I came to this place because it was everywhere to try so we did that. Let me tell you, I tried this food back in April and I still think about it. The food was so good and delicious. First they give you a congee which was quite good. Then we ordered the food which was quite delicious. We ordered the spring roll, calamari, chicken wings, lo mein with beef. Everything was quite delicious, the calamari was cooked perfectly and the wings were perfect the sauce was sticky and on the wings, a great meal. The food was really good. The drinks were also good. The service was great. The place is pretty inside has a lot of decorations which go with the cuisines and has a nice wooden furniture. My colleagues and I were in town for a conference and staying about a mile and a half from here. I ran it and raved about the beef and crispy noodles and the calamari. On our journey to Palm Springs my team left the food choices to me since I'm picky. Lol. We showed up on a Wednesday night (note that they do not open Monday and Tuesday), around 4:40 PM. There was already a long line of individuals waiting to get in. There were about 15 people ahead of us. At opening, we were immediately sat down into the second dining room to the right of the restaurant. It gives a different vibe than the main room with its red bench seating and lantern ceiling. Although the benches were high, and the tables were a little low, we managed. Of course, we tried the complementary congee. Which I love, but my colleagues were not a big fan of. We ordered the calamari and the crispy beef noodle. We also ordered the shrimp and mango spring roll, the softshell crab and green papaya salad, and the pork belly lettuce wraps. The shining stars, for my colleagues were the calamari and crispy beef noodle. Followed by the shrimp and mango spring rolls and the softshell crab. The three of us did not enjoy the pork belly at all even though it came recommended. We actually only ate 2 pieces. The food overall was good although we wish we didn't get the pork or at least stuck to our goal of four main dishes. The waitress recommended we get one more and that's when we added the pork. Next time we will go with our gut instinct. One thing that was disappointing on this visit was that when we ordered drinks, one of them came out in a can. We were under the assumption it was a draft pour. For $14 it should have been noted that it is canned. The way that it is written into the menu no one would assume otherwise. read more

I love this place. The ambiance is relaxing! I love that it can be a casual place to eat or a great date night option as well. The food is delicious and my go-to is usually the crispy beef with egg noodles and it is AMAZING. They're generous with the beef slices and it comes out as a very decent sized bowl that is more than enough for two people. Especially if you're looking to try multiple dishes. And also were forced to split the bill because we were separated, instead of paying one big bill for our group of 7. The food could be better. Too many taste but not flavorful enough. I feel like for their fresh spring rolls, peanut sauce should be their main sauce and not fish sauce. I really did like the shaking beef and the spicy okra. I went to pick up my friend in Palm Springs and we picked a random Asian place to eat and it was absolutely amazing. My friend asked if they had any soups, and they brought out an amazing porridge for us all to try for free, which set things off right to begin with. We ordered some wings as appetizers that were full of flavor. I think we got 8 wings too, which was a very generous portion. Then the caramelized chicken and the beef with noodles came out. The chicken had such a delightful flavor, and if anyone knows how hard it is to make chicken taste really good, you could tell that this dish took a lot of preparation to get down right. A+. The noodles were a little too sweet for my taste, but my friend loved them. My favorite dish was the star of the show. It was the salt and pepper prawns. I used to get salt and pepper prawns from PF Changs all the time when I used to work at the Beverly center in my teens and absolutely loved them. How this place does it just blows PF Changs away though. So much flavor and really the highlight of the whole meal. I wish I could get them everyday, but I don't live in Palm Springs and the drive is quite far, but definitely will be craving them for a long time. The service is very quick and they constantly bring water to your table. But because it's coated in rice floor, it has a great mouth feel to it. They do this one perfectly. 2) shaking beef. This comes with a side of rice and a side of arugula salad. The beef tenderloin is perfectly cooked and smuthered in flavor! 3) lemongrass pork noodle bowl. This is bun (vermacelli) served cold with perfectly grilled sliced pork. Nice balance to flavor 4) black mussels. Served with lemongrass coconut milk broth. This was perfectly cooked (every mussel was open, nothing over cooked) Pass on their crispy roll. I had a very disappointing experience at Roost and Pig. From the moment we sat down, the service was incredibly slow and inattentive, which was surprising given that the restaurant was not busy. There were several staff members gathered near the front chatting while we waited far too long just to be acknowledged. It took forever for someone to take our order, and when the food finally arrived, one of my friend's entrées was completely forgotten. When we brought it up, the waitress responded rudely rather than apologetically. I also asked if someone could assist in Spanish, and although I was told sure, no one came back for about 20 minutes only to say they did not have anyone available. The lack of communication and follow through was frustrating and unnecessary. The rest of the experience did not improve. It took an excessive amount of time to receive our food and even longer to get the check, and no one checked on us during the entire hour and a half we were there. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for the poor service. The beef dish was overcooked, the rest of the food was average at best, and even the eggrolls were disappointing. Given the reputation this place seems to have, I was genuinely surprised. None of us plan to return, and I would not recommend it to others, not just because of the food, but because the overall service experience was unacceptable. read more

Food (4.5/5) Palm Springs certainly lacks diversity with Asian cuisine so this restaurant is a nice addition to fill in that missing piece for the food scene here. While not a traditional Vietnamese restaurant, this place is a nice introduction to Vietnamese food in a Westernized way for Palm Springs and tourists who have not been exposed to Vietnamese cuisine. The food is on the pricier side especially for Vietnamese cuisine, but they use high quality ingredients and are innovative with some of their dishes. My usual orders here are the Vietnamese crispy rolls, tea leaf salad, shaking beef, and the pork belly fried rice. The pork belly fried rice is a mandatory order because they use Chinese sausage and the fried rice has a perfect texture. The shaking beef also is cooked perfectly and the meat has always been tender when I've ordered it. While some of the menu items are more of a fusion with other Asian cuisines (like the tea leaf salad) it's still a great introduction to South East Asian cuisine. Service (5/5) The waiters have always been friendly and helpful to me when trying to decide what to order on the menu. I tend to come here right at its opening time in order to avoid a wait as this place fills up fairly quickly. NO reservations are allowed, walk ins only. During the busier seasons, I'd highly suggest to arrive early as this place is always busy. Ambiance (4.75/5) This restaurant is on the smaller side but limited bar seating and outdoor dining is available if there are the indoor tables are filled. Originally they told us it would be up to 1.5 hour wait but luckily a big group didn't show up so we were seated in less than 20 minutes. I've had shaking beef a bunch at other places, I thought the sauce was too sweet (same prob with the beef noodles) and the meat wasn't very tender. Got here at 4:45pm on a Thursday and we're 5th in line. It seems like people who arrived a little after 5pm were still able to get a seat. They have 2 seating areas and I couldn't discern who got seated where and why? We got seated in what seemed like a more dim and intimate area. They had couches which were comfy. The other area seemed brighter and more upbeat...but I loved where we sat, as it was nice and cozy! Service was very friendly! I loved that they asked about allergies and made sure my son was safe. We were pleasantly surprised by the complementary congee! It was a small bowl packed with a lot of flavor...what a great way to start a meal! We got the fried rolls and cold noodles to start. The rolls were good...they were maybe slightly overdone, just a touch hard and dry, but the sweet sauce made them better.
