I was looking for a dentist to help with Invisalign for a while. One of my good friends recommended Dr Baer and I took his referral. My friend ended up with a beautiful smile and I wanted the same for myself. The office in itself is small, clean and very comfy. I went initially for a consult but was told some minor work needed to be done in order to move forward with the Invisalign. I had to get a filling and a crown and both were done seamlessly. Dr Baer seems to be gifted! I was always petrified of getting a simple filling because of the pain associated with it. He also plays music while working and he has great choice in music, you'll somehow forget what's happening inside your mouth! He works so hard on making sure the work is done right and that you're happy with the work. He also has amazing bedside manners and so do all of his staff. They want to get to know you on a personal level and always want to know how you're doing. They work very hard at making sure you feel comfortable and make yourself at home. While you're here, you'll be sure to feel like if you're with some friends who are fixing your teeth. I've been to a few dentists around this area and I have to say my favorite has been Dr. Baer. We start our Invisalign treatment within a few weeks but I know my experience will only get better. I visited This office using a Groupon--which for this dentist is like an EBT card except the dentist will make sure you get no monetary value or experience from his craft. I thought the receptionist was professional. The assistant was so kind and very lovely. I also thought the dentist was kind but very disingenuous with his service.- The problem I had with the service was literally everything pertaining to my service. He apologized for rushing my service but I already felt this had to do with me being a groupon user. It was when the dentist started fake cleaning my teeth that I realized this may not be an honest service and I had been taken. I went to see this dentist bc I was looking for a new dentist but not at the cost of my insurance so I bought a Groupon. When I got my teeth cleaned by this dentist, I kid you not, I don't even think the instrument touched my teeth. Only towards the end he picked out some tarter and scraped tiny parts in my teeth. I was so ashamed because here I am with my delta dental ppo card using my Groupon only for a dentist undercut the service I received . Personally, I like to get my teeth cleaned quarterly so I'm use to coming out of pocket. But I have never felt so devalued receiving serving that I paid for only to know the person wasn't willing to give me their best because they did not think I earned the value. When they took X-ray of my teeth, it came in a 1in by 1in X-ray as oppose to a full 8x11. This was also confirmation to me that his groupon is not meant to be a steal for you, it's meant to be at no cost to him more. And since my groupon is $45 and I paid $45 at the office(not with Groupon), he still only give me less than $22.50 worth of service since groupon always takes half of the merchants sales. So I actually walked away the biggest loser because I still have no dentist, no cleaned teeth and an unused delta dental ppo policy. using groupon should not give business owners the right to short their potential customers. Even at the end of my cleaning,X-ray and examination, I receive chapsticks and it was a nice gesture but I'd rather get your best service than things that hold not value to me personally. read more

Kinda torn on this. Dental cleanings (Groupons) were okay. He recommended some significant dental work and the admins wanted to book it immediately. But we went to our original dentist who actually didn't recommend doing it. We understood the situation better after we went to our original guy. Always get a SECOND OPINION in terms of the work and choices for treatment, and to compare prices REGARDLESS of the reviews. Doctor is charming but be wary and get a SECOND opinion. Don't feel pressure from the admins to book an appointment fast. -- UPDATE: MAY 1, 2018 Receive a second email from them just yesterday - over a year after the review. This time writing, "T.T.,If I recommended restorative dental treatment, I would only do so if it's medically necessary. There are instances where patients' "original dentist" may not diagnose something that's there. It's fine to have your prior dentist check, but keep in mind we only recommend necessary treatment. Thank you, Dr. Baer" Yelpers, We'd still all be wise to ask other dentists for their take on the situation, choices, etc. My situation was stable and fine for many, many years and remains fine. They close at 6, but their last appointment is at 5. Keep that in mind; I had to leave work early to accommodate their hours. Check-in was smooth and painless. The dental assistant took my x-rays. Dr. Baer came in shortly after to check my teeth. The dental assistant stayed and took notes. He'd call out teeth he wanted to take a closer look at and she'd write them down. First dentist I've seen doing this. Then he took a camera, stuck it in my mouth, and showed me on the screen which teeth had holes, etc. Another first for me. Usually dentists just tell me what needs to be fixed. He also took before and after pictures. Very disconcerting seeing the before pictures. Overall, an interesting visit. I had a lovely experience with doctor Baer. He and his staff are kind and clean. The atmosphere is very comfortable. I am giving the dental experience a 3star because I was very disappointed with the cleaning. I have never had a cleaning that didn't include flossing and the utilization of other tools. He only used one tool the entire time, His pressure was very weak, and he missed numerous spots of plaque build up that is difficult to get even with an Sonicare tooth brush. I feel like I didn't get the service I should have perhaps because it was a Groupon?? I wish it had gone differently as I am looking for a dentist in my work area and although he is a great, fun guy, I don't trust him with my teeth. read more

I found this dental office listed on my Aetna website and I chose it due to proximity to my work place and couldnt have been happier! *I was able to make a check up and cleaning appointment within days (while some places can't book you for weeks!) *It's a very small office, but the staff is very efficient and pleasant. When I got there around lunch hour, I didnt have to wait for any patient and they took care of me promptly. *The dentist, Dr. Baer, is very personable and explained every single thing he was doing (and I was only getting a cleaning!) and answered all questions I had. Just had a cleaning, exam and x-rays. Dr. Baer is extremely nice and so are the rest of his staff. My cleaning was good, although generally speaking, dental hygienist do a more thorough job in my opinion. They go deeper under the gumline, which is often more painful, but afterwards I feel like I've had a much deeper cleaning. I felt this exact way with Dr. Baer. He gave me a good cleaning but not as thorough as a dental hygienist. No complaints though, I would definitely go back to his office again! read more

SWM, 50ish, resident of midtown west, practicer of karataaay, etc. i have been a loyal, willing, thankful patient of his since 2010. (that's 7 years, bitches!) he has seen me through 12ish (perhaps more?) fillings, 4 bondings, 2 crowns, 3 apartments, 1 dog and hundreds of unsuccessful ok cupid dates. he's a keeper. and that's not just because i get so comfy that i pass out on his exam chair from time to time, but it's because he's thorough. patient. and happily helped me finance my godawful crowns at 25 during the height of my quarter-life crisis. so yeah, i might find it frustrating to have a conversation with him with several instruments in my mouth since he has a habit of starting a convo with me mid-procedure, but he wins for being my number 1 dentist. thanks, dr. b, for always being woke AF. three cheers for your sweet crew as well. hey, annivae and thalia, that's you! btw. since shit happens, don't forget to cancel your appointment 48 hours in advance to avoid the gnarly cancelation policy. read more

I had used Groupon to get my first cleaning after moving to the city and the experience was painful and unpleastant. The next time I needed a cleaning I found a groupon for Ron Baer's office which included an Invisalign consultation. The cleaning was easy, quick and painless, Dr. Baer answered all my questions (and I had a lot) about Invisalign and I am currently 4 months into my treatment. Let me say that my mom was a dental hygienist for years so I've got pretty high standards. But for some reason I just went with whoever I found on my insurance website. I lucked out. Big time. Here's a few reasons why he's the best in town. 1.) No waiting. You know how when you go to the dentist you wait in the lobby, then you sit in the dental chair and wait, then a hygienist comes in and takes some x-rays, and then you wait in the chair a little more, and then the dentist comes in and finally says "hi" and looks at your teeth, then he goes into another room and deals with another patient and you wait some more, and the hygienist comes in again and preps some implements, and then you wait some more, and then the dentist finally comes in to clean your teeth, but by then you've blown about 60 minutes just waiting around? Not so with Dr. Baer. He's got one dental room, which means he's got one patient at a time, which means he's not bouncing from room to room, which means it's all about YOU. And it's faster. 2.) Great dentist I never knew how badly my previous dentist sucked until I went to Dr. Baer. He didn't try to sell me on anything unnecessary, but when I mentioned that I wasn't overjoyed with the job my previous dentist did with my crown, he did (politely) suggest that perhaps a better one could be done. (When I told my mom this, she said "OH THANK GOD - that thing was horrible, but I didn't want to hurt your feelings.) Talk about an improvement. His *temporary* crown was already better than the permanent one the previous dentist put in. And when it came down to actually creating the permanent crown, his instructions to the lab was unbelievably detailed, right down to the hand coloring: "slight calcification striae towards the top" with blah blah blah stuff I couldn't understand. His attention to detail paid off. When I saw the crown (which he presents in a Tiffany's box) I couldn't believe it. And when it was in and I looked in the mirror, I actually pointed to the wrong tooth. It was so realistic I got it confused with one of my real teeth. 3.) Great staff Super friendly, but not in an annoying way. Completely accommodating. 4.) Good guy Great bedside (or "chairside") manner. I really did luck out finding this office. read more

I never realized how horrible my original dentist was until I went to Ron Baer. He's absolutely fantastic. I got a crown from my previous dentist, and just thought "oh, I guess crowns just look fake." Dr. Baer took one look at that and said (very nicely) that the crown wasn't well fitted, and not well molded. He redid it. Last week I was talking to a friend who is getting a crown. I told her I had one. She asked which tooth because she couldn't tell. I looked in my mirror and said "it's this one. Wait, no, it's this one. I think. I literally couldn't tell which tooth was the crown. He's that good. read more

I got a Groupon deal for a cleaning. Ron and his staff are beyond sweet. I had told him about my history with a filling and he didn't pressure me into anything. The cleaning was quick and easy. He is very gentle! I'm very weary (as we all should be!) about cleanings on Living Social/Groupons/the like because often times I feel that doctors want to get more money out of you and recommend more invasive and costly procedures. I had told Ron about a previous doc that recommended I get my filling fixed, but my 2nd opinion said it was fine. After examining my filling, Ron agreed that it did look slightly corroded. but offered alternatives because he knew I'm a not a fan of needles. I really appreciate a doctor who looks at you as a patient first and not dollar signs. I may come back to have him fix it. Just make sure you read the fine print and the 48 hour cancellation policy. Other than that, awesome office. I just wished they accepted my form of insurance. Before leaving, he made sure to pack me a little bag of Mrs. Field's cookies! Can't beat that. read more

I do not have great teeth and have sat in a lot of dentist chairs since I was a kid. Dr. Baer has been my dentist for a few years now and I can only say if you want the best, then go the best. He is gentle, thorough, kind, compassionate and smart. I am not an easy patient (nervous) and he takes the time to explain everything to me and answer all my questions. He also seems to take a lot of insurance plans including Carecredit which is a big plus if you are having a lot of work done. His office staff handles the insurance submittal as well. read more

I've had way too many dentists over the years. Dr. Baer is hands down the best. He and his staff are personable, friendly and go out of their way to make you feel as comfortable as possible from when you enter the office until you leave. I tend to get a bit squeamish around dental equipment, Novocain injections etc... but Dr. Baer takes his time to explain the processes and makes me feel comfortable with the procedures. Even though I needed treatment and had no dental insurance at the time, he was always willing to work with me in terms of costs and payments. He turned me onto CareCredit who are great and immediately approved a line of credit for me. You walk into his office and you feel like family. He and his staff really care about their patients. You're in the chair and he explains everything that will happen during that appointment and is super conscious about any pain you may start to feel. I haven't had to stop him for pain at any point of any of my visits. he takes the time to really know you. I was suggested to Dr. Baer by two of my staff members when I came down with a wicked toothache. This was a Friday and Dr. Baer was able to get me that day at 6pm to my surprise and was able to do the procedure that day! (really, in NYC this is a huge deal) - all I can say is that the staff and Dr. Baer were wonderful! I've been going to Dr. Baer for several years now, and despite my genetically terrible teeth, Dr. Baer keeps them in great shape. I've had countless fillings and a crown done by Dr. Baer, and he does great work. I was very apprehensive about my visit to the dentist since I had a Groupon and a lot of reviews as they pertain to using a Groupon at a dentist office always had similar complaints, the main ones being that they felt rushed and that they were diagnosed with a litany of dental issues which after getting a second opinion were either non existent or not as serious. Neither of these were issues that I experienced. The assistant as well as Dr. Baer were both attentive from beginning to end and addressed all my concerns. Dr. Baer did point out one issue with a filling I had however instead of trying to sway me to have the work done at his practice he said I could also do it at NYU where he knew I was having some work done. I've had lots of dentists over the years, but Dr. Baer is quite honestly the only dentist whose office I look forward to going back to. First of all, the staff is awesome - Anevay is incredibly nice and thorough when it comes to billing to make sure your insurance covers the maximum; Liz is just as kind and very professional about her work, and Dr. Baer is excellent at making you feel safe, relaxed and comfortable with his goofy sense of humor but meticulous work ethic. He takes his profession a lot more seriously than most dentists and is almost obsessed (but in a good way) about getting the job done properly. What's more, and immeasurably appreciated; Dr. Baer is always conscious of aesthetics versus best practices and will make sure that your concerns about the appearance of your smile will be addressed. I used a Groupon for exam, cleaning and xrays. Was 5 minutes late to my appointment but the receptionist was very nice about it. There was no wait. Filled out some forms that included questions about your dental/oral health and the receptionist clarified all of them for me. Dr. Baer and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Baer asked me questions about my dental history and took notes. Everyone made my visit very enjoyable and no one tried to upsell me anything. Dr. Baer made recommendations for better oral hygiene and dental health and created an optional but recommended treatment plan for my consideration. Again, no pressure. He personally performed the cleaning himself with his assistant's help and they did a great job (no blood, no water spilling/spraying). I asked plenty of questions and he patiently answered all of them. After I left, Dr. Baer emailed me to follow up on something we discussed during my visit. This shows he cares about his patients and wants them to understand their dental situation. Overall a pleasant experience and I would definitely go back (whether I have insurance or not). Highly recommended! I've seen many different dentists over the years (and have worked in a dental office before) and I can say he is one of the best. read more
