen that Cheryl feels is necessary. I see that the owner is quite active in the comments here so I would like to share what my response was to their email: "I appreciate that you feel there are red flags and I would have happily discussed them if you felt I need to be educated on something. We have worked diligently with our vet in regard to feeding, exercise and overall health of our chihuahuas. Your response was so shameful and hostile I don't even know what to say. Cheryl, you are the founder so I'm guessing the buck stops with you - and since you wrote this response I have little hope that this email will do anything. Bottom line, this is an abhorrent way to respond to someone and I sincerely hope you take some time to evaluate how you interact with people." I am also posting a photo of the email that was sent to me in the first place so folks can see for themselves exactly what kind of interaction this was. I would say that anyone who wants to adopt from this shelter better have a thick skin and a very healthy sense of self esteem in order to survive the process. Edit To Add - Cheryl's response was just as delightful as expected. Apparently, working with a Vet is a scam you should just google it. I feed my dog Fresh Pet dog food and apparently that kills them? My 16 year old Chihuahua that recently passed is because I am a terrible owner and she would want to confiscate my dogs because as a rescuer with access to google she must be the best dog owner ever. I recently had 2 different pups that we brought home as a trial that we did return to the rescue because we did not think we were the best fit. Both dogs turned out to be pets who would do best in a house with a fenced yard rather than an apartment. But apparently being conscious of whether an adoption is a good fit makes me an unfit and abusive owner. Jesus. What a piece of work.

Interface with potential adopter's needs to really improve if this rescue organization is to survive. The "owner" was very rude and abusive.

The staff and volunteers clearly care deeply about every animal that comes through their doors. They took the time to get to know us, listen to what we were looking for, and make sure Poppy was a good fit for our home and lifestyle. They were honest, patient, and extremely knowledgeable, answering all of our questions and offering great advice for a smooth transition. You can tell how much love and effort they put into socializing, caring for, and advocating for each animal. Poppy came home healthy, well cared for, and already showing the benefits of the compassion she received there. The shelter itself is clean and well organized, and the adoption process was clear, fair, and focused on what's best for the animals. We are so grateful to Everett Animal Shelter for bringing Poppy into our lives and for everything they do for animals and families in our community. If you're thinking about adopting, supporting, or volunteering, this is exactly the kind of place you want to be involved with.

I've been to several shelters in the past year to adopt and it's been up and down. I went here on a Saturday after work and brought home my fur ever baby girl. I'm a proud happy fur mom . This is the happiest day of my life . I cried so many tears of joy when I was able to adopt my new female dog. I named her Sasha. Previously known as Oldsmobile. Sasha is the absolute sweetest girl ever. Sasha is what my heart needed. As a puppy she is very smart. Introducing to crate has been fairly well. Eating wow this girl can eat, run, do sprints around the house, yard and is super excited. I am too lol. Potty training is going very well in the morning she wakes me up with kisses to say she has to go and stands by door we go out. We have a routine. Totally recommend Homeward Per adoption to everyone. You will never be disappointed. The accept donations from you if your pet has passed away, been surrendered or you just want to donate, food, toys, supplies for dogs and cats. They are given water and food on regular schedules. We have adopted from Seattle Humane two times now. I would've given them 5 stars except for this policy of letting potential adopters take their time keeping a dog on hold while others wait. Here was our recent experience: We found, met, played with a dog that we instantly loved and would've adopted immediately. But we were told that these three sisters (or maybe they were friends) had put their name in ahead of us to visit with this same dog. However, this group of 3 girls also had put in their name to see two other dogs. So Seattle Humane told us we had to wait until these girls visited with all three dogs and then we had to wait until they made up their minds! There was NO TIME LIMIT for them to decide. We are experienced dog owners and have been for 50 years. We knew we wanted this particular dog. She was gentle, got along with kids and other dogs, etc etc. TWO HOURS LATER ( no exaggeration), those three girls decided they wanted the dog that we wanted. We were happy for them, but why did Seattle Humane waste our time? Why didn't they have time limits? These girls wanted to look at all three dogs. What if they wanted to look at 10? I asked if Seattle Humane could call us if the dog was available and we could go home and wait. They said no they don't do things like that. I'll always donate to them because of the animals. Not because of this idiotic policy of letting potential owners take their time. And btw, they don't vet potential owners like other rescues do. I wish they would for the sake of the animal.

Some people manage to get pre-approved for pets but there is no way to do that on the website, which is confusing. The bad: Seattle Humane listed a dog as no special needs. We took time off work, prepared to visit and apply, we were ready. First in line, the volunteer told me before we met the dog she's undergone 3 operations - 2 for cancer- since arriving. Also she had a major bladder operation and requires special food and no treats, recurrence is likely. None of these are deal breakers for potential adopters w a big budget for operations, but why wasn't this in the description. We met the dog and she was cute, but we didn't get a room- we got to go in her little kennel and squat down (avoiding the urine) and try to get to know this dog who is still wearing a big plastic e-collar. Poor pup! Also meeting her first me, then my husband (as volunteers handed out peanut butter on bags as enrichment which she wanted badly) was chaos. I know these places are busy, and smaller animals are in demand, but for the sake of the dog's success in a new home please be more up front about medical problems AND reward our time outside in the cold lined up for opening by giving us a place to visit where we could both meet the dog without her bumping her plastic head protector on us. Last spring my husband was first in line seeing a dog- they sat him in the kennel w a dog who never came out from the divider in back. They interrupted his visit to say "sorry someone was ahead of you, you need to leave". This was another odd case of a successful dog family being treated like we're really not welcome nor do they care if we adopt. Our last dog lived to be almost 18, our last two cats were 18 and 19 when they passed. Our dog and one cat we're both special. Medical needs. I've trained and shown dogs and I volunteered with animal rescues for over 20 years. I've been on multiple boards of directors for shelters. Adopters are potential donors and supporters and I wish Seattle humane took that more seriously. We were very sad that the dog we had hoped to adopt and arrived. Prepared to apply turned out to have medical needs that were never disclosed. That little dog could've been taken home by the wrong family who really doesn't understand the scope of her medical needs because they didn't find out until they got to the counter and already had their heart set on her. That is the wrong journey for the dog and the humans.
