A rep from RoofER knocked on my door and asked to examine my roof for storm damage. I had just returned from a long shopping experience, was tired and just told him, Sure--go ahead. He examined and told me that he had found storm damage and that I should notify my insurance company, which I did. My last roof was installed in 2010, so I thought, well maybe I do need a new roof although I hadn't experienced any leakage. Insurance adjuster came out, agreed there was damage and approved roof replacement. A few days after the crew arrived at 6:00 a.m. to replace roof. HOA rules are that work should not start before 8:00 a.m. but they insisted they needed to get the work done in one day. I had no communication with them while they installed and only learned after a few days that they had replaced 33 plywood sheets for the cost of $3300 extra. Every few days I would receive another invoice for an additional amount. Another $8,000 for flashing, another couple thousand for clean up. Over the course of a couple weeks I would receive another invoice for a greater amount. It was the most frustrating experience I'd ever had with a contractor. Luckily, my insurance company was generous and covered the cost. I am an elderly widow, this was definitely outside my skillset--lesson learned. I hope they did a good job with the roof--but I cannot see the top! I cannot give them a 5 star rating because of the lack of communication and the confusion in the billing process. If I did not have a good insurance company, I do believe it could have been a financial disaster for me as I am living on a fixed income. read more

If this company comes to your door, do not answer. My experience with RoofER was abysmal. Outside of the initial estimate the entire project fell short in professionalism, responsiveness and ultimately in completing the job successfully. This company will happily take your money and go weeks without responding to messages. The quality of service is sub par. When I identified several issues during the roof install I immediately contacted multiple members of the RoofER team. I was assured that these items would be taken care of and assessed during the final walk through. When it came time for the final walk through that turned out to not be true. When they replaced the flashing on one of the skylights it was offset and looks awful. When I flagged this issue, their response was "for the skylight we reflash it we have to take them out and clean up underneath of it and place them back in place. We do our best to make sure it's done seamlessly but in older homes it's very hard. Any interior work is the customer's responsibility, it is sealed correctly." They admit it is not flush, but refuse any responsibility in fixing it. This perfectly sums up the entire experience with this company. read more

Before signing anything, speak with your insurance company--they are already familiar with this company and their aggressive approach to "maximizing" insurance payouts. They initially present a reasonable estimate for a roof replacement but later increase the price based on what they can obtain from your insurer. They also claim that certain upgrades or replacements won't cost you anything, yet may ask you to sign off on work that was never completed, such as gutters or downspouts. In my case, they quoted $22,000 but ultimately billed $29,000 after attempting to push the cost to $33,000. Meanwhile, comparable homes in my neighborhood paid under $20,000 for similar roof replacements. In there contract, they claim that they are entitled to all insurance payments This company appears to focus solely on insurance-based jobs and is highly practiced at extracting additional funds from insurance carriers. The State of Virginia recently enacted laws prohibiting contractors from handling claims or discussing policy coverage on behalf of homeowners--activities this company engages in despite the statute. I expect they will deny this, as that seems consistent with their approach. Their practices not only increase costs for homeowners but also contribute to rising insurance premiums for everyone. I highly recommend that you contact your insurance company, get an estimate, then shop roofing contractors that NOT optimized to extract money from insurance companies. UPDATE -- After posting this review a RoofER rep called me to apologize for the misunderstanding. After a couple of visits from their techs all problems were remediated to my satisfaction. I appreciated the effort so I am changing my rating to 3 stars. RoofER installed shingles on a shed roof that covers an addition however they did not install proper rain diverters. The rain falls over the side of the roof and has caused water damaged to the roof sides and rake boards. Also, the boot they installed around one of the roof vent pipes is leaking. I have tried multiple times to get them to return to repair their problems but they keep telling me it will cost me $500. These problems were of their own making. Outrageous behavior. Very unprofessional and instead of owning up to their mistakes they blame the customer. If one of their representative knocks on your door trying to sell you their service shut the door. read more

We ran into the RoofER team at a home show in Annapolis, MD in late September '23. We had recently bought a new home and replacing the roof was far from top priority, but it was in our five year budget planning. The RoofER team explained how they would work with our insurance company, USAA, to minimize costs and offered to come by for a free estimate. Skeptically, we accepted. As we did with many other "free estimates" from companies at the home show. The initial inspection, conducted the following week, was professional to a tee. The team showed up on time, assessed the roof, identified hail damage that we would have never seen, answered all our questions, and explained how they would work with USAA to process the claim. At the end of the visit, the inspector helped us (still skeptical) file the claim for hail damage with the insurance company and begin the repair process. We were asked to sign an agreement with RoofER stating if the claim was accepted we would use their services to complete the project. Honestly, we still weren't convinced the claim would even go through, but with the cost of a new roof coming in at the cost of our homeowners deductible (about 1/5th the cost of a new roof), we decided it was worth the gamble. All said and done, 60min time investment. Within a couple weeks time, USAA sent out an adjuster to verify the claim and RoofER was right there beside us, providing their professional input and pointing out what had been observed on the initial visit. 30min time investment. In late October, USAA had delivered our first claims check and we met with the project manager to discuss options. As before, the visit was timely and professional. We were given multiple options for repairs, and told the advantages and disadvantages of each. We had been disappointed with previous contractors attempts to up-sell and overcharge for every item imaginable but did NOT experience that with RoofER. In fact, the project manager actually listened to our families situation and down-sold some of the recommended repairs, claiming our money would be better spent elsewhere. RoofER provided us with multiple quotes: the bare minimum, their recommended additions, and the five-star upgrade. We picked colors, under-treatments, and roofing materials and paid a small down payment to get on the schedule. Another 60min time investment. At this point, RoofER took command of all interactions with USAA. We would forward claims documents to the RoofER HQ, but all requests for additional funding or claims-adjusting was handled by their team. USAA issued an additional three payments to cover the total repairs of the roof. In late November, we received notification of a project date in mid-December. On the day of the project, the team was on site at dawn, and had the project finished before the sun went down. The debris was cleared, and we were left with one bundle of roofing material in case of repairs. Their team did accidentally drive their vehicle over our lawn leaving tire marks, but the team lead took responsibility and has since covered the landscaping costs necessary to repair the damage. We were a little surprised with how quickly and efficiently the roof was replaced. The team did not enter the house, nor did they need to interact with us during the day. I would have felt comfortable not being around at all. Time invested, 15min total. In early January '24, our Project Manager reached out to settle the bill. After crunching the numbers, we confirmed that everything promised was in fact delivered. And again to our surprise, no hidden fees, no middle-of-the-project add-ons, no undisclosed additional charges. The insurance payments covered the costs completely (minus our deductible). We signed the completion paperwork digitally, and paid the remaining balance online. 15min. In conclusion, all of our skepticism turned out to be unjustified. As of today, RoofER has over-delivered on all their promises. For 3hrs of our time over a four month period, and the cost of the insurance deductible, we got a new 20yr warrantied roof on our home. For what it's worth, RoofER was the only company from the home show that ended up providing us with services. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to anyone looking to replace their roof in the future. They told us at the home show, it would cost us nothing to receive a free estimate and we're glad we took them up on the offer. read more

Initially, I was wary. When someone shows up at your doorstep offering to replace your roof, especially hinting at insurance coverage due to storm damage, it sounds too good to be true or even potentially deceptive. To my surprise, that perception couldn't have been more wrong. Roof-ER was thoroughly professional. They patiently answered all my queries and seamlessly worked with my insurance--who, by the way, inspected the damage themselves and concurred. Roof-ER was transparent about the entire process, informing me of potential unforeseen issues. Although we encountered a couple of these problems --plywood replacement due to its thinness and some nail pops--they had forewarned me. The plywood issue was even addressed with my insurance. The 'nail pops' situation unfortunately affected an upstairs room but they had warned it may happen. That's the one area that unfortunately will just end up on your shoulders. The installation process was executed efficiently with a proficient crew. The finished product not only looks stellar but also held up impressively during a subsequent storm--a testament to their work. Roof-ER's dedication and honesty were standout qualities. While I hope the quality of their work means I won't need their services anytime soon, part of me wishes I had another reason to collaborate with such an outstanding team. They handled everything on the insurance end (we have USAA), and we had the money in our bank account in a blink for a new roof, siding, gutters and gutter guards. Our rep Matt helped get us the upgraded material we wanted (Hardie) for far less than other companies would have charged, and advised us on the tax benefits of upgrading to a solar skylight. He never pressured us into upgrades, but that solar skylight has given me an extra hour of sleep in the morning AND a tax break, so it was worth every penny. I'd spoken to reps from other companies but roof-er told me their contract was void if they couldn't get the roof 100% covered by the insurance company so I agreed. My insurance company is Allstate, it was very difficult to get them to cover the damage we had to go back and forth quite a bit and provide additional photos as evidence after their adjuster had already come out. I had a very disappointing experience with RoofER company. Two months ago, my property got damaged by a hail storm. The day after the storm, a representative from RoofER knocked on my door and assured me that they would handle all the insurance claims and take care of the damages. Unfortunately, that promise turned out to be empty. Not only did RoofER fail to take any action in the past two months, but they also charged me $600 for covering up the chimney area, which was a shoddy job that didn't even last a week. I had to constantly remind them about the fallen traps on the floor and urge them to send someone to fix it.After a month finally they sent a worker to address the issue. However, instead of properly fixing the problem, the worker simply tarped over the ridge vent, which caused further damage to the front slope of the chimney. To make matters worse, this particular damage is not covered by the insurance company, so I have to pay for it out of my own pocket.Based on my experience, I strongly advise against hiring RoofER. They have shown a lack of professionalism, poor workmanship, and a failure to fulfill their promises. Save yourself the trouble and stay away from this company. read more

I guess, most of us would deal with a roof replacement once or twice in our whole life. This is our first time having ppl to do free estimates for roof replacement. After we read their 5 star-good-reviews online, we met their Roof ER Estimator twice for free estimation, and they agreed to talk to our home insurance claim specialist for a roof replacement project. A few days later, they sent Mike Rafter came with a VAGUE contract (2-3 pages) of only $9,000 and we signed the contract with them. Fully trusted Austin who came to estimate the project, and without any hesitance, we gave them a check for a $3,000 down payment (which was 33% of the contract agreement). Mike promised that they will install Owen Corning (OC) shingles for us with 25 years product guarantee and 5 years of labor. We thought that's it and done. Be watchful with this company!!! They started with the 1st contract. Four hours later, my $3,000.00-check was cashed out (33% of the down payment). They immediately sent in a new contract with supplement to us and our insurance. Now the new contract price tag is $20,743. Their supplement is 130% more than the original contract. Is this how Roof ER does business? Something new for us to learn about. We called the Owen Corning manufacture guarantee specialist. Roof Er is not an OC-certified contractor, so they wouldn't grant the guarantee. If we hire Roof Er to do OC roofing for us, we only got 10 years guarantee, just like any handyman who bought the product from Home Depot and installed it by himself. Our Insurance wouldn't pay this much, so they play around with the price. After multiple phone calls (Ford Barsi_ Ops Manager), they reduced the price to $14,000, but still, they can't give us the full guarantee as they promised in the contract because they are not certified. They can't deliver the service as they promised and blamed us for breaking the contract. They haven't done anything to our roof and charged us a $2,500 cancellation fee. We totally lost trust in this company. We lost $2500 to them. We will report this to FTC for their fraud business practice. We noticed that they even couldn't do business with one of our neighbors also. Now we hired a platinum-certified OC contractor with an extended manufacture guarantee of 50 years and 10 years of labor with a very reasonable price tag. I will update it here for other ppl review before you start the roof project with this contractor. read more
