Seriously, if you're reading this, please be the best advocate for your child - because no one knows your child better than the parent ! (or in my case, Harbor Regional). My son was only here for a little over 3 months but has made such significant progress !!! I can confidently say he has made more progress here than he did other Speech Therapy services as Supernova is run by people that genuinely care about their clients !! When I made my very first call to Supernova, I called one of the co owners, Kathy who was great. I could already tell a difference with the level of care (just over a phone call!!) than other Speech Therapy services I have dealt with. She was able to schedule my son in (very last minute I might add!) & get him on the calendar for one hour weekly sessions. This later was bumped up to twice a week, because Kathy was an awesome advocate & was able to get my son in 2x a week & sometimes more towards the end (through Supernova we had to go through Harbor Regional where the amount of sessions had to be approved.) I was so impressed by this & I didn't know that this could have been done. During our time here, my son has seen Kathy, Judy, Amanda, Maddy, Neriann & Amanda. I personally requested Kathy for the majority of the scheduled sessions (& made sure Kathy knew herself) as my son made the most progress with her. The way she teaches is a bit on the holistic side, with firm + fun combined. It's not all playtime, but progress through play. During each scheduled session, Kathy always took notes on my son progress. At the end of each session she gives the parent homework which helped me help my son even more. I also loved how Kathy is always just a text away if I ever had any questions. During the evaluation (first session), my son was dis regulated & completely non verbal. The very last session, my son now says no with meaning, & his attention span is so so much better than day 1. Every session was meaningful with Kathy. My son made improvement, & never took a step backward in his goals. He has a long way to go still, but the amount of progress he has made in such a short amount of time is really impressive. If you're new to Speech Therapy, do know that not every SLP has the same style of teaching. With that said, not every child will like every SLP or have a good response. & that's ok !! I was able to communicate this with Kathy that my son was not progressing to one of the therapists teaching styles & she took my feedback well. It's not easy hearing the truth, but I really appreciated how Kathy took my feedback with dignity. I highly recommend speech therapy to anyone looking for a SLP for their son/daughte. I wish I found out about this place sooner but happy I was able to get my son the services he needed in such a short amount of time.

As for the previous reviewer, as a clinician myself, I know that children on the spectrum are in great need of structured environments with strict boundaries and consistency across environments, so it was appropriate for the OT to question the child's routines. Giving the child a reward after producing the wrong behavior is just reinforcing the wrong behavior. Children who act out are looking for boundaries. Once you give the boundaries, they will grow accustom to them and flourish within those boundaries. This is the way to love and nurture children!

Awful experience with OT, Lydia, who spent the whole session in our home criticizing my severely…read morenonverbal autistic 6 year old son who engages in self injurious behavior. During his session my son started eating an ice cream sandwich he grabbed out of the freezer after school. I asked if it was ok if he had a snack. She said yes. She then asked with a very rude tone, what time he eats dinner and then said, "And why is he having an ice cream sandwich?!" Then saying, "Does he snack after school at this time, because there is no point of me being here." 5 minutes into our session. I was paying her $150 per session. She didn't try to engage with him but continued to criticize me for his behavior. Umm, I'm seeking help for a reason. We discussed this at length before becoming a client. I'm very aware of my son's challenges. She went on to complain about him not having coping skills (he was in kindergarten) because he screamed and fussed a lot. She criticized our parenting and questioned what we do to set boundaries because "he doesn't have any boundaries." She said that about a developmental delayed and severely autistic 6 year old. You have to try to meet him where he is at. When I said he had a serious problem with eloping and mentioned a scary incident that happened at school she responded with,"what do you expect the school to do when it happens here at home?!" I wasn't even criticizing the school just trying to seek help about eloping but I received no helpful suggestions. She had me in tears at the end of the session. She didn't try getting to know my son or try being friendly with him. Her only engagement with him that day was telling him to sit on a blue rubber dot and she'd let him play with a toy she brought. He heard sit and he sat ( great job!) but not on the rubber dot. She refused to let him play with the toy and he screamed and cried. She had no compassion towards him. That's when he moved on to the snack (ice cream sandwich). My son is very social and sweet, even with all his challenges... she didn't care to be friendly with him. DO NOT GO THERE! I guess it might be okay if your child has minimum issues with communicating and can follow exact directions, no matter how young they are. Power Play is not neuroaffirming at all! I cannot express how bad they are. I'm hoping they try to do better.

As an OT, I sought out Tiffany after learning that she is a lactation consultant and a speech therapist because I wasn't sure if my son was having issues latching and if his mild tongue tie was limiting him from using a bottle when I was preparing to go back to work. She went above and beyond in answering all my questions and concerns, and even took time outside of working hours in sharing her thoughts and suggestions. It was the first time that I felt seen regarding my son's feeling problems and drop in weight. There truly isn't anyone else that can provide a comprehensive service during the first year of a child's feeding/nursing life like Tiffany can. And even though I had to pay out of pocket since my insurance didn't cover her services (which was worth every penny btw), she was able to walk me through the steps to help us transition my son's feeding service to miller's outpatient so I would be in network. I was referred to Tiffany by a friend and she immediately identified the issue. She gave me a detailed specified plan and my symptoms were gone in 3 days. She is seriously the most wonderful, knowledgeable, helpful, responsive, and positive LC. I am so thankful for her help. She saved me. I cannot recommend her enough.
