I'm honestly not sure why this place has 3.5 stars. It's a must for a beautiful evening in Indy! There's always plenty of seating with vibey music and cozy outdoor lights to set the mood for sunset. The entrance can be a little tricky to find, but I always enter on Prospect Street and take the stairs to the rooftop (warning- it's about 5 flights of stairs) since the elevator tends to be packed. They have a great bar selection and drinks are made on the spot. They have several bartenders so the wait time isn't long at all! The bartenders are also very knowledgeable so don't be afraid to ask them for drink recs. When I went over the weekend, the chimney adjacent to the roof top was SWARMING with bats, making it such a cool sight during sunset. read more

We were made to wait in line on the stairs for about 10 minutes. It was a fire hazard -- people couldn't move, get up the stairs, or access the bathroom. Once we reached the top, we paid $10 each to get in. At the same time, people were also coming up via the elevator, which created confusion and led to fighting on the stairs as the two groups collided. After all that, the party was shut down almost immediately after we got inside. We had five people and paid $50 in cash, but we were not refunded. There's just something about a rooftop that I love. This place is great for all vibes. Sometimes it's chill and no cover, other times they have a live dj and charge cover. Either way, it's a great place to be. Another plus is coming here while the sun is setting, the views are amazing. They have 2 bars to order drinks from and sometimes they sell food too. There are tables with chairs and then seats around the border. When it's very busy, people just stand around. Rooftop is great for drinks and the view. Their drink sizes are decent and strong. The music can be hit or miss. I prefer the nights when they have a DJ rather than just playing music through the speakers. What's not to love about a roof top with views of downtown + sunsets? Great reason to visit! What is also amazing is $5 drafts 6pm-8pm. However, it is a place where menus do not have prices for anything -- so it is a bit of a gamble for everything else. You should definitely visit, but be warned: 1. There is no bathroom on the 5th floor where the bar is. Also, if you take the stairs trying to find a bathroom good luck. I ended up doing the five flights of stairs (great exercise tho). 2. The first shock was finding out the there was a cover charge at the door, mostly because it was Tuesday. Sadly, the drink selection was lacking, consisting of beer and a few mixed drink options. I asked for a tequila and sprite, $10. There was a live DJ on the roof top and an area laid out for dancing, not many people utilizing the space. First of all I love this place. When my friends asked where I wanted to go for my birthday I said Revolution then The Rooftop. It was a beautiful evening so really just a perfect place to hang out. I have to take one little aside here. My favorite cocktail is an Old Fashioned. The BEST I ever had and I believe I ever will have was at an event in Bardstown KY sponsored by 1792. The smoked glass the Watkins bitters and 1792 bourbon equals perfection. Of course I ordered an Old Fashioned at The Rooftop. IMAGINE MY SURPRISE WHEN THE BARTENDER GRABBED A BOTTLE OF ST ELMOS OLD FASHIONED PREMIX. I was shocked. I can buy that bottle at Meijer. I am sure I will visit The Rooftop again. I really dig the vibe at this place. The view of downtown (via Virginia Ave) Indy is probably one of the best in the city. It is also cool to see the Eli Lilly building west of the Rooftop Garden. It can get pretty busy with a younger crowd on weekends. If there is a long line out front, just wait an hour or come back on another day. The Coke sign is obviously awesome. Also, please check out the free binoculars to get a better view of downtown. It's really old school, plus you don't have to pay a dime anymore!!!! The manager at the bar (Eric) is a real cool cat. I can't believe i waited so long to try this place. It's been on my list since I heard about a few weeks ago. Since the weather was so nice for November they were able to stay open for an extra weekend. We were looking for an outdoor place to celebrate my friend's recent engagement and this was perfect. We went around 1:30 on a Saturday and there were just a few other customers when we arrived but it was full when we left around 3:30. I was worried at first but glad to see they had so much business. The bartenders and staff were extremely friendly and checked on us multiple times throughout. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was really good. Also huge. The haystack fries were not what I was picturing when I ordered them but I was pleasantly surprised since they were like cute thin steak fries. The drink menu was a selection of specialty mules in addition to the full bar and draft beer. I had the Irish Mule and I thought it was good. The view is fantastic and just the experience of being outside in the sunshine and warm weather in November was perfect. I will definitely be back next season when they open up. read more

This place is OK at best. They are NOT transparent with their hours. Google is wrong and even their own website is wrong. Says they open at 6. I got there at 6:10 and they said they opened at 7:00. But the current management is squandering it with erratic hours and bad drinks. It's never open when they say it is. And on the rare occasions it is "open" it's "too full." Golden hour here is everything!! I love coming here during the summertime since it's so much livelier and fun to be on a rooftop enjoying drinks with friends. They have yummy appetizers like their spinach dip! They also have decent drinks, but they're not my favorite since they're kind of strong in my opinion. The staff is funny and friendly. Awesome place to hang out for a few days as the sun goes down on one of those long summer nights. We stayed here for three hours and it was really pleasant. It definitely got a little crowded but the energy of it was good. We went on a night where there was a DJ, but it really only made the atmosphere better for a few songs. One of the best views in Fountain Square. Between the music and scenery, it was a fun place to be. There was a cover charge ($7) and drinks are on the more expensive side, but worth it if you plan to make a night out of it. I went here to meet a bunch of girls for a 50 th birthday celebration. None of us had ever been here. The birthday girl wanted to see the sunset from the roof. The homemade waffle chips where very tasty but very salty. The pretzel was great not soft and doughy. I feel like I really let my friends down with this one. It was my birthday, and this is the place I picked for dinner. What better place to dine al fresco than atop the Fountain Square Theater Building with the downtown Indianapolis skyline as the backdrop? Unfortunately, the fantastic view, decent food and amazing friends who came to celebrate was somewhat overshadowed by the general unhelpfulness and not so nice attitude by the Manager, which infected the rest of her team. Let's start at the beginning. My friends are amazing people who like to do everything they can to make special occasions special. They tried to make reservations and were told they couldn't, so two of them arrived an hour before everyone else so they could put some flowers on the table and some balloons on the chairs. They were immediately told that they couldn't be seated until everyone was there, so they had to sit around and wait. They brought a cake, which they were told they couldn't serve. They were told that every single member of our party had to be present before they would seat us. So, my amazing friends sat there for an hour staring across the empty tables waiting on the rest of us to show. When everyone finally got there, they took us to our seats and my friends started to decorate. They were told the balloons had to be moved because it might affect the people who were sitting next to us. No one sat at that table the entire time we were there. We ordered drinks, and one person got the wrong beer. The server argued with him about it being poured from the correct tap, and when my friend insisted that it wasn't right, the server admitted that they unscrewed the taps at night and probably hooked them up wrong. When he came back with a new beer, it was the right one. Not sure why he felt the need to argue, but he did. Food was ordered and was quite tasty. Everyone was stuffed, so we picked up the cake from downstairs and went somewhere else. There are a lot of restaurants choices in Indianapolis that offer much better service than here. There are a lot of places in Indianapolis that offer a fantastic view. While the view is amazing here, people will start getting fed up and simply won't come back. It will be a long time before I decide to go back, and I suspect my groups of friends feel the same. read more

My favorite drink was the Ruby Mule. They also have a variety of coffee based cocktails, so this makes for a nice post dinner stop. The entrance is a little tricky to find. Just follow the signs and you'll find your way there. If I remember correctly, you enter the building through the same entrance as duckpin bowling. The service here was great. It was very busy, but we were still seated right away and the waitress recommended some good drinks. The atmosphere is fun and the view is Insta-worthy. I loved the lights and plants around the roof. We tried several of their famous mule. They tasted all very similar and they wasn't very good. Mine tasted like cough syrup. And they were out of most of their beer and cider selections. We also had chips and salsa, and salsa tasted like it wasn't fresh. There was only one lady taking care of the whole rooftop. So the service was fairly slow. Now the view, it's a good view of Indy. There's no shades at all though so I recommend going there as the sun goes down. I wouldn't recommend their mule but i would come back with friends just for some views. read more

I'm not kidding when I say this is my favorite place in Indianapolis to get a drink. The views are IMPECCABLE. It's chill enough that you don't feel like you need to get dolled up for a Chicago rooftop vibe, but still magical enough with fairy lights and views for days. Their bartenders pour pretty strong drinks (I'll never complain about that) and the Mezcal Mule is my favorite - their variety of mules makes me a very happy camper. Additionally, they have a full menu (as do the rest of the bars in the FS Theatre Building) and I would wholly recommend the pretzel sticks and beer cheese. Tip: The line can get long because once you're there you won't want to leave, so get there as early as possible (I believe they open at 5?). Start your night here or stay the whole time, but if you try to come after going a couple other places, there may be a bit of a wait. There's also a cover, but they take card!
