Ohhhhhh man! The St. Louis food scene is a foodie must stop ! We popped into Rooster - South Grand today and it was clear they had just been slammed and were recovering from breakfast rush but we still were greeted and seated with a smile and great conversation with our hostess. Had a moment to check out the merch - cute ! Coffee, "eat local "swag , etc . We opted for slinger dishes , I chose the vegan slinger (Tofu eggs ,vegan sausage ,roasted potatoes, vegan gravy on a fat pice of sourdough ) and hubby went with rooster slinger version . We happily devoured our meals , yum. They do offer vegan crepes here ,which is a RARE find . The only gripe here is they don't have anything spicy ... Sure they've got Tabasco and things like that but some real spice would have set the dishes off . Sticky icky salt and pepper shakers & syrup bottles and The bathrooms downstairs really needed some love and cleaning , even the stairs leading to the restrooms were full of cobwebs . Nothing that would keep me from coming back but the state of the bathrooms didn't match the vibe . The service here was wonderful .

I stopped by Rooster and was reminded why it's such a local favorite. The atmosphere is bright, lively, and welcoming--the kind of place that instantly puts you in a good mood. The menu has so many creative twists on breakfast and lunch classics that it's hard to choose just one thing. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. You can tell they care about quality ingredients and thoughtful combinations. The service was friendly and efficient which made the experience feel smooth and enjoyable. Portions are generous without being overwhelming, and every bite felt satisfying. It's a great spot whether you're meeting friends, grabbing a casual date, or treating yourself to a solo brunch. Rooster consistently delivers comfort food with personality. Definitely a go-to for a delicious and reliable brunch in St. Louis.

We didnt know what Rooster was until I was scrolling through door dash and was like its close let's go try it. We went in and immediately were sat. The place is a decent size place with outdoor seating that's covered. The menu is the perfect size. We ordered the Cuban and the pork slinger. I wanted to try to gooey butter pancakes and was able to order just a single one which was perfect. The food came out and the food was the perfect size portions. Everything was flavorful. We will definitely go back.

We came in about thirty minutes after opening on a weekday, and there was plenty of seating! But people definitely come in soon after so if you're coming in on a weekend I'd definitely come early and plan for parking because I can see how it would fill up fast. The seating is a bit strange, it's aligned like long tables next to each other in the main room so it can feel a bit cramped if it's busy. Our host and server were both wonderful and kind, everything came out quick. I got the chicken crepe and the chocolate mocha. The mocha was alright but I'm not really a chocolate person- but if you're a chocolate lover I would recommend it! I LOVED my chicken crepe, there was plenty of chicken, tons of flavor, crepe was cooked to perfection, and the sauce was amazing. I dream of that chicken crepe, definitely coming back for that again, soon.

Its tight space at the bar but didn't have to wait, so that was a win. Got menu and water quickly, however the glass had lip stain, so absolutely not. Took a minute for them to come back to me also, so much so that some overly talkative guy that sat beside me immediately got to order and I still had to wait 5 more minutes (great). I ordered the Farmer Breakfast (subbed the sausage/bacon for v. version) they opted to not season anything, the vegan sausage can not hold up mine if it tried (I could taste the sodium but not much else), the eggs were warm to cold, the potatoes were meh. The drip coffee was ok, but they just never checked back with me and I had to make deliberate eye contact to get a refill. That being said, I mainly came for coffee and whatever would come with it so ...le sigh. Overall assessment 2/5 not returning. But they are not worst ever, just my worst local brunch establishment; I could have made such a better meal with little effort, but I needed fresh air and wanted to try a new to me Breakfast location.

Came here after a race downtown and it was definitely worth the wait! We loved that the venue was dog friendly and the drinks were delicious. The portions were more than enough to fill us up. Unfortunately, one dish in our party was delayed - they forgot to leave off arugula. But everything was delicious and we left smiling

Visited on a Saturday around 12:30 with a group of six. Was surprised we were seated so quickly because it was packed. Ordered the vegan slinger which is sour dough bread topped with Rooster potatoes, tofu egg, vegan sausage and vegan gravy. I wish I remembered that I had ordered the same dish in the past. Not very good. I think it was the sausage that was overly salty. And, the gravy was very odd tasting....bland but with spices? IDK. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy with an extra biscuit. Comes with two eggs and Rooster potatoes. He described his meal as mediocre. Coffee was not hot. Service is extremely slow. The two star rating came from the atmosphere. Fun open space with long communal tables.

This is my second time at Rooster and I've had nothing but great experiences all around. When I came in I was seated and my order was taken promptly. I ordered the lemon crepe with chicken sausage patties on the side. By the photos I've seen online of the lemon crepe I was hesitant that the combination of the lemon curd, berry compote, and streusel topping was going to be overwhelmingly sweet, but for me personally all of it was the perfect amount of sweetness. It wasn't overly sweet, and all of the ingredients complimented one another. Overall my experience was great!!

Our server was new but he was not very attentive. It took him too long to do anything. I got the ham and jam sandwich with the potatoes and a side of gravy. Gravy was gross and the potatoes had a weird seasoning on it. Didn't eat either. The sandwich was the best thing. My son got the pork slinger and he hated it. He didn't eat any of his food. The gravy was gross. I ended up giving him one of my ham and jam sandwiches. I would not suggest going here. They are slow and the food is too expensive to not be that good.

I hadn't been to a Roosters in ages but it was time for a friend date and this was the perfect place!! All the windows and family style seating with wall seating as well!! We sat at the bar and Jourdan was the best! Yea that's how it's spelled!! But he made the best expresso martinis with actual expresso!!! I truly enjoyed my Tuesday friend date at Roosters.

Whenever we came in to get our table, we saw the rustic modern aesthetics. The line looked like there was a wait. But the restaurant just opened. The line went fast. And we were brought by the hostess to our table. A lot of the tables were connected. Then, our waiter came over to our table. He took our drink order. Our waiter was pretty new working here, and a bit slow taking our orders. I kind of get it. Seats were a bit bouncy since no back support. And of course, I ordered a vanilla shake. For my entree, I ordered the Goat And Cheese Omelette with Ham. The omelette came out slow, but crispy and the ham was plentiful and perfectly cooked. The arugula was a nice garnish for a photo. What an amazing time I had at Rooster.

Even though they were busy on Saturday morning, the service was impeccable! The biscuits and gravy were kind of dry and lukewarm warm, not my favorite dish. The pumpkin pancake however was perfectly cooked and pumpkin-y. Delicious with or without syrup! Overall a good experience.

This was a cute breakfast spot! The service was probably the highlight here; our server was quite sweet and fast, and assisted my party in splitting our check efficiently. Most of the food was just serviceable, based on what my party ordered. My friend and I ordered the Vegan Slinger and the Rooster Slinger respectively, and they were just alright. It needed to have the flavors and proportions balanced a little better, since it was heavy on gravy. My other friend got the Chicken Crepe and said it was one of her favorite breakfast meals she's had, though she would have portioned the included tomatoes differently as well. For drinks, I got the Mocha, and that was well made (I am picky about espresso drinks, and I had no complaints here). Overall, we would return here with different orders, since the ambiance and service were great, and we would love to give the food another chance.

Not only were we not granted an exception on the checks as consolation for not being able to order french fries, there was no indication that this had even occurred to our server. This is precisely the level of temerity we need to inculcate in young women in our society, and I'd encourage her to apply for a job at the women's-only sports bar a few doors down if and when it ever opens. It'd be tragic if she wasn't there if and when I return, but I'd appreciate the fact that she has a greater mission. Hopefully, the deep fryer is working. It being out of commission naturally limited the number of things on the menu we could order. We were only told that we couldn't order anything that required a deep fryer, not given a modified menu or anything. I started going through each item and imagining how it might be prepared, but I couldn't muster the psychological bandwidth to continue. Hit my Cash App if you appreciate the amount of unpaid emotional labor I was compelled to contribute. It occurred to me that I might just get a burger and a side salad, but then I saw that they carry a club sandwich. I love a good club sandwich, and I figured it might make for a light, refreshing alternative, given the weather. There's an option to get a cup of soup for $1.50 extra as a side with your sandwich (no, they didn't offer to eat the charge), and I figured that might go well with my sandwich. I was kicking myself when they brought out someone else's order with the side salad. It looked really good. The Frisco Burger, or whatever they're calling it, looked good too. Meanwhile, the BBQ Beef & Cheddar Soup--the soup du jour (that's French), according to Flo--looked gross, like something your dog might cough up. But damn it was good! It was more beef than anything else. A large bowl of it might actually be too much food. (I'd still eat it, natch.) The overall flavor profile was along the lines of a good french onion soup. It was a reminder that I need to be ordering soup in restaurants more often. I wish the club sandwich was cut into little triangles and fanned out on the plate in some elaborate configuration, like at a place where rich old ladies have lunch, but I guess that wouldn't have been in keeping with the theme. Instead, it was served on the world's thickest Texas toast, with the world's dullest steak knife protruding from its center. This sounds like hyperbole, but I may have honestly been served the equivalent of half a loaf of bread. It was much more bread than I required, but at least it was fresh and delicious, as were all the other ingredients. Turkey used for sandwiches is almost never remarkable, but this was surprisingly great, as good as anything you'd get served as an entree unto itself. Nothing about this place suggests that it would have such good food, but it just goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover. The decor, the overall vibe and the lack of hospitality might not be for everyone, but don't let that deter you.

Songbird is the Dolly Parton of St. Louis breakfast: bigger stage, brighter lights, same voice…read more I've followed this operation since it was a sandwich pop-up at the Tower Grove Farmers' Market, through the brick-and-mortar in The Grove, and now into its larger home in Tower Grove South. The quality has not wavered once. I ordered what I always order: The Combo (fried eggs, maplewood smoked bacon, cheese, brioche toast), extra egg, extra bacon. Most kitchens treat a fried egg as binary (runny or ruined). Songbird has mastered the middle register: lacy edges with a yolk that stays glossy and intact right up until the first bite. I ordered them over hard, and they came out a bit closer to over medium, but they were just as good as I wanted them to be. The bacon carries real smoke. This is a decadent sandwich, big enough that half of it would make a light breakfast; I wasn't remotely hungry after one, the second half was indulgent. The service made the move too. The hostess still recognizes returning customers, and the bigger room finally lets the dining experience breathe. The service at the table could have been a little warmer as we've had it the past, but it is still professional. I was there with two close college buddies, one of whom declared his latte excellent. I keep meaning to get adventurous with the menu, but it is genuinely hard to find a bacon, egg, and cheese toasted this perfectly, and I'd go twice in one day if given the opportunity. 4.8 A full five arrives the day when I can arrive first thing on a Saturday without a 30 minute wait, honestly, it's hard to get a reservation here because of its popularity. I wanted my toast's jam to be on the side and they said no. It was a thick tasteless brick without the jam. The items are not as traditional for a breakfast spot, and when I asked the server what they were known for she said the drinks.... They also run a tight turnaround time so they will make you feel uncomfortable when its time to clear your table and pay the bill because they will tell you the next reservation is in 5minutes. The plates were all different and my guest who got a sandwich had her food come out in a plastic fry basket instead of the nicer plates. Odd. As I mentioned earlier, they are not kid friendly as they don't have a kids menu or kid friendly items like fruit and pancakes. We ordered a side of avocado and chicken sausage as those were the safest for us. Also there are no changing tables in the restrooms. Accessibility note: the entrance is a giant multi-slope and 1 turn ramp into a cramped lobby. The men's restroom is the only one on the main floor and female restroom is tucked far in the backroom inaccessible due to a steep step in the back. It is not wheelchair or walker friendly.
