We stayed off season, so we got what I consider to be a totally fair rate! The room is clean, well stocked (fridge, microwave, glasses, nice TV, plenty of storage, deck with STUNNING view, plenty of parking). The rooms are slightly aged but wearing well. They don't smell of smoke (huge benefit!). The room we stayed in (double queen with super comfy beds and clean sheets and bedding) is past the main resort, up on the hillside. It actually overlooks the bay and the hotel, which is very pretty with all of the christmas lights up. I have seen the prices for the height of the season prices and I, frankly, would not pay those for these rooms- however, the off season price we paid was just right- and its location adjacent to the State park and only 5-10 minutes from East Sound was perfection. The staff graciously allowed us an early check in on this visit which was greatly appreciated after lining up for the ferry at 5:45am! We took a nap in the afternoon and had plenty of day to spare! There was an extra blanket, two robes, and pillow in the closet. Plenty of towels as well. We didn't need them as the heat works just fine, but it's nice to know they were available. The beds were SO comfy! We slept very well, with the sound of the waves and the wind to lull us to sleep, and we didn't hear the other guests at all. We did not try the restaurant or visit the main hotel much, but we were very satisfied with our stay and would come back again! read more

Old, historical, and right on the water...one of the last of its kind. The Rosario is a great way to do the San Juans, original style. Bonus: the local deer are so tame that they'll eat apples out of your hand. And the Salmon BBQs at the hotel are pretty amazing. read more

We stayed for 2 nights in the Hillside 2 bedroom (each with King) suite and it was gorgeous. Looked so much nicer than the other units. Lovely landscaping, stacked stone entrances and this specific set of suites looked newer to me. The kitchen was great, the beds were soft. Nice big tub and the view was amazing. It was a bit of a hike to the main lodge (mansion) for food and spa, but we didn't mind. The food was very good and as pricey as you would expect, but hey, you're on a resort, right? I had two spa treatments - massage and pedicure. The massage was ok - not terrible, but just OK and the lady who did the massage was very sweet, but totally new age if you know what I mean. Telling me how much of a warrior I was, etc. I wasn't uncomfortable; I just had a hard time not laughing. The pedicure was fantastic. SErvice was tremendous! They brought lunch down to the spa for me and my family who had been enjoying the swimming pool while I spa'd. I can't wait to go back, but it will be awhile, because our experience with the ferries was so awful!! But that's not Rosario's fault. :) read more

My wife and I stayed in a Hillside King room for 3 nights and loved it. All service-connected personnel were very professional and courteous, with the exception of the check-in rep Jeremy, who was rude and cold and condescending to his co-worker. Room had a killer view of Cascade Bay, clean and comfortable. Right at trailhead to Cascade Lake. The 4 PM upper level piano presentation was spectacular. Rich history here, very close to Moran State Park. Arlita, the housekeeping Supervisor, went above and beyond by lending us her coffee bean grinder during our stay. Overall a true gem. read more

Rosario is worth four stars if you go in eyes open - though one trip will be enough for us. Pros: 1. Unbeatable view. Stay in the Bayside rooms or the Roundhouse to be just a short stroll from the hotel. You can hear the waves from the room. 2. Delicious lounge restaurant. We preferred this less formal option for meals, which is open 3pm on. It has burgers, salads, and pizzas. Friendly staff. 3. Nice grounds. Deer and birds chirping all around. 4. Hotel beds are very comfortable. Cons: 1. WiFi service kept cutting in and out. We expected no cell phone service as the hotel had alerted us. But lack of wifi is not OK at the prices the resort charges. We went to the front desk and they called a tech to reboot the service, but it kept happening the next day. We went to Doe Bay one evening which is just as remote - it managed to have great wifi speed. 2. If you don't stay in a Bayside room or the Roundhouse, you're going to have a long walk to the main resort building. 3. The hotel room outside the bed was pretty spartan and we could hear the neighbors through the walls. 4. The hotel's formal restaurant is elaborate and expensive. The food is good, but it would be nice to have cheaper options for breakfast or lunch. The Cascade restaurant wasn't open when we were there. read more

After reading all the reviews and feeling a little worried about all the little things people were whining about I remembered that I shoot from the hip, and decided to pull the trigger and book a vacation at Rosario last week. Guys, it was awesome. You want to impress, follow my plan here: I flew into seatac and used kenmore air to fly by seaplane straight up to the dock at the resort. They shuttle you over to their lake union location and go from there, it was awesome. A lot of the issues that people have complained about are related to the cheaper hillside rooms. This is your vacation, get something nice! I got the bayside waterfront king room. Not even that pricey. Your Gf doesn't want a cheap guy. Had a deck right over the water, awesome. No issues with noise from neighbors, loved the room, had everything we needed. We slept with only the screen door closed and listened to the ocean all night. Woke up to the seaplanes landing, which is fun to watch. The facilities obviously are being renovated in places. But it's pretty isolated. The food was amazing and so was the service. Best waiter was Bob, he was the man. We tried a bunch of different dishes over the stay, loved them all. They use local ingredients and put care into the product. I'm picky and so is my girlfriend, but we were more than satisfied. I signed the Gf up for a massage in the spa. She said she loved it so that's all I can report. The facility seemed nice, clean, and fancy. The pool area is good and the biggest plus is the exclusion of kids. It's right on the porch by the ocean. Great view. The set up isn't super luxurious or anything but totally adequate. Overall this is a great home base to launch adventures all over the island. I took the Gf on a bi plane tour (awesome) hiked around the state park (very cool sights, lookouts, and water falls), went into East Sound and explored the shops, and wondered around the island eating at restaurants. Bottom line: if you want to be the man like I was, seaplane in directly to the resort and rent a car from orcas island car rental company. They dropped off a convertible right at the mansion for me and picked it up from the ferry dock days later. Very easy. Don't cheap out on your room, get something close to the mansion with a waterfront view. Sign your lady up for a spa treatment, it's only $100 to $150. I timed it up with the happy hour so I was plenty entertained on my own while she got massaged. There are other choices on the island, but this one probably won't let you down. read more

our stay was in the off season, Mid November 2o11. we enjoyed watching the dear in the yard trim the grass each night, the view of the heavens, is well, heavenly. we found the staff to be more than helpful, there were one or two desk personnel who were less than happy, but that is to be expected everywhere. we enjoyed to the pool and the hot tub. both were in excellent condition. our room (1313 Skagit) was excellent. warm & cozy. the wifi is less than spectacular, and you will probably not get any cell service, but who cares, your on vacation. the food was excellent breakfast // lunch // dinner. especially the Ribeye & hamburger. service in the dining room was pleasant. we briefly spoke with the owners who wished us well ( and who we are supremely jealous of, such a nice place to own!) we will be making return reservations soon! we also caught a couple of Ghosts in a few pics we took, orbs in one of the 2nd floor closet, well at least i like to think they're ghosts :) read more

We stayed in our sailboat, at the Marina. Even though I screwed up the dates, and reserved a month past when we were going to be there, they were able to find room for us. It's beautiful there, though I feel like many of the buildings could do with an update. The staff, at every part of the resort were friendly, kind and helpful. Really, I felt like they were some of the best people we met on our trip. We ate at the grill- the burgers were excellent. I appreciate that we were able to take our dogs with us- to the grill and around the property. I went to the spa both days that we were there. There is a tiny, beautiful saltwater lap pool, and a decent whirlpool. The sauna is drafty and needs a new door. I was there on a Tuesday and Wednesday, and mostly had the place to myself. I had a hot stone massage. It was, no hyperbole, the best massage of my life. Nancy is amazing. There are a few little problems with Rosario. First- there are no grocery stores nearby, so you are at the mercy of Rosario's little general store. A bottle of shampoo here costs $6.89, and it's Herbal Essence. Ugh. Secondly, if your boat is docked on the south side of the plane dock, or moored up to a ball, you are at the mercy of some rocking waves. On the south side of the plane dock, you can expect that you'll be bumping your fenders into the dock, or worse. We watched a sailboat take on a fair bit of damage. And finally, the adult pool (it's so great to have a pool without screaming kids), has a terrible drink selection. They could do with some real cocktails. read more

This review is just for the historical music slide show: The show was recommended to my boyfriend and I by the bed and breakfast we stayed at and we thought it would be a good way to learn a little more about Orcas Island. For a free show, it was much longer than I expected. The photos and stories were interesting enough, but I thought it was a little wierd that Christopher Peacock would run up to play the piano, then shout from above. Couldn't they have gotten more than one person involved so they wouldn't have to do that? The little museum around the show area wasn't too exciting. It made more sense after the show. It was a decent free show. Funny side note: our bed and breakfast said they would provide cd's of local island artists. After we got back, we noticed every single cd was from Christopher Peacock: is he the only local island artist? haha. The grounds seemed nice. My boyfriend and I thought the individual cabins would have been cool. Also, everyone who worked here was really nice. read more

I attended a wedding here & every aspect of the wedding was perfect. I couldn't have picked a better location with phenomenal view. The dinner was great & ceremony was beautiful with 180 degree views. When I woke up on Sunday morning I was disappointed that there was no where to eat breakfast or get a cup of coffee, I had to go to the gas station to get anything. Everything including the front desk was closed. I do need to say they got us in to our room early, but the check in time is 4pm-this seems unreasonable to me when you're traveling from anywhere to get there. The shop on site was great, wished there was more seating, but they were full when we went down at 3pm. Overall an amazing place, we'll definitely be back. read more

What a beautiful, interesting, historic place. The house was built by a shipbuilder, and it's so interesting to see the way that comes out in the details and furnishings. Full disclosure- we did not stay here but stopped in to look around and have lunch on the poolside deck overlooking the ocean. The food, drinks, and atmosphere were amazing. I tried the green chile bisque at the recommendation of the server, and it was quite possibly the best soup I've ever had (and most unique). Flavorful but not too spicy, and perfect with toasted bread. The only reason our experience doesn't get five stars is the presentation of the food. Yes, we were on a pool deck and I wasn't expecting glass tableware or breakable plates, but the sandwiches were served in to-go black plastic containers! For such a classy resort, you would think they could come up with some nicer plastic dishes or at least something reusable or compostable that isn't going straight into a landfill when we're done. read more

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and were not very impressed that this so-called "resort". The room itself was outdated, and not in a cute way. Our ancient toilet had a plunger next to it and also a flashlight in the dresser drawers....not a good sign! The shower had stains all over it and cheap shower curtain hooks that looked like they came from the dollar tree. We also figured out that the shower temps in ours were backwards: turn it to cold if you want hot water. It looked more like a basic hotel room....not what we were expecting considering the price. The room was also very stuffy and hot; no AC. The mansion pool is very nice (quiet pool only-except specific "family" times) and the museum too. It's kind of hard to navigate through the pool area to figure out where everything is. The sauna is hidden near the big indoor pool. We visited the spa; I got a facial and he got a massage. We both had a great experience with that although prices are very steep. Check in is at 4 pm and check out at 11 am. The process of checking in/out went smoothly. If we were to visit the island again, I would stay somewhere else. read more

I don't even know where to start with Rosario! My wife and I got married there this past weekend, but we have been working with them for over a year on our wedding. We had a large guest list of nearly 200 people, a weekend long of events (including a rehearsal dinner that included all 200 of our guests), many moving parts, and even more requests and needs and Jolene and Lori and the entire Rosario staff exceeded our expectations. Rosario is still "recovering" if you will from the economic down turn and the new ownership has saved this beautiful place and is in the process of turning Rosario into a top notch resort. While there are sure to be some growing pains with that - and there were for us - Rosario staff made up for it in effort, cheerfulness, and willingness to go the extra mile. The setting is of course unmatched, and beautiful and Rosario's food both catering and its restaurants is amazing. I am excited to see the resort continue to grow and evolve and become even better, but I still love it the way it is! We plan to come back for many years for anniversaries and other trips. Every single person at our wedding raved about the service and the food and everything in between. We can't thank them enough for making our special weekend go off with out a hitch. I could seriously go on and on and on....but really you should just check the place out for yourself and not just for weddings but for the perfect San Juan Islands getaway. read more

We stayed in their refurbished residential condo which was amazing. Tastefully decorated with William-Sonoma Home style furniture. We were in number 1702 which must have the best view in Rosario Harbor. All room have French doors which open onto a balcony which overlooks the harbor. Quiet location up the hill from the inn. Did not have a chance to check out the new on-site restaurant, The Quilted Pig, but everyone else was raving about it. read more

Just spent 5 nights with my wife of 38 years at Rosario's and it was awesome. Room was large, with full kitchenette, 2 coffee makers , completely furnished. The spa at Rosario's is the trifecta hot tube, salt water lap pool, and sauna. Food at both the lounge and the dining room was excellent. All the servers, waiters and bartenders were completely awesome even though they were slammed. Highly recommended! read more

The marina remodel is wonderful and staff very helpful. We were looking forward to dinner at the Mansion but our group of four were all disappointed in our meals the salads were impossible to eat from the vinegar flavor. Also the ribs were extremely full of vinegar taste that ruined the bbq flavor. The view is incredible! read more

Rosario has never hit on all pistons, but still a beautiful spot. The cafe at the Marina is nicer than it used to be and puts out ok food and drinks. It's all about the setting and nothing that the average foods will detract from abounding nature. read more

We recently attended a friend's wedding at Rosario Resort. Overall, the bad outweighed the good for me, unfortunately. Rosario required a minimum two-night stay which wasn't ideal, but it's not the worst thing that's ever happened. We ended up sharing a suite with two other couples, as their prices are pretty expensive! The suite was pretty clean, but there was food left in the fridge and some trash on the patio when we arrived. Also, we were in a building that didn't have the building number (address) on the structure, so we had to drive around at night in the pitch black on these steeps hills and use process of elimination to figure out which building our suite was in. The 6 of us headed to breakfast on Saturday morning at the hotel restaurant. The hostess, without making eye contact, asked how many of us there were and told us the wait "would be a while." We asked her how long and she said, "I don't know but I'll go ask." She walked away and we stood there for 5 or so minutes, with her passing us by and not checking back in with us. Then our friend stopped her and asked if she knew how long the wait would be, and she responded "I can seat you now." It was weird. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but it's hard to get away with those in the customer service industry. Our waiter was really nice but slow and the food wasn't great. We spent the day at the pool, which was nice. We just wish they would have had a bar outside for quick drinks and snacks! They had one waitress serving everyone and she had to go back to the indoor bar every time someone ordered a drink. It seems like it would have been more efficient and the hotel would have made more money had they had a bar outside! They knew a wedding was in town with lots of young people. Like I said, the wedding itself was great - it was on a raised grassy bluff with great views and we were fortunate to have a beautiful day. Then we had champagne and apps on a lower bluff and walked over to another area for dinner and the reception. Like some other Yelpers have commented, the cell service is somewhere between non-existent and bad. Just FYI if this matters to you. The service was disappointing throughout our stay. We still had a fun weekend with our big wedding group, but I'm not sure I'd recommend Rosario to others. read more

The staff at the primary resort bulding were friendly and helpful. And the restaurant has great food and attentive, engaging servers. However, avoid bldg 23, if possible. 1970s room with narrow view. I looked around the resort and saw that numerous rooms in other buildings appeared vacant and asked to upgrade (translation = I want to pay you more $$ for a room with a better view). Return call 20 min later..."it seems that we're sold out and cannot upgrade your room." A: it took the front desk 20 min to determine they were sold out? And B: why are there so many vacant parking spaces? Hmm... decided to deal with room we were dealt and enjoy some wine, beer and snacks on the deck. Until...the maid comes to sweep the deck above us, and despite our "hello!" "People down here!", she/he contines to sweep all the needles and other detritus into our food and drinks! Good times...? Not. UPDATED: I am upping this review by a star because received a hand-written note from the staff apologizing for the disruption on our balcony and offered us a round of drinks in the Moran Lounge. A nice touch which shows they obviously care about their customers, and monitor Yelp. I'd give four stars and say Yay - I'm a fan IF I had stayed in another room. read more

Went there for my honey moon and it was the worst experience. First night the water got shut off so we had to use the spa showers and bathroom that was full of trash and no toilet paper. The front desk lady was the worst costumer servive. She was mean and didn't care about our experience there. The view is amazing from the room but the rooms were old and outdated. The carpet was worn away so mad on edges that the tack strip poke threw and didn't feel good when barefoot. It's not worth the 300 dollar a night price. read more

My husband and I got married at Rosario 15 years ago this month (June) and were excited about returning for our 15-year anniversary celebration. When I booked the reservations the agent said she made a note under our name to make sure they put us in premier room and "properly acknowledged" us upon check-in for our special day. Upon arrival there was no acknowledgement or recognition of our anniversary, nor was anything said or done the entire weekend. It was really disappointing considering we got married there 15 years ago and spent thousands of dollars to hold our wedding at the resort, even a card would have been a thoughtful and appreciated gesture. To make matters worst, they put us in an old, run down, stinky room with stained carpet, decor from the 70's (maybe 80's at best) with loose door handles and a tub falling apart. On a positive note, the view of the harbor and resort was nice. It was clear from the resort grounds, the furnishings in the mansion, the lousy food at the restaurant by the marina and all the outbuildings, that the current management company has really let the place run down, including the service. To top things off, we were overcharged and had to call three times to get it corrected. I think it's safe to say we're going to hold off any future anniversary celebrations at Rosario. Too bad, it was a beautiful place 15 years ago and a historical landmark that deserves upkeep. read more

We stayed here for one night in a Bayside waterfront deluxe suite. The view was gorgeous and it was great having a balcony right over the water. The room was very spacious and had a great seating area for company. The reason I wanted this room was because they had a table for four for playing cards. Plus having that view while enjoying drinks and playing cards was nice. It had a fireplace too for some cozy ambiance. This was a great room especially for the price. The grounds of the resort are lovely for walking around on a nice day. The free museum in the Mansion was interesting if you like historical places. Some of the buildings on the property were closed and looked like they needed to be repaired or torn down. I would have loved to stay more than one night here to have more time to enjoy the other restaurants and pools. This is a great place to come for a relaxing stay and take in all the pretty views on the bay. It was also fun to see all the seaplanes flying in. I hope to be back again.. read more

Have been going to the resort restaurant for over 20 years. Always a treat. The duck dinner my wife ordered was delicious. Unfortunately, my King salmon dinner for $38 was a big disappointment. The portion size was extremely small and raw near the skin. It would be generous to say it was 3 1/2 oz. per my wife who has been in food service for over 20 years. I mentioned it to the waiter who shrugged his shoulders and said nothing. It goes without saying that I cannot recommend the salmon and would think twice about going back. read more

I LOVE that new management is restoring this amazing piece of history. Loved all the old photos everywhere, love the spa renovations, especially the indoor pool. It was so beautiful! We swam in the outdoor pool even though it was overcast, the pool was very warm, and allowed us to stay in for quite awhile. It was so nice to look out at the water from the pool, and yet be shielded from the wind. As I had rented a room, Rosario Spa let my neices and nephew who live on Orcas swim, which I loved, and really made it worth while, and that alone would have brought me back, but we go into the spa and they have Eminence AND Decleor products for sale. (A sure sign to a spa connoisseur, of quality) Loved the swim suits and other things for sale. I thought my room was an exceptional value. $129.00 for a Sunday night, a VERY comfortable bed (and I am very picky), balcony with beautiful water view, HUGE bathroom, quiet, nice I-Pod docking station... -'s, would have liked the TV armoire centered with the bed. Would have been hard for 2 ppl to watch tv... Would have like a night table on both sides of the bed, this room had only 1. (1101) add a mini fridge and microwave (you don't offer room service), and ANY cell reception and I wouldn't ever stay anywhere else on Orcas again.. I want to say again, this is a wonderful place, steeped in history and ambiance. A step back in time, and a breath of fresh air. I worked at Rosario 25 years ago, and I love to see it coming back to what it was. The Spa is certainely without a doubt, the best I have EVER seen it. Rosario will always have a huge place in my heart. REALLY nice stay, thank you so much, Christopher what you and Jay-Linn are doing is amazing, you're doing it just right.... I know you are thinking of Robert Moran would have liked to seen happen there in the back of your mind, and its not only touching, but its brilliant. read more

We spent two days and one night at Rosario Resort. We arrived very early and were very nicely welcomed by Ronda and Joey, who were working behind the desk. We knew the rooms were not going to be ready, but were offered a pass to use the facilities and the pool if we wished to do so. We decided to head out to Moran Park instead and returned in the afternoon. We had booked a Hillside Hearth Suite. The room is very large, with a good size living room, kitchen, with appliances, plates, glassware, silverware, and anything you would need to cook a meal, and a separate bedroom and large bathroom. If you are expecting the Four Seasons, this is not for you, but we found it comfortable and efficient. Our only concern was that the adjoining rooms on both sides had families with kids and they were quite loud during the day, but calmed down in the evening. The bed is very comfortable and there is a pull up couch in the living room which can be used for kids, or a third family member. There were many families and the pool by the marina was filled with kids, but there is a second pool behind the mansion for adults only. Two suggestions: We saw many customers being turned away from getting drinks by the pool, when we were told that the pool bar was open until 5 p.m. The waitress, who was very attentive and friendly, was informing people that last call was at 4:30 p.m. You cannot turn customers away who are giving you revenue, especially at the prices you charge for the accommodations. We are positive this can be fixed. Our second suggestion is that the towels be relocated to the pool area. Having to walk through several hallways inside the spa, to get to a gift shop, only to be greeted inside by a sign stating that you can only have one towel is not appropriate or welcoming. Otherwise our stay was very pleasant and you cannot beat the setting which is very beautiful and secluded. read more

A very nice place. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast & dinner. Both were very good. The view is amazing. We enjoyed the pool(s). We stayed in one of the suites up on the hill, and spent a lot of time exploring the resort. A super good weekend! There were multiple weddings going on (we were not associated with them) so a few of the facilities were occupied from time to time. The museum is very cool and the mansion & lounge is really enjoyable. The little store there had basic snacks and supplies for the room. Overall this is an excellent resort! I deducted one star because for the prices they charge - other than the Mansion itself, the place is a little run down. Not terrible, but the rooms and facades were quite worn out and in need of some TLC. It's sort of maybe part of the charm - but for $300 a night I wasn't expecting it to look like no one has done maintenance for a decade... There are literally crumbling decks, rusted and falling apart railings and gates, and broken concrete everywhere. Just enough to make it look like a resort in decline... Also, parking up at the buildings on the hill can be scarce and there was little enforcement so people regularly double-parked, which occasionally made it hard to find a spot near your building. read more

3.75 stars. The view is 5 stars for sure!!!! The island is a solid 4 Stars. The resort is 3 stars. Very nice, but a little antiquated in their service. I'd say it's more like renting a corporate rental that does have an on site office. We brought 14 family members for my husbands 50th Birthday. This was our third year in a row back for his birthday. I needed some concierge help. They did execute my request to deliver some gift baskets, which I shipped early, to each room upon our arrival. The request was met with some slight annoyed resistance. I was quick to be told there would be an extra charge for this. Which, I totally did not mind paying and in all fairness the persons title that I was forwarded to for the request was not concierge. However, my impression was I was being a large inconvenience and they don't receive many request such as this. All in all it was not a problem, but we had just come directly from The Four Seasons in Seattle. The customer service differences were VAST! Though our condos were spotless upon arrival the housekeeping during our stay was abysmal. It rained a good bit during our stay (Washington, go figure) and our shoes or pants hem would track dirt inside very quickly. Each day the housekeeper would come by and empty trash, trade out towels, make bed and put away dishes we had washed but leave all dirt on very obviously soiled tiled floor & carpet. Our condo had a VERY large bleached area in the middle of the great room carpet. I understand not wanting to have the expense of replacing all the carpet but I was very surprised they didn't just die the area back to match or at least blend a great deal better. Breakfast is delicious. Dinner is above average. Wait staff was very nice! Beds are very comfortable. Furnishings pleasant. Washer/Dryer in our unit was a huge plus. TV's in all 3 of the 2 bedroom units we had were quite small & no HD. I don't watch TV so don't care at all, but the Super Bowl was on while we were there so it mattered heavily to the remainder of our party. Of all the units we've stayed in there the Boathouse is by far my favorite. It's the smallest one we've stayed in but we LOVED it! It was also the only one we've rented with a bath tub (which I'm a SUCKER for!! This one is huge, overlooking water and built for 2) Yes, I would return and plan to next year. I feel the price is fair for what you get. Just don't expect really strong customer service beyond checking you in & out. read more

Rosario resort is the perfect venue for creating lifelong memories of an amazing wedding weekend. Our daughter and son-in-law were married at Rosario in July 2018 and it was an outstanding experience. The resort is small enough that you really feel like it's your place for the weekend and large enough to provide many opportunities for recreation in addition to the wedding festivities. The Point Lawn was a stunning venue for the wedding ceremony, but the beach house lawn would also have been beautiful. A huge added plus is the wonderful back up venue that the music room provides. There's no need to obsessively look at your Weather Channel app to see if it's going to rain because you will have a lovely indoor option if needed. In addition to the absolutely spectacular setting, the ability to settle in for an entire wedding weekend provides everyone the opportunity to connect, play, and enjoy each other. If you're weighing whether or not to have a wedding in town or weekend at Rosario, there really is no contest. Prospective couples/families might notice that the Beach House reception area is a bit dated and could use a remodel. However, in the capable hands of Veronica from Orcas Events and Cindy from The Nest floral design, this space can be transformed into an elegant venue. The bank of glass windows looking out on the bay provide a stunning view and the deck is the perfect place to enjoy a warm summer evening if you'd like to step away from the music and the dancing. The staff at Rosario resort are exceptional. Jolene and Lori provided caring, creative, and can-do help in planning the event. They continually checked-in with us all weekend to see how everything was going. April, the banquet manager, went out of her way to address every request and worked above and beyond expectations with extra touches like moving the flowers from the wedding reception site to decorate tables at the morning breakfast at the mansion. Jesse, the chef, provided a delicious buffet for the wedding and was back the next morning with incredible energy doing everything he could to accommodate our needs at breakfast. The wonderful ladies at the front desk were very helpful and enthusiastic. We felt like they were truly excited to be part of our celebration and made every effort to help us all feel special. Rationally, we know that Rosario is having weddings continuously through the summer, but the hospitality of the resort was so exceptional you felt like your event was the most special wedding of the season. Our daughter and son-in-law were thrilled with their wedding and our guests described their experience as "remarkable," "extraordinary," "spectacular," and "fantastic". This place was amazing. We got the king size bed suite with a jetted tub, which was amazing. The customer service at this place was exquisite, we were never left without reservations or without something to do. The staff goes out of their way to make sure that you are well taken care of. I would definitely recommend eating at the mansion, the food there was delicious. I'm definitely going back to this place again! read more

I purchased the Spa Package and took my boyfriend for the New Year's weekend. We stayed in one of the Hillside suites. It was decent, a bit outdated, but we liked the fact that the bathroom was huge and equipped with his-and-her sinks. The views from all over the resort were breathtaking. On our first night, which happened to be New Year's Eve, we went to the mansion for the seafood buffet, $65/person. It wasn't the best seafood buffet ever, and many of the dishes were of mediocre quality, but we had a good time. We got a couples massage at the spa on one of the days, which was nice and relaxing. What totally ruined our stay, however, was our one brunch experience at the restaurant. On a not-so-busy day, it took them about 20 minutes to seat us, and our server didn't show any interest in serving our table. We had to tell one of the other servers that we needed her at our table as we had been sitting for minutes being ignored while she was busy chatting and laughing with other guests. We had to ask for water and utensils, too. When the food came out, it was partially cold and bland. We asked for salt and pepper. She then asked us in an annoyed tone, "Is there anything else I could bring?" We said no. We never got our salt and pepper, and she never came back until we asked one of her coworkers for the bill! Overall, The Rosario was a decent, expensive experience, and while we're not sure if we want to stay there again in the future, we are definitely NOT coming back to the restaurant! read more

Well... overall disappointed!!! The website paints a much better picture than reality. There are no rooms that are remotely close to the mansion. Plan on a uphill 1/2-3/4 mile walk to the "motel"... rooms were ok with a nice view, but it is NOT part of the "resort". The restaurant was actually pretty good. The food are service was nice. The local town was quaint and the local brewery was very small and "rustic"; but worth going. Now as far as getting around on the island... the local taxi service was prompt but horribly expensive!!! $45 for a 5 mile ride.... crazy. Try rental cars if able or bartering for a lower price. read more

I think Rosario Resort is past it's prime. My wife and I spent two nights here and I don't think I'll ever stay there again. The room was just OK.. the restaurant was just OK... it's not even a 3 Star facility... I would recommend one of the Bed and Breakfasts on Orcas Island and then just a visit to Rosario Resort. read more
