I requested a service and got an email saying I am booked... no date or time on the email. (Apparently the were going to send someone out asap, no price quote just send someone). I call them and schedule an appointment the next day. They reassure me that they will give me a quote when they arrive. I schedule a two hour time frame knowing the would come at that time. Next day arrives, I get a call at 4:45 (appt time was 4pm-6 pm) and they say they are still trying to get someone out to my place. They had 24 hours to "try"... I needed someone and say okay. Closer to 6 pm is fine. I call them to check in it would be closer to 8pm. What person wants someone's their home at 8pm!? I said no because I would feel uncomfortable and that I booked a time frame for a reason. They lost my business and others shouldn't give in to waiting around for them to "try" to send someone out. 3 months ago I had a sewage clog and called Rooter Hero because the had a special on this service. They guy they sent snake the line was polite and professional, I even tipped him $20. The next day I noticed I was still having the same issue. I called them back and they sent me another plumber named Jones. I may be mispelling his name. He told me that the line wasn't clogged and that a portion of the sewage line needed to be replace at a cost of $12,000. Or he would replace the entire sewage line for $20,000. Now I'm a senior, and I felt as if I was being taken advantage of. I told him I could not afford that kind of money. He gave me his phone number (707) 515-8206 and told me he could do it as a side job for bit cheaper. The next day I called a different plumber and showed him the section of line that was needing repair. He agreed that there was problems but his quote was $2,000. Also he said the rest of the line was fine. I hired him and he did the work. After he was finish the line was still clogged. He snaked out the line and fixed my initial problem. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. All of the other reviews saying that they prey on the elderly and use high pressure sales tactics are 100% true. They lied to us at least 3 times. My 87 year old mother called them for a slow draining bathroom sink. After going under the house, she was told that her problem is she needs $18,000 of re-piping and they needed to start the next day (Sunday.) When she called to cancel that until I had time to help her, they told her that they had already taken out the permit (Lie #1), and that they had already cut her pipes when they were under the house and they need to be replaced (Lie #2) When I got involved they told me that her pipes were under a recall. When I asked how they determined that, I was told they had photos and video from under the house and they would send them to me. (Lie #3) I never received the photos and eventually they ended up ghosting me. I sent a reputable worker under the house and he showed me photos or a perfectly functioning plumbing system with no leaks. Looking for a plumber to find and fix a leak. Called Rooter Hero dispatch said they come out for free and give a free estimate. The guy that arrived was nice and professional, looked around and then couldn't determine where the leak was from besides saying water travels. He said we come out for free but there is a $59 special for diagnostics which he looked around in the house and flushed the toilet a few times. Still unable to determine he said we can open your Sheetrock for $350 or send a camera down the toilet to see if the pipes are bad for about $750. With those options still no guarantee to find the leak. This free dispatch and free estimate is kind of misleading. I probably wouldn't recommend using them. read more

The clog clearing ended up costing us over 300 dollars. He also mentioned that our pipes were original from when the house was built in 1950. I didn't clock that at first. It WAS built in 1950, but how did he know that? They looked it up so they could scam us with the "pipes are too old" BS. 15,000 bucks. He came up with that number in about 5 minutes. Scammers. *SCAM ALERT* I called them for a sewage backup issue and told them the sewage pump seemed to be having issues. They put a camera into my STORM DRAIN and said the pipes were cracked and filled with mud and that I needed to cut open my driveway and have a sleeve installed before it burst in the next day or so. The initial plumber barely looked at the clogs and told me that he had to call in a manager who came by and said it would cost 10s of thousands of dollars to get to the clog. Just had another plumber come in and do the work for 1/10th of the cost. Found the source of the clog and was on his way. The next morning, it clogged again, so they returned to redo the job. They inspected the piping by accessing the crawl space and then presented an outrageous five-figure estimate for replacement, citing sagging and aging pipes. To make matters worse, they claimed there was raw sewage at one end of the pipe. They insisted this was the best price, stating they had applied every possible discount, including approval from a district manager. I agreed to replace the piping but chose not to use their services. Instead, I hired a reputable licensed plumber whose measurements showed the piping was definitely not the oversize they claimed, and there was no raw sewage. The technician, and then the manager Max Dukes, lied and told us there was a full sewage leak and break with black mold... Ezhaun said that the sewage was "everywhere" and that we needed to get out of the house right away and get a full new sewage system, costing over 22,000$ with a "managers discount." I spoke with the manager, Max Dukes, and questioned the estimate they gave us as it even gave us a brand new toilet and everything you could possibly think of, he told me that it was very serious and that we had to leave and stay somewhere else right away and that once the city found out our place would be "red taped." they tried to get us to sign on contact and the manager told me it needed to be signed that day, and to have an emergency work done by the following day. I am so grateful I took a moment and waited and got a second opinion. I then got a third opinion just to be sure. THE TRUTH was that we had NO SEWAGE ISSUE we had a simple clog in our sewer from roots, and then SOME grey water from a SMALL leak in a pipe from our dishwasher. They came to unclog my kitchen sink for $89, last year. We were happy about the results so when our sink got clogged again, we called them. This time they couldn't unclog it even after using a hydro blaster. There were two people working on the clog to no avail. So they left and charge us $2250 for just that one visit and not able to fix the problem. They said they will come back with a camera to look down the pipes, they came back , now there are 3 people, they told my husband the camera is not needed because they know the pipes are clogged with dirt and grease. Quoted us $8000 to fix the problem. We turned them down. My husband and neighbor went down where the outlet of the pipe was and lo and behold - 2 hours of snaking and the pipe was unclogged! I feel misled and felt they could've finished the job my husband and neighbor did for the $ amount I paid. I was also pressured to sign a contract and make the payment asap by a technician. The people on the phone when I called were also rude, one guy was huffing on the phone like he was exasperated with me for asking questions. Scammers - call someone else. On or about May 11, 2026 my wife called Rooter Hero to my home in Lafayette to unclog a lateral sewer. The technician who attended was Joseph - he was friendly and professional. He did not want to snake my line despite my requests to do so (the stated reason to the dispatcher was for a mechanical snake cleaning). He said that because my snaking efforts failed, his would as well as his machine was similar to mine. I specifically asked for them to come out to snake my line but instead he recommended that I pay for a hydro jet, and I agreed. The hydro jet did not work but I was still charged the $1,863 fee. The next day Joseph and another colleague came out to mark the obstruction with an electronic finder. They recommended a spot repair and cutting through my neighbors patio. I again asked them to snake my line no less than 5 times (I begged for them to try) and they refused, stating that if the hydro jet didn't work, the snake will certainly not work. The next day Absolute Plumbing came out and snaked my line and were able to provide flow to my lateral (they upcharged me - $700, but at least I could use my toilets and kitchen). We called them to get a drained cleared for $77 because it's a great price, or is it? For frame of reference I am a journeyman plumber so I know what I'm talking about. Had a clog I couldn't get out so I called them in. To be fair they were here for about two hours and put on a good show, looked like they were really trying, but were they? The head they were using wasn't the correct head for the job, it was a flimsy spring head used for looser clogs instead of the needed cutting head or at least a larger spring head. After two hours of show they told me they'd need to cut my ceiling open to inspect a pipe and that'll be $300, and they are pushy about it. The proposed job was going to be about $3k-$4k and I said thank you, paid them the $77 dollars and declined them cutting open my ceiling. Called another plumber the next day who came out with the right equipment and blew out the exact same clog in about 20 minutes. You do get what you pay for apparently. read more

They identified the cause fine and correctly identified that we needed a replacement lateral, but their pricing felt like extortion. $51,000 to clear out the blockage and install a replacement lateral to reach a back unit 120 feet from the street. This included $7,000 to clear the old blockage and install a clean out hatch. High pressure to agree in a few hours. When we said we'd get other bids they immediately dropped the asking price to $41,000. Rival bids came in from $10,000 to $29,000 not including the $7k of previous work. Feels like a scam. Had appointment for 10-12. But an emergency came up and the technician stated we be next sorry for delay and your patience. Showed up 3.20 hours late. Understood the flood was more important! No complaints on my end...yet Told the technician Logan and Matthew that I needed the clean out snaked. I showed them where it was located. Logan states that I must have another! I said no, this is it. Logan says I have to go under the house. I refused! I have speaker wires and they lay on the ground and the soil is moist from winter rains. Plus no clean out under my house. I explained to the techs that I replaced 40 feet of abs in August. I started at the seer area and exchanged them carefully.! I told them I was using "dishwasher pods" and stopped just a week or so ago and started using cascades liquid. The techs started a snake at my clean out and tried twice saying they used 75 ft of snake. I said you should have a marking on the snake.. or showing 60 ft.. 70 ft.. etc so you know how much you used. I looked at the chamber and there was a few loops still on the chamber and they still had to reach up at the 6 ft level to clean out. Since the snake didn't clear it, Logan stated for 1600$ it would clean it and guarantee for one year. I refused! They got the gear put away, I paid my 59$ for the trip and still had a clogged drain. I went to Lowe's picked up a drain gel heavy duty, followed directions using 8 ounces. Let sit 30 minutes. Turned on the hot water.. an OUTSTANDING cleaned! And ran the water 5 minutes. I called these guys after my initial appointment with a different plumber fell through--I was willing to wait for hours to have them come out the same day, and the $59 coupon to snake my drain seemed like a great deal. The young man who came was kind, professional, and got to work right away. Within 30 mins he told me the clog in my drain was impenetrable with the snakes he used (even a "diamond-head" tipped one) and showed me what looked like soil on the end of the snake. He said the clog was likely a symptom of a larger problem, and that there could be a number of issues, but without hydro blasting the line and getting a camera in there, we wouldn't know for sure. He called his supervisor to get me a "deal" on the hydro blaster, and quoted me $1700, assuring me that whatever needed fixing, the $1700 could be applied to future costs. I thanked him for his time, and declined any more work, and paid him for his attempt to unclog my drain. The thing is, I had been quoted a hydro blast & camera inspection already from a local plumber for $350, so I knew the quote (nearly 5x as much) was price gouging. The next morning, I had another plumber come in; he snaked my drain (no diamond-head needed) and cleared it in under 40 mins. He even showed me more or less where the clog was, between the sink drain and the access point outdoors--a span of less than 10ft--said the clog was gunk, not soil. He didn't recommend blasting the line and guaranteed his work for 1 year. I will never call on these folks ever again. Yes they came out and fixed the issue but they are bandits. They knew the sewer line was broken and needed to be replaced so we could use our bathrooms. No snaking was going to clear the clog. It also did not give us the luxury to call around to get estimate for the work since we needed and immediate repair. There cost where astronomical and we replaced only the broken pipe. We had an issue recently again and call in a contractor from the CVSan district approval list. They quoted a price of around $8900.00 to replace the sewer line from the house to the county joint. That is what Rooter Hero charged for a 4 foot section. Rooter Hero also gave us a quote at the time for just replacing the pipe in the yard for $25,000.00. Only doing half the work for twice as much. Thank goodness I did not go that way. Please be aware Rooter Hero are no heroes. They are the are rip offs artist especially when you are in a bind taking advantage of you. read more

This company is disorganized, pushy, overpriced, and has questionable policies around providing estimates. I opened a project here on Yelp for toilet installation. I did not ask for this specific company, but Yelp sent out the request to multiple service providers, as it routinely does. I did not ask for same-day service or for someone to be sent out immediately. I attached a detailed video to my project request, showing what needed to be done: replacing an old toilet with a new toilet. Just watch the video and send me a quote. Pandemonium ensued. Rooter Hero sent me simultaneous conflicting messages from two different numbers - one asking me when would be a good day and time, and the other telling that they were already on the way. The more I explained that I did not want someone coming out today, the more messages I got stating that the plumber was now on the way to my house. When I called up to make sure he would NOT be sent out today, the phone attendant promised that they would cancel the order and not send him out without coordinating it with me. A few minutes later, the Rooter Hero truck pulled up to my house. I had to literally get someone out of the shower so I could show him the bathroom, even though I had never asked for him to come in the first place and was promised that he would not. The plumber barely spoke English, so I switched to Spanish. HE SAID HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF YELP. I showed him the toilet and explained that we'd like to switch it out for a newer one. He orally quoted a price that was more than double the cost that was given by other plumbers in response to this project request. I asked him to have his company send me a quote in writing, and he responded that ROOTER HERO DOES NOT EVER GIVE WRITTEN ESTIMATES. I thanked him and he left. I called Rooter Hero back a third time and relayed the entire story.
