The meats and salads looked okay, but I was there for gelato. Unfortunately for me, the gelato was do hard the servers had a difficult time scooping it- totally not the consistency of real gelato! Also, I tried a sample of the green tea gelato, and I'll preface by stating that I love green tea ice cream, and it had a layer of sticky freezer burn on top that made it gritty. I tried a taste of my husbands peanut butter crunch and it also had that old gritty taste and texture. I wish they would have put more care into that product. read more

We love Rosalia's Deli! The woodburning oven pizza is delicious plus we stop in for cold cuts too. Their vodka sauce and marinara sauce are amazing. I heard about this place a few months ago and I can't stay away. Everything is very fresh and the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. I decided to make a deli tray for a holiday party and wanted a balance of flavors, when I arrived they were so helpful. They gave me some great suggestions and let me sample some different meats and cheeses to complete my tray. It turned out just as I envisioned and was a big hit at the party! This is by far my favorite lunch spot in Elmhurst. They have awesome Boars Head sandwiches and amazing pizza...for a great price. I have yet to find a place where i can get a prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich for under $6. And the pizza.....ohhh the pizza. Its everything i want in a lunch time pizza. my favorite is the prosciutto and roasted veggie. The fresh mozzarella and blue cheese on the crispy thin crust is just a party in my mouth. Excellent brick oven pizza. Nice and thin with a "real crust" and not gobbled with dough or cheese. The margheritta was a class act! Also brought home some ricotta lemon cookies that the owner makes. I went to Rosalia's today for lunch with a couple friends and ordered a BLT to go. I'd been here one other time and was excited for some delicious food. However, this trip was a little different. While they seemed well-staffed, the staff seemed slow, flustered and unable to handle the amount of people there for lunch. After about 10 minutes of waiting, one of the women behind the counter realized no one had made my sandwich and asked another person to do it. Another 5 minutes later, the same woman realized I STILL didn't have my sandwich, and she asked the girl who'd made it where it was. She replied it was right here on the counter, but she had failed to put it in a bag and give me the sandwich from behind the counter. Finally, after 15 minutes I had a simple BLT sandwich that should have taken just a couple minutes to assemble. Furthermore, the actual sandwich was extremely disappointing: soggy, dripping with grease, warm lettuce, and the whole thing was falling apart. I am still giving Rosalia's 3 stars because I had a good experience my first time around and I am likely to give it another chance. read more

I heard good things about this deli and finally tried it yesterday: I can honestly say that it is the best deli sandwich I've had in the Elmhurst area. All of the ingredients were very fresh and the sandwich was very well prepared. I stayed basic and ordered the Italian sub. Again, the best I've had locally. My co-worker and I ate here today for the 1st time. Our office is near by and we have driven past it so many times and i cannot believe we never stopped. We were SOOOOOo pleasantly surprised. Service was very pleasant, food was fresh hot and made to order!!! I enjoyed a panini called "the guys sandwich" WOW! it was awesome. It had chipotle chicken, with chipotle cheese and a spicy mayo... it was so delicious! I can't wait to order it again. The panini came with a small little side salad which had a very light sprinkle of dressing. I also order the beef barley soup (this was the soup of the day) and again it was soooooo Delicious!!!!!! I just had to get a few freshly baked baked good and I can confirm IM GLAD I DID!!!! I got a nutella type cookie, almond crescent, canolli, lemon ricotta cookie and were they all soooooo good and very reasonably priced if you ask me. Fresh made good food that is priced right? YES PLEASE!!! my Co-worker had the gouda apple panini, of course i had to try hers, another delicious choice and so different then my own. This was on the sweeter side yet salty from the turkey mmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmm mmmmmmmmm! The ambiance is so cute and cozy... there is big community tables or little 2 seater tables along the window.... the adorable brick oven where they make fresh pizzas when u order is right where u can see it and keeps it nice and warm and cozy for this chilly day. What really makes a difference in my opinion is before we walked out we were asked how everything was and what we ordered and our thoughts and the gentleman really seemed to care what we had to say. such a breath a fresh air! I had a rude service experience, and I think it was the manager. I ordered and paid for a sub, but there is no order management system in this place, so my order disappeared. Only when I asked where my sandwich was did the manager realize he had blown it and directed staff to make it. I had already been waiting some time, and the manager offered no apology at all. So I told him I wanted my money back, not the sandwich. Still no apology. Then he gruffly laid the cash on the counter and muttered. "there you go." This guy simply shouldn't be dealing with customers. He has no manners. I am really sad to write this review. The sausage pizza was too sweet and the caprese salad had only one slice of mozzarella. The water jug had no water and we had to ask a couple times for it to get refilled. Rosalia's Deli has never let me down. I usually stop in to order a few sandwiches to-go (usually prosciutto/mozz. or roast beef) and they've always been great. Last time, I tried their Italian beef for the first time and it was excellent. I usually only get Italian beefs from traditional beef and hot dog joints, but was pleased to find that Rosalia's offers a tasty option. I don't think I could recommend a traditional sandwich/sub place in Elmhurst over Rosalia's Deli. I've tried several of their wood-oven pizzas and they have all been excellent. read more

Our favorite place for wood fired pizza! The grilled veggie pizza is amazing, and they always have a rotating "pizza of the day" on their menu if you want to try something new. Not a very friendly place - kinda walked in and had to figure out how things work here while standing just inside the door. Guy behind a counter to the left just gave us the once over when we walked in and turned the other way - eventually we figured out he was the pizza maker guy and there must be an oven somewhere over there - to the right 2 quiet grim-faced girls were behind normal stocked deli cases filled with meats and cookies and another with gelato (freezer was broken) and straight ahead were a bunch of tables and chairs with shelves behind them stocked with pastas and olive oils and at a little space at the left end stood a silent, sour faced girl at the cash register. Not one of the 4 even acknowledged us. Weird. Like, do they seat you, who do you place an order with, are there menus? After a couple minutes I spotted paper menus by the cashier girl and helped myself to 2; we each grabbed a chair and sat down to read them and decide. Assumed correctly that we ordered from the cashier. $25 got me a BLT panini, my daughter a 10" cheese pizza and 2 bottled sweet teas. Food was okay. Won't be back. Lately, I have been eating pizza around Chicago and the burbs, to find the best and most authentic example of true Italian wood-fired pizza. I've tried Bricks in Lombard, which was very good and Neo in Naperville, which fell flat on it's face (crust was not crispy). D.O.C. on the North side was too cheesy, but Coalfire on Grand (Margarita with prosciutto only) comes a close second to Rosalia's Deli. This little deli, which is attached to Angelo's Restaurant, puts out the best and most authentic Italian style pizza you can get in Chicago-land or maybe even America. I have lived in Italy for nearly 15 years and have had pizza in every city, including Napoli, and Rosalia and her husband (who crafted our pizzas today), produces a pizza that is truly wonderful!!! The crust is perfect, crunchy on the perimeter and not soggy, but firm in the inner areas. He even lifted the pizzas above his head to check the crust on the bottom to ensure it was cooked properly. The sauce was just perfect and the other ingredients are extremely fresh. To me, a pizza should have crispy crust and fresh tasting ingredients that you can actually taste and enjoy, and these people do it just right, in their small wood-burning oven! This location should be used to judge all other pizzerias around. TRULY AMAZING!!! read more
