Maybe Dr. Bahar might want to ask his patients if they burp. My daughter went through needless procedures under anesthesia to find out absolutely nothing . Wrong diagnosis. My daughter diagnosed herself with research and found that she has Retrograde Cricopharyngeal Dysfunction. It was confirmed by a Dr who specializes in this disorder. So to the arrogant, full of himself Dr. Bahar. You might want to add to your questionare whether or not the patient can burp. read more

He wanted to do a rectal exam to "prove" she wasn't constipated. An invasive test on a 10 year old girl, not for diagnostic reasons but to prove she was wrong. I took her to children's hospital, had a diagnosis after one visit and two tests - one of which is a genetic disorder affecting enzymes that digest certain foods. With medication, changes in diet and monitoring symptoms are 90% better. Pediatric GI doctors are so hard to find but don't waste your time here! read more

Dr. Bahar is so fantastic! We drive over an hour to see him because that's how great he's been with our daughter. I would definitely recommend him any time to any parent. My daughter struggled her first three months. She was constantly in discomfort, fuzzy, crying and not sleeping at all. We took several trips to ER and Urgent Care. Every time was the same answer, it will pass. We were getting desperate as we did not see any improvement. Our pediatrician referred us to Dr. Ron Bahar. He was able to get a diagnostic on our first visit. Long story short my daughter started showing improvement two weeks into treatment. Dr. Bahar was very direct and caring. We were recommended by my daughter's pediatrician so we figured there was no need to check the reviews (big mistake). It was a 40 minute drive with traffic to this office. Dr. Bahar was very cold, did little to no explanation and the appointment was literally 5 minutes long. He asked my 15 year old daughter a few questions, stepped out of the room, returned, examined her and left then come back only to tell us what he was prescribing. It was not until I asked what he thought the issue was did he give me a long list of possible GI issues. DR BAHAR IS AMAZING!!! My son was having digestive problems since birth. He was non stop crying and every doctor dismissed me and said it was just reflux. Dr Bahar listened to me tested my son for microscopic blood in his stool and found he had many allergies. We got him on specialized formula and it solved his reflux issues. Dr Bahar found the root of the problem and I am SO thankful for the care he has given my son! Anytime I have a concern I call the office and Dr Bahar PERSONALLY calls me back right away!!! After receiving our bill I finally got inspired to write an honest review. Our insurance took care of most Of it...but I am just beyond flabbergasted at this doctor. I brought in my 5 month old girl who was born premature, constantly vomiting, wet burps, hiccups, agitated. I always suspected reflux but kept trying to ride it out until she was up every night twisting and turning in pain. I cut out dairy, wrote an entire food diary for myself and my daughter for a week and a half. I brought all of that, a dirty diaper, notes I had written on her symptoms because I was a concerned parent. We drove to the valley in traffic with a screaming baby and got 6 minutes of his Time? Didn't care to see the food log I wrote, the notes I wrote, brushed off all my concerns and questions, swiped her poop with some paper and dismissed us. Want to know his advice? "She's fine, she's at the age she can be manipulating you, try the extinction method". Extinction method? "Put her in a dark room and let her cry for 45 mins don't go back in by day 3 she will be sleeping." Umm I'm sorry I'm not going to ignore my infant's needs when she is clearly in pain. I left with my husband sat in more valley traffic with no answers other than a "manipulative baby." Will never ever recommend him. He is smug and arrogant and does not care about a sleep deprived parent's anxiety. Also his nurse? She didn't know how to translate kg to pounds and gave us incorrect weight. Long story short we went to someone else, got the proper diagnoses and now she is doing so much better on medication, a modified diet for mom and sleeps way better. Parents: if you have an instinct LISTEN to it. Get a second opinion! Lastly, we got the bill. Almost $800 for 6 mins and he reported ours as a "moderate case" probably for more $$. Just wrong. By far the greatest pediatric GI specialist is Dr. Ron Bahar. We were fortunate enough to see Dr. Bahar when my son's PCP was only able to prescribe probiotics for his chronic tummy pain. Since my son started taking medication, all his symptoms have disappeared. Dr. Bahar also advised us to have family members undergo genetic testing. For the past three years, I have experienced chest tightness, pain, and discomfort that lasts for a few minutes to days and goes away on its own. I have seen a cardiologist, pulmonologist, endocrine and ENT MDs, and all my lab results were normal. After a negative chest CT, my PCP diagnosed me with anxiety and started me on Xanax PRN. So, during the past three years, I have become accustomed to my tight chest and occasionally being unable to take big breathes in. However, on the suggestion of Dr. Bahar, my family underwent genetic testing, and sure enough, my test revealed the FMF gene as well. I'm now taking medication that has resolved all my issues, and I'm thankful that Dr. Bahar prevented us from living in excruciating agony and suffering for the rest of our lives without receiving any care. My child and I visited several doctors, but none of them knew how to diagnose us. I can't even begin to picture what our lives would be like without a diagnosis. Wish I could give him and his office zero stars!!! My son went to him a few times, visits were super short and very impersonal. One time our son had a very high fever and we didn't want to bring him in for the follow up visit so we called the office to see if we could bring him at a later date or time but office made it seem crucial for us to show up. Once we showed up he seemed like it was no big deal and the visit lasted 2 minutes!!! It seems they were more worried about the office fee and selling the doctors book in the lobby than the well-fair of our child. Despite all these issues we recently asked for them to fill out the days and times we visited them in a form required by state. Not only were they the hardest office to get to fill out the form, they only filled out the patient hasn't been seen since 2018, not what we requested! Worst doctor I've ever taken my child to!! We waited a couple months to get an in-office appointment with this guy and he was extremely rude! At our 1st, telephone appointment he said he'd send a guide on fiber foods that we can give our child to help with constipation. Then he emailed a link to a hospital 2 page list of foods. Then he said he wanted to see our child in person to do a digital exam. We waited a couple months and went in for the appointment. Dr. Bahar asked our child if he could do an exam. Our child said no, so the doctor said okay, well I am very sure I know what is wrong with you (diet), so just follow my instructions exactly and everything will be fine. When my husband asked if he could admit our child to the hospital to clean him out, Dr. Bahar responded that he could, but he will only get backed up again. Then he said there was no need to make another appointment and had the nerve to then say "Call anytime during the week if you need help". What kind of help? More of the NO HELP AT ALL AND WASTING OUR VALUABLE TIME that he already provided? No thanks! Listen to all the bad reviews! They are here for a reason. What a joke this guy is! I can say Dr.Bajar Is a Rude and Not a understanding Specialist Doctor! I've waited till my insurance approved my son to see him. For my first appointment all he did was ask 2 questions and prescribed him miralax when a Er Doctor have already done. Like I mention to him my Son is Autistic and he doesn't like the taste and refuses to take it. My son has been in pain/ Aggressive due too this pain and unable to poop matter. Had my second appointment with him , I wait about 45 mins to see him. Then comes in the room rushing in talking loud talking about if I have gave him the miralx ? This doctor is GODSEND! In the past my 10 year old has seen 3 other GI doctors and NONE of them have been able to figure out what's wrong with my son throughout the years they all said he's got GERD and would send us on our way home... at times I felt so discouraged leaving with more questions than answers but NOT this doctor!! Dr.Bahar is straightforward, let's you know right away what he thinks it could be, helps offer treatments to help alleviate symptoms temporarily while he works to try to figure out what mystery diagnosis your child may have ... he requested tests and exams other GI's never even thought of performing. Thanks to Dr.Bahar I now know my son is allergic to nuts, wheat,soy, and sesame seeds. I have now removed those things from my sons diet and have seen great improvement. On top of that he requested labs and imaging for further investigation and so far we've found my son has trouble with digestion. As a parent you just know when something isn't right and all you want are answers for the sake of your child, let me tell you "I AM GETTING THEM" and it's almost a sense of relief knowing and finding out what's causing his issues. My daughter who was born 2 lbs and spent a month in the NICU was referred to see Dr. Bahar because she was having feeding issues. The first time we saw him my baby was 4 months old and weighed 8 lbs and I was incredibly upset and looking for answers as to why she writhed in pain when offered the bottle. Dr. Bahar barely looked at her, barely looked at me, just kept his head down staring at his iPad or computer while asking me questions. His conclusion, without so much as examining her or watching how she refused to eat which I offered to show him, was to say that she was just being obstinate. Yes, this DOCTOR told me that my 4 month old didn't want to eat because she basically had an attitude problem. Oh okay. He told me that babies know we can't make them sleep or eat or go to the bathroom so they use this to have control. Uh huh. I swear to you this is true. I shouldn't have gone back but honestly I didn't know what else to do and my pediatrician had recommended the guy so I did go back and he gave me no other answers and made zero eye contact on any visit. Finally he said he could do an endoscopy but he was quite sure he wouldn't find anything. He implied that I would be putting my baby through a procedure for no reason but if I insisted he would do it. You guessed it, he found a fungal infection she'd probably gotten in the NICU from tubes. He was so rude when he told me, not to mention he doesn't accept any insurance and makes you pay up front for everything, I never went back and instead found Dr. Susan Edelstein out of Cedar's. When Dr. Edelstein found out that he did an endoscopy with nothing to sedate her in any way she was shocked. She was also shocked at the medicine he prescribed to increase her appetite which has terrible side effects. This happened 10 years ago and I still have PTSD from my experience with him. My premie baby has seen a lot of doctors in her day and I've loved them all. This guys is literally the worst. Please stay away. read more

I think that he should really look through his reviews and find a better way to deal with people. not only cocky & rude but we found a bacteria in my breast milk that had also colonized my 6 month old daughter. When we called to ask him about what formula he suggested we supplement with he told me "I am a board certified gastrointestinal specialist practicing for over 20 years and this is not a serratia marcescens (the name of the bacteria) case." well it turned out it was and could've killed her as it is deadly in infants. the $100 missed appointment fee is aggressive, if your kid is going to a GI specialist chances are your family is having a bit of a rough time. the exam room was unkept and had stains on the panels. plus parking is cash only. read more

I was very disappointed with Dr. Bahar. My daughter was throwing up every 15 minutes for three days straight. She was in the ER 3 times and then hospitalized for 3 more days. We were sent home from the hospital but my daughter was still vomiting 2-3 times a day. Her pediatrician sent us to Dr. Bahar to try to figure out why she was still vomiting. We drove 45 minutes away to see him. He spent no more than 5 minutes with us. Every time I tried to tell him what was going on with my daughter, he cut me off. He had no interest in hearing what was happening to her. He wrote a prescription for about 15 different labs, including unnecessary allergy tests. If he would have let me talk he would have known that this was not an allergy issue. His bedside manner is horrible!!! Now I have received a $250 bill from the lab for one of the tests because my insurance found it medically unnecessary. I am currently trying to get documentation from his office showing why he requested the test. I called the front desk to ask that they forward the medical records. They told me to email Dr Bahar directly. I sent him an email to which he responded that I need to talk to the front desk. I just spoke with the front desk AGAIN and they said they will tell him to refer back to my email. I have never experienced anything like this from a doctor. I strongly suggest you look elsewhere for a pediatric gastroenterologist. read more

WTF! Well we were referred to him via our pediatrician when we called to setup appt. They said we would be out of network and would face an upfront $350 fee and $175 ea. additional and they would bill our ins to try to get us reimbursed. We ended up going to another GI Dr. Susan Edelstein in BH. Fast forward 2 days later we get a call from his office, saying that they assumed we cancel our appt. Because we were out of network, they were right. Well all of a sudden they are now in network. Very, very shady! read more

After waiting for weeks for our appointment he spent literally 5 minutes with me, didn't even look at or talk to my son who is suffering from Encopresis, shoved a ton of medications that we have been using for years to no avail, and quickly set up our next appointment. He did the appointment via telephone call (due to stupid COVID) and he told me that I was giving him a headaches and making him dizzy instead of asking me politely to sit down. Dr. Bahar is by far the kindest and most knowledgeable doctor I have interacted with. I first saw him when I was 15 years old. I was very sick and very scared. He was able to immediately diagnose my condition, explain the course of treatment, and, most importantly, let me know that I was going to be okay. I remember that he talked directly to me and made me feel that I was in good hands. I had dealt with many doctors before him who not only misdiagnosed me, but did not take my concerns and my symptoms seriously. For the 8 years that I have known him, Dr. Bahar always takes the time to listen to me and makes a point to ask about my life outside of my health concerns. He has even taken the time to send me information about academic scholarship opportunities for people with my condition. He always returns my phone calls and follows up with me, he helps me with any health concerns I have, and he refers me to the best doctors out there when I need treatment that is outside of his specialty. I genuinely do not know what I would have done if I had not found him when I was so sick. Even with my roller coaster of health issues, he has always been encouraging, positive, and thorough. I was very disappointed with Dr. Bahar. He is a terrible diagnostician. He ordered unnecessary and aggressive tests in the thousands of dollars for no reason. He also referred us to laboratories and a surgery center that were not in network, but he felt more "comfortable" at. Dr. Bahar has been treating my 2 year old toddler since he came home from the hospital after being born prematurely at 23 weeks gestation (low birth weight 1 pound, 3 ounces). Dr. Bahar is very knowledgeable, experienced, and has been working very hard with our family to help our son with his feeding issues. He has changed his formula a few times until we found the best formula compatible to my baby's tummy which has help him gain weight. I stopped breast feeding at the recommendation of CHLA doctors because my son was not gaining weight. Dr. Bahar has always been VERY generous with giving us different formula samples & pediasure samples in bulk) until we found the right formula that works well with his tummy. Once we found the right formula, (Elecare jr) Dr. Bahar continued to give us samples which saved us hundreds of dollars (Elecare costs about $40-50 per can!!) My son's CHLA Doctor and Dietitian quickly gave up on my son, diagnosed him failure to thrive, and wanted an easy way out by pushing for a G-tube & made me feel like a bad mother for not agreeing to proceed with a G-Tube. Their plan was to force my son to gain weight as quickly as possible with a G-Tube without considering that my son is eating a variety of foods on his own and putting him on a G-Tube will set him back in his eating habits. Dr. Bahar on the other hand has been trying the least intrusive methods in helping my son gain weight by changing his formula and giving him appetite stimulants. We also took my son to a GI specialist at UCLA for a second opinion and the GI doctor at UCLA agreed with Dr. Bahar. My son goes not need a G-Tube. Thanks to Dr. Bahar my ex- 23weeker has been gaining weight on his own without the need of a G-Tube. Thank you Dr. Bahar for helping my son thrive!! read more

Dr. Bahar has been a very nice and thorough doctor. My daughter may have celiac disease and he has been patient with my questions, he has given us enough time during visits, and has made himself easily available to us through email and phone. You don't have to hunt him down for a call back and he will get back to you on the same day usually. He is very polite and has a gentle demeanor. Today he gave my daughter an endoscopy and I was very pleased with how professional and nice he was about the whole situation. A zero star rating would be my rating of choice. He is listed as my insurance provider and he charged a cash fee of $325 upfront. He saw my baby for less than 7 minutes and stated he can give my 9 day old infant a colonoscopy to confirm cow's milk and soy allergy (something already diagnosed by my regular ped). He has the worst bed side manner. He is so infamous of his practice that when I called a different ped's GI dr and explained to the receptionist of my having been seen by a different specialist she asked if I had taken my baby to Dr. Bahar and that she gets calls of this same nature frequently. read more

This doctor is disrespectful and doesn't seem to care about his patients. I asked to see my son and his standing patient in continues severe pain right away. When the appointment was giving for a couple of days later we demanded to come in right away the dr saw us but had a 10 minute raised voice conversation with me telling me I can't demand appointment or I can go elsewhere. Ha! My child is in pain the dr can't care less and I cannot demand an appointment and must luster to his neurotic speech about it like I'm some five year old... If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. Dr. Bahar is the WORST. He has a horrible bedside manner, is completely patronizing, and gives you about 4 minutes of his time. He doesn't hear you as a parent at all, and speaks to you as if you were the dumbest human being he's ever come across. I brought my 7 years old daughter to see Dr. Bahar in April and she was diagnosed with proctitis. The way Dr. Bahar cared for my daughter was precious. We're Brazilians and I've been a pharmaceutical sales rep in Brazil and Miami. But I never had a doctor with such professionalism and a heart like his. He was always on call and was able to call us after 3 o'clock just to follow her recovery. He might no be that kind of doctor that spend hours with you in the office, but he stays enough. We don't need a baby sitter but a doctor, so he was good enough to cure my daughter. He's not the most expense doctor in town, you can even negotiate a price with him, but of course, he needs to pay his rent and his wonderful employees who were always there for me. For one time I felt like they were my family. I recommend anybody in the world to be treated with Dr. Bahar. read more
