Love the one on Grand, but this location is a mess. We went for lunch on a Monday and the place was steady, but not busy at all. We sat outside with two other tables...and waited 20 minutes to order. Another 45 minutes go by, not a single waiter comes outside to check on anyone, we never even got our drinks. We checked with the hostess, since we had to get back to work, no update. After a total of an hour and ten minutes of waiting with no drinks or food, we went to the hostess and said to cancel our orders and left. Don't waste your time with the downtown location, drive to the one on South Grand and you'll have a fantastic experience. This place was a pleasant addition to my weekend in Saint Louis. I must say, for not being a crepes lover, I absolutely loved this food and the casual Sunday brunch vibe. I went with their German Sausage # 2 which includes local German sausage, apples and other goodies. It truly was fantastic and would eat here regularly if I lived here. Upon coming to St.Louis I was hoping to find a location to where I can grab some coffee as well as some tasty brunch! I came across Rooster and was simply amazed by the huge selection I can choose from. Each item in the menu was very flavorful and by far the best BRUNCH location that I've come across here at St.Louis. I haven't tried the drinks but I hope to give it a try within this week before I depart. The waitresses are so nice and very helpful to the customers! Their ketchup IS SIMPLY AMAZING! I believe this was all home made because the flavor was VERY unique and didn't taste like a regular ketchup from the bottle. I was here with a group for a conference, so the first major positive is that they accommodated a group of nine people. A couple people in the group had dietary restrictions, which Rooster was well-equipped to accommodate. I had the Egg 2 crepe, which was delicious, but I do want to mention that I think it could use more egg and less goat cheese. Aside from that, delicious. I did order a side of toast which never came, but the waitress took it off the check after I asked. Overall, I thought it was really good--they took good care of us and the interior is so cute. One thing I do want to mention (and this is why I didn't give five stars) is that some of their surfaces are kind of dirty. Not, like, surfaces that are crucial to being sanitized for foodservice, but it was kind of icky. We were seated on a bench that had a shelf behind it, and the bench had a bunch of crumbs on it and the shelf was very dusty. We were in St. Louis for spring break. We came here on a Wednesday morning. We walked here because it was near our hotel and had good reviews. Upon arrival, for a party of 3, we were quoted 20 min. We had to ask twice for coffee while we were waiting (asked upon arrival and then had to ask again). Wait was 30+ min. We ordered right away since we had plenty of time with the menu. It took 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Two of us ordered the bacon and blue crepe, the third ordered French toast. The crepes were good but after eating about , we both realized there was no bacon on the bacon and blue. Manager or host (not sure which) brought us a plate of bacon and they did offer to remake it; however, we had already eaten and had coffee so we said we couldn't eat any more. On the French toast order, it was very plain, regular white bread (oh - original order was for a Nutella crepe but .... they were out of Nutella). The 2 sausage patties were *very crisp* on the bottom and you could not cut them with a fork - too tough. We also had to ask for a coffee refill twice before our server came to fill our cups. Overall, very mediocre ... would not recommend based on our experience. read more

I see Rooster popping up every time I look for brunch and have been meaning to try it some day. And now, I don't know if I'll come back here. A lot of times I keep wanting to say "oh, maybe I came here on a fluke day" or "something else is better" but I'm running out of patience and hope for these types of instances. The decor here is really pretty. Floor to ceiling glass for that open, natural light feel... wood tables to complement. A lot of communal seating, and not too many booths and tables along the walls, which I bet fills up pretty quickly during prime brunch hours, so idk if getting stuck in a communal row is your thing. I bet this place gets really loud quickly. Maybe someday I'll come back and try some crepes, but none stood out to me. For example, putting smoked salmon and all the usual fixins inside a crepe is pretty uninspired, and I think taking away a major component of the original: that warm toasty chewy bagel. Anyway, I feel like our lunch here showed a lot of signs that the restaurant just doesn't care anymore. Watery smoothie that is dripping all over the glass, plopped down on the table like it's nbd. Drastically unevenly cooked french toast. Clumpy cocktail that was unbalanced and way too strong, given to us with no explanation of clump (probably the coconut milk, and probably normal, but at least say something...), underseasoned and broken gravy on the plate. Maybe you want to come when they have their A team on weekend mornings or something. But a restaurant that just lets quality slide willy nilly, without the ability to keep/find/train staff that cares at all hours of the day, is not one that I'd brave the crowd to give a second chance to. when we arrived we were not greeted by a host or any sort of worker for 10 minutes. when the cleaning lady finally greeted us she told us there would be a 20 minute waiting time even tho there were many seats open but only 1 server. when we were seated we were given warm water from the sink after 10 minutes of being sat. after receiving water we were asked what we wanted to eat and drink 20 minutes later. 10 minutes later I received my iced coffee with floating white chunks in it. another 30 minutes went by and we received our cold undercooked food. my eggs had raw egg whites and my biscuits and gravy were raw in the middle but stale to the point of being unable to cut on the outside. my friends crepe was also raw with dry microwaved chicken inside. the only good thing I have to say about this place was the music choices they had silently playing. read more

And then we got donut holes with chocolate sauce, surprise, another disappointment. Tasted like cornbread dipped in mud. While it looked like a nice restaurant inside, looks can be very deceiving and today they certainly were. What a wonderful brunch experience! Where we are in Nashville, brunch can be a stressful time with long lines but this was nothing short of perfect. The hostess and waitress were nice and prompt and there was no wait at high noon. The space is eclectic, charming, and spacious. The coffee is pretty standard but the food is exceptional. Between the two of us we order the biscuit sandwiches (homemade jam!), the #2 sausage crepe (with apples and cheese), the apple crepe, and a side of scrambled eggs. The biscuit sandwiches were everything you'd expect: a nice flaky biscuit with eggs, cheese, and meat. The jams were clearly homemade and tasty. Both crepes were cooked to perfection with the right ratio of pancake to filling. The savory crepe was almost like a Reuben sandwich sans the kraut. The apples were a nice natural sweetener. The apple crepe had tender, fresh baked apples and wasn't overly sweetened unless you dunked it into the side of maple syrup. We left full and happy and glad to have our first meal in St. Louis be so positive. Go visit. You won't regret it! read more

Oh dear sweet baby Jesus in a manger. My great-grandmother would roll over in her grave if she knew I was calling out to the lord to thank him for the crepe I had this morning, but I don't know what else I can do because it was flat out heaven on earth. On a plate. In my mouth. I had a friend in town this weekend and really wanted to showcase St. Louis' "best spots," so after visiting Sanctuaria & Ernesto's for Yelp Eats, touring the History Museum, drowning in pulled pork at Pappy's and wandering through Citygarden, I knew I'd have to keep the awesomeness going. Crepes, Etc. is usually my brunch spot but I thought it'd be cool to eat somewhere downtown, so Rooster it was! We sat outside (it was fairly early so it wasn't TOO hot yet) and surprisingly we were sat in less than ten minutes which I considered fairly impressive for a Sunday at noon. Sitting outside is way more entertaining anyway... the people watching is superb, and we even had a few homeless people ask for money and strike up some pretty hilarious conversations. I work around priorities, and in the morning all I want is coffee. Since we were outside, I had an iced coffee with a shot of caramel (you can add an optional shot of tons of different flavors) and it was SO good though I felt it was perhaps lacking a bit of caffeine. Maybe that's because I'm used to drinking my coffee black, but that's alright. I scanned the list of crepes which is pretty impressive, but of course with goat cheese being my number one love in life, I ordered the "Eggs #2" crepe. It comes with goat cheese and arugula, but I added mushrooms and felt pretty good about my decision. I know this is dramatic, but I was seriously blown away by this crepe. This triangle shaped angel of my life was made with a flaky, moist crust and was filled with tons of creamy goat cheese, perfect, peppery arugula, and big mushrooms, and the chipotle mayo sauce went on every bite & I was immediately in breakfast heaven. I'm pretty sure people around me were wondering what the hell was wrong with me, because I couldn't stop obsessing over this thing (In my previous life, I was definitely an obese, pizza, Chinese food & crepe eating beast of a woman.) I can say with confidence that I'll be back sometime within the next few weeks to indulge in it again. The bonus of eating a breakfast at Rooster is that you aren't hungry again until much later in the day! Cool spot specializing in all sorts of crepes & a great place for brunch. There's a ton of crepes on the menu, sweet and savory. I wanted something salty for breakfast so I went for the Smoked Sirloin #4, which has red onion, arugula, goat cheese, and tomato jam. Instead of red onion though, I asked for caramelized onions instead, and it was pretty damn awesome, especially with the smoked sirloin. The tomato jam is definitely the best part of #4 though. Don't know how they make it, but it is so damn good! There's also a variety of other breakfast items, and I got to try a little bit of the Caramelized Banana & Nuts French Toast. French toast is solid and the caramelized banana is a whole banana sliced in half then cooked in sugar. There's that crunch from the sugar. Also went for the grapefruit juice. Fresh squeezed, not from concentrate! We were lucky that we didn't have to wait but we did go around 1pm. Service was sorta of on & off since the place is pretty big and our waitress was running all over the place. Took awhile before she took our order and it was hard to wave her down at times. If you're like me, Rooster is the go to guru of a casual breakfast crepe or any other delicious early morning eats. But today, I pulled myself away from the breakfast foods and flipped to the backside of the menu...I know what you're thinking, how did you do it? It's really hard, trust me. I decided to try their Veggie Burger with a side of mixed greens and a "Mimo" Mimosa that has pomegranate juice mixed in. Lunch of champions, my friends. All I have to say about this veggie burger is that it may be the best I've ever had. It was spicy; was made with fire roasted corn, pumpkin (MY ALL TIME FAVORITE FLAVOR EVER!), quinoa, black beans, and probably more ungodly goodness, but topped with guacamole. This was a serious veg out in my mouth, it was Fantastic. The portion was gracious and the burger didn't fall apart (extra points!) My greens were lightly vinaigrette-ed and nicely complimented my burger. The mimosa in and of itself is worth at least 4 stars; what a tasty, tart combination! There's not much better on a cold, Sunday morning than a warm, savory breakfast. Although I live in VERY close proximity to a wonderful brunch spot, it seemed like a good idea to try something new today. So after some iPhone searches, Rooster popped up. I'd been here before many years ago and was curious to know if it had changed. After being seated without a wait, our waitress greeted us and got us some fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Really good! If you are thirsty, I suggest the regular sized juice (vs. the small). It went really well with my sausage, apple and cheddar cheese crepe. The BF had a slinger with sausage, potatoes and gravy. He was a little skeptical at first, but loved it after a few bites. I even offered him a taste of my crepe, but he declined because he, "had a taste going on" - which is a good thing in his book! I will agree with other yelpers that the breakfast potatoes were just OK. A little bland with a strange aftertaste. But with crepes like that, Rooster doesn't need to have amazing potatoes. And as other yelpers indicated, parking is kind of a pain. Especially on game day. Other than that, it was a great brunch for sure!
