It's now a neighborhood pub . The new owner removed everything that was Scottish . Especially the food . Great beer offerings , I had , for food , dirty tots . Not too bad . Just kinda disappointed of what used to be , that is no more .

Dive bars are not my thing... BUT, this is a great spot and there's a reason it is a Portland staple. I've only been here a few times but they'll do you right with proper drinks and food. I was starving and really needed some fish and chips. Great price for a huge portion and their 'side' salad was like an entrée. Hit the spot and then some. A friend I was hanging out with grabbed an order of fries he was eating on the whole hour yet there was still what looked like a whole order of fries left. I was going to offer him some of mine because mine was even more insane!

This is by far the best bar in Portland! The food, the staff and the back patio is amazing!!!! Definitely recommend this place because it's one of my favorite places. My husband and I celebrated our wedding dinner here and the staff and owners made it extra sweet and special and for that I'm always grateful to the Rose & Thistle " The Rat" Thank you for always being a safe space for us.

I love this dive bar! It was fun to poke around the main dining room and the patio. The patio had fun tucked away booths. The veggie quesadillas tasted amazing! They were seasoned perfectly and had small zucchini slices in them, among other veggies. I am coming back for them soon! The service was quick! A server at the sports bra recommended this bar to watch male sports games. I love the Portland small business community

Love the outdoor patio! It must be one of Portland's best kept secrets because I lived in the neighborhood for 18 years and had no idea!!! Figured this was your typical dark English style pub, which it is in the first 2-3 rooms you enter. Keep walking! At the back wall there are stairs, head up and out into the light! A cozy little oasis in the City awaits. There are several different areas on various levels, some with sun, some covered, providing private space for groups or those here just doing their own thing. Waiter was super friendly and efficient. The best! Made us feel so welcomed. Huge kudos for letting our group do individual checks. Was here with a Meetup, and since no one knows each other, it's challenging to do a split check. Rose & Thistle accommodated without even the slightest hesitation. Haven't tried the food since we had dinner down the street prior, but their cocktails, beer and cider all hit the spot. Will definitely be coming back to try their food (fish&chips, burgers) and will bring friends! Thrilled to find a casual and inviting outdoor space right on NE Broadway.

This dive bar is a solid locals spot for drinks and decent food. It's got a beautiful patio area out back where you can take your doggo. They have delicious slushie drinks that I try each time I go!

Clams in a very delicious broth.

Their tap list is extensive but also includes non-standard options. We love to see non-alcoholic beers as well as gluten free beer, cider, cocktails, and other libations. The food menu is great too. There are several items that either come gluten free or can be modified to be. The servers are knowledgeable about the ingredients of the menu items and I feel confident and safe eating here when gluten free is a need for me. They can get pretty crowded, but have several seating options. It was nice out today so outdoor seating was even possible, though it looked like there was a wait. There are tvs in several spots that showcase local sports when possible. There is a kids area and you can sit close while the kids play. Everyone we come in contact with here from servers to hosts are super friendly and welcoming. The food is pretty good. This time around, we shared the garlic Parmesan fries and the chicken wings (buffalo and honey gojuchang sauces). The wings were smoked and moist with good flavor. The fries were alright. More of the aioli would have helped so maybe request extra sauce or get some on the side. The dessert menu has some non-traditional offerings. The highlight for me was the cheesecake. I was assured by a server one time that the chef creates a gluten free cheesecake that rotates on the seasonal dessert menu. The current offering is tiramisu. The coffee chocolate sauce is good and I appreciated the bonus chocolate chip biscotti. The actual cheesecake is decent and I would be excited to try other flavors in the future.

Great rooftop vibe and a fun place to hang out for an afternoon. We ordered a beer flight, and as someone who's had quite a few brewery flights and is pretty open-minded when it comes to beer, this one unfortunately missed the mark for me. Out of the 10 beers, only about 3 were somewhat enjoyable and around 4 were honestly undrinkable. Thankfully, the food redeemed things a bit. We got the pizza with artichoke hearts, mozzarella, ricotta, garlic, and basil. It was super flavorful and the dough was delicious, especially the crust. We also tried the catfish po' boy. It was a little salty, but the fish itself was cooked really well and the sauce was tasty. The spring mix salad with cranberries, slivered almonds, and feta was good too, though I personally would've liked a better toppings-to-lettuce ratio.
