It felt like a full-circle moment to end up at Norma's in the Parker Palm Springs, brunching under the patio's colorful canopies, this past trip. Norma's does everything they can to combat the desert heat -- misters spray overhead, & complimentary mini smoothies start the meal. Ours contained strawberries & coconut, which was as refreshing as it sounds. And just like before, I ordered a waffle, the Waz-Za? topped with brûléed bananas & blueberries, to share with the table. Surprisingly not overwhelmingly sweet. For my main, I went very basic, very plain, with Organic Farm Fresh Eggs; I chose rye toast, potatoes, & crispy bacon as accompaniments, & everything was delicious. So I've stayed at The Parker, but this was the first time eating at Norma's. What a treat! The staff was so very nice and they created a great vibe. We ate outside, which was nice, but the people really made it. Outside felt good, with foliage around, but not cluttered. I loved how all the trees were not lite up, giving a nice and natural feel. The food was very good. I'd admit that the prices felt a bit over the top. I enjoyed the fajitas, which were great. One more tortilla would have been helpful, but no worry, I don't need the carbs. On the other hand, my salads was excellent. The cocktails were excellent! Each drink that was had at our table was made perfectly, which was impressive. Located inside of the Parker Palm Springs, we have eaten here many times while staying at the hotel. Service is wonderful, the shot of the day as a complementary appetizer is a great start to your day! A healthy smoothie and delightful. Breakfast are the best way to begin your day. I have tried my way through their entire menu by now and worthy mentions are the donuts as well as any of their salads, you really can't go wrong with anything here. I love that they have a variety of breakfast and lunch items, many vegetarian items, hearty portions, beautifully presented! Have now been to Norma's at the Parker about five or six times. Recently, my visit was so lackluster that I felt compelled to update my review. We had Sunday brunch reservations. It took about ten minutes for our server to appear. Unusual for this restaurant. We had no water until he sent someone over. Our server never told us his name, also unusual for Norma's. It took a long time for our meal to arrive. Yes, we are in high season and the restaurant was busy, but not packed. Norma's usually handles crowds well. We were a party of six and half of us were not happy with our food. The corned beef hash was about a quarter cup of under cooked potatoes and pearl onions. Under the eggs was a pile of shredded corned beef. Just a pile of meat. Not even crispy, just a pile of shredded beef. The chicken and mushroom omelette was bland, and the potato pancake not cooked evenly. One of our party told the server about his breakfast and we were comped some doughnuts, which was lovely. AMAZING spot for brunch! I initially was hesitant to come here because I'd heard the brunch was just okay, but this was my favorite spot we visited the entire time we were in Palm Springs. I ordered the short rib Benedict and was so impressed by the variety of flavors. Perfectly savory. The eggs were cooked just right and there was tons of short rib on the Benedict. My husband also loved his corned beef hash. My only complaint is that we didn't try any of their sweet dishes like the French toast, which looked amazing. Will definitely order next time. This place does have a lot of items labeled gluten free but they had a lot of options to modify gluten free! I had the corned beef hash and they gave me gluten free toast in a separate toaster! Good cross contact knowledge. The ambiance is very cute, funky 70s vibe. The food was good and of course it's pricey just due to location. Really my only complaint. I have two complaints: Parking- it is a hotel but the staff does not communicate. I driver around trying to figure out if i was in the right place and had to wave down several people to try to understand where and how to park. We had lunch/brunch here twice in a three-day span in the middle of the week. There are plenty of creative choices on the menu. The dishes we tried over those two meals were: Huevos Rancheros, Eggs and Bacon Breakfast Quesadilla, Pancakes, Eggs and Hash Browns, and Claws & Chips (their version of fish n chips - except using lobster). This place is not worth the hype. The hotel is designed cool, but for a place that has the nerve to charge for reservations the service and food were a huge let down. Took forever to get someone to help us, we both ordered the burger and what came was something you could barely describe as a slider. Tasted fine, but was literally two bites. Told the server this and they said yeah the burgers are really small. So they've basically gotten this feedback repeatedly and not felt compelled to fix it. We were bummed we couldn't explore the hotel and paid for parking so decided to eat at Norma's. We had fantastic service and the hotel itself was cute, the food was very disappointing. My friend and I both ordered salads and they had almost no flavor. There didn't seem to be a point to sending the food back because it's pot a valid complaint and didn't want to give our server a hard time, as he was fantastic. read more

Located in the Parker Palm Springs hotel, Norma's is a Palm Springs establishment everyone should visit. If the weather permits, definitely sit outside in their colorful, covered patio. The staff are attentive, friendly, and welcoming who can help decipher the menu. I say decipher in the best way possible because Normas menu is one of the BEST menus I've ever seen. The names are clever, the preparations thoughtful, and the presentation's exceptional. They start you off with the smoothie "shot" of the day, which was strawberry banana and orange juice. We then ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the crab cake "pancakes". The sandwich was large and the fries FANTASTIC (super crispy yet meaty). The two crab cakes were flattened but large and delicious. They come with an aggressively dressed mixed green salad with white balsamic and a single beer battered onion ring that is filled with a dill tartar sauce/aioli. Highly recommend eating the onion ring first otherwise it gets soggy and if you're not a heavy-dressed salad person, then ask for lighter dressing or on the side. Otherwise, fantastic and flavorful dish. Order a glass of their rosé and you'll have it poured out of a double magnum bottle. Or a Diet Coke and you'll have a personal carafe on the side. NORMA'S patio is gorgeous (and very hot should it not shade in your favor). I brunched here with my parents on a recent trip to Palm Springs. I ordered the scrambled eggs and bacon breakfast quesadilla ($29). There's no real description to this entree (because duh?) only that it comes with Monterey Jack cheese, guacamole, and salsa. This dish was so odd because the quesadilla is topped with a crispy tortilla, sunny side up eggs and then the Monterey Jack cheese, guacamole, and salsa are heaped on top of that little topping. All were a little unnecessary, but I guess if you're charging $29 for a quesadilla, there should be some creative leeway? Overall, the brunch was fine though. My parents enjoyed it and we escaped the heat in the knick of time. The food at NORMA'S is a lot like the food you get when you order room service except here, it's public. It's not bad. We had brunch outside though since we had our dog and found the tables stained and still dirty from spilled juice from earlier guests. While we enjoyed the bright colors on the benches and sun panels, I found the stains unpleasant. Ambiance 4/5 We really liked they started off complimentary shooters of their smoothie of the day, it was nice welcome drink! We ordered chicken Caesar salad (most beautifully presented with a circular crouton dish!), potato pancakes (also creatively presented), eggs Benedict and French toast. Presentation of the food is truly polished and intentional - very nice!! It was a feast for the eyes and taste buds! It was a bit difficult to find this place because it's so well hidden! Once I drove inside, I felt like I had stepped into another world. One hidden by trees, bushes and steeped in relaxation. Valet took my car and I walked through the lobby, enjoying the quirky decor. I told the waitress I wanted to sit outdoors and was very quickly taken care of. I ordered the salmon and date milkshake with oatmeal crust and both were fabulous. The milkshake was so scrumptious that I nearly ordered another, until I remembered the price! First of all- this was one of the best brunch experiences I've had in a long time. My friends and I made an early Sunday morning reservation at Norma's. We originally booked it because I read that it's a place where you may spot a celebrity, so I thought that would be cool. Little did I know the experience would be so great! We were the first guests at breakfast so we had our choice of outdoor seating. There were multiple heat lamps and blankets for our laps. I started with an espresso martini, which was delicious. While we were waiting, they had staff come around to pass out smoothie shots for us to try. I couldn't decide so I ordered two entrees I ordered the Light and Lemony Griddle Cakes and the Crab Louie salad. My one friend ordered the short ribs Benedict and my other friend ordered the Wagner's ring of chunky fruit and an omelet. Not only was the food presentation gorgeous, the food was so tasty! I've never had a crab Louie salad (I think it originated in the Bay Area) but it was so fresh and the perfect way to start my day. The lemon griddle cakes were just tangy and sweet enough to keep eating more. We loved our experience so much that we decided to book a reservation for their evening restaurant, Mister Parker's. The hostess even let us look/walk around Mister Parker's after our breakfast, which I thought was very cool. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. My family and I have eaten at Norma's know less than 20 times between the original in New York and the one here in Palm Springs with most of our dining happening here in Palm Springs. The food has been consistent but hasn't elevated in years. Their new "bidding system" for reservations is atrocious. You don't know if you have a reservation until close to your perceived reservation time. Even then, good luck trying to confirm.
