I've followed Katie around this city for the past 9 years. She is my hair and stylist oracle; I trust no one else with my hair. When I heard that she left her former chair to start her own salon, I knew I just had to see her again. I couldn't be more proud of her and what she's done. She is amazing at her craft, and I am so happy to continue and support her. Before meeting Katie, I was very amateur and clueless when it came to hairstyles and using spa services. Shoot, I still am, but it doesn't matter when you have her on your side! She's sensitive to your needs but also knows how to give ya a gentle push if you're looking for something different. What kind of treatments to use for my thin hair, how to use texture creams and a diffuser for when I missed the way my hair felt after swimming off the Hawaiian beaches, how to use all the heating tools, etc. etc. From fringe to bob to peekaboo hair color and blowouts galore. She kills it, and her new space is absolutely gorgeous. As someone who is extremely particular about my hair, I can honestly say Katie is one of the most talented hair stylists I have ever known. My first appointment with her was 7 years ago for a Keratin treatment. Not long after, I began getting haircuts through her as well. I was so impressed with her color skills on other clients that a couple years ago I finally asked her to color my virgin locks and let me tell you, she killed it. Rooted Salon is a beautiful oasis filled with natural light and good vibes. Katie is an incredible hair stylist. When I FRIED my hair in quarantine, (I...know...) Katie SAVED me! I had bleached my hair and had put several different color conditioners on it, so it was basically 17 different colors. Katie correctly set my expectations and start fixing away. She was gentle and made me feel confident in our plan. After a second lockdown, 4 months later, my color still looks pretty! It grew in seamlessly! All the different stages of fading were pretty too. I did use a conditioner at home for gentle toning off and on. I'm so grateful for Katie, and I highly recommend her for your haircare needs. read more

Katie has been maintaining my blonde and giving me fantastic cuts for several years now and as long as I live here I will continue to see her. She is a realist about what your hair can or cannot handle at a given time and also what will work or not work with your hair texture and habits of styling. I've gone up and down shades depending on the health of my hair and it's all looked fabulous. When I'm a darker blonde the babylights technique she uses makes my hair look so natural that a stranger can't even tell that I have highlights. And when I'm a lighter, more artificial looking blonde my hair still has tons of dimension and never looks washed out. I'm typically very boring and keep my hair straight and long but finally I decided to mix things up and go for some Bardot bangs which can be challenging with hair as fine as mine. They looked great and I got so many compliments! Later I chopped them into baby bangs which was a scary thing to do but again they looked soooo good. As I grow my bangs out back into my utilitarian bangless hair she's helped me to have the most painless process possible and keep everything blended together without looking disjointed. Many times I have walked out saying "this is my favorite hair ever!" until at some point in the future she outdoes herself yet again and I find myself saying it all over again! Katie introduced me to Kevin Murphy products which I now cannot live without and she sells in her new salon. Sugared Angel is my holy grail and keeps my color looking fresh in between appointments. I'm quite introverted and used to always bring a book to hair appointments and keep to myself but Katie is super funny and fun to talk to and I always look forward to catching up while she's doing my hair. read more
