Two days ago, I went to Rosa's Pizza (located by Georgia State University) and ordered a pizza. While eating, I noticed that the toppings were falling off (I was okay with that). Later, I found a bug near the pizza. Today, I went back to the restaurant to request a refund. However, the staff member I spoke to said that I needed to show them the box with the bug inside, and I had a video of it, which they didn't want to see and accept. I threw away the box with the bug as soon as I noticed it. I couldn't return to the restaurant on Monday because it was closed, and on Tuesday, I was busy. Now, on Wednesday, they are telling me that I can't get a refund because I don't have the box with the bug in it. Do they expect me to keep the box with the bug in it for two days? This is unacceptable, and absolutely disgusting. The person who I was talking to didn't show any remorse and didn't apologize for the incident instead, he kept harping about the pizza box the bug was in. I would like to support the black-owned business however, this business was very unprofessional and unapologetic. I hope nobody experience what I experience. 1/5 read more

The closest pizza I have had to NYC since I moved here from the north. It's what you expect from a northern style slice. It is thin, gooey, and has plenty of sauce. Made a quick pit stop on my way home to get a slice of pizza. I will admit that I am a pizza "snob" (in the best possible way LOL). Honestly, I have more than one Yelp rant about the beauty of authentic New York style pizza and Rosa's comes close for Atlanta. Since I'm recently returning from a trip home and was in NYC, there are still some things that are missing for me and its glaring. Super sorry to say, believe me...this hurts, but true. For example, I need the crispy crust that should occur after reheating that single cheese slice. Today's slice was thin, looked crispy, but too soggy for my taste. Please, also give me the fresh mozzarella--it matters. That will make the slice properly greasy, not "greasy" greasy...hahaha, there's a difference. Plus, the sauce has to be the boss...which apparently happens with the right combination of tomatoes and seasonings (according to my favorite pizza spot in NYC) which happens to have the best sauce I've tasted. I won't name the place here, but refer to my other reviews. Anyway, I was happy-ish after my pizza pit stop and the folks here are super nice. Thank you Rosa's for selling pizza "by the slice" and for making one of the closest versions of a traditional New York style pie that I've found in ATL. A few tweaks would really set this pizza off, but it may not be worth it in the South since there are just so many alternatives. I realize a lot of my fellow Northerners, and specifically New Yorkers, have left glowing reviews. Don't hate me and No shade, but we've been away from home too long. Go back and happily eat a few slices (from a great pizza shop, because we know that every NYC pizza place is not banging--be honest LOL). I don't get it. With all the glowing reviews, I expected more. I haven't eaten a lot of NY-style pizza, definitely not in NY anyway, so I'm no connoisseur, but if this is the best NY Style Pizza in Atlanta, then I'll stay away from NY-style. We ordered a medium for the two of us to share, with pepperoni and spinach, and a salad. The salad was served in a styrofoam take out container. The portion was large, but the ingredients seemed a little stale... withered greens, chewy cheese, gloppy Italian dressing. It was like a Fellini's salad made with industrial ingredients instead of fresh ones. As for the pizza, the crust was thick and pretty flavorless. The spinach was thawed frozen spinach, so it was chunky and watery and flavorless. The pepperoni was meh. There is limited seating inside, with space for 20 or so if every seat is full. There's a mural of the NY skyline in the back. Most people got their orders to go There's a sign that says "Pizza is like sex, even when it's bad it's still pretty good." I guess so, since I still ate the pizza. But for this kind of experience, I'll stick with Fellini's. read more

Why would anyone defile this deliciousness with mints? Mysteriously, enough customers prefer to overwrite the taste of great pizza by snarfing chocolate-covered mints afterward that the store goes through two bowls of the stuff every day. I'm still savoring the aftertaste of my calzone, which was stuffed with generous heaps of spinach and fresh garlic, for a total price of $6 before tax. ($4.50 for the calzone, 75 cents per topping.) Since the toppings were vegetarian, the guy behind the counter sagely asked if I was vegetarian. I said yes, and he gave me a vegetarian tomato sauce instead of the usual meat-infused sauce. That's a thoughtful touch for which I'm grateful. Even outside of lunch hours (at 3pm, say), you may find the line so long that it doubles back upon itself. Don't fret; these folks are pros and will efficiently guide great food onto your plate with celerity. (Can I have some blue cheese with my celerity?) Wheelchair accessibility is the same as much of downtown: you don't have to go up or down stairs, but the door is heavy and not automatic or button-activated. Fortunately, the place is usually busy enough that there'll be someone right inside who will notice you and grab the door. For downtown and midtown workers, there's even a delivery option--sort of. Call in your order and tell them you'll be driving up. Since parking on Broad Street is illegal from 4pm to 6pm, they'll meet you at your car, curbside, so you can take home some love from Rosa's and show your family why your dress shirts keep coming home with pizza stains. I stopped in during a recent business trip to Atlanta, and figured I was in for something good based on the line - which reached out the door. Don't let that scare you off, though. They've got their operation perfected, and you'll probably be in and out within about five minutes - with a couple slices of awesome pizza for just a few bucks. You'll walk up to the counter, tell them what topping(s) you want on your slice, and off they go. The slices are prepared and pre-cut, will be loaded on a tray and sent through the oven... ready by the time you've paid at the register. Man please !! I have been going to Rosa's since 1992. A lot of the same people working there. Food is very good and consistent. Pizza has nice crust, sauce, cheese etc. calzones have plenty of toppings. The sausage rolls are crazy good ( a little spice to them ). Prices are reasonable for quality of food. Operating hours are limited so check the schedule before you go and be flexible because seating is at a premium. When available the Italian ice is delicious. read more

I love coming to Rosa's Pizza for lunch during the week! Being smack dab in the middle of the George State University campus, Rosa's gets slammed during lunch hours. I wouldn't worry too much about the line because it goes by pretty fast. Rosa's serves ginormous slices of New York style pizza for just $2.20 no less! You can't get much better than that. If you want more than just cheese or one topping, you can get additional toppings for half a dollar. I believe they also have a great lunch special: two slices and a drink for just under seven dollars! There's really nothing to complain about. I am a true PIZZA LOVER!!! So I'm very particular about my pizza. This was my first taste of this restaurant, and I give a star for all the following: 1 - Simple ordering process with a versatile menu when it comes to sizes and toppings. 2 - Not too long of a wait, especially for a pick up order. 3 - The presentation was amazing, you can clearly see each topping, as opposed to only a few toppings being covered in cheese. 4 - Fresh ingredients, especially the spinach. It didn't taste like store or freezer bought, but actually fresh cut seasoned and sautéed ingredients. Now I only did 5 stars instead of 4 for two reasons. First, the crust was a little folded in one side, and I believe that because of the placement in the box, nothing major. The second reason is that the crust was a little softer and moister/wet like than preferred. This could have been from the car travel, or the amount of ingredients, now way to truly tell. I'm not the biggest fan of pizza- but ever so often, I'll get a taste for it. I've been working in the area for over 4 years and never tried Rosa's eventho it's literally two minutes from my office. I'm now kicking myself for all the years I've wasted not patronizing this establishment. They have a deal where you get two slices and a drink for $6.75 so my coworker and I split that because neither of us were really hungry and I didn't want to be too disappointed if the pizza wasn't that great. We both got back to the office and after eating the pizza agreed that we should've gotten out own combos because one slice wasn't enough! Went back the next day and got our own combos and the pizza was even better than the day before. Definitely a fan! The place is very small and cramped- which is why I deducted one star but they get you in and out. You place your order as you walk in the door and they get your pizza in the oven and it's usually less than a 5 minute wait from the time you pay, till the time your pizza is ready. There is a small sitting area in the back, but I doubt I'll ever eat in. Great slices , have been going here since 2007 worked at Stats and found Rosa's by accident on a break one day and have been coming back ever since . I have ordered slices and/or whole pies and have never been disappointed . New York slices are actually crispy on the bottom and hot when handed over , spinach and spicy sausage with extra cheese is my favorite the spinach has garlic in it mmmm . Be prepared to tell them your order when you walk through the door if you don't you may get shot a look , you snooze you loose . They will gladly go to the person behind you if you need more time to scope out the menu ? The 2 slice one topping special w/ drink is a favorite to many while some of us have other Ideas . Lunch crowd can be a bit of madhouse you walk in and get in line be prepared to yell out your order , have cash in hand and step to the side . If the seating area is full there is extra seating in the back and down the stairs . I've been here off and on a few times over the years and let me tell you the quality and consistency has not changed one bit. The best NY pizza I've had in ATL period! There's a lot of imitators when it comes to NY pizza but these guys are the genuine article. Owners are from NY and I've heard they even ship water straight from NY for making the dough, now that's a nice touch! It makes a difference. The place has a look, feel and aura of the pizzerias I went to as a kid up north. The pizza does not disappoint. You can taste the quality in the sauce and ingredients and the crust; it just reminds you of home. So good! They sell by the slice too, 1 topping for about $2.60, 2-top about $3.10. Not the cheapest, but its so worth it! The slices are HUGE and they are not stingy with the toppings, they really pile them on. Gotta love that!! And they have a lot of toppings to choose from as well, so there's something for everybody. Next, I must try their calzones, I bet they're good as well. My only regret is that I don't live close enough to come here on a regular basis. But if you're a GSU student or work downtown, I highly recommend at least trying this spot out. Let me start off by saying I've learned that I must not be a fan of NY style pizza. So, I guess if that's what you like, come here. It looks like NY on the inside, it's kinda dingy like NY, has that NYC feel. They don't wear gloves. They take the trash out, then wipe down tables, without a hand wash- and they don't wear gloves. Once I ordered a large pizza from Rosa's before a Radiohead concert, carrying it all the way from my office to my parking garage, about a quarter-mile away. The scent of charred crust, wilting spinach and olives wafted from the box, catching the attention of many panhandlers. "Gimme somma that pizza!" "You gon' gimme a quarter or a slice-a yo' pizza?" "Pizza!" "PIZZAAAAAAA!" I was almost as excited about trying the strong-smelling pie as I was to reach the safety of my car. More than the quality and taste of the pizza, I remember the friendly staff. I came to the store cashless, after placing an order via phone, unaware that Rosa's doesn't accept cards. The woman at the counter allowed me to go ahead and take the food, paying for it the next morning. A recent reason why I've grown to adore Rosa's is the Italian ice. For $2.25, patrons receive a large cup of mango, cherry or rainbow refreshing goodness--half the price of smaller, heavier froyo portions down the street. I'm a huge fan of the mango flavor, while I wince at the rocket pop-like rainbow. Plus, the ice doesn't emit a strong odor, causing downtown's "disadvantaged population" to supplicate for a bite. read more

NY corner slice review: Finally, a place that sells "NY Style Pizza" that actually comes close to tasting like it! I think the quality has recently slipped, but still pretty good. Rosa's has a great crust although a little thick on the end crust, good zesty sauce, and the cheese pulls nicely and isn't piled high and deep (yes...you are actually SUPPOSED to taste the sauce!). Atlanta is a fat kid's town, meaning that it is among the top cities when it comes to world class food. Rosa's Pizza doesn't skip out on this notation. This is pretty much New York style pizza without the New York price. Despite the short hours and the fact that they are closed on Sundays this is the place to go if you are a GSU student, tourist, or someone working downtown looking for a stomach stuffing meal. There are plenty of choices when it comes to pizza, including gluten free slices or whole. The slice pizza is rare in a way that you can choose your own toppings in addition to having extra cheese. I tried Sausage & Mushrooms and Spinach and Anchovies, both with extra cheese. The extra cheese adds pizzazz and makes the pizza look less bland and boring as well as bring out the excitement in the flavor. The dough is thin and tasty but also reminds you of Costco pizza in a way that it is not too thick, not too thin. They also give you fountain drinks with free refills if you eat at the restaurant as well as bottled drinks. The 2-slice one topping pizza with drink and the lasagna with drink for $6.50 is a deal that can't be beat and will last you for 1/2 a day. Rosa's Pizza also serves Calzones, Hot Subs, Sausage Rolls, salads, cheese cakes and cannoli. They do deliver but unlike most pizza places Rosa's Pizza also offers curbside service from 3:00 to 6:00 pm and caters for select events. It is quite busy during lunch hours but the line moves quick but there is very limited seating outside, the bathrooms are downstairs to your right and cell phone service inside is somewhat nonexistent and spotty. You can also eat outside if you would like. Rosa's Pizza is a walk away from Woodruff Park, Peachtree Street, Georgia State University and the Atlanta Streetcar. If you are driving downtown make sure you watch where you park. Seriously, this is the best pizza in Atlanta by miles. Mellow Mushroom is alright, and Fellini's is pretty good (although the Decatur location has hit the skids hard lately), but Rosa's is the real deal. Stand in line and get served by two big sweaty italian dudes who couldn't be more awesomely cliche if they were named Tony and Sal. Go ahead and get the combo, if you can't finish the first slice, save the second for later. Add your own oregano and such and get out, or eat in the back. The one downside to Rosa's is also an upside - its proximity to Georgia State. I've spent a bit of time wishing bloody hungry murder on the bastards that brought a couple slices of pepperoni into a long lecture. Maybe it's just me, but I don't mind waiting in a long line nearly as much when it's clear that the operation is moving as swiftly and efficiently as possible. Actually, I don't think it's just me, because everybody seemed to be smiling in this line. A counter full of people waiting for something cheerfully. Remarkable. I smushed my way to the back of the line at prime lunch hour, and within a minute, a friendly voice called to me "you're next, dear." Almost everyone was ordering the lunch combo of two slices with one topping each and a drink, so I did the same. Lots of toppings but not too many to choose from, and nothing so freakish that you get distracted from the fact that ultimately, what you want is a piece of pizza here. While I waited to pay, my slices were topped and baked to order, fresh out of the oven once I reached the register. They packed the pizza in a perfectly sized box, I paid $5.50 exact change (tax included), sprinkled parmesan and pepper flakes, got my drink, and was on my way. I give this place four instead of five stars for the exact same reason as many other reviewers: location and hours. If you work 9-5 and don't work right in downtown, there's practically no way to eat at Rosa's except on a day off. The absolutely delicious pizzas defy my careful inspection--I actually have a hard time figuring out why it's so good. Is it the crust, the sauce, the toppings, the way it's baked, or what? Usually this is very easy to figure out at most restaurants. Before I can decide I've already wolfed down half a slice and still mystified. The crust is thin but not charred, stays pliable and chewy; toppings are many and good quality, but no gourmet type stuff is offered, the pizza does not get soggy at all even when loaded. Above all, it seems impossibly simple. And they do it all in a tiny area, with slice (rarely pie) orders coming at sonic speed. This is some magical stuff that myriad pizzerias try to duplicate and fall short. Which as I enjoy my pizza frustrates me even more because I can only eat at this magical place about three times a year. Favorite topping is the garlic by far. Several other places in Atlanta offer real garlic toppings as well, but here they put a lot and the intense flavor drive me out of my mind! I forgot to mention, you are expected to select all your toppings--all slices come with just cheese by default. Because of their operation style and how busy it gets, you might want to keep an eye on your pizza as they add the toppings--they got my toppings wrong a couple times. However, I had to try a place that Kit F. will give five stars. I work on the north end of downtown so after convincing my peeps that MARTA won't be that bad and no we don't have time to walk, we find ourselves on Broad street Friday at noon. Tiffany and I brave the line (Seriously, a lady in a wheelchair ran over my foot!) and wind up with two slices and a soda each for $6. I opted for one spinach one mushroom. Damn! These slices is huge! The spinach was soooooo good. Next I feel like throwing caution to the wind (wind I may, unfortunately, be producing after eating all that cheese :P), I'm getting two slices of spinach. I'd have to say, based on my limited knowledge of da pizza pies, that Rosa's was mighty tasty. Really nice to be outside on a Friday afternoon, too. Broad street is always full of characters. I wouldn't have even reviewed Rosa's had I not thought I had something different to say from the other 77 gleeming Yelp reviews. Like the other Yelpers concur, this is probably your best shot for New York style pizza in Atlanta. I like their cheese slices the best, but the tastiness of their toppings is nothing short of great. We brought in a few pies for our company Christmas party and I have to say, the white pizza really impressed me. There is a smooth layer of ricotta under the upper layer of cheese that was just so unique - it doesn't have the same flavor or consistency of most other ricotta I've had and it utterly smooth.
