We were actually heading to a different restaurant and remembered this place was associated with Blue Latitude in Dover. So we decided to give it a try. Located in a housing development, there is parking nearby and easy access to the restaurant. It is nice inside a bit too commercial looking but the staff is very nice and attentive. We were near the end of the night but did not feel rushed and the food came out quickly. It was a fine meal and the menu was different from Blue Latitudes. It's a bit out of the way for us, but not a bad experience and worth a visit. I bet when it's snowing then whole area is magical. We will come again. read more

Why aren't more people talking about Roost? Let's go! I've been a few times with book club. The food and service have been great every time. My wife had the veggie burger, which she absolutely loved. I had the baked lemon haddock with rice. Parking is always easy at Point Place. In my opinion, Roost is underrated and I would consider it a hidden gem in Dover. One suggestion I would make to Roost is it was a bit dark in the restaurant, but I'm getting old so it may just be me. read more

Our first visit to Roost yesterday (05/10/2025) will also surely be the last one. My wife booked a table for 6:45pm, we were greeted by the host who promptly took us to our table, gave us glasses of water and the menus. Great start but everything went downhill from there. For 30 minutes after being seated, we didn't see anyone. Nobody came to ask if we wanted to order drinks or anything else, nothing. The place was not even busy but still, no staff came to talk to us or the table next to us, it's like we were all completely ignored. At some point (30 min +), the wife ran out of patience and went to the host to ask if we could move to the bar to at least get drinks and we did. We were surprised to see that the bar area was also not busy and that there was no one behind the bar. After sitting there for like 5 minutes, someone came to the bar and asked if we wanted drinks. We finally got our first drinks around 7:20pm and ordered our food at the same time: Crispy brie and Arancini for starters, Roost Burger and Salmon sandwich for mains. We waited another 40 minutes before our starters came. Arancini were delicious, perfectly made and really tasty. Sadly the brie wasn't cooked enough, it was a bit cold, the center was still hard and not melted enough. The side crostini were really salty. Our mains came pretty quickly, something like 15-20 minutes after we got the starters but these were another disappointment. The Roost burger was nothing special, the bun was really dry (see pictures) and was served with undercooked frozen French fries. Not impressed. Same comment for the salmon sandwich, salmon was good but the bun was your standard supermarket type of bun and was dry. Altogether, pretty poor experience, really! I was expecting more after looking at their menu. It screams fine dining but really wasn't. The food was not worth the wait (an hour and fifteen minutes before getting starters), staff wasn't very friendly and the service was sluggish but the place wasn't even busy. Don't know if they are short staffed but still, the fact that no one came to say "sorry but the wait is gonna be a bit longer than usual" and they avoided contact (seated for 30 minutes without anyone to come, no one behind the bar most of the evening, 3 interactions top for the entire time we were there and simply a global "can't be bothered attitude") speaks volume, especially when we had a reservation. It feels like the staff tried to avoid contact. Not considering coming back for a second try. PS: the beers list is outdated and has wrong information (i.e. Stella beers are from Belgium, not Holland...) read more

I went with a friend last Friday night as I was referred to this restaurant by someone. We had reservations and were seated right away. The drinks were nice and we took our time ordering. The artichoke pita chip appetizers were the best part of the whole dinner. We waited far too long for our pear salads and the restaurant wasn't that busy at all. It seemed that there was a problem with the slips not printing out and we weren't the only ones waiting. Though the ambiance was comfortable, it was too long to wait for a small Meal. Hello! Went to Roost on July 8th while on a long vacation to NH. Dont worry my Covid test came back negative, even though I'm from Florida and tested before venturing out. Anyhow the Meatloaf was fantastic ( I was told) with the asparagus cooked perfectly. The servers were awesome. Sat at a high top in the bar area as it was windy and hot outside. The craft beers are excellent and I had the Pear and Steak salad. Steak cooked PERFECTLY. I will definitely come back next year- Post Covid. Keep up the good work Roost! read more

Our food delivered cold and we had to chase down our waitress to let her know it was unexceptionable. Out of 6 meals 4 of them were cold. My wife and I had a 4:15 PM reservation on Monday. We arrived on time, and the maître d' silently brought us to our table, right off from the main entrance. From what we could see, there were no other customers in the restaurant at the time. After seating us the maître d' went back to her station, about 10 feet away. Directly behind where we were seated, also about 10 feet away, were three staff people - two women and a man. They were engaged in a discussion about the restaurant's personnel, staffing and schedules. They were somewhat animated, and at times in their discussion, cursing. Next to our table was an opening into the bar area where we did see one other staff person - a woman who was filling the utensils at a station. She also looked in our direction, noticed we were there, then walked away. As an open concept restaurant, our presence was obvious and conspicuous. We sat at our table for over 15 minutes and nobody came by to say hello, offer us water or anything to drink, or acknowledge us in any way. As the time went on it became increasingly uncomfortable. For them to stand there having their open discussion, and not even think about coming over to acknowledge us was rude and unprofessional. It was incredibly uneasy for us, and I suggested to my wife maybe it was time to go - she agreed. At which point we got up to leave. I looked over at the three people who were just standing there still talking, and one girl started to say something to us, but I just said, "have a nice evening" (because there was no call for us to be impolite). As someone who has worked at a culinary/hospitality university this type of behavior was unacceptable. One of the main objectives of a restaurant is to make the customers feel welcome. We felt extremely unwelcome and awkward. It has been a few days and I am still stunned that five people would allow us to sit there that long without even coming over just to say hello! And my wife and I are in incredibly understanding people. If the restaurant had been jamming, or it seemed like they were understaffed, or if someone had just come over and said "hey there's an issue, but we'll be right with you", we would have been fine. But to let us sit there in an empty restaurant while you complain about the establishment was insensitive and ignorant. Roost seems to present itself in décor and on its social media as classy, fine-dining establishment, but it has a long way to go. We left and went to The Farm Bar and Grille, where we enjoyed a fantastic meal, with great service provided by a very sweet young lady - who we generously tipped. read more

Went here for a date with my wife. It's a nice place in a new development. We decided to eat on the patio. I saw some reviews comparing Roost to Chili's and I was a little concerned. We decided to go anyway and I'm glad we did. When we got there it was a nice experience. The place was really clean. Service was quick and attentive. We had drinks and then our meals in record time. I had the bacon infused meat loaf and the portion was more than generous. It was great, I really enjoyed it. My wife got haddock and she enjoyed her meal as well. The only odd thing we agreed on was the color of the mashed potatoes; they weren't the typical white. It didn't bother us, and they tasted fine. When we got there we were two of maybe five people dining; as we left there were more people. Overall I liked it; it was nice and quiet, great place to relax. Live upstairs and was so excited to have a restaurant downstairs. We tried it multiple times, but haven't had a decent meal once. Sunday breakfast is good, but since they don't open until 10am they're missing out on many patrons. They've been open for over a year and have barely changed their menu. Usually with a small menu, you update it seasonally based on ingredients but not them. They can't keep staff and judging by staff knowledge/skills they appear to have never worked in the food industry. I agree with the other reviews that even Chili's, which is terrible, may be better considering 2 drinks and 2 entrees is $100 at Roost. When you have over 200+ residents living next door or upstairs and the restaurant is always dead it's a sign. They need to figure it out, and if they did more people would go! read more

A disappointing dinner at Roost. The Pork Schnitzel was luke warm, and the wine sauce on top was just terrible....much too salty, and a bad combination of ingredients. The Shrimp "tempura" appetizer was nothing more than heavily battered fried shrimp, not coming close to a tempura batter. The baked haddock, while a very small portion, was sitting a top mashed potatoes and 3 or 4 tiny asparagus spears. While not one to complain about prices at restaurants, I found this to be very expensive for the quality of the food. Our waiter and service, however, was great. read more

We went in sat at the bar. Wine list is nonexistent. And by that I mean they only had one brand of wine for Chardonnay Pinot Grigio. I didn't check out the red list. The brand they had was horrible. I ordered a cocktail which was very good. My husband had a beer, so that was easy. The service was good, but the food was much to be desired. I ordered a special which was seafood bisque when it came out, there was a few pieces of seafood with a sauce drizzled over it. It was certainly not a bisque by any means. I ate it and it was OK but I would never ever order it again. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich which he said was very good. there was hardly anybody in the restaurant and it was prime time six 630. We would never go back there again. I think they need to update their wine list update some of the menu items and check some of the plates before they leave the kitchen and go to a customer. My husband and I visited Roost tonight and had the worst experience we've ever had at a restaurant. We were seated and immediately ordered cocktails, tuna sashimi apps and Caesar salads. Our cocktails came and were great, but at our second cocktail order we asked our server when our apps would be out. She told us they were on the way. Guests that came in after us had already received their meals, so we asked to speak to a manager. The manager informed us that the kitchen manager had not come in so they were in a bind. She also said that lunch orders were taking a full hour. She then returned with Caesar salads and explained that the apps were not yet ready. We noticed that the Caesar salad did not have the chicken or salmon that we had ordered. At that point we had enough and left the restaurant. 100% disappointed and we will not be back. We went to a restaurant across the street (45 SoDo) and had a great meal. Shame on this restaurant to providing such terrible service. read more

Disappointed. Have had dinner here previously with my husband and really liked It so wanted to take my friend there and dine outside on a beautiful summer evening. We made a reservation specifically for outside as it was a beautiful day and we were so looking forward to it after a long week of extreme summer heat. We arrived at 6:10 for a 6:15 reservation, only to be told their patio was full, they had recently seated a couple of parties out there and we couldn't be seated outside. We asked if anyone was close to leaving as we were willing to wait a bit - and were told no. Isn't the purpose of a reservation to "reserve"? After talking the place up to my friend, it was a big letdown so we left and went to Ember and had a nice dinner outside on their patio. We went Saturday night to find a sign outside letting patrons know that they were understaffed and therefore closing at eight. We chatted with the hostess and said would it be OK if we came in knowing that they were understaffed, she said yes if you don't mind sitting at the bar. We sat at the bar with only one other couple in there for 10 minutes and did not even get an acknowledgment. In fact someone behind the bar was counting cash or making change and so close to me I could have touched her... Again not even a " hello there... Will be with you as soon as we can! My first time here, I came here because I was hungry and very cold after going to Sandy Hill Farm. This was one of the closest places on my way home. I ordered the beet salad, the beets were a little undercooked and red wine vinaigrette tasted like straight vinegar. I also ordered the "tenderloin" tips...the entire dish came out barely lukewarm. There wasn't a single thing on the plate that was hot whatsoever. Some parts was even slightly cold. And the tips were nothing like tenderloin. Not super easy to cut through, very chewy. It was also a little bland. I had to add salt and pepper which I NEVER do. I work in a steakhouse with both of these dishes on the menu and I know what they are supposed to taste like.. this is not it. I rarely leave reviews but I was very disappointed.
