My dad has the cutest phrases. When something breaks at home, which it invariably does as my dad has always loved old houses with "character," he says "happy homeowner!" We had been plagued with city septic back ups from early days of moving into this 60 year old home. Lots of character here! In all the years, all the places (cities and rural) we had never had so many issues with our septic line. We spent several thousand dollars with the company ending in "less" with all their trucks over Sacramento the past few years. Every time we had a backup guys came over with cameras and clean outs (and these were the guys who told us the septic passed inspection even though they found a coke bottle as as a stopper where the home line met the city line?! They coincidentally gave us bids for a new septic line that was out of budget, with tiers of pricing from 8 -16 k. Speaking of the city, they came out and told us there was a blockage potentially on their end that they would fix if confirmed, but we would need to hire someone to dig a deep line to the city pipes. We waited a few months, trying to weigh our options and asked a few people we know who would dig such a big trench, and then the emergency hit. I was about ready to flip out after a large birthday party for my dad at home was almost ruined by our septic issues. We asked my aunt for a recommendation, she gave us Rooney's name. She has a 100 year old house that they worked on and installed a new line that has worked flawlessly. We called the next day and Kevin Rooney and his team of two workers came over and began to look things over. Sure enough he identified an issue with the city line and confirmed that we would need to have a trench dug from our property to the city line. And, the line was in the complete opposite direction than the city workers had told us where it was. Imagine if we had hired someone unqualified to do it. They started digging that day, long and thankless work and attacked it with gusto. By day two or three (sorry, I've blocked most of this out) the trench was dug , at some point Rooney's put in a new line at our portion and the city needed to do their work. We needed to have the gas company and city come out to coordinate. Because the city had "lost track" of our project, and called to come over three weeks later on a Friday morning when we were in San Francisco for the day, there was a delay in the city's work but thankfully it was finally completed. Apparently the city portion had a terra cotta pipe that was infiltrated with roots and the diameter of the city clean out line did not match their current equipment. I'm guessing our septic line hadn't been cleaned out by the city properly for a loooong time. Im guessing we were not the the only homeowners in a row at this property who were shelling out on the regular for short term limited septic clean outs that could never work long term. Mr. Rooney's team came back and filled in all the line, made sure everything was shipshape, and even sowed grass seed over the dirt which filled in beautifully. Has worked perfectly ever since. Despite my disgust at the City of Sacramento septic division, I am so grateful for the stellar work, fair pricing, and timely, professional job completion of this plumbing company. I am not constantly in terror roaming to the backyard trying to see if there is a wad of toilet paper by my rose bush (now we know why it grew so fast haha!) We have come across so many scam artists in the trades in Sacramento since moving here six years ago and unfortunately we are really leery. It's a huge relief for a contractor's word to be solid and stand behind their work, as well as complete the work to excellence. Spot-On-Service For Your Residential Plumbing Needs SITREP I rent an apartment from Nielsen Properties (aka "Nielsen") here in Midtown Sacramento and I guess it was just time for my kitchen sink to *crash* completely: 1. The faucet started leaking, but not just drops, it was a consistent small flow of water that I had to mitigate by using strong rubber-bands to compress the lever as close to the faucet as possible to reduce the flow; 2. And unfortunately, only HOT water was coming out of the faucet - there was no cold water (so I had to kind of inconveniently mitigate this for myself by constantly traveling to the bathroom sink for glasses of water OR to the bathroom tub if needing to fill up a pitcher with cold water; and then on top of all that, 3. This is also when the garbage disposal decided to crap out. THE SETUP So I was having a winner-July-month! I just knew in advance that I would need (want) to be home during any repair work that transpired and unfortunately, I was work-traveling for most of June and July during the week (and so when I was home on the weekends, I had to endure these plumbing-indignities). So these irritations no doubt took longer than necessary since I wouldn't be able to sync up my schedule with a plumber until I would be home more regularly, WHICH as it turned out happened to be this week and the rest of the summer. NIELSEN & ROONEY PLUMBING Thankfully, Nielsen has a relationship with Rooney Plumbing (aka "Rooney") so as soon as I put in a work request to Nielsen, Rooney was already on the ball contacting me to set up an appointment the very next day. And actually the owner's nephew, Dylan, ended up being my plumbing-guy to rescue me from my plumbing predicaments. GREAT WORK Dylan did the visit to see what he was up against. He noted the faucet issues and said he would head out to Home Depot to get the replacement faucet which would take care of the leak. But before he left, he did some "magic hand" stuff with the garbage disposal under the sink, found some debris, noted a disconnected electrical line (because when I flipped the switch, there was not even a sound to the motor coming on), clicked some reset buttons on the disposal unit and got the unit working before he even walked out the door! [That would have been a much more expensive headache if he had had to replace the entire unit, but he didn't have to.] Dylan came back an hour later with a new sink faucet (newer model of the one I had before) and set it up - and no leak! I should also state at this point, Dylan called in a work notice that the was turning off the water to my entire building (8 units) so he could continue the faucet replacement. This was also necessary because when looking at the cause of only the hot water coming through my faucet, he discovered a clogged cold water line that he had to fix (DE-clog) in order to get that working again. After doing the particulars, he turned the water to the building back on, and *whooosh*, my sink was working again with both Hot AND Cold water. THE LOWDOWN I couldn't be happier to have a working kitchen sink again in all of its faucets (and faucets ;) ), and I am grateful to Rooney Plumbing for making this happen. read more

Even in the middle of the night when I was hysterical regarding sewer coming up in my bathtub. They showed up in a half an hour and fixed the problem. It didn't cost me my life savings. The management company for my apartment hired this company to fix a busted P-Trap pipe on my up stairs shower that was leaking water onto the closet ceiling below. The plumber worked on the leak during the morning while I was at work. When I got home that evening I discovered the they had use my $200 cooking pots to catch water and left them dirty in my sink for me to wash. They also filled my recycling bin with the water damaged sheetrock and left it for me to take out. Not to mention after fixing/replacing the pipe it still had a slow leak which they had to come out the next day for, so they didn't even do the job right the first time. I can't believe this company thought all of this was acceptable things to do. A bucket from Home Depot costs $5 and is lighter and holds more water than either of my cooking pots. A year supply of garbage bags cost $15. There's is no excuse for them to come out to a job unprepared outside of laziness. Apparently this is the plumbing company Neilsen Property Management likes to use the most so if you happen to live in one of their apartment complexes you might want to make it clear on your service request that they do not have your permission to use your property to complete the job. Very unprofessional company. Avoid using them if you can and if you can not, don't let them work on your plumbing unsupervised. read more

Easter Saturday, washer, kitchen sink and and dishwasher water outlet overflowing. Lines needed snaking in an awful way. Of course it's very busy the late afternoon before Easter and worried we wouldn't get anyone to arrive. Around 10pm Judd arrived, stayed until nearly 2a until the lines were cleared. Judd was energetic, worked hard, diligently to get the house we rent up and running again. Though cost was paid by LL learned it was relatively inexpensive. Judd clean and sanitized the areas he worked in before leaving, Very nice touch to not leave a mess behind especially after such a long night and the events/cooking we needed to get to Easter Morning. read more

I turned off the water to the house to try to stop the leak and got on the phone to Rooney's Plumbing to come and help as soon as possible. This morning my toilet was gurgling and I called my plumber Tony who happened to be out of town. He had Rooney's Plumbing call me back within 15 minutes and Kevin said he could have a plumber at my house within 35 minutes to have my main line snaked. Judd called to let me know he was on his way and was ready to start working as soon as he arrived on time. Judd listened to me and I liked his attention to detail, so i asked if he had time to shop/buy/install a new low flow Kohler toilet for my master bathroom. Main line snaked, new toilet installed, new angle stop, new flex supply line and hauled old toilet away. Cleaned all the areas he worked inside and outside. Judd advised me if I had any problems to give him a call. Price was the lowest I had been quoted since I started getting estimates back in 2022. Rooney's Plumbing Company deserves the five star rating as the most amazing company I have dealt with for problems with my sewer line. Since it's a family owned business, the owner obviously considers his staff to be part of his extended family. I have dealt with Larry and Ryan for separate problems. Both of them were very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Even the customer service coordinator, Ruthie was very helpful and considerate. Larry came to my home to fix a botched job that was thrust upon me by another company which quoted me $30,000 dollars to fix a relatively minor problem. Fortunately, I was able to stop the job with the 3 day notice that the contract contained. Then, I was referred to Rooney's Plumbing Company by my neighbor and Larry arrived to help complete the project. My most recent experience was managed by Ryan. He arrived first thing in the morning and delivered professional service, along with his friendly and helpful attitude. I recommend this company over any other for the timely service they provide and the quality assurance and completion of the job in record time. On a Sunday afternoon I noticed water coming out from under the wall into our spare bedroom. The other side of the wall was our hall bathroom sink. I called Rooney's Plumbing in a bit of a panic and the lady I spoke to on the phone was very responsive and assured me they would have someone out to me soon. Juan arrived in less than an hour from when I first called. He was very nice and polite and explained what he saw and how he was going to fix it. When it was finished he stayed for an extra 15 minutes with the water running to make sure everything was good and there weren't any other issues. My neighbor referred this company to me. He later said it was a very big mistake. I'm a property manager and I was looking for a new plumber. I have many houses in Sacramento and the greater Sacramento area. I could say this was the worst company I've ever dealt with. The attendant that came to the property was an hour and a half late and did not show up with the equipment necessary to do the job ( even told them what was required). He was not wearing a face mask gloves or in a work vehicle with your work uniform on. None of this I really care about but their workmanship was so substandard that I was embarrassed for them. I will spread the word not to waste your money on this company. Hopefully no one else sells with this like I had to. I certainly will never use them again. read more

Thank you so much to Manny! My mom is a senior citizen(I live with her) and she was very stressed at our facet situation. At first it would not stop dripping. They originally had another person come out(she forgot his name) and he fixed that portion. But a day or so after the sink was not running right. Just drip drip drip. Now we could see there was something blocking the water flow. The city just did construction on the plumbing. We are uncertain if that is where the debris came from. But Manny took everything a part and made sire everything was put back perfectly. No extra charge for that. Which I was really worried about. Because my mom barely scraps by as it is. I was very worried they'd gauge her and double charge her. And I wanted to leave a good review. So if people were on the fence if they should use you... do it! Fairly happy with them, how would I know, they seemed to know what they were talking about. Two issues: my yard was left with a mound of dirt that I had to level, places where I stood my foot went down a foot because the dirt wasn't filled in fully around the pipe. All the grass plugs they carefully set to the side and told me to water to keep alive were not replaced but buried in the dirt they refilled the hole in with. I take responsibility for my ignorance as to cost but then during a conversation they let it slip out that they 'up-sold' the job and shared the money with a plumber who passed my name on to them - to me it sounds like the dollars weren't based on the actual cost to do the job but on a number pulled out of a hat and given to a dumb lady. read more

This is the worst plumbing company I have ever encountered - and I spent over 30 years in residential construction and knew of many reliable, truthful plumbing companies. We have only one bathroom and one toilet - none of fixtures would drain. They were informed of this. They were called first at 11 am this morning - promised plumber by 3 PM today - the plumber called at 3:30, said he'd gotten stuck in traffic, but was on his way, wasn't too far away. Later, we received a call from the office--that plumber had been called away on an "emergency", but they were sending another plumber. We said fine. A little after 5pm, the office called and said that the second plumber was stuck in traffic, so they were sending out a THIRD plumber, who'd be here by 6pm. Six pm came and no plumber, so we called the office, who promised the plumber would be here by 6:25. We informed them that if they couldn't be here by 6:30 that we were cancelling and would call a reliable plumber Then we were promised a plumber by 6:30 pm - NO PLUMBER. So we left. We have to believe that this company only hires pathological liars or they have a great deal of trouble with the truth. No one likes to be lied to and this company managed to lie to us 4 times. We are very pleased with the work and pricing completed by Rooney's. Our house, where my father in law lives, has been having plumbing issues for years. It's an older house with orangeburg pipes so we knew it was getting close to replacement. Financially we did not have the funds to pay for a replacement. The plumbing collapsed and we had no choice but to get the pipes replaced. We had multiple quotes and they were all between $10-$12,000. We definitely could not afford that amount and did not know what to do. Rooney's came out and quoted us an affordable (much lower) quote. They were aware of our financial situation and offered us in house financing. They completed the job as quickly as possible and professionally.
