Some words of appreciation for Rooter Hero Eric Jones, who came out at half past midnight to fix my girlfriend's shower cartridge, returning later that day with a better part, charging just what he estimated, not a dollar more. Atop that, Eric even came back the next day to remedy something my girlfriend's astronomically stewpid boyfriend, that would be me, couldn't. It took Eric four minutes. Be careful. There are many glad-handing conmen among plumbers, as there are among electrical and other contractors. Eric Jones is not among them. He should serve as exemplar of his profession, be a regular on This Old House and Ask This Old House. Anyone long in business knows people are quick to complain, slow to praise. So please let my accolade for Eric serves as proxy for all the others this gentleman has helped but who never bothered to thank him. Rooter hero came out to diagnose an issue. Said it was a collapsed pipe and told me to prep a 5x5 area of my garage to be excavated. Took a $1000 deposit. Had a second company come out and clear the clog in minutes. No collapsed pipe. Called Rooter Hero and asked them to refund the deposit since they were untruthful. They instead chose to ignore my attempts to reach out. Wells Fargo clawed the deposit back from them and upheld the dispute. We could have done this the easy way! read more

On June 1, 2026, I noted I was unable to flush my ensuite toliet. So I attempted to plunge the toilet without success. I went to my guest toliet and noted it was bubbling. I found myself in a panic and contacted my homeowner company who informed me they could not be able to send a plumbing company for two hours. Being a 79 year old senior and needed to go to the bathroom, I decided to contact Roto Rooter; however I contacted Roto Hero instead because their online website is IDENTICAL to Rotor Rooter advertisement. The technician arrived within the hour and crawled under the house and informed me the sewer line pipes had burst and needed to be repaired. Not knowing what the repair required, I had the technician talk with my son, who agreed with the information that was shared with him that the work needed to be done. The Rooter Hero Supervisor Jesse arrived and fast talked me into signing a contract to the whooping cost of $22,000.00 for the repair. Please note I am retired on a fixed income. The work took three days...I have a ugly sewer plate on my porch surrounded by an unsightly expansion joint. The contact indicated that I paid for all the tools required to complete the project. I used $15,000 of my savings to pay for this repair and as of today, every time I turn the water on in my kitchen there is this knocking sound in my living room. Service Finance financed the remaining $7,000 for 20 years...I am sure I will be dead before the loan is paid off:) To say I am depressed and overwhelmed by what was to be the pleasure of my final days ; but such is life. Very disappointed with my experience using this plumbing company. I originally called them out to unclog my toilets and showers, and I was charged $778.30 just for removing the toilets, yet the problem was still not successfully unclogged afterward. On top of that, I was then charged over $2,100 for cable/hydro scrub and a camera inspection through the clean-out access. What makes this even more frustrating is that I was never shown any camera footage or even told whether a proper camera inspection was actually completed. The entire experience felt more focused on upselling than fixing the actual issue. Shortly after, they started pushing a $24,000 repair contract and repeatedly said "no pressure," while continuing to pressure me into signing immediately. I understand plumbing work can be expensive, but customers deserve transparency, proof of the issues being claimed, and fair pricing for work performed. I highly recommend getting multiple opinions before agreeing to major repairs with this company. read more

Stay away from these guys. My bill went from under a hundred dollars to over 1800 to unclog my sewer line. I'll never forget the look in their eyes and how excited they were. They didn't stop there; I was then showed a picture of a broken pipe under the street and gave me an estimate of over 20,000 dollars. When I called another company for a second estimate, they said they were unable to give me an estimate because there was nothing to repair and showed me a video of my pipes. Rooter Hero review Be very careful with this company. Hire Rooter Hero Plumbing ONLY if you have money to flush down the drain. I hired them to unclog a 4" lateral line with the clean-out near the sidewalk at the front of my house. I had spoken to the plumber when he was on his way here. I asked him what size cables he had in his truck. He told me he only has a machine with a 3/8" cable. I knew from my experience that a 3/8" cable to use on a 4" pipe is not going to work out. I gave him the job anyway. I still could not believe the plumber ONLY had ONE drain cleaner machine (snake) in his truck that uses a 3/8" cable. The 3/8" cable is only used for pipes no larger than 2". He was trying to unclog my 4" drain with the 3/8" cable! That is a waste of time. He tried with the 3/8" cable and it did not do the job and I already knew it wouldn't. The other problem was the cable had kinks. A real plumber should have at least 3 drain cleaner machines in his truck with cables sizes of 1/4" 3/8", 1/2", 5/8" or 3/4". Because he could NOT unclog the 4" drain with his little toy machine, he was trying to sell me a job to hydro jet the drain for $1800. That is their trick. He knew that the chances of unclogging a 4" drain line using a 3/8" cable was very slim. That's when they try to sell me something. I told him goodbye. After he left, I called another plumber. They unclogged the drain with a machine using a 3/4" cable. The correct size cable for the job. I should not had been charged for the service because he did not have the right tool to do the job. Not even sure why I paid him. So remember, hire Rooter Hero Plumbing only if you have money to flush down the drain. Ooh wait, you can't flush your money down the drain because he did not unclogged it. read more

On 3/18/26 hired a tech from this company paid over $300 to have him snake my drain after a leak in my kitchen drain. He wrote a report with general information. My insurance carrier wanted to know what was in the drain. After five attempts from my carrier and myself to gather the information, it still hasn't been provided. I have started the process with the State Licensing Board and discovered my complaint wasn't the only one. As of this date still waiting for answers. read more

With flooding in my crawl space, I was notified that the sewer, water line and gas line were all leaking. Rooter Hero charged $50,000. I was informed by another companies technician that the cost was very excessive. Jesse was their manager. He was rude and insulting when I tried to discuss the work. $1600 estimate to replace a single toilet in a newer development home. Way overpriced!

Needed emergency main drain clearing. They came right away on Sunday and started diagnosis of problem. The main drain line to the street was blocked with tree roots. They gave an exact quote for each step of work. It would have been completed in 8 working days (very fast for size of job) but Christmas set it back a couple of days. Everyone was great, polite, efficient. We were kept informed of each step before they started it. They had pictures and videos showing our problem and their work as it progressed. TLDR: Avoid this business at all costs! They are scammers. We called them to check on their own sewer work, which they had previously done on our house. We heard a leak and wanted them to check it. But they said it was a completely different problem, and quoted us $30k to repipe all of the pipes in our house, and when we said we wanted a second opinion they put some duct tape over the pipe and then ghosted us. Two other plumbers said the pipe looked cut by a blade, not wear and tear. Both guessed that rooter hero accidentally cut the pipe on their previous repair and quoted us the repipe to cover it up. I tried going thru BBB to get some money back and they never responded. Other plumbers also said they grossly overcharged on the first repair. Just avoid them. read more

He explained the issues, provided competitive rates, was very accommodating, and provided a human aspect that you don't always get from service industries. Worst experience ever. Convinced me that I had a leak under my house since I received a $800+ water bill and replaced all my plumbing at a cost of over $18,000!!! Angel from Rooter Hero, from their Fairfield people, came to our home today. here in Suisun, to snake our Laundry room drain that had been backing up like Old Faithful. and our kitchen sink, I suspected some how was involved, It was. I also thought that we had a much larger, COSTLY issue, believing that the ABS drain pipe under our kitchen sinkl had also developed a leak. It had not. Angel determined that it was the, "Sure Vent." in the ABS drain pipe. He was fantastic, IMO going above and beyond, and the service fee was very very reasonable. Rooter Hero is a complete scam operation. DO NOT use them! My kitchen drain was suddenly completly blocked - nothing was draining at all. I found their "$59 to clear any drain" special, called, and a guy arrived within 2 hours. He seemed nice enough, and tried snaking my kitchen drain from the outside. He told me that in the pipe under the house there was a very hard and impassible block. He had to bring another guy out, who ran a camera. The camera got through easily, but the 2nd guy told me that there was clearly a very serious blockage in that drain. The only way to fix it would cost $12,000, or he could do a potential "band-aid" fix for $1,400! None of what he said made sense. The camera went through the line without any problems, yet the water in my sink did not move. They even ran water into the outside outlet and it flowed through no problem. Yes there was some sludge in the line, but that did not explain what was happening. I asked why the camera could get through but the snake could not, and they did not have an explanation. The best they could come up with was that the snake was hitting a bend in the pipe, likely where the kitchen drain pipe connected to the main. So there was never really a blockage in that line at all. Still, the water sat in my kitchen sink and had not moved. Their story was just not adding up. After they left, I went under the sink myself and pulled apart some pipes. Within a few minutes, I found something in the T-pipe that was completely blocking the water from draining. I cleared that out, and my sink has been draining normally ever since. They never even looked under the sink. This company clearly used the "$59 clear a drain special" as a ruse to trump up fake issues that are very costly to "fix". Complete scam artists, and not even very good at it. read more

Beware: Rooter Hero out of Concord, CA are Financial Predators. In my case, it was financial exploitation that I believe constitutes elder abuse. As a senior citizen (69), I was taken advantage of by Rooter Hero, located at 3950 Laura Alice Way, Concord, CA 94520 (License #829861). In July 2025, Rooter Hero representatives claimed that the sewer piping beneath my house was an emergency situation and a serious health hazard. They used alarming language and pressured me into signing a contract immediately--without giving me time to read the contract, seek a second opinion, or fully understand the scope and cost of the work. The work was started the next morning, and I was charged $20,000. At the time, I was overwhelmed and nearly had an emotional breakdown due to the sudden financial shock. Later, I learned from other professionals that the fair market value for the same job should have been between $6,000 and $8,000. I also spoke with a building inspector from the City of Concord Building Division, who confirmed that Rooter Hero misrepresented the cost of the work on the building permit--reporting a charge of $10,100 instead of the actual $20,000. The city inspector agreed this was a clear case of price gouging. But Rooter Hero wasn't done exploiting me. As they were completing the work, they claimed an additional $20,000 in sewer repairs was needed to finish the project--bringing the total to $40,000. I refused to sign another contract and instead hired a local plumber to complete the remaining work for $2,000. This plumber agreed that both the original $20,000 charge and the proposed additional $20,000 were excessive and unreasonable. I now realize that I was misled, manipulated, and financially exploited targeted because and of my age and vulnerability. This experience has caused me significant emotional distress and financial hardship. read more

Terrible experience, do NOT use. We had a small backup in the main sewer line at the front of our house and called rooter hero to come for a quick fix. The servicer (Bryan) said it should be quick and easy, just needed to snake the pipe, which was my assumption as well. After about 30 minutes he said this might be much worse than expected, another 30 minutes went by and he was able to clear the blockage, and there was no more standing water. He goes on to say that it would be best if we had the pipe hydro-jetted to completely clear it out. We wait an hour for that service to occur. After that, he tells us we get a "Free camera service" included with the hydro jet, but his supervisor needed to do the camera service. His supervisor shows up, runs the camera, and tells us that because of two very small rootballs, we need to replace the whole pipe from our house to the main sewer line - a major excavation, city permits, pipes, etc. needed and this would now cost us $30,000. Immediately started saying there are payment plans we can do and pushed hard for us to sign on the spot. We did not, wanted time to do our own research and turns out $30,000 is way more expensive than necessary for a fix on something like this. Good on them for hte show they put on, and we did end up having to pay for the hyrdo-jet, but lesson learned, will never use this service again. They are extremely predatory, and prey on the less-knowledgable folks just trying to make as much money as they can. For reference, the technicians names were Bryan and Luis. As a new home owner, this is quite possibly one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a professional services company. read more

On June 25th Rooter Hero came to my daughter's house to fix a leak. The original estimate was for $7,400. Soon after she got another estimate raising it to $28,800. It didn't stop there. As the work was being done, the estimate rose again to $44,500. A previous review showed that a woman had a very similar experience. When the job was done Jesse hounded my daughter to pay on the spot. I told her, as her father that I wanted to look at the invoice first. She called me the following day, with Jesse present, and I paid the bill by credit card. He specifically told us, that he would send a report, specifying what we asked to make an insurance claim. My daughter called him many times after that, And never got a callback. At that point, I got involved. I called the cell phone that my daughter gave me, and it was answered by Stanley, the other technician that worked with Jesse. He started to give me a really hard time, telling me that this was his personal phone. I asked him to whom should I should speak and he said Nathan. I asked for the phone number, and he hung up on me. As I was about to call the office, I got a phone call from Jesse, and that this was the first time he said that he heard about this. It was Thursday night, and he asked me, to give him until Monday to get back to me. It's Wednesday night that I am writing this review, and as I expected, he has not gotten back to me. Came out on a Sunday morning which was nice, but spent most of the rest of the day on up-selling (and waiting hours for) hydro jetting which turned out not to be needed in the long run. Waited the rest of the day and most of the next day for a camera inspection, but the "supervisor" was not available. Gave up on day 3 for the "complimentary" camera inspection and got another plumber to inspect and find a root ball right at the entrance to the cleanout. read more

Never use Rootor Hero or any plumbing company that has you sign a contract before the work is started. They will give you a very high bid and once you sign and work has started you are stuck. They told us that the job would take as much as eight plus hours and that a certified plumber would be on site for the job and inspection. They said the replacement materials were very expensive. In our case none of this was true. The work itself took three hours. The workman took an hour to go to get material from Home Depot. Total time for the work was four hours. When I called to ask for a price reduction, the company representative was not helpful. He claimed that we just didn't want to pay the bill and that he was turning this over to their attorneys. They said that all companies have you sign similar contracts for work. Don't do it. We now have an exorbitant bill to pay. Find a local independent plumber who will give you a more correct estimate for time and materials. KB read more
