Take a while to get served. Even on a day that isn't busy. But the food is good, the drinks are good. Just the wait is my issue. From start, you have to wait to be seated even if the place is empty mostly. Saves time seating myself, then once you order, it normally is supposed to take 15 minutes (from what is told to the customer by the server) but the time it takes from ordering to prep to the food being in front of me, was 30 Minutes. Made me late for work. I usually stop in this spot for a quick bite to eat and pick me up before work. But I may have to start going an hour or two early just to make sure I can eat in peace. Other than this, the place is flawless in their decor, and execution. This is a prime date and brunch spot nonetheless, just make sure you got some time to waste! read more

How are the reviews so high? I was in STL for trade show, Rooster was one block from hotel and two blocks from convention center. My party of three was seated shortly after opening. Service was inexcusably slow and absent. When server finally showed up we knew everything had to go in while we had them captive-drink order, food order, and even tried to make credit card payment to speed our exit. We made it clear that we were exhibitors and needed to staff our booth by 9am. I left my coworkers, STILL NO FOOD (they tried to serve the next table's order to us in error), to eat around 8:52am. My order was obviously packed to go. I ordered the BELT, freaking slices of bread are one inch thick. What a ridiculously unbalanced stupid sandwich. Ketchup for potatoes was good. Read the reviews (which we clearly didn't). Service is SLOW, kitchen is WTF. If you gotta be somewhere and don't have all day, don't come here. Go anywhere else. Artwork on the wall is cool, you're going to be looking at it a lot while you wait. read more

This place has gone downhill. I had been coming here for over a decade and make it in from Chicago at least once a year. This place used to be so refined and traditional but with some unique culinary flare. Now, it's just been turned into American slop. We will never be back. The image i provided shows exactly why. The biscuits were amazing! They were soft, but also had the perfect crust crunch. I enjoyed the tomato soup as well; probably the best tomato soup I've ever had. My friend enjoyed her banana nut French toast. This meal included Pecans, pistachios, pumpkin seeds, and maybe some more hidden nuts. My other friend enjoyed her b.e.l.t. she wasn't able to finish the dish. However, the HOMEMADE mayo sauce on the sandwich stole the show. As well as. The HOMEMADE ketchup. Everything on the menu is homemade and it is clear that each dish is culinarily studied to enhance the dish. In Contrast, our server (lady) seemed quite asleep while serving us. While in St. Louis for work, I ventured over to Rooster's for breakfast one morning. The restaurant is big, open and has a cute aesthetic with a large bar. I was sat immediately as the restaurant was not busy and shortly after being sat, a waitress greeted me, but I told her I needed one second to peruse the menu - water is already available at the table once you are sat. After looking at the menu, I ordered the farmer's platter which comes with three eggs, potatoes, meat and toast. I added cheese to my eggs and for my meat I got chicken sausage patties. I am not sure how to put this nicely or how to represent as a Yelp Elite, but umm the food was not good...at all. The eggs had no seasoning, clearly my cheese was put on last minute as it wasn't melted at all, the chicken sausage was...two thumbs down. My potatoes lacked flavor and also was not good and one of my pieces of toast was burnt. Lastly, they make their own ketchup and that sh*! was just gross, I am so sorry to be brutally honest. The service was great, my waitress was sweet and attentive, but the food was bad and I didn't eat it all, which is not my normal. Sorry, I don't recommend, maybe for drinks though! read more

I am very saddened by my experience at Rooster. I just moved to the downtown area and was excited to have a cute breakfast place near by. I'm glad business is booming for them but the ticket time on the service was very long. It was a long wait to get seated (use Yelp to get on the waitlist!!) and even longer to get our food. My boyfriend and I kept track of the time and it was about 50 minutes for two meals. I take into consideration that it was the weekend and the day of a cardinals game but it seems like they have enough staff to get things done faster. The food is what truly saddened me the most because it was bland. My breakfast potato's were crusty and stale. I would understand if I was serve this 20 minutes before the restaurant was closed but it was 2 hours before closing time. My iced coffee was I believe a chocolate bar iced coffee and was extremely bitter, great whipped cream though. read more

We had high hopes based on reviews. $110 for a family of five. The kids french toast sticks w we're one piece of toast cut up in little long strips. We had three orders of crêpes, Nutella crêpes, apple crêpes, and mushroom crêpes. And the sausage taste like solid piece of beef jerky. Huge lift style space with a great eating bar in the middle, acoustics were great considering how big and open! We were able to catch up and enjoy conversation with no problem. this is mostly a review to shout out our server, ken. top three servers we've ever had in any restaurant, ever. he was super kind, funny, helped us decide, checked in quite a bit, made sure all parts of the restaurant were taking care of us, and he did that for all his tables. we are visiting from out of state and he made sure to give us awesome recommendations. we were just blown away at the level of service we received! our food was also very good. my partner got the stuffed french toast and we both enjoyed (100% shareable) and i got the vegan biscuits and gravy. fantastic!! but only one biscuit just as a heads up. would definitely recommend here to a local or an out of towner read more
