A good modern european style neighborhood restaurant. We decided to try this place after a year of reading all the good reviews on this neighborhood joint and it totally met expectations. We didn't have a reservation on a mid-week dinner but they were able to accommodate us. They were pretty busy when we came so I would recommend reserving a table if you come here during peak dinner hours. They do have outdoor seating as well. We started off with their signature cocktails. They were very delicious, picture worthy, and most importantly tasty. The cocktails are more on the light side and many are mixed with fresh juices which is good for this type of cuisine. They also have stronger vodka shots (the owners are from Belarus) if you want a little more kick too. Bottles of wine are sold at near retail prices and beer is also available. Ti start the meal we ordered a couple of starters of the classic beef tartare and burrata. The burrata was a knockout dish. The starters also came with bread. The toasted sourdough was so good we ordered another couple of slices. For mains I had the seafood pasta on one occasion and on another the grilled bowl. The mains are reasonably priced ($15-25) and are quite filling. The seafood pasta was packed with different kinds of shellfish. The grilled bowl had steak on a bed of rice. The rice was a little al dente which honestly is the right texture for the bowl - there's an argument to cooking starches al dente to help with blood sugar. We ended the meal with a shot or two Of their craft infused vodka shots (currently cherry and cranberry flavored). The service is great. They are attentive but not hovering and since this European style they won't try to push you out of the restaurant. Simply ask for the check when you're ready to go. I have definitely found my husband and I's new go-to dinner spot! Delicious, good portions and affordable !! I had the rice bowl with the ribeye and mushrooms, my husband had the ribeye with red peppers and my friend Caryn had the homemade pasta with seafood. Every single dish was amazing. The ribeye was made so well and mmmm the homemade pasta. I was equally impressed with how much food was included. I'm so tired of paying some crazy price for two small pieces of meat- not at this spot! The only thing I think could have been "bustier" was the wine plate appetizer we ordered. I also ordered two glasses of the bonanza cab which was delicious and they gave me a good pour. I am so thankful to have found such a delicious and affordable restaurant. I am impressed every time I come here by the food, cocktails, and the wonderful service. I've never had to wait for a table, it's pretty spacious and there's a beautiful outdoor patio I love to eat at if the weather is nice. The ambience is so lovely and the music they play is really nice. I've been here many times and my go-to order after trying many things is the rice bowl with ribeye and shiitake mushrooms (comes with an egg on top) and the cocktail number 8 (gin, yuzu, and melon). One of my favorite meals in Austin no doubt. For appetizers I really like the burrata with avocado and tomatoes and I've also tried their beef tartare with truffle mushroom mousse (fantastic) and their tuna tartare (great), and the salmon tartare (also pretty good but I prefer the beef or tuna). I usually order extra bread with the tartare. My best friend ordered the rice croquettes with salmon and wasabi sauce and said they were to die for. For dessert I love their coconut mousse with aloe and matcha cookies (very light and fresh and comes with fresh fruit too) For cocktails I've tried many (numbers 1,2,5,7, and 8) and they are all delicious but number 8 is my absolute favorite. I've come once for lunch and they have a pretty limited menu (I had a fish soup and Caesar salad and a BBQ burger) great prices. I prefer the happy hour menu but lunch was still great! Came for the first time with friends who are regulars. We sat outside on the large front covered patio- tables were nicely spaced and had little loveseats to share or chairs to pull up. The staff was friendly and gave us time to chat and catch up. There was wine by the glass menu $8-12 and a full cocktail menu. I went to Rose Gose with a couple of friends for a dinner/show themed dance that my friend knows about because she is a part of their dance company. I thought that showing up, there would only be very small bites/snacks and some drinks for the show. When we arrived, it was free seating for the show which was great, but unfortunate because we were a big group (there were 6 of us) and we weren't able to sit together. We probably should've gotten there earlier to get a bigger table together, but regardless we all had fun. We all ordered some Sauvignon blanc, which was delicious and refreshing cone I hadn't had wine in forever! I ordered a truffle pepperoni pizza, which was so delicious. It had truffle oil on top and lots of pepperoni, which I love. The dancers were absolutely incredible, and were super fun to watch. Overall it was a great collaboration between the studio and the restaurant, everyone was cheering while having their food and drinks, so it was a lot of fun! read more

We came here to check out their fall brunch, and we were not disappointed! I ordered the Plate #5 and my wife ordered the #3. The steak and fries were very tasty, however I think my wife's plate with the croissant and pates was amazing. Rose Gose is known for their creative drinks too and my Lavender Espresso Tonic and wife's Ice Cream Matcha Melon (which tastes like Melona) were great. The only complaint is that service took a while, but they explained that they weren't prepared for the influx of customers that showed up for their fall brunch that day. Came here for a dinner during restaurant week, and opted to get their 4 course meal, which consisted of their Olives in Kimchi, Rice Croquettes with Salmon and Wasabi Sauce, Pasta Carbonara, and Pavlova with Sorbet. They have their own parking lot that surrounds the restaurant. I ordered an "Aloe, Bergamot, Passionfruit" lemonade. It was rather sweet. The base reminded me of those bottled aloe vera drinks. However, it was carbonated, and had a bit of passionfruit and bergamot sourness incorporated in it, but not enough to overcome the sweetness. I think diluting the sweetness down would help. The portions in their four course meal were large enough to be quite shareable. If I were to reorder, I'd probably just order one of their 4 course meals and choose a few more items from their menu for increased menu coverage. The Kimchi Olives were slightly crunchy, not sour, and had a nice slight saltiness to them, and were not bitter. In a way they were slightly sweet. I'm not exactly sure what variant of green olives they use, but they were large-ish olives with big pits that are relatively easy to clean off. They seem to have been soaked in kimchi juice. They were nice to snack on, and I can see myself ordering them again. The Rice Croquettes came topped with raw salmon, topped with some type of sauce and seasoned nicely what seemed to be salt, toasted rice, seaweed, and other dried herbs. An order of them comes with 4 croquettes. Each croquette is approximately 2-3 bites, so one or two croquettes would be fine as a snack; all four would be reasonably filling. The despite the sauce being labeled as "wasabi sauce", it didn't seem to contain wasabi per lack of a nasal reaction. The wasabi / horseradish sensation appeared to come from the green leaves dispersed within the croquettes themselves. Within each one was rice, cheese, and what seemed to be mustard leaves. Overall, the croquette+salmon combo were tasty and very shareable, although undoubtably a heavy fried and starchy food. The Pasta Carbonara came on warm plates. I felt this pasta was under seasoned and a bit bland. Yes, there were crispy bits of salted pork, but not enough flavor from those or other seasonings. The pasta itself was just fine, creamy, and bland. I would not order this again. The Pavlova with Sorbet was interesting. It was presented with the thick shell on the bottom filled with coconut milk, then topped with lime sorbet, which themselves were straddled with candied orange peel, surrounded by pieces of grapefruit. Honestly, the pavlova (specifically the shell) was very sweet. Of course, they do need to use sugar with the eggs whites to ensure structural integrity of the shell. However, the sweetness tended to overwhelm flavors the chef was likely trying to incorporate into the dessert. For example, I had a difficult time detecting the coconut flavor in the filling while at the restaurant, even though I had surmised it was a coconut milk filling. Only after trying the leftovers at home was I able to confirm the coconut flavor. The sorbet was refreshing, but did little to dilute the sweetness of the shell. If the lime flavor was slightly more forward, and if the candied orange peels were more acidically prominent, I think this would have helped counteract the sweetness. As for the grapefruit, I felt it did not aid in the dessert. You have something sweet which just makes grapefruit taste more bitter. It's similar to drinking milk and eating grapefruit at the same time, albeit less intense. So for this pavlova, definitely tone down the sugar, up the orange and lime flavors, and possibly tweak the filling to make the coconut flavor more apparent. I think that would make the dessert more enjoyable. Service was friendly enough. They cleared plates and brought fresh utensils periodically. Seating wise, there is one half of the restaurant that is more dimly lit. The area by the bar has a warmer feel. read more

After learning that our server was from the Ukraine and noticing the outdoor sign with the slogan "Music, wine, freedom," I couldn't help but do some quick research to learn more about the business story. I soon after learned the original Rosé Gosé was in Minsk, Belarus where the owners had multiple locations; in 2020, they moved the neo bistro concept to Austin, Texas in search of a better life for their family. So, my girlfriends and I went there for brunch, and the "continental" approach offered a variety of optional to varios cravings. From eggs bennie with beef tartare to french toast a la mode, we ordered just about everything. The salmon and eggs bennie over a plate of hashbrowns was my pick, and I highly recommend that dish. I was a little disappointed the Smoked Salmon Rillettes wasn't on the brunch menu, but that's more reason for me to return for lunch/dinner - or even happy hour. The drink prices look great. As mentioned at the beginning of this review, cocktails are a must. If you order any bev, make sure it's cocktail #8. You won't be disappointed with this refreshing yuzu, gin, and melon melody of deliciousness! Service is a bit slower paced, especially for the Americans. This was my first time here. Overall, it wasn't great. I hesitated to give it 3 stars, but for me, 3 stars is a good experience, and 2 is "could be better" and it was really more on that side. On the plus side, the place is cute, everything is neat and the service is attentive. On the not so great site, the food was disappointing. We had the croquette with salmon and that was quite good. But that was the only thing we enjoyed. The fried shrimp and calamari was too breaded, too cooked and dry, for $18 that was a big let down. As for the mussels with cream, the mussels were over cooked and the sauce lacked taste. It was creamy for sure, but it lacked savor, probably needed garlic and herbs or something. At that point, I wasn't going to try anything else and we left. This place is supposed to serve comfort food. I wasn't really comforted :-( This place is supposed to be European, and I'm not exactly sure what really makes it European. This is no F&D (on 53rd), which is very nearby and so much better and more refined. I saw a review comparing this to a French place without having to travel to France and I was wondering what prompted that comment, this place not being remotely French (nor pretending to be). So, obviously, customers are not even sure what type of food they are eating. I think that is a problem. I came here during happy hour and really enjoyed my experience. I got: Roasted eggplant : this was my favorite dish. The eggplant was roasted perfectly, and all the flavors like the chimichurri and yogurt just paired really well together. Beef tartare with truffle mousse: the truffle flavor was lacking and I think the tartare definitely could've used more flavor but overall the ingredients were very fresh and textures were good. Carbonara: the homemade pasta was on point. It was slightly chewy and the carbonara had great flavor. Mussels in cream sauce: I liked the flavor and consistency of the cream sauce. I think the muscles were slightly overcooked, but overall tasty. Apple cocktail: the cocktail was innovative and it had really good flavor. I also felt like it was pretty strong. Came in with a friend out of curiosity and we were totally blown away. Their dishes were quite innovative and delicately balanced in flavors. For starters, we got the eggplant and a fried rice croquette with salmon on top, both of which I highly recommend. The eggplant and yogurt was really smoky and rich while the rice croquettes had wasabi seasoning on top and were do's delicious. For drink, I tried the ice cream matcha melon which was sweet and creamy, but more melon than matcha flavor. For my main dish I got a seafood pasta and the noodles were chewy and tasted house made while the sauce tasted buttery but still light. For dessert, we had the coconut mousse which once again was so unique. The mousse was sweet while the fruit puree at the bottom was tangy and the gelatinous aloe jelly and crunchy matcha cookie added so much complexity texture-wise. The salmon croquettes were rich and the salmon was a bit sweet, which was a nice contrast. The pasta carbonara was very creamy. The pavlova was light and airy. The sorbet was tangy. It was a nice combination. I ordered No. 6 with yuzu and melon. It was very delicious. I also had the No. 10 with tequila, Cointreau, yuzu and lemon juice. It was reminiscent of a margarita but it was very good. The service was a bit slow we arrived at 415pm and didn't finish until 745pm. We had to get the waitress to get our check. A lovely experience for a random Tuesday summer afternoon: my friend and I came around 4pm and were seated promptly. It was fairly empty but service was impeccable. We ordered drinks and 4 starters/shareables and were actually full. Happy Hour is 3-6pm so we got drinks 50% off and food 25%, which is an impeccable deal. We ordered (2 orders of) bread, rice croquettes with smoked salmon and wasabi sauce, roasted pumpkin with goat cheese and honey, and the deep-fried shrimp and calamari with aioli dip. With my No. 3 drink, everything was very good. I personally would've preferred a little more salt on the croquettes, and more roasted taste and texture on the pumpkin. Came on a Saturday evening around 515 pm-ish before the dinner rush came in. We got to choose where we sat and we picked the chairs with more cushions against the window area. As cute as it looked it wasn't ideal because I'm 5'1" and when I sat down in the chair I sunk to where my neck was almost table level. STARTERS AND SALAD: Eggplant with Greek yogurt and chimichurri sauce was delicious. Great flavor and great way to cook an eggplant. Highly recommend MAIN: Rice bowl with ribeye and shitake mushroom - the highlight was the shitake mushroom and the main reason why I got this dish. Ribeye was okay. Let's talk about the rice...not sure what was going on with the rice but it was under cooked. Because of that we didn't order the Poké bowls the second time we ordered more food. Salmon steak with puttanesca sauce - was actually pretty good. I do recommend this dish. Mussles in cream sauce with french fries - by far my favorite dish. The mussels are on the tinier side but the sauce was great with it. Kind of wish I had some bread to soak up all the sauce and eat it because the french fries weren't soaking it up. DRINKS: No. 7 which is their espresso martini and it was delicious. I needed a little alcoholic pick me up. Haha When we ordered more it was getting busier and took a lot longer to get our food than it did when we initially ordered. I had to leave to relieve my brother in law from watching their 2 kids and my 11 month old, plus it was getting to his bedtime. My sister and her friends stuck around. From what I heard later one of the girls went to ask about the food. They eventually brought out the food but did not charge them for it and compted other food along with a complimentary drink coupons for their next visit. Before I left we had waited 30 minutes and not sure how much longer they had to wait. I appreciate the fact that they acknowledged the wait and took it upon themselves to make it up to us. Rose Gose (pronounced as Rose-ay Goes-ay) We loved Rose Gose so much that we came the next today as well. I found Rose Gose very last minute and changed my birthday brunch reservation from another restaurant to here immediately. The aesthetics and menu caught my eye, and I have to say, we were not disappointed. They also recently just opened, so please give them some leeway if the food and drinks take a while to come out. We were waiting for some time, but every new establishment has to find their groove. The food came out fresh and delicious, so waiting and chatting is not a big deal to me. My friends and I ordered tea (oolong), matcha lemonade, salmon hash browns, and eggs benedict. We LOVED the tea, and our waitress was kind enough to continue refilling and replenishing the tea bags. The salmon hash browns were so delicious -- I didn't order this, but I love hash browns so much that I ordered a side of it. I thoroughly enjoyed my salmon eggs benedict. I love how they use brioche bread instead of a biscuit. The one thing I will say is that their Hollandaise sauce is not made super well--it was very clumpy and far too buttery, but the flavor and taste was still on point. The portion sizes are really decent because we all got super full off of our entrees. I ordered a matcha lemonde, but it was a bit too bitter for my taste. My friend, however, loved it and she took it home with her. The next day, we came for dinner and cocktails. The dinner menu isn't as appealing as the breakfast menu, but regardless, we ordered a bunch of appetizers and cocktails. Their cocktails are definitely not very strong, but they taste great. We got the #3, #6, and #7. I personally didn't like the #7 as much (their take on an espresso martini) because the black currant added too much sweetness to what is otherwise a traditionally bitter coffee cocktail, but my friend loved it. #3 and #6 were awesome. Both tasted like juice. If you're looking for more traditional cocktails with a stronger kick, this is not your place. I had a really nice experience here. The aesthetics and decor of the restaurant are so pretty, and I've definitely found a new brunch place to frequent. There's lots of parking, and the staff is SO kind. Definitely a spot for cocktails and conversation. Intimate indoors. Nice enclosed patio to extend dining space. Appetizers I had were solid. I'll explore more of the dining menu, but I think this place is about the cocktail program. A great +1 spot. I'll be back. read more

I've wanted to visit for a while after hearing some reviews from friends, so my friend and I stopped in on a rainy Saturday morning for brunch! I heard their cocktails were creative and aesthetic (as is the seating and tables, etc.), but we didn't actually order any drinks. We did have a reservation, but due to the rain it was pretty empty so it didn't really seem necessary. OVERVIEW: I'd give it a 3-3.5/5. The food was good, but nothing stood out to me that would make me want to revisit. The menu has unique combinations of food, but nothing unique in the broader picture of brunch across Austin. Fortunately the service I have no complaints on (after reading other reviews, it seems they can be hit or miss) - we were seated immediately and allowed to choose where we wanted to sit since it was pretty empty, and we ordered quickly and our food came out and our server was pretty attentive. FOOD RATINGS: - Salmon hash brown bowl (3/5): This is exactly what it sounds like. You get 3 hash brown patties with some smoked salmon and hollandaise on top with a poached egg. I don't think it's worth $16. Other than the hollandaise sauce and the poached egg...not a lot goes into the making of this bowl. - French toast (5/5): This was pretty good! And worth $8. A thick, buttery, rich piece of brioche topped with vanilla "ice cream" and strawberries. Great flavor without being overwhelmingly sweet. read more

I really love this place. I'm so impressed with the food every time I visit. The menu is creative but approachable and delicious. I've been a couple times and the menu is similar but a couple things change up each time which is nice. I love the wine "store" selection and the prices are fantastic for a bottle at a restaurant in Austin. The cocktails are also well made and so beautiful. The staff is so accomodating and helpful with menu suggestions. I can't wait to go back. read more
