    Bakso mee with grilled rib
    Vy T.

Very good bakso mee. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out. People asked me why it was more expensive than other noodle soups. I would say you got good food, homemade not manufactured. The taste was close enough to the ones we got in Indonesia. Tip: try the sweet soy sauce on top of the rib. Yummm

Wow, this was pretty amazing for a food truck! Serving up unfamiliar (for the San Francisco culinary scene) street food that's delicious. Pretty big menu, since there's lots of permutations. Though you might want to avoid the combo since they shrink the main item compared to the portion you'd get if you ordered it standalone. Bakso Iga Bakar: That massive beef rib was so much fun to eat. I let it rest vertically in the soup and periodically grab it with my hand and gnaw off a little. So tender and flavorful. A nice texture contrast to the firm and squishy meatballs, kinda like what you get in pho. Then it was nice that there were two types of noodles, some thin and some medium thickness. Plus the bone broth had so much flavor! All that umami and a little sour edge. Signature Bakso: After such a good experience with the Bakso Iga Bakar, this was a bit of letdown. It was basically meatball overload and no rib. Granted there was some meatball diversity where one had a quail egg inside and then there was some random tofu-meatball hybrid. But it felt a bit repetitive with so many meatballs. The noodles and soup were still amazing. But lesson learned, don't skip the rib. Bakso Bakar: More meatballs, this time grilled on stick and slathered in a sweet sauce. This was actually a nice snack / appetizer.

y'know how you stand in line to get something while cold and hungry and hope it's as good as it smells? Is. tried the vegetarian noodle soup at the lunar new year event at OMCA. was so hungry i couldn't even pay attention to the menu but there were 2 vegetarian choices so yes please hot noodle soup. eggroll was crunchy and not greasy, and tempeh fries were good. soup was soothing salty-good, and the stuffed tofu was filling. Now i want to try the impossible baksu next! also snagged a 6-pack of tiny pineapple tarts for later with tea. mmm

I love Indonesian food so I was super excited when I saw D' Grobak on the lineup for the Presidio food truck pop up! The staff were all super friendly and kind but unfortunately the food fell short. I ordered their Bakso Iga Bakar ($21) and was a bit disappointed with what I received. The beef rib was juicy, tender, and delicious but the noodle dish itself fell short. They use two different types of noodles in this dish, egg noodle & vermicelli. Maybe it was the day I went but the noodles were extremely overcooked. It was limp and to the point of falling apart when I picked it up. The broth was overly salty and had no depth of flavor other than salt & lime. The meatballs felt like they were sitting in that broth for way too long, it was spongy and had no bite to it whatsoever. For $21, I expected a bigger wow factor. It seemed like the star of the dish was the rib and everything else was more of an after thought. I'd be open to trying their other bbq offerings on the menu though!

Never had Indonesian food before and there's not one that I know of in the Bay Area and all I have to say that it is so DELICIOUS!!!! They're in a food truck and their Bakso IGA Bakar with Angus rib with the 2 styles of noodles and meatballs are the BOMB!!! Love it!! The owners Yohanes & Christna are amazing people that love what they do. To find out where they're going to be, Just follow their instagram (dgrobak.bayarea)

Stumbled upon D'Grobak at the Presidio Tunnel Tops and really enjoyed our picks. We went with the D'Grobak Signature Bakso and the Bakso Bakar Broth. Starting with the broth - it's a bone marrow base which already sets it up for success. The broth is rich and velvety, very enjoyable. The squeeze of lime adds a perfect tanginess to cut through the richness. Between the two, I preferred the signature. I liked the variety of toppings and it felt more like a treasure chest as I explored the bowl. My favorite topping was actually the stuffed tofu! This is not to say the grilled beef balls were bad though! They were actually super tender and very flavorful but a bit too sweet for me. The tapioca cracker is stuck in for looks but I would have also preferred it on the side to prevent sogginess. If you are looking for spice that hot sauce they provide is no joke and should give you the heat you are looking for! The owner was working the truck today and was very friendly. I'm appreciative of his small business and recognize that it's probably been really hard to start up in the middle of COVID but he's doing a bang up job with these soups! Two soups with tip came to about $32. If you do not know where you are sitting yet, I suggest you plan this before ordering at Tunnel Tops! It's not great to walk around with thin bowls of hot soup....!

Hubs and I were out riding our bikes, and D' Grobak was recommended as a must try so we stopped by. Not sure of the names of the items we ordered, but it was tasty. Our items were nicely presented. Hubs enjoyed the noodles. The short ribs were tender and flavorful. Maybe kinda pricey for what you get, but glad we gave it a try.

I viited their food truck on two separate occasions at the Prescott Night Market in West Oakland. The first time, they were rather busy and after waiting a while in line, I wanted to order the impossible bakso, but it turned out they had run out. I then tried to ask for the sampler bites or the tempeh fries, but they said they were out of wontons and could not accommodate. Ultimately I ended up getting the signature bakso which contains quail egg, fried tofu, and four pieces of meatballs. They were done in 5 minutes as they had predicted and I appreciated that they give you one of those beepers so you can wander around and don't have to wait at the truck. The broth is rich, savory, salty with lime to add an acidic tang. I also liked the fried tofu sheet which had a fun crunchy texture. The bakso was rather expensive (around $19 when you include tax and tip) but it was yummy. I would've liked to have tried their impossible/plant-based version to see how the broth compared. The second time, I decided to get the organic tempeh fries. (They have another menu item with tempeh fries, but the other one contains meat) It came with dry thin pieces of cabbage and a spicy chili-containing sauce. I did not like the cabbage and didn't feel that it added to the dish. I'm not good with spicy food generally so the sauce was tolerable but not enjoyable for me. They managed to make the tempeh taste like potatoes but I wish the fries had been more savory and seasoned overall, it needed more interesting flavors. However, there were some really crispy small fried pieces in the dish and I found those more satisfying to eat, both because of the crunchiness and because they were saltier. Overall: Signature - 5/5 Tempeh fries - 3/5

    My meal delivered by Neon.

These three plus years gave me a cooking skill that I never appreciated. Reheating food. They recently joined the roster of Neon vendors in selling a take-and-reheat meal. As my friend ordered some food on the same day that they offered their food, I ordered the Baksa Iga Bakar as packed (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=YlZ7yHasPUVrByrxIhRXNg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); the description reads sweet and spicy grilled beef rib served with 5 pcs of signature homemade Bakso, bone marrow beef broth, vegetables, and mixed (egg & rice) noodles. It came with homemade Sambal, lime wedge, sweet soya sauce, green onion, and fried shallot. It includes large fried crackers or perhaps wonton skin, not mentioned in the Neon description. Here is the after picture (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=s3uH9n05ehoPI695yyiX4g&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) that made for a delicious meal. Obviously, there is no shortage of ingredients with varying flavors, textures, and hopefully nutritional value. Following their QR code provided reheating instructions, I created a midweek bowl of goodness for dinner. Everything came flavored well and they are meticulous in giving reheating instructions. My biggest dilemma was deciding between dipping the mini dinosaur bone (short rib) with the soya or sambal sauce. Solution: double dipping. My favorite aspect was that it had two noodle types with different degrees of chewiness, size, and mouth feel. The broth is very clean so don't expect the umami to come from there. Besides the short rib, there were four homemade meatballs also perfect for dipping. I will order this again but am undecided on the timing. Solid choice for the change in season especially as winter approaches.

They're always at the presidio lawn when I go so I always get only the rib and it's always spectacular. Bonus points it's the only cooked bone I feel comfortable giving to my giant dog she hasn't been able to pierce it lol

Was walking in Presidio, tunnels and stumbled across this food truck. Everyone was ordering it so we had to try the special noodle. Right off the bat it looks very appetizing with the meat and vegetables. The food came out very fast, so we were so excited to try it. It was very interesting because it came with two different types of noodles: skinny egg noodle, and vermicelli noodle. the flavor was not what I was expecting. It was very limey which I enjoyed. The only thing was the tendon part of the bone meat. It was a bit chewy and hard to bite off. Over decent meal for a grab and go / walking around to try different places.

Stood in line for 1.5 hr waiting to order a bowl of noodles and meatballs when they had their food truck at the Oakland Art Museum for Lunar New Year. It was ok, not worth the ridiculously long waits, especially when they kept running out of things.

My mom is Chinese Indo and previously I didn't like Indo food UNTILLLL I tried grobak. Caught them at a pop up in Berkeley and they were super friendly. Didn't have much selection beyond soups but wow was it flavorful. I felt the prices were pretty reasonable given the portions. I got a HUGE rib shank with my soup that was slow roasted and glazed to profection plus the added meatballs in. Ive never had Indo food be so flavorful. Im craving this just typing it! Will have to check them out in SF!

Super awesome. The kitchen is wide open. Everything was super clean and well put together. Service - 5/5 Great recommendations from the staff. The house slaw and banana pudding were clearly popular choices, and they definitely knew what they were doing when guiding the order. I told them it's my first time. These were what they recommended me. One of the staff actually gave a piece of brisket to try. Very nice of them to give a free sample before I order so I know what I'm expecting. Food - 4.5/5 Dish Ordered: Dino Rib, Brisket ( 1/2 lb), House Slaw, Banana Pudding 5/5 Dino Rib Wow. This was the highlight. The meat was unbelievably tender--every single part of it. Usually with ribs, especially the upper portions, you get some toughness or dryness depending on how it's smoked. Not here. This one was melt-in-your-mouth soft, juicy throughout, and you could practically pull it apart effortlessly. The seasoning was perfect--balanced, not too salty, not bland, just right. Every bite hit. 4/5 Brisket ( 1/2 lb) About two slices. Visually, it looked great--nice color, juicy, with a solid fatty portion. But after eating the Dino rib, it felt a bit underwhelming. Still good, just didn't hit as hard flavor-wise. Might be better appreciated on its own next time. 5/5 House Slaw This paired extremely well with the meat. Sweet, tangy, and refreshing. The hint of peanuts adds a nice nutty layer that makes it stand out. It cuts through the richness of the meat perfectly. 5/5 Banana Pudding Not your typical pudding--it's more like a banana cake. The sweetness not too overwhelming, smells amazing, and just hits the spot. A great way to finish the meal. Additional Comments The Dino rib alone makes this place worth it. It sets a very high bar, which honestly makes everything else feel secondary. The best Rib I have ever had in my life so far. Important thing to note is that the rib will be weighed. I don't think you can ask to get the portion you want like you can with the brisket. My Dino rib came out to be 1.6lb. The sides and dessert complement the meal really well and round out the experience. Price is bit is definitely in the higher end but the experience is definitely worth it.

Now I saw this place on social media as one of the best barbecue in the Bay Area. Well in my visit, let me just say I was disappointed. The food was OK and overpriced. The brisket was a bit dry so was the ribs. The sausage tasted like sawdust and potato salad was flavorless. Service was good lady that helped me was nice and suggested what to get. The place inside is pretty small, but there's plenty of sitting outside and you could sit inside the brewery next-door, which is what we choose. Now if I was in the area again, I would not come back.

When my husband and I came back after 30 min, the server told us she FORGOT one of the four items we ordered so she didn't make it yet. Very unprofessional. Let's talk about the food. I'm indonesian who grew up here in the US and even I know this is not good Indonesian food. The beef dish that they call rendang is NOT rendang. It doesn't even have the taste of rendang. We also ordered ayam sambal sereh which came with two sad overcooked chicken breasts. The topping had lemongrass in it, which made it somewhat interesting but it was not pleasant to eat the overcooked chicken. What's ironic is that this was the order that they forgot and had to make last minute. I would not recommend this place to anyone interested in trying Indonesian food. This is not Indonesian food.
