They were right. We were seated quickly, given menus and asked what we would like to drink (no alcohol is served there). The server told us about the specials. We spoke with the manager who knew my family because they were nearly missed when someone drove into the restaurant and he talked about the incident. We ordered our dinners which were served quickly. I enjoy a good caesar salad and am usually disappointed with them in most restaurants. The caesar salad here was creamy and flavorful with a flavor close to the classic. It was evenly tossed with good croutons. It is one of the better salads I've had in a casual restaurant like Bennetts. Pot roast should be tender and not chewy. It is difficult to cook to just the right moment before it becomes stringy and chewy. Bennett's got it right; the meat was fork tender and flavorful. It came off the larger pieces easily without clinging to them. The vegies were al dente and tasted fresh. My family's food that I tasted was equally well cooked. We had both the strawberry and red velvet cakes. The red velvet was especially nicely done and not too sweet. We're going back to Bennett's on my next trip to see my family.

Finding a fresh burger, hand-cut fries, and a drink for $11 in today's economy is practically unheard of. Now for the food: The Original Burger (with Swiss substituted for cheddar): Absolute home run. The patty is infused with actual chunks of bacon, every bite was hot, juicy, and packed with flavor. When she received the plate there was what looked like MAYBE 2 small chicken strips cut up on the salad, quite possibly less than you'd serve a child. Before the waitress left we asked "is this extra chicken?" And she ensured us it was. We called her back over to ask her about it again, to us there was no way that serving included extra chicken. She stated she would talk to the kitchen then came back and told us that it normally includes 2 full chicken strips and that they added 1 extra full chicken strip to the salad BUT she had the cook prepare another full chicken strip anyway. After just a few moment she brought us what they call a full chicken strip; it was in a 1.5 ounce plastic sauce container (smaller than what they brought the ranch dressing in) and it was barely 1/2 full. (Anybody in their right mind knows you can fit an entire chicken strip in something that small. So after all of that they want us to believe that a full strip can fit into that. We again asked "that is a whole full chicken strip?" And she informed us that they just wouldn't charge us for the extra. That's not what we wanted and could not care less about the charge. All in all the dish probably had 3 ounces of chicken on it as they tried to pass it off as 4 full chicken strips. After we ate, I paid and tipped our waitress almost 40% because of the debacle and I felt bad for her having to go back and forth dealing with the situation. Before leaving I went downstairs and asked to see the manager. The hostess was nice and went back to the kitchen to inform them someone wanted to speak. After a few moments she came back out and informed me that our waitress that handled the situation actually was the manager. So we were either lied to by her and the manager didn't want to speak with us about the situation or our waitress (who might be the manager) lied to us about the whole ordeal as it was happening. The only reason we were so persistent is because my fiancé and I weight out every portion of food we eat throughout the week and we can just about look at food and know how much of what is there. My finances eats grilled chicken tenderloins every day for lunch during the week so with us looking at "chicken strips" every day, again, we can just about look at it and tell what is or isn't there. So to be consistently lied to about how much they are serving us is frustrating especially when we were NOT looking for a discount. We understand there is an up charge for extra protein and don't care what the price of the up charge is, we just wanted more chicken on the dish which is why we asked for extra. Quit lying to people about how much food you are serving them and expecting them to believe it. Even when the plate first came out there MIGHT have been enough on it to be considered the normal amount without ordering any extra. Please see the pic below to see what they tried telling us is "four whole strips"
