We've ordered carry-out from here on multiple occasions. Three times, the order has been wrong. That happens. But the more significant issue is the callous attitude of the staff. After driving back to pick up the missing food, I was treated as if I were the problem. No apology, no remorse, very much a "sucks to be you attitude". I won't be back. The food is just, meh. Ok. The last time it happened I responded to their email and the owner, Scotty, replied back that'd he appreciated the feedback and would work to be better. This place has been on my list for a while and finally got to check it out on a Sunday, they had free kids meals with the purchase of an adult entree and wings on special, you can get them in all kinds of flavors I did the sriracha honey and mild, both were really good! They have frozen rosé in their machines which I've never seen anywhere else, worth checking out if you like rosé. They have a great selection of rotating beers and pitchers of margaritas. They have a very kid friendly I'm environment which I appreciated a lot! They have popcorn, coloring and activity pages with a decent selection for kids menu items. Their menu has a lot of things I'd like to go back to try and each month they have cocktails of the month. They currently have a special lent menu with a lot of unique items. Came here with friends for a late night meal! We were surprised how crowded this place was on a weekday night at 9pm. Even being crowded, we were seated quickly! Our server came right over and we were able to order right away! We were impressed how quickly our food came especially having ordered for 4 adults and 2 kids. I had the Truth Burger and it was delicious! It had lettuce, tomato, fried onions, pickles, ranch and cheese! The ranch had great flavor and the fried onions add a nice crunch! Their signature sauce is very good...it's very reminiscent of honey mustard! The kids meal are nice portions for a reasonable price as well! The vibe is that of a bar but still family friendly! A nice touch is they offer complimentary popcorn! We noticed they offer specials every day of the week...excited to try some of those on our next visit! read more

Upon entering we got a bucket of popcorn to eat as we waited on our food! Our waitress was helpful and attentive, never letting my husbands Iced Tea go empty and even giving us a to go cup when we left. I got the Southern Pride Burger, with a yummy pimento cheese & a tomato jam, on a Gluten Free Bun with fresh fruit. So yummy! My husband got The Rueben Burger with fries and fry sauce. The burgers are smash burgers and you can get one to three patties. Currently there is also a special Menu for Lent. Paper towels are on the table. Lots of tv's to watch the games, which I think is why the noise level rose as we left as it looked like some people were showing up to watch something on the screen. I unfortunately forgot to photo our food as I was hungry and just excited to eat... I got the Ruben burger(I am a huge fan of corned beef and sauerkraut). The bites that I got with sauerkraut were fantastic, unfortunately (and please know this is a personal opinion) there was not enough for me to get it in every bite. Personally I would take the lettuce off(it diluted the flavor) and I would add twice as much kraut. Good evening Scott. Long time patron of you last venture and many of its locations. First and second time visiting a Roots Burger Bar. I was in this location for its first Monday open last week for lunch and came in tonight the 2nd Monday for dinner. I have never been one to pull punches when it comes to reviews so I'll give my honest feedback. Let's start with hours. It is great to see this location open on Mondays now for the wing special. That being said, Yelp still lists it as closed, I sent an update request to them. As I mentioned I came in last week for lunch and was seated rapidly and served with the same expedience. This can be said for tonight as well. A friendly greeting and seated within one minute due to no wait, and given that fresh popcorn to start the meal off with was a nice touch. But the first time we tried coming in was a Friday evening around 7pm. I bet you can guess, we didn't stick around with a crowd packed in and a wait outside the door. This is a good thing for you and hopefully you can keep the doors open having a smaller square footage than some of the massive buildings of years ago, but as soon as a neighboring business moves or closes, we gotta take a wall down to expand, lol. The servers I have had were both friendly, quick with suggestions and refills and attentive. When I find a place I like to frequent I typically find a usual for my server and ask for them by name. I'm hoping this becomes true for Roots as well. I still talk to our Southport previous business waitress. Hannah was the best, knew our drink order and food orders typically. You have some good servers and staff. This brings us to the food. Each visit we did the wing special. The first visit was boneless wings for me with sauce on the side and boneless with sauce on them for the wife as well as a side of onion rings. The boneless were about the same quality as B-dubs but overcooked a bit. Need to bring in hand dipped fresh not frozen to really make these great. The saucing skills as mentioned by someone in a previous review was lacking quite a bit. Thankfully as the server was placing it to the table, he saw how little sauce was on my wife's wings and brought her more sauce right away. The onion rings could be better as well, perhaps fresh hand battered would do wonders, but ok for bar food. Tonight I chose to go the bone-in route, sauce on the side. The wings were cooked perfectly and having BOGO was nice especially with how wing prices had been lately. These are not the type of wings I enjoy though. I prefer a battered wing like the old place used to have. So much better in my opinion. But again this is an opinion, I'm sure many prefer the quick fried like this in some good sauce just not me. They were good quality just not my taste so no fault to the food. It would be great to see a few more sauces come to town, perhaps a Garlic Parmesan and a Sriracha Honey would be wonderful additions. Tonight I chose the tots, which were cooked perfectly came out hot and tasty. I will be back to enjoy this establishment more, perhaps for taco night or hot dog night. I hope to enjoy a burger next time. I sure miss a certain peanut butter jalapeño burger. read more

First time here and I had the best burger! The sloppy jalopy was amazing with so many good flavors! They offer a good selection of sides to accompany your meal-my tomato cucumber choice was overwhelmed by the onion chunks in it. Hubs loved his burger with mushrooms, horseradish sauce and carmelized onions. The kids meal was a generous portion. Another devoured the peanut butter and jalapeño burger. This was my first experience here. My husband has been her before and said it was good. I wanted to give it a try since it was in the area we were heading. We were greeted by Diona, and she was wonderful from the start. I would recommend asking for her as you will get 5 star service. My husband got the club and broccoli cheddar soup, and both looked amazing! I had the buffalo chicken wrap and loaded tots (as a recommendation from Diona) they did not disappoint. Finally, our daughter was treated well with the offer of free Ice cream at the end of her meal. If you are looking for a great place to eat that is not commercialized and small business try it out! Arrived at the business to see a sign on the door stating they would close early about an hour and a half early. Staff was not welcoming and seemed annoyed we walked in. Not one person greeted and acknowledged us with a smile. The food was good but the customer service was terrible! I'm sure the owner would not approve. You all should know better and be ashamed of your piss poor attitudes towards customers. Is it because we were black? In this current climate of things you should be aware how you make customers especially people of color feel. You are in the service industry! The last time I went here I ordered fish and fries. The fries were good but the cod was worse than any I ever had. The manager contacted me on here but when I went back to him he did not reply. Today we decided to try again. Sad to see the atmosphere was not good, though the burger was great, however the fries must have been made at lunch time and it's now 2.30pm for they were so stale!
