Rosalva is on the hillside between Lake ArrowHead and Big Bear Lake. Stumbled upon this gem next to the infamous pizza place. Both have a shared parking lot and has extra parking left side the next block of the place so if you can't find parking. Go further west! The waiting could be long as the place has limited seatings but it's a nice family restaurant owned by Rosalva .. Loved the steak ranchero combo plate for 13.99 and the shrimp/lobster tacos for 5$ each was yummy! The gf was raving all day. And here I am, raving about their margarita cup.. worth the price of 8$ (there is happy hour! But only on certain days and times). What I didn't like was the sketchy restroom downstairs. For a big restaurant, the restroom is shared underneath the sketchy wooden stairs that could be a hazardous for strollers and seniors. There is an open patio down there with a storage space.. maybe a remodel for a bigger bathroom could be nice. Great service and nice food. read more

Rosalva's was delicious for lunch! We enjoyed the environment as well as the food. We ordered tacos and fajitas. The fajitas came out sizzling on a cast-iron skillet and a tacos were served on double tortillas open faced because of all the delicious goodness inside of them. The service was quick and ordering was simple. We sat indoors to enjoy our food though, they have outdoor seating as well. As I said, great food and great environment, thank you! read more

We found this little gem on accident. We had meant to try the pizza shop next door and decided against it when we learned that the wait was 2 hours. We were so pleasantly surprised by Rosalva's! Come here for authentic, delicious Mexican food while you're in the area. It is a tiny spot with indoor and outdoor seating if it hasn't snowed. The food here is absolutely delicious. My husband loved the cheese enchiladas and I thoroughly enjoyed my molcajete. I am a big fan of this dish and have to say this is top 3 for flavor and top 2 for portion size. It is enough for 2 people at least. The salsa it's cooked in is really flavorful. The best fajitas in all the land! Huge portion on the combo fajita plate. After eating at Rosalvas, no other fajitas can live up to the ones served here. Loved their Asada. Really easy for the carne asadas to come out dry but loved that it tasted fresh and juicy. We got the carne asada plate and the asada dry burrito with no beans, both were yum but the Asada plate was better! It's pet friendly on the patio but your pup needs to stay on the floor (no lap rule!). Ladies were super nice and attentive despite how busy it was. Get both green and red sauce. :) read more

Awesome Mexican Food at Lake Arrowhead! I know that they are in SkyForest... But I am staying in Arrowhead. The staff is sweet and go out of their way to make you feel at home. They have a great Patio Surrounded by Tall Pine Trees all around... providing fantastic shade as you enjoy your meal in the Mountain Outdoors. I enjoyed their breakfast Chorizo and Eggs, their Coffee was bright and yummy and their chips and salsa were DEEELICIOUS! I also had a Carne Asada Taco... It comes with their Green Salsa -- which I did not know, as I am usually not a great fan of green Salsa... but Boy, Oh, Boy, This TACO WAS GOOOOOOOD! That was some yummy green salsa on that CARNE ASADA TAAAAACO! I will come back here for their other offerings... just give it some time ; ). haha read more

AMAZING! This is by far the best Mexican food I've ever had in California. The carne asada was big chunks and flavorful. We ordered a carne asada wet burrito we shared it between 2 people. Update: I have been to RosaIva's a few times since my previous reviews. For the most part thing have been better lately. The food has been better and the staff has been more on top of their game. The prices have increased lately but what place hasn't ? I have been a regular at this restaurant. It used to be Hortencia's. Now that the name has changed the problem is that They keep screwing up on my orders. Twice in a row I've ordered a three item combo and upgraded to a chicken enchilada. Every time the kitchen never reads the ticket and always makes a cheese enchilada. Now I have to wait for the proper meal. On top of that when I finally got the chicken and it was 75% cheese and 25% chicken. Since they charge an up charge for the chicken you would think they would do it right but they have not gotten their act together yet. I sincerely hope the owner and Kitchen happens to read this. I will still give them another chance and hope for the best. All I want is the proper dish served hot the first time and with a decent amount of chicken inside of the enchilada. If you keep on skimping on the good stuff it's going to cost you in the long run! Get it right the first time. read more

Today, I wanted to take the kids up to Santa's Village as a surprise. But I guess it snowed so hard in the morning that they closed the park down as well as all the surrounding areas by the time we got up there. We stopped by this little Mexican restaurant as the OPEN sign was lit up. The owner came out telling us that they are actually not open as none of his workers showed up due to being snowed in. But he told us that he is able to serve us only what is on the happy hour menu. We had no choice but to eat here as everything was closed around the area! A great gesture on his end as he did not need to serve us at all! FOOD WAS GREAT BTW!!!! So we enjoy the rest of the day just hanging out at this restaurant as they have a private patio area that was just dumped with fresh powder!!! read more

The food was good , we had a good lunch . The place was not really busy , I counted 5 tables were eating . The hostess/ waitress was very pleasant when we sat down and ordered. Once we were finished with our lunch , our waitress ignored us completely . We asked for the check 3 times. We finally got up from the table and stood at the counter to pay our tab. Our waitress rudely said " hey guys , hold on!" Again this is another sign of poor customer service and no management . The place was not that busy at all. The ambiance of the place is cute . My wife and I are regulars at Rosalva's (usually once each week). The meals are reliably good as is the service--especially if Rosalva herself serves you. (I think her husband is the cook.) As reported in other reviews, the salsa is superb, and the servings are both tasty abundant (we've taken to ordering less than 2 full meals, and even then we sometimes are rewarded with leftovers to take home). Regarding the parking, which is tricky because one must back out onto the busy highway. My suggestion: continue east past the restaurant about 50 yards and park in that large lot, then walk back to the restaurant; it's much safer and easier. If the weather is not too cool, I recommend sitting outside where you can enjoy the aroma and visual beauty of the trees. Enjoy your meal and please say "Hola" to Rosalva! read more

We were visiting the area from Orange County a few weeks ago and stopped here for a to go order. Everything is delicious, the refried beans and the shredded beef were excellent. The nachos are amazing, I believe we ordered the carne asada. We also ordered very generous margaritas to go. They are located next to a popular pizza place and parking is limited so be prepared.
