I'm so glad I stumbled upon Broken Yolk cafe!! It's conveniently located on the second floor a block away from Hotel Zoso. Broken Yolk was so good, my friends and I ended up going there for breakfast all 3 days in a row that we were in town. The first day, I got the chicken tortilla soup and turkey sandwich combo that comes with a delicious choice of salads. I got the berry salad which I definitely recommend! The chicken tortilla soup was SO good that my friends and I got it every single visit. The other favorite repeat order for my friends were the eggs benedict! Above the food, what I have to comment on is the amazing service by Richard and Pablo! They help serve the bar area which is where we sat since we didn't have any reservations. We continued to sit there every day because of how wonderful they were! You can tell that they both love working with one another and that they are willing to go above and beyond for their customers! Despite a fully packed restaurant, Richard personally went and got my chicken tortilla soup when I decided I want it last second after we had already ordered/received our dishes. We've been here twice now, and both times I ordered the Nutella Crepe Combo because it was just that good! Everything came out fresh, delicious, and exactly what I was craving. Real review. Hostess was sweet and arguably the hardest worker in the restaurant. With just a couple other tables, the poor service from our waitress was terrible. The waitress fixed on her phone behind the bar, us having to constantly ask the hostess for service. Food was nothing better than Denny's. Waitress said the Bloody Mary special was award winning. Had an inedible old bacon strip and the waitress could not even properly salt the rim. Mix was blah and no alcohol taste. French Toast was just sugar and flat. I love spicy food. It can't be too hot for me. So I ordered the El Fuego ( the fire) omelette. It was the best omelette I've ever had. It was loaded with spicy chorizo sausage and sliced jalapeños. It had guacamole and a tomato salsa. The cheese was slightly spicy too. It was the best! The service was amazing. On a day of 113 heat outside, we were looking for a casual breakfast with plenty of options and Broken Yolk Cafe was our first stop on our vacation weekend. We only waited about ten minutes without a reservation. Cafe was about half full, tons of pick up orders. We were seated at a very clean table, families and birthday celebration next to us. Very happy atmosphere, various sports on the tvs for us to watch in between service. Husband got the BYC bloody mary. He was very happy, said just the right amount of spice and the bacon was on point. I ordered the Mom Omelette. Heavy on the healthy veggies, light fluffy eggs. Love the grilled bell pepper and onion. I also liked that they offer a blueberry muffin as an alternative to the usual toast. It was so light and fluffy, and the crunch in the hash browns was great. If you see the Sonny Bono fountain and are looking for a quick satisfying breakfast bite, with great portions for price paid, look up, literally, and go to BYC. I don't mind walking upstairs for food but what sold me was how nice the breeze was the completely flowed through the entire building! I've been a customer of Broken Yolk Palm Springs since they opened, which makes writing this review disappointing. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was easily the worst I've had here. We were seated at a table with a soaking wet tabletop. I asked for napkins, but no one offered to wipe it down or dry it. I ordered a carafe of orange juice, which is listed on the menu, but was brought a small glass instead. When I asked about the carafe, the server wasn't familiar with what I was referring to and I had to explain it before the order was corrected. The bigger issue was my food order. After a long wait, I was brought the wrong dish twice. When the correct entrée finally arrived, it still wasn't prepared as ordered. My only modification was substituting potatoes for rice and beans, yet it arrived incorrectly and had to be sent back again. By the time I finally received the right meal, my partner had nearly finished eating. The food itself was underwhelming and did not reflect the quality I remember from earlier visits. What surprised me most was that no manager ever stopped by the table despite multiple mistakes. I could see staff discussing the issue, but no one checked in, apologized, or attempted to make things right. To be fair, I didn't ask for anything to be removed from the bill. I paid in full, left a 20% tip, and simply moved on with my day. This review isn't about seeking compensation--it's about sharing an honest experience. I've given this location several chances because I genuinely enjoyed it when it first opened. Unfortunately, service, food quality, and attention to detail seem to have steadily declined. Palm Springs has too many great breakfast options for me to keep hoping the next visit will be better. Sadly, this will be my last visit. read more

First off, I absolutely love Palm Springs. Live about 20 minutes outside of town and try to hit new restaurants at least 3 times a month. There's always new hidden places in this town. I also love a good breakfast/brunch. I was seated quickly on a balcony all by myself and it was wonderful.....except I was forgotten. Finally waved someone over, ordered and unfortunately forgotten again. After a long wait, the food was finally here and I was a bit disappointed. I requested no onions, but they were there so I picked them out because I was hungry and didn't want to wait any longer. The biscuits were a bit gummy but the country gravy was quite good. I will definitely try this place again, everyone deserves a second chance. I did hear their Eggs Benedict are excellent, will give that one a try. read more

We've eaten at Broken Yolk locations many times and always loved it. Palm Springs has now let us down twice, and this second visit was the worst restaurant experience we've ever had. The timeline, Sunday, August 9: nearly 60 minutes from putting our name down to being seated. Almost 30 more before anyone came to the table. Nearly 60 more for the food after our order finally went in. Close to two hours, almost all of it spent waiting. We never saw the server assigned to our section -- not once, the entire time. Heather, working a different section, stepped in and took care of us on her own. She was excellent, and she's the only reason this wasn't a total loss. Tables seated after us still got their drinks and their orders taken before we did. The explanation we were given for the food delay was the volume of delivery orders. The floor was clearly underwater -- too many large parties and online orders for the staff on hand. On a Sunday morning, that's a staffing decision, not bad luck. And what shouldn't happen either way is the manager doing nothing about it. In nearly two hours, he never visited a single struggling table, never helped a server, and never addressed the backlog. He spent that time socializing with a group of customers who were in for drinks. The one piece of work we saw from him was half-clearing that group's shot glasses after they left. Even after the morning rush ended and most of the dining room had emptied out, no one came by to check on us. We'll keep going to other Broken Yolk locations. This one, we can't recommend. read more

Let me first begin by saying that I'm an enormous fan of their La Quinta location. They are five stars. However, this location is not. My first ATTEMPT to dine there, I was in the desert for a few days by myself . As stated, I love their La Quinta location, so I thought visiting this newly-opened location was a delicious, happy outcome of the delay. Boy, was I wrong. I arrived and put my name in. Waited. Saw the hostess sign out with her manager. Watched her clock out and was told I, the lone person waiting in the empty courtyard, would be approached by the manager for seating. All in, I waited another 10, the manager seated me, casually apologized, took my drink order, never came back. I sat quietly for another 10. When I saw other tables expressing frustration of lack of service amongst themselves, I just got up and left. I was finally able ti dine there while waiting for a delayed flight about a month later. I was hell bent to give them a second chance because of my love for La Quinta. Unfortunately, they were missing items on the menu and service was lackluster.
