Chips salsa and $7 happy hour margaritas

Rosa Mexicao is one of my all time favorite go-tos. I have been going to their many restaurants since the early 2000's. I even went to the original one over by the 59th Street Bridge and 1st Avenue. They are consistent with their drinks, food and atmosphere. My favorite location for fun is located in the Flatiron, however, the Lincoln Center location is just as nice with a different vibe. My friends from California love it and that is saying alot. We went the week before July 4th. They have an unbeatable happy hour deal featuring kid-sized glass of frozen margarita for $7. My fave and their signature is the Pomegranate flavor. Have loved it forever. They also serve free chips and salsa in the bar area. The Flatiron location is huge and airy. It has a large seated bar area and incredible dining room with a glorious atrium, banquettes as well as round tables for large parties. I even had a birthday celebration here once. Such a lively scene with freshly made guacamole and little divers on the blue tiled wall. Bathrooms are sometimes not the cleanest but overall decent. They give good portions of food for the price EXCEPT the large guacamole. It is very overpriced and they only use 2 avocados. I could make 10 times the servings at home for the same $35 that they charged. (Not the same price listed online) I will always opt to patronize this establishment. I have been doing so for years and that is truly an accomplishment. Well done Rosas!!

Yummy food as always. Love a Blood Orange Frozen Margarita! Service attentive and friendly. Very vibrant ambiance.

Rosa Mexicano was decent. Food was good. The guacamole at the table was phenomenal. What I didn't like was the people coming to the table to sell gum or a weird photo of the family. The waiter was friendly and the restaurant was clean. It was big and cutely decorated.

Went to meet a friend for lunch today and they made reservations at Rosa Mexicano. Food and drinks were very good and fresh Decor was nice and bench seating very comfortable. Steak Fajitas were cooked perfectly and served on a sizzling plate, and enjoyed the taste. We had the table side double avocado guacamole was delicious but they need to changed the cart they make it on, I think it has seen its last day.. time to send them out to pasture. Shrimp tempura tacos very good as well but not liking the salsa, strange taste. Our waitress was great and very personable and didn't rush us. I would go back if in the area but wouldn't be driving in to go eat.

    Guacamole (double order).

Rosa Mexicano has held its own in this location. It's still busy among tourists and locals. We've been coming to this location for over twenty years. It's large enough to accommodate groups. Their food is consistent. It's good. It's an energetic atmosphere anytime you dine. Out-of-towners think it's a fun experience. We live in L.A. now, but I am happy to see Rosa Mexicano is still in business. Kudos!

My girls and I made a last minute Valentine's reservation at Rosa for brunch when our original plans fell through and we kept talking about how glad we were that things worked out this way. This is a super aesthetic and girly restaurant near Union square and they had even decorated for Valentine's Day! We ordered a strawberry margarita pitcher ($75) on the rocks which was the perfect amount of sweet and tart and paired it with some freshly made table side guacamole ($19). I found myself pretty full at the start of the meal, since they also give you rounds of chips and fresh salsa. I also ordered some chipotle chicken empanadas ($14) and I especially liked chihuahua cheese and chipotle combo. Admittedly, solo drinks are pretty expensive ($13-20), so if you come with friends, i recommend getting a pitcher because with three of us, we got three drinks each out of it. A great place to come with girlfriends!

After another restaurant cancelled our reservations with 2 hrs of warning - my friends and I were scrambling to find a restaurant last minute. Thankfully Rosa Mexicano had some spots open on OpenTable. The restaurant was decorated for Valentines Day. It was perfect backdrop for Galantines lunch. We ordered a pitcher of strawberry margarita ($80) and split between 3 of us. We each had about 3 drinks each which worked out perfect for us. The restaurant gave us complimentary chips and made guacamole right in front of us. One friend ordered the Crispy Shrimp Tempura Tacos ($22), another ordered the Chipotle Chicken Empanadas ($14), and I had the Birria & Cheese Empanadas ($15). We each enjoyed our meal. There was a photographer which took a few pictures of us. We weren't going to buy any, but there was one pose he told us to do that we really liked how it came out. Picture in frame was $22. It was a nice touch to leave with a little memory. When we were ready to leave, the waitress left out check on the table and there was an option to pay online and split however many ways we wanted so we split it 3 ways. On the window we saw a Monday Special for $5 margaritas so we will definitely be back!!!!

One of the few toddler friendly restaurants we found on our visit to nyc! Service was top tier as well. We enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa (entertainment for said toddler) and the margaritas were fresh and delicious. I ordered the chicken quesadillas for my entree. It is listed as an appetizer however the portion was plenty and it was so flavorful! Would absolutely eat here again!

Great service. Stopped in with 6 co-workers took us in right away. The place is big inside and has seating outside. Food was delicious and margaritas were good also. Let me say get the Duck tacos. Really good!

It was my first time at this Rosa Mexicano location, and it was lively but the space also felt more cramped than the other locations. The table we were seated at was next to a busy walkway and people kept bumping into my chair. The food was good and so was my drink! The portions are huge here so definitely shareable. I was disappointed that the table side guacamole wasn't made table side. Every other time I've been to Rosa Mexicano, they make the guacamole table side and it's so special! I wonder if they don't do that here because of the cramped space.

I came here for National Tequila Day 7/24 and $5 Margarita Mondays during happy hour. So we tried an array of margaritas we had the frozen pomegranate Margarita (5/5), - Viva Mexico (cucumber, lime, and pomegranate frozen Margarita(10/5) $5 Mondays Honey Badger Blitz (4.5/5) $5 Mondays Piña de Fuego -spicy start pineapple finish 3.5/5 Mini Quesadillas 5/5 ($7) happy hour Oaxacan Egg Rolls (5/5) $9 happy hour Shrimp Diablo (10/5) $10 happy hour Nachos Zarape (3.75/5) $10happy hour The shrimp is perfectly fried and seasoned to perfection with a hint of spicy from the sauce. The quesadillas we kept ordering for more. The egg rolls were sold out on National Tequila Day but was available our second time around, very delicious, hefty and the tomato chipotle sauce was great. They have a nice size bar area and the restaurant is very spacious. They also got TVs at the bar area perfect to watch sports.

It's been awhile since I've been to this spot. I also remember when it used to be the "Americana" restaurant (dated myself here :-P). It's still that grandeur spot and I am surprised it was still here. This place is HUGE! Service was spot on. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. The fresh guacamole (made right next to you) is always a home run. I had the birria tacos. They were so delicious. Plus, the prices for this kind of place in the Flat Iron District were surprisingly affordable. If you have guests from out-of-town and don't know where to bring them for food and drinks, take them here. You won't regret it.

The front of house "girls" said a table would be available 1-2 hours but a seat at the upstairs bar was immediately available...tired and hungry we agreed. The kicker was: the upstairs tables were *completely unoccupied* and remained so for the hour or so it took to serve us a couple of drinks and eat a meal while seated at the bar. While the food and bar service was great, we expressed out disappointment of not being allowed to sit at a table in the *entirely vacant* upper level (BTW, it was wonderfully quiet up there, compared to downstairs). Excuses ranged from "short staffed" (despite three young women at front of house being deep in conversation with themselves) to "no server upstairs" , both clearly BS as someone clearly served us, but they were apparently "runners" not "servers". We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

If you are someone who is looking at an aesthetic place, this is a top contender. Unfortunately, I would say this place is better looking than the food is good. Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.

Decent size Mexican restaurant with some seating in the front and a handful of tables in the back dining room. We started with chips and guac. The guac is large so I understand the price. It was very good. No complaints. The chips could have used more salt though which is always a concern. You'd think Mexican spots would have a tortilla chip down by now. I ordered a steak quesadilla. The steak was tender and had pretty good flavor. I just wish there was more. Especially considering the price. Certainly not a bad quesadilla but the value wasn't quite there. Still, a fine option if you want Mexican food and you are in the area. I'd say the 3.5 rating is pretty spot on.
