One of the only decent happy hours in the area that lasts until 7! Really appreciate food included on the "fiesta hour" menu too. They also allow you to order off this menu at a table, which is a nice perk considering most places do happy hour at the bar only. My colleague and I shared the $25 carafe of passionfruit margarita. Be warned, this carafe is smaller than your average size. It probably fills about 4 mini-margarita glasses (normally $7 each). Beers, such as corona and modelo, are also included in the happy hour menu. Food was solid. Love the free chips and salsa that they give. I ordered the Mexican Smashburger + fries for $20. My personal preference were the mom-and-pop Mexican restaurants I left behind in Georgia, though to paraphrase a famous movie, " ... we're not in Kansas anymore." Not bad, though I prefer mine fruitier. Had made-at-the-table guacamole which was my favorite part of dinner. T enjoyed carnitas enchiladas. Nicely spiced, I had to agree. My chicken fajitas were good, though I've had better. Presentation was great. My friend, who had a combination of steak and shrimp fajitas was perfectly happy, though commented that the tortillas were too small to accommodate her shrimp. For dessert we shared tres leches cake. Pro tip, restaurant is on the 2nd floor and the entrance is next to the Empire hotel entrance! It took me a minute to find it initially. Ambiance and service are great, food was just ok. As a Texan I will say this is more traditional Mexican style vs my preferred taste of Tex-Mex, but this is personal preference. Beautiful interior and fun atmosphere. Acoustically very loud, so don't expect to have intimate conversations. Great location- went there after the NYC Half marathon which let out 1 1/2 blocks away from Central Park .lots of vegetarian and gluten free options. Guacamole is prepared tableside and is delicious. They put out chips and salsa to start. Due to the crowd after the half marathon , the ordered dishes came out very late , and we had to wait a very very long time, but given the circumstances,I totally understand as it was swamped with people and it is a very large restaurant. Staying at Empire Hotel and was looking for a place to have coffee and catch up on some work. Walked in to this restaurant (adjacent to hotel) and asked for a table. Hostess told me if I get a table, I am to have the "breakfast experience" and that only the cramped bar would allow for workspace. Well, I was not prepared for the whole "breakfast experience," so I moved out to the hallway and proceeded to do my work. I made a reservation at my favorite location next to Lincoln Center and when I got out of the Uber I was like, what?! It's closed? That's not possible, how could it be closed - as in boarded up closed - if I have a reservation? Turns out my favorite location moved. It is on the same block but just up and around the corner. At first I thought it was smaller going into a lobby with just a staircase and no first level dining but ascending the stairs brought one to a surprisingly large space -- most likely larger than the old location. The refresh did this old favorite well and rhymes with what I have seen in the new Orlando location as well. It has been a few years since I dined at Rosa Mexicano so I was a little confused when I couldn't find the location because they moved in September. The new venue is very large with an abundance of tables. However, the gender neutral bathroom is so small and there is always a line. The food was OK. I got the taco salad and the black beans tasted a little inedible. It was also impossible to get a drink refill. I asked my waitress for more water and I had to find someone else to get it 15 minutes later when she never returned. Went here after the movies with a friend, I ordered a mocktail that was a bit heavy on the lime and was slightly too sour but I still finished it. The salsa and chips were good, the salsa was mild which was fine for me! Then I ordered the queso fundido. It was absolutely life changing. The best queso fundido I've ever eaten, with the PERFECT cheesy umami flavor. I almost ate the whole thing by myself but had to stop myself because I still had my soup coming. The service was a little slow so I could've finished it two times over in the time between when I ordered and when the soup came. The chicken tortilla soup was fine, it was more of a deconstructed chicken taco with some thick broth. The chicken was a bit dry but it was alright overall. Tonight was my first time getting delivery via Seamless from this restaurant. The food was delicious and arrived right on time! I had the chicken enchiladas suizas and a side of street corn. The enchiladas also came with your choice of rice and I got mexican rice. Everything was warm when it arrived and both items are ones I have had in person. They traveled very well and were just as delicious as they are in the restaurant! My one complaint was it said every order came with complimentary chips and salsa, and mine did not. Arrived at 9pm with my boyfriend on a Friday night, and was ignored for several minutes by who I'm assuming was one of the managers, as she wasn't wearing all black. The hostess eventually greeted us and led us to the bar. The bartender was super helpful and quick, but we could hear the manager cursing people out behind us the entire hour we were there. We ordered drinks and each had shrimp tacos. To pay $18 for tacos with ONE shrimp is insane to me. (See photo of the shrimp butterflied and placed in the center to resemble 2 shrimp). All of the food was cold and lacked flavor. We ordered another round of drinks and another manager (male) came up and asked "how long do you think you'll be here because I'm trying to sit some other people" Since we felt rushed, we decided to leave.
