My girls and I made a last minute Valentine's reservation at Rosa for brunch when our original plans fell through and we kept talking about how glad we were that things worked out this way. This is a super aesthetic and girly restaurant near Union square and they had even decorated for Valentine's Day! We ordered a strawberry margarita pitcher ($75) on the rocks which was the perfect amount of sweet and tart and paired it with some freshly made table side guacamole ($19). I found myself pretty full at the start of the meal, since they also give you rounds of chips and fresh salsa. I also ordered some chipotle chicken empanadas ($14) and I especially liked chihuahua cheese and chipotle combo. Admittedly, solo drinks are pretty expensive ($13-20), so if you come with friends, i recommend getting a pitcher because with three of us, we got three drinks each out of it. Went to meet a friend for lunch today and they made reservations at Rosa Mexicano. Food and drinks were very good and fresh Decor was nice and bench seating very comfortable. Steak Fajitas were cooked perfectly and served on a sizzling plate, and enjoyed the taste. We had the table side double avocado guacamole was delicious but they need to changed the cart they make it on, I think it has seen its last day.. time to send them out to pasture. Shrimp tempura tacos very good as well but not liking the salsa, strange taste. Our waitress was great and very personable and didn't rush us. Their food is consistent. It's good. It's an energetic atmosphere anytime you dine. Out-of-towners think it's a fun experience. After another restaurant cancelled our reservations with 2 hrs of warning - my friends and I were scrambling to find a restaurant last minute. Thankfully Rosa Mexicano had some spots open on OpenTable. The restaurant was decorated for Valentines Day. It was perfect backdrop for Galantines lunch. We ordered a pitcher of strawberry margarita ($80) and split between 3 of us. We each had about 3 drinks each which worked out perfect for us. The restaurant gave us complimentary chips and made guacamole right in front of us. One friend ordered the Crispy Shrimp Tempura Tacos ($22), another ordered the Chipotle Chicken Empanadas ($14), and I had the Birria & Cheese Empanadas ($15). We each enjoyed our meal. There was a photographer which took a few pictures of us. We weren't going to buy any, but there was one pose he told us to do that we really liked how it came out. Picture in frame was $22. It was a nice touch to leave with a little memory. When we were ready to leave, the waitress left out check on the table and there was an option to pay online and split however many ways we wanted so we split it 3 ways. It was my first time at this Rosa Mexicano location, and it was lively but the space also felt more cramped than the other locations. The table we were seated at was next to a busy walkway and people kept bumping into my chair. The food was good and so was my drink! The portions are huge here so definitely shareable. I was disappointed that the table side guacamole wasn't made table side. Every other time I've been to Rosa Mexicano, they make the guacamole table side and it's so special! It's been awhile since I've been to this spot. I also remember when it used to be the "Americana" restaurant (dated myself here :-P). It's still that grandeur spot and I am surprised it was still here. This place is HUGE! Service was spot on. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. The fresh guacamole (made right next to you) is always a home run. I had the birria tacos. They were so delicious. Plus, the prices for this kind of place in the Flat Iron District were surprisingly affordable. I love Rosa Mexicano! Every time I visit I am also so satisfied with my meal and drinks. I came on a Friday after work and I had two margaritas one was Pomegranate and the other was Mango. The Pomegranate is my favorite. The service was okay since the waitress seemed like she had many tables to take care of. I ordered a Chicken Quesadilla and a side of Street Corn Esquites. The restaurant started to get busy as the time got later. I'm sure Fridays are one of their busiest nights. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and they play nice music. I wish that they would have happy hour specials on Fridays. The drinks were a bit pricey. I'll definitely be back and visit on a different day to take advantage of happy hour deals. read more

Let's start by saying that upon arriving at Rosa Mexicano, I was awed by how beautifully it was decorated. I thought they did a great job creating a lovely atmosphere. We were promptly seated for our reservation and greeted. Once seated, I think this is where the issues began to arise. We asked for a brunch menu and keep in mind, there were four of us but they only gave us one single menu, so we had to share it, lol. Another issue was that it took a while for our server to stop by and ask if we wanted extra drinks throughout our time, considering we had a bottomless brunch. Not sure if he was new, but he seemed like he lacked experience. The good thing about all of this is that, regardless of the service, the food was great! I went to Rosa Mexicano on Cinco de Mayo, so I expected it to be busy, but being packed isn't an excuse for what we experienced. To start on a positive note, the hostess was incredibly kind and managed to find us a table at peak time, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the night. We ordered a margarita pitcher that was honestly undrinkable. It wasn't just strong, it tasted like low-quality tequila in the worst way. Even after asking for extra blood orange juice to try to salvage it, none of us could drink it, and we ended up leaving the entire pitcher untouched. The food was just as disappointing. No one at the table finished their meal, it was that bad across the board. On top of that, the service was chaotic. It took about 20 minutes after our food arrived to get utensils, which meant everything was sitting there getting cold. We had to repeatedly ask for chips that were either forgotten or took forever to come out. It was clear the restaurant was severely understaffed for one of the busiest nights of the year, and the whole experience felt disorganized and neglected. I can understand things being slower on a holiday, but poor food quality, bad drinks, and basic service issues are harder to overlook. For a $300 bill, this was a really disappointing experience. Our waitress Nicole was absolutely unprofessional and made our entire experience miserable. By the time she came to our table, we had already been waiting long enough to decide on both our appetizer and entrées. We were ready to order everything at once. When we tried to place our full order, she flat-out refused to take our entrée order, and had the audacity to ask if we were "in a rush" when we pushed back. When we said no, she used that as an excuse to only put in the guacamole. She insisted we had to eat the guac first before she would take our entrée order, but we were extremely hungry and did not want to have to wait even longer for our food. No matter how many times we tried, she kept refusing to take our entrée order. For the next 25 minutes, she never once came back to our table. We repeatedly tried to flag her down and got nothing. She made zero effort to check on us or take our order, even knowing we were ready. I have never in my life been refused the ability to place my order at a restaurant. After being ignored for so long, I had to ask a different waitress to bring our check. That is when Nicole finally decided to show up at our table, 30 minutes in, to casually ask how the guacamole was. I told her we had lost our appetites and were no longer hungry. Her response was to aggressively slap down the receipt and walk away with a horrible attitude, showing zero remorse or professionalism. Food was good, but the manager or host (unsure what his role is) was disappointing. I came here for a work dinner last night with a 6pm reservation. We all ordered an appetizer, 2 drinks each, and entrees. The food and service was good up until the end of the dinner. When we passed on dessert, we were finishing our drinks. At this time, it was 7:25. With a table of 5, I believe the table is usually held until at least 7:45-8p. The manager/host (tall man in suit) came up to our table and asked if we had enjoyed our meal or needed anything else. I responded that the meal was perfect, and we didn't need anything else at this time. His tone slightly changed from hospitable to hurried and said "Great please vacate your table as soon as possible then so we can seat a new party". If we continued ordering, it doesn't seem that he would have requested the table back - and we hadn't been in the restaurant for long. The restaurant was also only ~25% full. There was no wait. Ambiance was also less than desired because the restaurant music's bass of the music was shaking and buzzing our table most of the dinner. While I would have come back, I solely will not because of him. How embarrassing to have this happen at a work dinner, especially when we weren't there for long. read more

This has always been that flashy joint by Lincoln Center that I've been meaning to check out and never did -- WELL I finally did and it's actually pretty fun. Sure, it's fairly touristy and has some bizarre interior design but the food is good and that's all that matters. We had a lovely waiter who seemed busy but managed to still be fairly attentive (though by the end we paid via this QR code on the table which I dunno if that's what you're meant to do or what. It charges an extra fee to do it which is a bummer though) and certainly was friendly. We ended up getting guacamole to share, which they make at table side (not too exciting? Though the guy scooping out the whole avocado in one scoop was impressive) and tasted delicious for sure. The entrees were also solid, I got chicken tacos that I enjoyed while my friends also had no complaints. Can't say it's my favorite ambiance but the food was good (a touch expensive but also like what do you expect for Lincoln Square?) and the pomegranate margarita is as good as they say so I'd totally go back. read more
