So happy we were in the area so I could treat my husband and mother-in-law to one of the best hidden gems in New Mexico! Parking lot a bit full but was around noon. I remembered they have a lending library so I brought a book I finished to add to it. Greeted upon entering, found menus and didn't feel rushed to order. (Have to watch head near counter due to slope of stairs). All staff were friendly and patient w any questions. The dining room was mostly filled but found a good table for us 3. I love the mis-matched furniture and all the art. Plus all the local made items on display and for sale. Plenty of books and magazines if wanting to read while dining. Food was brought out quickly. We all enjoyed what we ordered, everything tasted fresh. I look forward to next time!

From farm to table. Fresh food with daily specials. We got coffee, Matcha, lavender lemonade, and huckleberry ice tea. All tasted wonderful and refreshing.

3.5 stars Came here yesterday for lunch after the main lunch rush (easy to find, plenty of parking). Food came out quickly and there's indoor and outdoor seating (outdoor is a must to watch the hummingbirds of course). I was excited to come here after having previously gone to the farm dinner at Schwebach Farms (prepared by Roots). My dad and I both got the chicken panini $11.50, which came with a pickle and a few grapes on the side. The sandwich itself had nicely chopped chicken, shredded cheese, onion, pesto, tomato, and a zesty sauce (the pesto gave me a little bit of heartburn but it is what it is). It was good and the perfect serving size, but could've used a little more flavor. We got a blueberry coconut muffin and a peanut butter muffin to go ($5+ with a slight upcharge for credit card fees). I kind of wish I had gone with the muffin and an iced pumpkin spice latte, but that'll be for next time

    Breakfast sandwich perfection!

My aunt and uncle are locals and took me to Roots right after I arrived in Cedar Crest. It is the favorite place of everyone for miles around. The staff is friendly, vibe is chill, and the food and coffee are delicious! They are closed some days of the week so check their hours and plan to stay a while. Indoor and outdoor seating to match your mood. They have a nice little shop to pick up some farm grown gifts or treats to bring home too.

    German breakfast and fruit salad

Pretty popular spot right before getting into town, we decide to see what's so special about this place. Ordered a German breakfast and fruit salad. 1. German breakfast: pieces of ham, salami, cheese that seems like it's from one of those packages, super thin, cut into medium pieces and lay on the plate with scattered sliced blood orange? Reminds me of a kids art project. 2. Fruit salad: I thought maybe I might get some leaves with my fruits, just a small bowl, bananas, blueberry, dried cranberries and oranges. Coffee was good and they have non coffee stuff too like tea and chai. Small locally made goods section definitely be sure to check out. I don't know if I be here for the food but the coffee and goods sure!

5 star for food and atmosphere. Sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful day and resident kitties. My group enjoyed the antipasto platter, chicken panini, soup, and a breakfast sandwich. Perfect portions for brunch. Topped it off with a chocolate chip cookie and or meal raisin. Highly recommend!

After several visits, I can say it has become one of my favorite places for brunch. Fresh from the oven quiche, paninis, cookies... etc....

What makes a good breakfast burrito? Like any self respecting New Mexican, I have spent a lifetime eating my way closer to answering this question. A good breakfast burrito is balanced and contains proportionate ratios of egg, sausage, potato, cheese and of course, green Chile. While I appreciated the freshness of the ingredients for Roots' breakfast burrito, mine contained mostly egg, with a couple of small potato chunks thrown in. The egg was nicely cooked, but really dominated the other ingredients. I wish I had asked if adding green Chile was a possibility-- not a complete dealbreaker to me, provided the ingredient ratios were more balanced. The burrito came with a side of zesty sauce. I think it's sour cream, blended with either salsa or hot sauce. Very tasty, and almost made up for the overwhelming egg. Taste is 8/10, though. Adding green Chile and more equal proportions of ingredients would take this burrito to the top. I'd eat it again! The staff are really kind and friendly. They appear to enjoy working there.

If you're considering stopping here, do it! Such a welcoming feeling, great staff and music, and above all the food here was delicious. We had their breakfast sandwich which I really enjoyed, as well as their fancy toast with butter, cinnamon, and sugar. Both were excellent choices. Also if you're looking for a great drink, their golden milk latte was delicious, just the right amount of sweet and flavorful all around. 10/10 can't wait to be back someday!!

Right next to Triangle Grocery on 14. The place was pretty busy when we arrived at 6:30pm but we were seated right away and had great service from our waitress and we even had the owner come around. I had the second street brewery Agua Fria Pilsner, which I hadn't had and REALLY liked it. It is also gluten removed!! Woo hoo! My hubby had the La Cumbra Malpais Stout, which he drinks at home anyway. I ordered the Rueben. Now listen, I LOVE a good Rueben and hate a bad one. Don't we all. This Reuben was the BOMB! Trail Rider smokes their own pastrami and holy cow was this sandwich good! It was tasty! The rye was yummy, the sauerkraut was on point and the meat.... OMG. Listen, I ate the entire sandwich!! And the fries were tasty with enough salt that I didn't need ketchup. My hubby had the smash burger and ate most of it. The rest was lovingly placed in a to go box. We also got the Platinum bar - peanut butter, rice crispies and chocolate and my hubby got the mudslide. Which was Oreos and chocolate mouse and whipped cream. Both were yummy. The service, care and scrumptious food will bring me back. Even from the Westside of Albuquerque because it was that good. Next time we need to try the pizza and the pasta but I will come back again and again for the Rueben. Thank you Trail Rider!!
